I was on my way to my internship when I bumped into this middle-aged man on the road! I got off the bicycle quickly and went over to him. He was sitting on the ground, his groceries spewed out around him cradling his arm. He had a slight bruise, and at that moment, I groaned inwardly over my inability to ride less like a manic fool and also berate myself for running late again, which had me in this situation.
“Are you ok, Sir? Can I help you up, please?”
The man cocked his head, looking at me, and smiled genially. He just shook his head, insisting he was fine and stood up.
“But your arm, you keep holding it? Are you sure you are not hurt?”
“There’s a little cut there, but nothing some saline and a plaster will not cure. You look like you are rushing somewhere. Are you late for something?”
I blushed as I filled him in on how I was late for my internship. He told me to hurry on and that he is fine. I was sceptical to leave him unattended to but he assured me he had it sorted out. I waiied to him, apologizing profusely over my carelessness and then took off. The last I heard was a “Ride carefully, boy!” from him as I rode off.
I managed to get to my internship on time, grateful. I slid into my seat, catching my breath and taking a sip of water before finally letting my thoughts wander to that man I had met earlier.
I really hoped he would be fine. I focused on my internship as it was a long busy day and I had to still go for Sotus training at 7pm so I had to make sure I finished everything on time. I rushed like mad but got my stuff settled and I made it to Sotus barely with breath to spare only to find out that my section head P Kong was not coming in today. Apparently he had some emergency and was away again which meant I had to help fill in as section IC again.
The thing was, it was the 5th time this month that he had done it. I don’t know what fucking emergency it always is but dude has to stop. Can’t he manage his time better and just turn up? As if internship was not tiring enough, I still had to fill in for some irresponsible senior of mine.
One emergency fine. 2 OK, sure I accept. But 5?! In the same month?! Fuck this shit. Clearly, this fellow was pulling a fast one over us and P Arthit as head hazer was falling for it, hook and sinker.
Ugh. The next time I saw P Kong, he was getting a piece of my mind, senior or not!
