Baby Momma Epilogue: Happier

It’s been a few years since Xie Yan became Ian and got a family of his own that cared for him as he did them.

He’s doing quite well, all things considered.

Renaissance is still going strong even after five years. He has long since faded from the spotlight and mostly just handled the paperwork, he instead lets their spokesperson take care of the press. And the paperwork itself he brings home to work on.

His husband has been doing the same thing. He only steps up for the more important decisions and meetings. Instead of going to the office to do the paperwork, he has them delivered or sent to him so he could work at home and be with his family more.

Wenduo, who’s around nine years old now, soaked up all the attention from his parents. It was only fair really, after spending most of his first few years with absent parents.

It came to a point where it seemed almost like their family had always been this way in his memories. He only ever had faint and vague memories of a lonely childhood. Instead he remembered playing with his mom and reading with his dad and going to the park with them both.

The Cheng household had never been happier. Constant laughs and cheers rang through their halls. Even the servants couldn’t help but be affected by their constant joy, doing their chores with smiles.

Ian could only regret that Ian never experienced this life in his time.

They were having a small family outing at the park and set up under a big tree. Ian and Chenyi set up the blanket they brought, afterwards Ian started taking out the food they brought with them.

“Mommy, Daddy, can I go play at the playground? Please, please, please?” Wenduo asked when he caught sight of it. It was close by where they set up too.

Ian smiled at Wenduo’s politeness as Chenyi responded, “Sure.” before he looked back at Ian. “Will you let Daddy come too? I want to make sure you’ll be alright and won’t get bullied by the other kids.” Chenyi said jokingly and ruffled Wenduo’s hair, subtly telling Ian that he was going to watch over Wenduo.

“En!” Wenduo nodded happily before dragging his dad to the playground as Ian waved at them.

After he finished taking out the food, he sat down on the blanket and let out a small breath.

Ian looked towards the playground and pin-pointed his husband and son immediately. Chenyi was pushing the little bun on the swings as he cheered and shouted in glee.

He chuckled to himself before something else caught his eye.

Unlike the other children, screaming and shouting as they played, this child sat by himself on a bench. He had a pair of earphones in his ears as he methodically lined up colorful blocks beside him. He hummed a small tune as he adjusted a block that seemed a bit skewed.

He ran a hand through his blond hair as his blue eyes narrowed and darted back and forth across the blocks. He finally noticed that one was missing, making his pouty lips twist in displeasure. He saw it by his feet a few seconds later though, making his lips stretch into a small smile.

A woman with dark curled hair and soft blue eyes approached him with a wrapped sandwich. She tapped him gently on the shoulder. Once she got his attention, the sandwich was placed on his hand. When he seemed to realize what it was, he beamed at her.

She smiled and kissed his head softly before leaving him to do his own thing. She walked back to the bench a bit to the right of where Ian and his family set up.

He couldn’t help but ask, “Was that your son?”

She seemed to startle slightly before noticing him and nodded with a smile, “Yeah, that’s my little Liam.”

“I have a son myself.” he said and pointed out Wenduo who was now climbing up the slides. “He’s nine years old now, still as energetic as he was years ago though. I sometimes wonder if he’ll always be like this ’til he grows up.” he laughs, making the woman laugh as well.

“Liam isn’t really as energetic as the other kids. He’s six right now, but he doesn’t really get along well with others, even the gers like himself.” she responded before growing silent, seeming to be lost in her thoughts.

Ian’s eyes drifted from her, to Liam when she grew silent. He doesn’t know why, but there was just something about him. He isn’t sure what though.

“The doctors said he’s showing signs of autism…” the woman finally spoke again almost hesitantly, making Ian’s head snap to her.

Autism…?

“We aren’t sure where he is in the spectrum yet though. Still, he’s a good kid. Even if he’d ask for a tuna sandwich every Tuesday at this time… I would never ask for any other son.” she said with a soft smile, filled with something he could only describe as motherly love.

His thoughts ran through his head as she grew silent again.

‘Was this… Ian…?’ There were a lot of similarities so far, but it could be just a coincidence.

Liam had stood up after putting all his blocks back into the small bag and continued eating his sandwich as he walked back to his mother. The woman stood up to give him a hug and lead him back to where they themselves have set up their things with who Ian assumed was her husband watching over everything.

…no matter if it really is Ian or not, he’s glad that this child gets to have a childhood with loving parents.

With that thought, he decided to leave the blanket just for a bit and join his family and have fun.

(3/18/22) I was getting kind of emotional writing this epilogue guys. Like it’s the end you know? :'(( We’ll still have a few extras of course (not sure how many though), but still. The story of Xie Yan is finally done!

(5/26/23) So uhmm, I just realized that I never actually published the last three parts of this installment 😬 *kowtows* I’m so sorry for the delay! I haven’t opened Wattpad in a while since I got busy with college ;-;
Anyways! I will be chain posting this and the last parts!
