Third Person POV
The day started as just another normal day for Wanda except that she was finally getting the chance to hang out with the girls again after what seemed like forever. Wanda was especially excited to be able to hang out with Y/N again after not having been able to see her due to all the work Y/N had piling up from her classes. She was waiting at the normal meeting spot for all of you which was a quiet and secluded part of the nearby park that you have all claimed as your group’s spot.
She was thinking about all the fun things the group could do since Spring Break was coming up when she was suddenly brought out of her thoughts at the sound of footsteps. She looks over to see her long-time best friend, Natasha Romanoff, stepping through the bushes and greeting her with a smile. She gets up to hug the Russian girl and says, “Hey Nat, I’m so happy that we were all able to find some time to meet up.” Natasha returns the hug and responds, “Hey Wanda, I know I feel like we’ve all been so busy lately.” Making the Sokovian girl nod her head in agreement with her statement.
The girls begin to talk amongst themselves about school and what they’ve been up to lately when they hear the sounds of low grumbling coming their way making them look over. They see a head of black hair before Maria pops out from the bushes with a scowl on her face making the other two girls laugh as they get up to greet her. Maria gives Wanda a quick hug and says hi to the girl in acknowledgment before heading over toward her girlfriend’s embrace.
Maria goes on to complain about how she wishes they’d get a new meeting spot, but before she can even get a word out, they hear some yell out “Hey guys” as the person approaches them. The recognition of the voice makes Wanda tense up before turning to face the person with a gigantic frown on her face. As soon as Wanda spots the person, she can’t help but let the words spill from her mouth in what could only be described as pure distaste. “What are you even doing here Danvers? I don’t remember anyone here inviting you to come to hang out with us.”
Carol looks back to see Monica emerging from the bushes and then turns back to look over at Wanda with a smirk on her face before saying, “That’s where you’re the wrong Maximoff. Y/N said it would be cool if I tagged along so I could hang with the girls. Seems to me that she’s trying to introduce her next girlfriend to her friends.” This statement along with Carol’s smirk does nothing but further stroke the flames of jealousy and anger within the Sokovian girl. At this statement, Monica rushes over to Carol and smacks her but before the girl can get a word in Wanda has already retorted back.
“I don’t know how often I have to tell you this! Back off Danvers! Y/N doesn’t even like you like that!” Wanda yells at the blonde in pure frustration. She doesn’t understand why Carol couldn’t get it through that thick skull of hers that Y/N was perfectly fine without her trying to weasel her way into her heart and life in general. Besides, she was hardly the best person for Y/N to be with. Wanda thought that Y/N was great and that she deserved the best, and even if she was looking to date, she could definitely do much better than Carol Danvers
“The only reason that you want me to back off is that you want her for yourself. Just admit it Maximoff, you can’t face the fact that Y/N might just be into me instead of you. Just face it, she’s NOT even into you Maximoff!” The blonde says to taunt the Sokovian girl. Wanda finds herself growing increasingly embarrassed and frustrated by Carol’s taunting words. Wanda marches up to the blonde making Carol’s smirk grow as she sees the fuming Sokovian girl approach her. “That’s not true and you know it, Danvers. If it came down to it and Y/N had to choose between you and me, there’s no competition because she’d choose me in a heartbeat, and you know it.”
Carol’s smirk is promptly wiped off of her face and turns into a scowl at Wanda’s response and her cocky demeanor changes as she grows tense. “She would choose you as a FRIEND Maximoff, but would she choose you as a girlfriend? See, that’s the difference between you and me. You sit on the sidelines and watch as other people date her. While I go after what I want instead of being a scared little girl like you,” the blonde spits out with malice in her voice. Wanda’s face drops slightly and her heart cracks a bit, but she refuses to give Carol the satisfaction of knowing that her words affected her.
Wanda’s face hardens again and in a calm voice, she says “See, and that right there is your problem, Danvers. I genuinely care about Y/N, and I will be there for her in whatever capacity she needs me whether it’s as a friend or as a girlfriend. But I will never force my feelings onto her when they aren’t welcome or reciprocated which is more than can be said about you. So, I will say this one more time, why don’t you just back off already?!” This causes the blonde continues to scowl but her cocky demeanor slightly returns as she says, “Maybe that’s because I’m better for her than you!”
Wanda groans and she grows even more irritated by Carol’s cocky attitude. She decides that she has had enough of her attitude and realizes that she will have to put the blonde back in her place. “You don’t know any-” the Sokovian girl goes to say before she is interrupted by her best friend. “Both of you shut up already!”Â
Wanda and Carol both grow quiet after Natasha yells at them in complete exasperation. “How about this, here’s a simple solution to end all of this. Why don’t you guys just see which one of you she makes a move on first? Both of you seem to think that Y/N does not like the other, so prove it by seeing which one of you she actually likes. Just see which one of you she kisses first and whoever that is can be who gets to date her.”
Both girls are quiet for a moment as they continue to look at the Russian girl before looking back at each other and making direct eye contact. Carol nods in response before saying “Terms of the kiss?” “It has to be lips to lips-” Wanda responds only to be interrupted by Carol. “I enjoy lips-to-lips,” Carol says with a smirk that irritates Wanda, but she ignores it and continues. “And it has to last at least three seconds.” Carol decides to add to that by saying “Or longer.” And Wanda agrees with the blonde. “Yes. Longer would be nice.”
A smirking Natasha suddenly interrupts the two by saying “Alright now that the rules are in place you need to shake on it to seal the deal.” Wanda and Carol glare at each other before the blonde’s smirk returns to her face as she addresses the brunette standing in front of her. “I’m game if you are Maximoff unless, of course, you’re scared,” she says as she holds out her hand. Wanda looks at her hand and then up at Carol with a new glint in her eyes before responding “I have nothing to be scared of, so game on Danvers.” and shaking the other girl’s hand.
