Third POV
Caesar sat in his expansive office, the dim light of the setting sun filtering through the thick, velvet curtains. After a week of no communication with Igor and the chaos caused by everyone, he was already in a bad mood.
Next minute, the phone rang, an irritating sound that seemed louder than usual. Caesar ignored it at first, his fingers absently drumming against the desk, eyes staring off into space. But then it rang again. And again. The persistent sound gnawed at his patience until, with a growl of frustration, he snatched the receiver.
“What?” His voice was sharp, his temper already fraying.
The voice on the other end stammered, uncertain, as if whoever was speaking knew they were delivering the last bit of calm before a devastating storm.
“Boss… it’s Igor. They’ve arrested him. The police…they took him”.
The words hit Caesar like a sledgehammer to the chest, and for a brief moment, everything was still. The room, the world, seemed to freeze around him. His grip tightened on the phone, knuckles turning white as the rage built inside him like a volcano ready to erupt.
“They what?” His voice was low, dangerous, like the calm before the thunderclap.
“They… they arrested him, boss. Said they had evidence. Conspiracy, murders, the works. They…”
The phone was out of his hand before the man could finish. Caesar had hurled it across the room with a snarl, the device shattering against the stone wall. He even flung the chair against the wall, creating a loud smashing noise.
His parents, bodyguards, and servants all gathered around him at a safe distance as soon as he left his office. Their hearts racing as they felt the shift in the air, the raw, uncontrolled rage of a man who was not used to being crossed.
“THEY TOOK IGOR!” He growled when Rozlina stepped forward to calm him down.
Everyone froze and their eyes widened. That moment, everyone knew what Igor meant to Caesar.
With a yell of rage, he tossed a vase, sending it falling to the floor and filling the room with the sound of glass breaking.
“HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?…WHO ALLOWED THIS?†His voice booming through the halls.
No one dared to answer. His men stood at attention, rigid, their faces pale. Even the usually calm and composed bodyguards shifted uncomfortably, unsure if they should step forward or remain invisible in the face of his wrath.
Caesar’s eyes were wild, his chest heaving with each breath. His anger was untamed, primal, the kind of rage that few could survive if it was directed at them.
“Which men were in the building with Igor?” He growled when no one said anything.
After a few seconds, few of the men stepped forward. They were trembling but tried to maintain their composure.
“Boss, the police… they had a warrant. They have evidence…†The man didn’t have time to react as Caesar quickly seized his throat.
“I don’t care about their warrants…Igor doesn’t get touched. Not by them. Not by anyone!” He hissed.
The guard’s face turned red, and he nodded frantically. The man then, collapsed to the ground, coughing and wheezing as he tried to catch his breath. Caesar didn’t spare him another glance.
For a moment, the mansion was silent, only the faint sound of Caesar’s heavy breathing was heard. The staff stood motionless, too terrified to move, too terrified to speak.
Then, with a sudden, chilling calmness that was almost more terrifying than his rage, Caesar spoke again.
“I’m going to the police station”.
Everyone froze, eyes widening in shock. The shock rippled through the mansion, a collective unease settling in.
“You can’t!… They want you, Caesar” Leonid spoke up.
“They think they can lure me in by arresting, Igor?… Then, I’ll show them what happens when they overstep, dadâ€.
The air in the room was suffocating, the tension thick enough to cut. Everyone could feel it. He wasn’t just going to the police station. He was going to a war.
Without another word, Caesar stormed out, his footsteps echoing ominously through the halls. His bodyguard’s following behind while Leonid and Rozlina exchanged nervous glances.
Caesar was about to step into a territory where all odds are against him. Amidst this war, the entire country will burn as…the Mafia King is about to make a move for his precious jewel… Igor.
