Jasmine’s outfit above.
Amelia Smith
“You went with him to London, didn’t you?”
Jasmine, Chloe, and I decided to go with Emily to a Victoria Secret store. A few blocks after the store, we saw a gypsy sign.
A gypsy is a member of a traveling people traditionally living by itinerant trade and fortune-telling.
Jasmine decided that she wants fortune-telling and we followed the sign and ended up standing here in this some sort of antique shop.
“She’s talking to you.” Chloe nudges me.
I look at the creepy looking old lady with dark hair and beads hanging around her neck.
“Excuse me?” I speak.
“Your husband, you went to London with your husband.” She says.
“Oh, I’m not married.” I laugh.
“But I can feel it coming.” She says.
I raise an eyebrow. “What?”
“Your wedding.”
What the heck?
“I’m not even engaged yet,” I tell her, looking at her weirdly.
I don’t believe in this stuff. It’s crazy.
“He has dark hair and brown eyes. You both went to London a few months ago.” She says and that catches me.
Liam’s hair is black and he has brown eyes.
“Are you sure about what you’re saying?” I ask.
She gives me a smile. “Yes, I never get it wrong. You’re going to make a beautiful bride and your husband is a very handsome man.” She closes her eyes. “He’s also very rich.”
“I’m rich too,” I tell her.
“But you’ll be richer after the wedding.” She smiles knowingly.
“This is getting weirder, I’m out of here.” I head out and wait outside for my friends.
That’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever experienced.
But is she right though?
Is Liam going to propose?
Am I ready to marry him? Heck yes!
****
I sigh as I enter my room. What a day!
I look over my couch and I see a bouquet of roses with some designer shopping bag.
There’s a knock on my door so I ask the person to come in. A maid comes in and I smile at her.
“These were brought when you were out with your friends, Miss Smith.” She says after she motions at my couch.
“By who?”
“A driver from the blacks.”
I nod my head. “Thanks, Dorothy.”
She leaves and I notice a note tucked in the roses. I take it and a smile grows on my face as I read it.
My mum dragged me to go shopping with her so I got you these. Love you.

Amelia’s gifts from Liam
I take out my phone and dial his number but he doesn’t answer. I guess he’s busy so I send him a text.
Dadâ¤ï¸: Meet me in my office!
Fuck! This is one of the worst messages ever. I hope it’s good news.
I take my car keys and drive off to Smith Corporation. When I arrive, I’m met by one of the employees, Jared.
“Welcome, Miss Smith.”
“Hi, Jared. It’s nice to see you again.” I smile.
As we enter the building, my heart starts pounding loudly in my chest. All eyes are on me because everyone obviously knows who I am, their future boss.
“Your dad is waiting for you on his floor,” Jared says and allows me to enter the elevator.
I sigh and press the button to the 36th floor. I’m actually tapping my foot on the ground as we go up. I’m so nervous.
Ding!
The elevator opens and I quickly step out
“Good afternoon, Miss Smith.” The secretary greets me.
“Hey, Veronica,” I say dismissively and walk to my dad’s office. I gently knock on the door and he tells me to come in.
I see him standing by the glass windows, looming at the city view. “Do you think you can handle all of this?” He asks.
I roll my eyes. The talk! The one we have every once in a while.
“Even if I can’t, it’s not like I have a choice. I have to.” I say emotionlessly.
He turns around and looks at me. “Please, have a seat.”
I sit down and look around his office. It’s very big. Like I could host a party here!
“This company means a lot, Amelia.”
I sigh. “I know, dad.”
“I just hope that you would be able to take responsibility.” He sits on his office chair, behind his large desk.
“Your confidence in me is very pleasing, father,” I say sarcastically.
“It’s not that I have confidence in you. I know you, Amelia. I’m your father. I see the bored looks you give me when I’m talking business to you, I know how much you don’t want this.”
I look at him. “Then why are you giving me something that I don’t want?”
“Because the family business has been going on for hundreds of years. Back in 1776 when Connecticut was founded, fifteen families found a piece of land with the world’s greatest resources so they built on it and made it their city. They sold the resources across the world and they became rich and famous.”
“Let me guess, those fifteen families are the council, and the city is here, Bluefall.” I fake a smile.
“Yes, our family’s legacy has been going on for two hundred and forty-two years. I need to know that you can hold on to that.”
“Do you ever wish that I was a boy?” I slip.
I think about this every time my dad shows his lack of confidence in me. Did we want to have a boy instead of me, a girl who doesn’t give a shit about business?
He freezes. “Of course not! I love you, Amelia. I’m not doing this because I don’t want you. You mean the world to me. I just want you to know how much this means.”
I look at him and I kind of feel bad for asking because he looks kind of hurt that I asked him that and his words sound so sincere.
He sighs. “Without this company, I wouldn’t be able to take you to a private school, buy you the nicest cars, live in a huge house, give you-“
“I know, dad. It’s just that a hundred percent ownership of this company is crazy! I don’t even know what you do exactly, I just know that you’re rich. I’m only twenty years old, I’m still young.” I tell him, running my fingers through my hair.
“This company does a lot of things but as you know, our business is most international, and to remind you, your twenty-first birthday is coming up very soon.”
“Yes, and I would please like a Rolls Royce Ghost Series II as my gift,” I tell him.
“Sure but you would have to sell one of your cars. You have too many.” He says.
Unbelievable!
“They’re only eight, dad and I love them all.”
He shakes his head. “They are filling up my garage. Sell one and I will buy you any car you want, I promise.”
“Don’t bother, I will buy it myself.” I take a water bottle and start gulping.
My dad claps his hands. “Okay, now to talk about the main reason why I called you here, Peter invited Elle and I over for dinner and he said he would like it if you tagged a lot.”
I spit out the water in my mouth on the carpet. “WHAT?!”
“That’s a hundred and eighty thousand dollar carpet you spat on.”
What the heck? That’s a lot.
“There’s a carpet that expensive?”
He shrugs. “Apparently. Diana designed this office and you know how extra she and your mum are.”
“Yeah.”
“I will see you tonight.”
****
“It’s going to be okay, Amelia.” My mum assures me as we stand on Liam’s front porch.
I’m so fucking nervous. I don’t I’ve ever been this nervous in my life.
The door opens and Diana Black welcomes us with a smile. “Hellooo.” She says and hugs me.
“Hi, Aunt Diana.” I hug her back.
“Come on in.” She says.
My heart starts pounding faster as I step into the house. It’s crazy because I come here all the time but now I feel completely different.
Aunt Diana is talking to my parents but I can’t hear what they are saying.
“Honey, can you please get Liam from his room?”
“Sure.”
I take the elevator upstairs and walk to Liam’s room, gently knocking on the door.
“Come back later!”
I roll my eyes and open the door.
One thing, he’s a room is a mess.
I don’t see him so I check his closet and find him there. The closet is also a mess and there are clothes everywhere.
“Are you okay?”
He jumps and turns to look at me.
“Did I scare you?” I laugh.
“Yes, were you the one knocking?”
“Yeah.”
“I told you you don’t have to knock.”
“I know but I don’t want to fall on you naked.” I blush.
“I wouldn’t mind.” He smirks.
I hit his arm. “Shut up! Your mum asked me to get you for dinner.” I tell him.
“Are you nervous?” He asks.
I nod. “Very.”
“But you’ve met him before.” He nudges me gently.
“It’s different this time.”
He grabs my waist and pulls me close. “Then how about I kiss all those nerves away?”
“Sure.” I put my hands around his neck and we kiss. “Thanks again for the gifts and flowers you sent me. I love everything.”
“Anything for you.” He smiles.
I smile back. “Why is your room this way?”
“I’m looking for something and no, I’m not going to tell you. It’s a secret.” He whispers the last part and winks.
“Condoms?”
“What? No! You’re crazy.” He laughs.
He puts his hand on my back and we head downstairs. We see a maid coming up on the stairs. “Clean my room,” Liam tells her.
“Please,” I add glaring at him.
He rolls his eyes and quickly heads to the dining room. Oh my God.
When we go in, Liam squeezes my hand to assure me it’s okay.
“There she is!” Liam’s dad says.
He stands up from his chair so I walk over to him to shake his hand but he surprises me by pulling me in a gentle hug.
“You’ve grown so much. So beautiful.” He says.
“Thank you, Mr. Black.” I smile.
“What happened to ‘Uncle Peter’?” He smiles.
“Don’t scare her, Peter.” Aunt Diana says.
Peter Black looks at his wife. “What? That’s what she used to call me.”
He’s right. I call him ‘Uncle Peter’ since I was a kid but I haven’t seen him in a long time.
I look at Adam who rolls his eyes at his father.
“Have a seat, honey.” Aunt Diana says and I sit beside Adam, facing Liam.
“Hey,” Adam says and I almost raise my eyebrow in surprise.
“Hey,” I whisper back with a soft smile.
I look at Liam who is engaged in a conversation with my dad. He’s nodding his head as my dad speaks to him and Aunt Diana is talking with my mum.
“So as I was saying, you don’t have to call me Mr. Black. You can call me Peter, Papa, or dad since by the looks of it, we’re definitely going to become in-laws.” He winks.
“Papa? Are you fucking serious?” Adam asks his dad.
“Language, Adam.” His mother warns.
“I can say whatever I want to say, Diana.” He glares at her and my mouth drops.
Diana? Seriously?
I look at my parents but they didn’t seem to be shocked. I guess everyone here knows Adam so much more than I do.
“Just call him Peter,” Liam says.
“Why?”
“Cause It’s already weird that she calls you ‘Aunt Diana’.” He air quotes and I chuckle.
“Why aren’t you eating?” My dad asks.
“Not hungry,” I reply.
“How is your modeling career?” Mr. Black looks at me.
“That’s not the reason why I’m not eating, I swear.” I laugh.
He smiles at me. “Are you also graduating from Hardwood this year?”
Something tells me he knows the answer to all these questions and he’s just asking to be polite.
“No, only Rob, Ian and Colton are. I’m in my third year.” I tell him.
“What’s your major? Business?”
I shake my head. “Architecture.”
He looks at Liam. “Interesting, will you be taking over your dad’s company?”
“Yes.”
“And is that something you want?”
I shake my head. “No, not really.”
“Why?” He asks, sounding surprised.
“It’s not really my thing. I’ve always dreamt of being a successful architect.”
“When the company becomes yours, you can make it whatever you want it to be. You can expand it to an architectural business.”
My eyes widen. “Really?”
“Yes, haven’t you told her that?” He asks my dad.
My dad just shrugs.
“Black Enterprises will also be going into architecture very soon because of Liam. You can come and intern with us if you like.” Peter generously offers.
“I would love that, thank you very much.” I smile.
“Babe, do you wanna help mum get some dessert from the kitchen?” Liam asks, sharing a look with my mum and his.
Why do I feel like they’re going to talk about me when I’m gone?
“Sure.” I smile at him and follow Aunt Diana.
“Peter has always been fond of you.” She tells me. “And you were also attached to him when you were little.”
“That’s what my mother said.”
She smiles. “I’m very happy that you and Liam are back together.”
“So am I.” I smile back.
“Mother?” Adam peaks his head in the kitchen then he comes in.
“Yes, darling?” She smiles at him.
She’s so sweet. My mum would be very mad if I call her ‘Elle’.
“I’m leaving.” He says. “I have to fly to Seattle very early tomorrow.”
She walks over to him and gives him a hug. “Have a nice flight.”
“I’m sorry about earlier.” He apologizes, looking down.
Awwww.
“It’s fine, honey. I love you.” She kisses his cheek.
“Bye.” He nods at me and leaves.
This day keeps getting weirder.
“He’s a sweet kid but he finds it very hard to balance his emotions.” Aunt Diana says.
“He said hi to me earlier and he never does that. He hates me.”
She quickly shakes her head.
“He doesn’t like closure so he pushes people away by being mean to them. He wouldn’t be here today if he hated you and I personally think that’s his warming up to you.”
I took a psychology course last year and I kind of understand Adam. Liam said he’s completely okay now and his disorder doesn’t affect his life anymore but I guess it’s still a part of him.
I forgive him for being rude in LA. It’s not like I was even mad about anything.
“That’s good to know.” I smile.
****
“I’m ready.” The words leave my mouth before I can think.
After my parents left, Liam and I came to his room and we’ve been making out. I love him and I think I’m ready to make love with him.
He lifts his head from my neck and looks at me with a sexy look in his eyes.
“Ready for what?”
“You know what.” I put my head around his neck and pull him close.
“Are you sure?” He asks skeptically.
“Yes.”
“You’re not ready, sweetheart.” He says.
“I am.”
He tucks a hair behind my air. “I know how much of a big deal it is to you. You said you want your first time to be special.”
“Yeah but-“
“How about after our finals you and I go somewhere special? And if you really want to, we’ll do it then.” He smiles.
My face drops. Doesn’t he want me?
“How about you?” I ask in a small voice.
“What?”
“Do you want to?” I whisper.
“Of course, I do, sweetheart. You don’t know how much I struggle to control myself when you’re in bed with me. I get so turned on when you sleep next to me, in my shirts.”
I find myself blushing so I hide my face in his chest. He’s right, I’m so not ready.
I just love him so much and I want everything with him.
“So what do you want to do for your birthday?” He starts stroking my hair.
“Nothing, It’s during our finals, I don’t want to distract anybody with a party.”
To be honest, I always have the grandest birthday celebration but this year, I’m not really feeling it. Twenty one is not that much of a big deal, right?
“You sure? What do you want for a gift then?”
“I have you and that’s enough for me.”
He scrunches his nose. “That’s so cheesy.” He smiles and I laugh.
“Why did you ask me to follow your mum to the kitchen earlier?”
He chuckles and pinches my nose. “Of course you won’t let that slide. You will find out very soon, I promise.” He kisses my forehead.
Okay.
“Can I ask you another question?”
“Sure.” He replies.
“Why me? I mean you had a lot of girls that want you so bad. What made you fall in love with me?” This is something that I think about sometimes.
Camilla is a very beautiful girl and they dated for over a year. Why couldn’t he fall in love with her but he fell for me so fast?
“From the moment, I spoke to you, I know you were special. Even when we were younger, I had always found myself interested in you.” He answers honestly.
I widen my eyes. “Really?”
“Yes. I don’t know if you know this but I have never approached a girl. You are the first girl I ever spoke to, the first girl I asked for her number, first girl I ever asked on a date and first girl I asked to be with my girlfriend.”
“I feel so special.” I smile at him.
Camilla did all the asking in their relationship. She told me that.
“You are. At that parking lot, even though it was the first time we spoke, I felt so comfortable and I was a hundred percent me.” He adds.
Hundred percent himself? Interesting.
When we first met… He was flirty and so cocky.
I chuckle as I remember his “if you’re done checking me out” comment.
“So flirty, cute and cocky Liam is the real you?” I tease.
He tilts his head. “What do you mean?”
“You have two sides, I am not kidding.” I sit up.
“What’s the other side?” He sits up as well, leaning against the headboard with his hands behind his head.
“Sexy, dark, and serious.” I grin.
He leans his head. “And which one do you like more?” He whispers seductively.
“I love both.” I breathe.
“Which one did you fall in love with?”
“Both, I love all of you.”
He brings his mouth to my ear. “You must have a favorite.”
“I don’t.” I lie.
He backs away and narrows his eyes. “Liar.”
“Fine, sexy, dark and-“
“I knew it!” He grins.
I start laughing then I peck his lips. “I love the other side too, a lot.”
“You better because that’s the real me.” He smiles softly.
I love him so much.
“Really? But you don’t show that side a lot.” I speak.
“Yes, it only shows when I’m with you. That is what makes you special and why I fell in love with you. You bring out my real side.”
“But why do you have two sides?” I ask him as I start playing with the hem of his shirt.
He shrugs. “My dad is like that too. He was carefree and funny earlier but he’s a very serious person. It runs in the genes, I guess.”
“Is Adam also like that?” I ask him.
“No. Adam has only one side.” He says.
“The dark side?”
He gently nods.
“How did he become rich at such a young age?”
“He graduated at the top of his class at Oxford University. He’s a very intelligent person so after he took over his fifty percent of my dad’s company, he started a company of his own.” He tells me.
I tilt my head. “What? Isn’t that like a betrayal to your dad?”
“No. My dad doesn’t mind. He’s actually very proud of him.”
“Wait so Adam has his own company and also owns fifty percent of your dad’s company?”
That’s crazy! No wonder he’s so rich. I really thought that he only worked at Black Enterprises. I didn’t know that he owns his own company.
“He also has some sort of huge partnership deal with your dad.”
I cock an eyebrow. “Really?”
Liam just nods and we just lie there together.
I can’t believe it took me twenty years to finally talk to him. We’ve known each other our whole lives. I wonder what it would be like if we were friends since we were kids.
Would we end up together?
“He is also in the hotel business,” Liam adds.
How fucking rich is Adam Black?
