Black sunglasses adorned Natalie’s face as she sat on Chandler’s lap, her head in his shoulder. Her mood had only gotten worse throughout the day and now she was barely listening to Phoebe’s story when something caught her attention, “Did you just say there was a thumb in your soda?” She furrowed her brows, sitting up as she stared directly at the blonde.
“I know, I opened it up and there it was; floating like a tiny hitch hiker.” Phoebe stared into the can, while Monica stared up at her in disgust at the news, “Maybe it’s a contest, like collect all five.” Chandler spoke up, noting how Natalie’s face contorted into one of confusion as she stared at her hand which didn’t fail to amuse him.
“Does anyone wanna see?” Natalie’s hand shot up immediately while everyone else yelled out no. “This is why you’re my favorite.” Phoebe reached her hand out as Natalie took the can from her, staring into it and she’s surprised when they’re really a thumb in there before she brought it to her lips and took a sip and everyone around her groaned out loud.Â
“How did I know you were gonna do that?!” Ross grabbed the can from his sister as he handed it back to Phoebe. “I just wanted to see what it would taste like.”Â
“And what did it taste like?” Chandler started putting a cigarette between his lips as the group groaned again, now annoyed by him while Natalie just shrugged. “Like a soda with a thumb in it.”Â
Chandler raised a brow as he lit his cigarette, “Great description, you should go into writing.” Natalie could barely hear him over everyone telling him to put his cigarette out with Rachel saying it’s worse than Natalie drinking the thumb soda.Â
“You know what, this is so unfair.” Chandler held the cigarette out to Natalie who took it from him, “Really? She doesn’t need you to be a bad influence on her!” Rachel scolded as Natalie shrugged, “Guys, I don’t know if you know this but I’m sad, I got rejected.” She said as she took a drag, watching everyone roll their eyes.Â
“Again with that,” Ross got flipped off when he spoke, “What? Are Nat and I just not allowed to have flaws?” Chandler had to defend himself and Natalie. “Like Joey’s constant knuckle cracking isn’t annoying?” He pointed out as the cigarette now hang from Natalie’s lips.
“Or Ross’ entire personality?” Natalie added as Chandler swiped the cigarette back from her. “And Monica with that snort when she laughs.” Chandler looked over at Monica, “What is that thing?” He asked, genuine curiosity on his face.
“And you two,” Natalie looked from Rachel to Phoebe before sighing, “You’re perfect, it’s annoying.” She rolled her eyes as Phoebe giggled before Chandler spoke again, “We accept your flaws, why can’t you accept us?” He asked as the group slowly goes quiet with Phoebe starting to chew on her blonde hair.
The silence is then interrupted by Joey as he looked around the group, “Wait, does the knuckle cracking bother everyone?” There was another pause before Rachel spoke, “I could live without it.”Â
Joey sat up then, looking up at Rachel, “Oh, well, is it like a little annoying?” He asked, wanting someone to ease his nerves about it because he did do it a lot. “Or is it like when Phoebe chews her hair?” His words make the hair fall out of Phoebe’s mouth as Natalie gasps. “I will not stand for Phoebe slander, I love when she does that.” She pouts as Ross chimes in.Â
“Yeah, don’t listen to him, I think it’s endearing,” Ross’ pronunciation of the word endearing catches Joey’s attention, “Oh, do you?” He asked, mocking the way Ross speaks, making Monica let out that little snort laugh.
“You know there’s nothing wrong with speaking correctly.” Ross’ words were barely cold when Natalie spoke up, “There might be something wrong with you, want a lobotomy?” She offered as Ross’ right eye twitched slightly. “It was one date; she wasn’t your soulmate!” He yelled as he turned to face her, making her lean further into Chandler.
“Okay, Ross, that wasn’t necessary.” Rachel’s overly annunciates the last word when Ross looked over his shoulder at her and she decides to tap out. “I should really go back to work,” She’s barely gone when Phoebe strikes, “Yeah, or else someone might actually get what they ordered.” Her words made Rachel’s neck snap over to her.
“Oh, oh, oh, the hair comes out and the gloves come on.” Rachel strides back to the group, her hips seemed to sway with every word she said. After that it’s not long until the group ends up in petty arguments while Chandler and Natalie start smoking their next cigarette, free without everyone fighting them on it.
