“…you’re not joking are you, unnie?” Yuri asked Yena as they stayed in class despite it being over for about 15 minutes ago.
“I’m serious! I’m telling you, the book just fell even though there was no wind blowing!” Yena insisted on her experience of paranormal activity. She was chilling inside her room when she saw her book fall from the racks, making her feel the creeps and ran out of the room not having any second thoughts.
“There probably was! You were inside your room, weren’t you? It was just probably your AC or something.”
“…you’re scared of ghosts, aren’t you?”
“Wha- no i’m not! Ghosts aren’t even real!” Yuri insisted as her eyes shot up.
“But they’re real! How would you explain my- wait, what’s that?” Yena pointed towards Yuri’s other side as she turned around checking for what Yena pointed at.
“What’re you talking about, unnie? There’s nothing the-” Yena got closer to the unsuspecting Yuri, then closed into her nape and gave her a slight blow.
*fooh*
“WAAAAHHHH!!!” Yuri almost fell from her chair, screaming at the top of her lungs as Yena laughed out loud seeing her friend’s reaction.
“Unnie! I hate you! From now on, don’t ever talk to me again.” Yuri scoffed at Yena in embarrassment and walked away from her seat.
“Ya! Yuri-ah! I was just joking around!” Yena followed her from behind as she picked up the notebook she had placed before. Yuri, upset by her unnie’s joke, didn’t nudge and kept walking towards the exit. As she was about to open it, the door’s handle turned by itself, resulting in her screaming, as well as Yena being surprised by her screeching voice.
“…what’re you two doing?” Chaewon, who was the culprit behind it, showed up as she watched the two sitting down on the ground breathing for their lives after being startled. Y/N who was behind her was also confused as to what the two were actually doing sitting down on the floor in the middle of an empty classroom.
“Don’t scare us like that, unnie! I feel like i’m gonna cry.” Yuri whimpered as she helped Yena get up from the floor.
“What? I didn’t even do anything. I just opened the door and now you two are sitting here on the floor.” She retorted.
“What were you two talking about?” Chaewon asked as she closed the door behind her after Y/N came in.
“Yena-unnie told me a story about how her book fell off the rack by itself last night.”
“It was a ghost, i’m telling you!!” Yena insisted.
“Unnie. It was the wind from the AC!” Yuri retorted, then Chaewon interrupted the two before an argument could arise.
“Okay, okay. Stop arguing. But hey, now that i think about it, how about we talk about fear with Y/N?” The two, who were just bickering, came together agreeing to Chaewon’s suggestion.
“What do you think, Y/N?” She turned her attention to Y/N, who seemed hesitant.
“I guess we could?”
“Great! Now lead the way, Y/N!” Y/N nodded as he walked in front of the three as they whispered among themselves about an idea that had popped up on Chaewon’s mind.
I wanna try and see whether he has a sense of fear or not. Wanna join me?
What do you have in mind, unnie?
I’m gonna try and scare the hell out of him first. You guys should come up with something. I’m gonna go first.
Chaewon sneakily walked up behind him as she hovered her hands on his back, as she counted in her head before startling him.
“Boo!” Chaewon jumped in front of Y/N’s monotone look, making her feel embarrassed.
“At least say something. You’re making me embarrassed here.”
“What exactly were you trying to do?”
“I was trying to make you scared by giving you some kind of shock.”
“Ah, was i supposed to be scared just now?”
“No, forget it. But this shows that you’re not the type to be startled, Y/N. At least that’s something.”
Yuri decided that she was up next as she walked up to them, spinning the book she was holding on her finger. As she got closer to him, she then held the book in her hand and fake-threw it to his face as close as possible in an attempt at making him at least flinch. But as they might have expected, it didn’t work.
Their last hope, Yena then stepped up as she just thought of what she’s gonna do. She’s gonna tell him about the story she had told Yuri before.
“Ya. Y/N. Wanna hear a story?”
“All of a sudden? But, sure.”
“Okay so, i was chilling in my room, just playing with my phone. I was alone in the room, so there wasn’t anybody there, right? But the thing is, i was just lying down on my bed, when all of a sudden i heard a thump behind my back. And when i turned around, my book fell from the racks!”
“Uhuh.. was it because of the wind?”
“No it can’t be! It must be ghosts or something!”
“Ghost? …i don’t think so. Ghosts aren’t real, Yena-ya.”
“You think so?” Yena pouted as Y/N nodded to her question.
Yena decided to retreat, having finished her part. The three looked at each other and sighed in defeat, feeling as if that there’s now another obstacle that they have to face. And that is, to get Y/N to understand about fear. The four of them then looked for their usual seat before sitting down and started discussing the topic that Chaewon had suggested.
“You don’t actually feel fear do you, Y/N?” Chaewon asked as the three were immersed in listening to his understanding of the feeling of fear.
“I’m not sure how I should explain it. Maybe i do, but at the same time, i’m still unsure about it.” The others turned to him in one motion as Yuri asked.
“Can you tell us about your understanding?” He nodded at her question before explaining his knowledge on the natural response of when a human feels threatened.
“It’s this…. uncomfortable feeling. Here.” He pointed his finger at his chest as he looked down before lifting his head up.
“I don’t know how i can explain it better than this, but i feel like adrenaline started rushing inside me, which in turn makes my breath shorter.”
Time skip
Their discussion was cut short due to Yuri deciding that she should also go home, without any urgent reason. When in reality, she is afraid that it’ll be too dark when it’s time for them to go home, and is waiting for her usual plan with Y/N, which is for him to escort her home. Yena on the other hand went to the toilet, leaving Chaewon and Y/N alone. The thought of Y/N lying to her before crossed her mind once more. As it lingers, she’s more and more curious as to whether that was the first time he had ever done it.
“Hey, Y/N.”
“Yeah?”
“Remember how you lied to me about you going home with Yuri?”
“Yes?”
“I was wondering if you ever lied to anyone other than me. Have you?”
“Hm… no. I don’t think so. That was probably the first time I ever lied to someone. And the fact that it’s you… i don’t know. I just felt… weird. It’s something that i’ve rarely noticed.”
“I see… so you’re willing as far as to lie for the first time for Yuri, aren’t you?”
“She did tell me not to tell anyone. If she hadn’t told me to, I wouldn’t have lied to you. I’m sorry Chaewon-ah. I did something I shouldn’t have done. I know lying is bad, but… Yuri also looked quite troubled before, which made me decide to really keep it a secret, even if it meant i’d have to actually tell a lie for the first time in my life.”
“…Y/N i-“
“I’m back! What did i miss?” Yena cheerfully said as she just came back from doing her business. Soon after, Y/N opened her phone and saw that Yuri was telling him to come over to a certain point.
“I gotta go now. My brother’s looking for me. See you guys tomorrow.” Y/N said as he bid goodbye to the others, leaving the two alone as Yena watched him disappear from their sight.
“He was lying, wasn’t he?” Yena asked with her eyes giving out a dead look.
“What was that?” Chaewon asked as Yena shrugged it off.
“It’s nothing. Also, Chaewon-ah. I want to ask you something.”
“What is it?”
“Lately there’s something that’s been on my mind that I never really got to talk about. And I think that I should open up to you.”
“Oh this sounds serious. What is it about, unnie?”
“So.. uh… yeah..”
“Hm?”
“What’s going on between Y/N and Yuri?”
