Transmigrated Into A Waste Who Married The Villain. Chapter 56: Unable to Let Go

Qu Weiyin’s thoughts were suddenly interrupted as she turned her gaze to Luo Jinxiao, the redness around her eyes becoming even more pronounced.

However, she quickly suppressed her emotions, withdrawing her hand and biting her lip, remaining silent.

Luo Jinxiao felt her heart ache even more at the sight. She stepped in front of Qu Weiyin and sternly commanded, “What are you all standing around for? Scatter now!”

The surrounding disciples were startled by her shout and recoiled a few steps. A man in white stepped forward and said, “Luo Jinxiao, these are your senior brothers and sisters; how can you be so disrespectful?”

“Yet you can be disrespectful to Master Uncle Qu?” Luo Jinxiao’s fierce demeanor was rare; her eyes widened in anger.

The man stammered in response, while another voice among the crowd whispered, “We’ve all heard the rumors. If Master Uncle Qu truly is a demon, what’s there to talk about in terms of courtesy?”

“No one can prove that Master Uncle is a demon. As of now, she is still your Master Uncle, and to blindly listen to others and act accordingly is utterly preposterous,” Luo Jinxiao replied through gritted teeth.

Without further ado, she raised Wu Jue, brandishing the sword in front of her, its tip pointed directly at them, flashing with cold light.

“I don’t care if you’re senior brothers or sisters; anyone who doesn’t back off will face my wrath!”

Though she was slender, the chilling light in her eyes made her appear formidable.

Finally, the crowd began to disperse. Although they didn’t know the extent of Luo Jinxiao’s abilities, they were wary of her status as the top contender of the recent Ten Directions Conference. Some, more fiercely defiant, spat a few curses but ultimately chose to flee.

Luo Jinxiao lowered her sword and turned to look at Qu Weiyin, opening her mouth, but words eluded her.

In the end, it was Qu Weiyin who spoke first, her voice weary and soft. “Where have you been?”

“I…” Luo Jinxiao hesitated, unable to find the words.

“Forget it. As long as you’re back, that’s enough,” Qu Weiyin replied, appearing weary and unwilling to discuss further. She turned and began walking deeper into the forest, saying, “I want to go back and rest.”

Luo Jinxiao hurried to catch up with her, feeling an overwhelming sense of loneliness and fragility in her figure. Unable to restrain herself, she asked, “Why do you tolerate them? They merely believe the rumors, a bunch of rabble.”

Qu Weiyin slowed her steps, suddenly recalling her past life—how she had endured and endured until she could no longer manage it, but she had always thought to wait a little longer, perhaps they would treat her kindly.

In this life, she had not intended to endure again; she had briefly considered fully embracing the path of demonic cultivation.

Yet now, there were still things she couldn’t let go of, preventing her from fully severing her ties.

Concluding her thoughts, she opted for silence, instead asking, “What if I really became as they say?”

“You won’t,” Luo Jinxiao replied firmly.

“What if?” Qu Weiyin persisted.

Luo Jinxiao fell into silence, never having considered this question before. What if, in this life, Qu Weiyin truly became a bloodthirsty demon lord? Would she choose to betray her or stand against her?

Or would they gradually drift apart, becoming strangers?

Seeing Luo Jinxiao silent, Qu Weiyin assumed she didn’t want to answer, her expression darkening further. She let out a light laugh that gave off a hint of despair, striding away with a resolute air. Luo Jinxiao instinctively took a few steps forward but was halted by Qu Weiyin’s sharp gaze.

“Don’t follow me,” Qu Weiyin said with a chilling tone. Luo Jinxiao froze, and the two stood at a distance, gazing at each other.

“From now on, don’t follow me,” Qu Weiyin repeated, each word deliberate. She only wanted to disappear, to linger no longer for even a moment.

What was she hoping for? That Luo Jinxiao would say that even if she became a demon, she would still follow her?

What kind of assurance could she offer to make such a promise? It was far too much to ask.

As she flew through the air on her sword, accompanied by the cold autumn wind, Qu Weiyin’s eyes grew increasingly painful. When she lowered her head, a single, clear tear fell straight down, disappearing into the wind.

It seemed she hadn’t shed tears for a thousand years.

Luo Jinxiao watched as Qu Weiyin’s figure gradually faded into the clouds and mist. Her mind was a tangled mess; all she wished to do was protect Qu Weiyin, yet she had never truly considered what she would do if she failed.

Could she truly let go of everything and follow her into betrayal against the world?

She couldn’t think straight. A dizzying wave of pain washed over her.

Luo Jinxiao couldn’t recall how she returned to the disciples’ quarters, only knowing that she had been wandering in a daze. When she finally regained her focus, she nearly collided with someone, stumbling slightly before grabbing hold of a nearby tree for support.

“Yan Ying?” Luo Jinxiao exclaimed in surprise. It had been a while since they last saw each other, and the atmosphere between them had become oddly charged.

Yan Ying’s eyes widened with astonishment upon seeing Luo Jinxiao, and she scrutinized her from head to toe. “You’re still alive?”

“Thanks to you,” Luo Jinxiao nodded.

“Give this to her.” Yan Ying had been struggling to speak, her lip had even bled, but she managed to pull out a small vial of medicine from her pocket.

Luo Jinxiao glanced at the door to the disciples’ quarters and frowned. “Is Luo Ning sick?”

“She got sick looking for you,” Yan Ying replied with anger. “How dare you come back? Don’t you fear for your life? If Elder Qu sees you, we’re both done for.”

As she turned to leave, Luo Jinxiao grasped her arm.

“Let go,” Yan Ying glared, her expression fierce.

“You…”

“Don’t try to persuade me. I can’t escape this,” Yan Ying said, shaking off Luo Jinxiao’s grip. “I’ve already become a sinner. Just give her the medicine. I don’t want to see her.”

“If staying away from her means she can be happier, I’d be willing to live forever in darkness.”

Without further explanation, Yan Ying shoved past Luo Jinxiao and quickly walked away until she disappeared at the end of the path.

Luo Jinxiao opened her palm, staring at the small vial of medicine in her hand, and felt her head begin to pound even more.

Luo Ning was indeed very ill, lying unconscious in bed. Luo Jinxiao fed her the medication, then sat beside her, staring at her pale face in a daze.

As she watched, she affectionately wiped the sweat from Luo Ning’s forehead.

Her mind drifted back to Qu Weiyin’s expression, and the more she thought about it, the more her heart ached. If she hadn’t taken so long to contemplate and had simply sided with her earlier, perhaps Qu Weiyin wouldn’t have felt such sadness.

Forget it. Tomorrow, she would help Qu Weiyin clear the mud that Qu Chengzhou had thrown at her, then she would talk to her again. With a snap of her fingers, Luo Jinxiao conjured a magical talisman, its fiery light pulsing in her line of sight.

The next morning, the commotion outside woke Luo Jinxiao. She rolled out of bed, just in time to see Luo Ning stir awake, stumbling as she tried to rush towards her.

Luo Jinxiao quickly got to her feet and steadied her, gently patting Luo Ning’s head as she said, “I’m fine. Why are you still sick?”

Tears streamed down Luo Ning’s face as she threw herself into Luo Jinxiao’s arms, sobbing uncontrollably.

The young girl’s soft body shook with emotion, and Luo Jinxiao felt her own nose grow tight with sympathy. She shook her head and embraced Luo Ning tightly, softly patting her back.

This was the feeling of having family; in her second life, she finally experienced it.

Suddenly, a loud crack echoed from behind her. Luo Jinxiao felt a sharp pain at the back of her head and instinctively turned to see Lu Fanzhi standing there, her eyes dark with exhaustion as she pointed at Luo Jinxiao’s nose, scolding, “I came back last night and saw you had already gone to sleep, so I didn’t want to wake you. Where the hell have you been all this time? We’ve been searching high and low for you!”

Luo Jinxiao rubbed the back of her head, about to respond, but Lu Fanzhi interrupted again.

“Stop with the excuses! Hurry up and check on your Master Uncle! The people from various sects are already gathered in No Regrets Palace, pressing for an audience to interrogate her!”

At those words, Luo Jinxiao’s expression changed dramatically. She gently pushed Luo Ning away and wiped her tears.

What lay ahead would be a grand spectacle.

No Regrets Sect had rarely been this crowded; nearly all of the disciples were gathered outside No Regrets Palace, listening to the commotion within. Mixed among them were many disciples from other sects, their outfits easily distinguishable.

Luo Jinxiao glanced around and recognized several of the sects, including the notoriously powerful Life and Death Sect and Tianji Tower.

What a grand spectacle it was, she mused. However, having more people around couldn’t be a bad thing for her.

“Do you think Master Uncle Qu is really the instigator behind all this?” someone in the crowd questioned.

“I don’t think so. Master Uncle Qu is as beautiful as a celestial being; how could she possibly be involved with demons?” Bai Li Qingzhou shook his head vigorously.

“Well, that’s hard to say. After all, Senior Brother Huai Shan and Senior Sister Huai Yu spoke so convincingly. They often teach us techniques and don’t seem the type to lie,” another voice chimed in.

“Pfft! Master Uncle Qu taught you plenty of techniques too, ungrateful wretch!” Lu Fanzhi exclaimed, rolling up her sleeves and charging forward.

Guijiu, amid the crowd, quickly grabbed her and pulled her aside, scolding, “Everyone quiet down! The elders haven’t reached a conclusion yet, so what’s with all this chatter!”

In a radius of several feet, the crowd fell silent, and sounds from within No Regrets Palace became clear.

Qu Chengzhou’s voice rang out particularly loud and clear, stating in a chilling tone, “Weiyin, how do you explain the demonic energy surrounding you?”

There was no response from Qu Weiyin; she must not have answered.

Luo Jinxiao disregarded the crowd and quietly recited a spell, pushing her way through to stand at the entrance, glancing through the doorway. There, she caught sight of Qu Weiyin standing coldly, her back rigid.

“Elder Qu, allow me to ascertain if there is any demonic energy lingering on the Qu family head,” a small man dressed in luxurious black robes, with a mink fur scarf wrapped around his neck, stepped forward, smiling.

From his clothing, Luo Jinxiao recognized him as the sect leader of the Life and Death Sect.

He reached out as if to touch Qu Weiyin, but she shot him a cold glare, prompting him to hesitate for a moment before ultimately stuttering, “Qu family head, the demon race has always been a bane to us cultivators. Now that No Regrets Sect has been afflicted by the demonic forces, you merely need to prove that you don’t bear any demonic energy, and you’ll naturally be free of suspicion.”

“What if I choose not to allow you?” Qu Weiyin retorted with a cold smile. Despite her slender form standing alone, none dared step forward.

At this moment, Qu Chengzhou let out a dry laugh, stepping back with his hands clasped behind him. “Weiyin, why don’t we hear from Huai Shan and Huai Yu how they came to their conclusion?”

“I’m quite eager to hear,” Qu Weiyin’s eyes flickered with a chilling light.

Huai Shan and Huai Yu emerged from the corner, looking frightened and drawing closer together. After a moment, they nervously spoke, “We two only saw the demonic energy around Master Uncle Qu; beyond that, we have no clarity.”

“Huai Shan and Huai Yu are correct. Weiyin, how did you know the location of the entrance to the Demon Realm?” Qu Chengzhou inquired amiably.

At that point, Luo Jinxiao could no longer hold back. She pushed the door open and strode confidently inside, exclaiming loudly as she walked, “What nonsense! You two claim to prove Master Uncle has demonic energy; I can also prove that you’re colluding with the demon race and lured us in!”

The moment Qu Chengzhou saw Luo Jinxiao, a dark scowl settled on his face.

Luo Jinxiao disregarded his expression, which seemed to say he had eaten something foul, and quickly approached Qu Weiyin. Folding her arms across her chest, she provocatively looked toward Huai Shan and Huai Yu.

“You two were so out of it when you were rescued that you looked as if you were dead, throwing up bile. And now you claim to have seen demonic energy? Are you dreaming?” Luo Jinxiao mocked, raising an eyebrow.

“W-We were just scared and pretending to be unconscious,” Huai Shan stammered, his expression flustered as he struggled to explain.

Qu Weiyin had intended to remain silent and avoid talking to Luo Jinxiao, but her expression tightened, and she turned to Luo Jinxiao angrily. “What are you meddling for? Hurry and get out!”

Luo Jinxiao tilted her head, blinking at Qu Weiyin with a cheerful smile, as bright as ever.

“Well, since we’re both making allegations, all we need is another witness, and we can reveal who is lying,” Luo Jinxiao said with a grin. She scanned the faces around her before smiling at a middle-aged man dressed plainly.

“Lord Tang, I wonder if Young Master Tang Lan’er is here today?”
