Transmigrated Into A Waste Who Married The Villain. Chapter 71: Obedient

A+ A-

The spring breeze swept across the grassy fields, painting the landscape in vibrant green. From above, the fields appeared to be draped in a delicate layer of green gauze, brimming with life.

Occasionally, there were patches of farmland, where farmers wielded their sickles, carving out furrows in preparation for sowing seeds.

Luo Jinxiao and Qu Weiyin soared through the air on their swords, their speed remarkable. Having rested on Qiongqi’s back overnight, they swiftly entered the territory of Chang Li after just a day and night.

Chang Li’s terrain rose steeply, resembling a plateau. Being situated far to the north, it was frigid, with dense clusters of spruces creating dark, thick forests.

The further they ventured, the more the tree canopies became white and desiccated, and the forests seemed to thin. Occasionally, the roar of beasts echoed, followed by a flurry of birds taking flight, darkening the sky—a sight to behold.

Qu Weiyin had seen such scenery before and felt unimpressed, while Luo Jinxiao flitted about like a headless fly, unable to contain her curiosity. When Qu Weiyin could no longer hold her back, she decided to forge ahead on her own, ignoring Luo Jinxiao.

“Master Uncle, wait for me!” As Qu Weiyin distanced herself, Luo Jinxiao quickened her pace to catch up, a cheerful smile on her face as she matched Qu Weiyin’s speed, just out of arm’s reach.

Qu Weiyin turned her head to look at her and shook her head. “There are many demons and beasts here. You should slow down.”

“Okay!” Luo Jinxiao replied obediently, nodding with a smile. She then pranced back to Qu Weiyin’s side, tilting her head and teasingly said, “Master Uncle is worried about me.”

“Hmph, I’d be happy if you got eaten,” Qu Weiyin retorted coldly.

Luo Jinxiao’s smile faltered as she was about to say something when a flash of light caught her eye. She immediately stopped, spun around, and looked down at the ground.

Qu Weiyin sensed something was off as well and followed suit, turning her head.

Below them, in the spruce forest, a flurry of birds took to the air, and the treetops swayed violently, as if something large was repeatedly colliding against them, sending dust swirling.

From the commotion, it was undoubtedly a formidable beast.

“I have a bad feeling about this,” Luo Jinxiao said, peering carefully into the dense woods when her gaze suddenly sharpened. Without hesitation, she recalled the Nu Jue and dove straight down.

“Luo Jinxiao!” Qu Weiyin called out sharply, noticing her lack of response. Annoyed, she chased after her and landed just in time to see Luo Jinxiao charge into the thick, swirling smoke rising from the ground.

Luo Jinxiao wasn’t acting impulsively; she had spotted a flicker of light that resembled Luo Ning’s spiritual energy.

The smoke was spewing from the mouth of a monstrous beast—round and featureless, with no visible eyes, only a massive mouth and stout, sturdy limbs.

The humid, foul-smelling gas it exhaled was suffocating, reminiscent of the miasma found in southern regions. At that moment, the beast ran wildly, shaking its head as it expelled the toxic gas.

Realizing the gas was poisonous, Luo Jinxiao held her breath and used her hearing to assess her surroundings.

Close by, hurried footsteps echoed. Someone seemed to be fleeing, occasionally falling to the ground. Luo Jinxiao dashed over and, just as the person let out a piercing scream, she seized their wrist.

The person froze for a moment, their scream becoming even more shrill, prompting Luo Jinxiao to quickly cover their mouth and whisper urgently in their ear, “Shh, hold your breath.”

The person blinked in surprise but immediately complied. Meanwhile, the beast’s iron hooves thundered toward them. Luo Jinxiao, gripping the Nu Jue that had appeared in her hand, swung it forcefully to sever the beast’s hoof.

Dark, muddy blood gushed forth, splattering all over Luo Jinxiao, causing her to scrunch her nose in disgust. She quickly brought the sword back around, channeling her spiritual energy wrapped in a gust of cold wind, and struck the beast’s belly, carving a large gash.

The noxious gas surged forth, causing Luo Jinxiao to feel lightheaded. Thankfully, since she held her breath, she remained unharmed.

However, the person in her grasp rolled their eyes back and fainted.

As the toxic gas poured out, it brought with it thick, viscous liquid and numerous fragments, emitting a nauseating stench that filled the forest. Luo Jinxiao nearly lost her breakfast from the previous night.

With a grunt, the beast collapsed heavily to the ground, crushing a young spruce tree beneath it.

“Ugh,” Luo Jinxiao grimaced, trying to wave away the foul odor while rolling her eyes.

Suddenly, a red figure appeared in front of her, pulling her away before patting her back. Cold fingertips brushed against her lips, delivering a sweet flavor that quickly washed away the nauseous feeling, leaving her refreshed from head to toe.

“Seriously, at this age, how do you still manage to make me worry?” Qu Weiyin scolded, pulling out a pill from her sleeve and placing it near Luo Jinxiao’s mouth, her fine eyebrows knitting together. “Eat it.”

With her face smeared in grime, Luo Jinxiao chuckled and took a bite of the pill, deliberately rubbing it against Qu Weiyin’s hand. Qu Weiyin recoiled slightly, refusing to look at her.

Only then did Luo Jinxiao lower her gaze to the person she had been holding, half-lying, half-kneeling on the ground. It was a young woman with a delicate appearance, dressed in exquisite garments made of cloud brocade, adorned with jingling jewelry—she looked a hundred times better than Luo Jinxiao’s own shabby appearance.

“Lu Fanzhi?” Luo Jinxiao blinked in surprise, smirking as she reached out to smack her cheek. “Just as I thought, it’s you.”

Lu Fanzhi was jolted awake by the unceremonious pluck. She flailed her arms in front of her, shouting, “Luo Turtle!”

Luo Jinxiao maintained a stern expression, releasing her grip, which caused Lu Fanzhi to tumble straight into a puddle of mud below.

At that moment, Lu Fanzhi fully regained her senses, gasping for air and looking at Luo Jinxiao in shock. “I can’t be dead, can I? How come I’m seeing hallucinations?”

“Cut the nonsense. Where’s Luo Ning?” Luo Jinxiao demanded.

“Her legs are definitely faster than mine. How would I know?” Lu Fanzhi replied irritably, climbing up and reaching out to pinch Luo Jinxiao’s cheek. “Heavens, it really is you! Where have you been hiding like a turtle all these years? We’ve been looking everywhere for you!”

Lu Fanzhi seemed to grow more agitated as she spoke, her voice never ceasing until Qu Weiyin coldly handed her a pill.

Instantly silenced, Lu Fanzhi took the pill and tossed it into her mouth, then reached over to tap Luo Jinxiao’s arm, reproaching her softly, “It’s not just Master Uncle who’s been looking for you these past five years; I and Luo Ning have too. And look at you, the first thing you do upon coming out is to seek out Master Uncle! Truly seeing beauty and forgetting your friends!”

Qu Weiyin’s cheeks flushed slightly, and her tone became sharp. “Lu Fanzhi!”

Lu Fanzhi flinched but promptly fell silent.

“Elder Sister!” A bright, clear voice pierced through the dissipating smoke as Luo Ning appeared, rubbing her eyes as she confirmed it was really Luo Jinxiao before sprinting toward her and grabbing her hand.

She still had a charming doll-like face, showing little change. The fair and lovely girl had big, fluffy eyes that grew misty with tears as she opened her arms and dove into Luo Jinxiao’s embrace.

“Elder Sister, you’ve finally returned,” she sniffled softly.

“Have you truly been at South Dou Peak all these years?” Luo Jinxiao asked with concern, her eyes glistening with tears.

“Yes, it’s a complicated situation; I’ll tell you all about it later.” Luo Jinxiao softened her tone, gently patting Luo Ning’s back. “How did you end up here?”

Luo Ning wiped her tears as she stepped back from Luo Jinxiao’s embrace. “Wuhui Sect sends disciples out to train each spring. Knowing that there are many demons in Chang Li, we decided to come together. We didn’t expect to find you here.”

Qu Weiyin interrupted their conversation by clearing her throat twice, seemingly disapproving of such emotional exchanges. She carelessly poked at the viscous substance oozing from the demon’s belly with a stick.

A few vividly red fragments were dislodged and stood out noticeably against the muddy ground.

“What are these, Master Uncle?” Lu Fanzhi asked, covering her nose.

“Body parts,” Qu Weiyin replied flatly.

Lu Fanzhi’s eyes widened in shock as she suddenly covered her mouth and dashed to the side, shortly thereafter, the sound of retching echoed in the air.

Luo Jinxiao had never witnessed such a scene either, and her stomach churned violently. However, seeing Qu Weiyin’s unflinching expression as she handled the mangled remains as if it were an everyday occurrence, Luo Jinxiao steeled herself, stubbornly swallowing down her nausea.

“There are no disciples from Wuhui Sect here,” Qu Weiyin said after examining them for a while. She tossed the stick aside and turned to walk away, her demeanor appearing much lighter.

Luo Jinxiao took one last look at the grotesque corpses before hurriedly catching up to Qu Weiyin. A smile broke across her face as she thought to herself. Even though Qu Weiyin appeared cold and indifferent, she always cared for others in her own way.

She had never worried about whether there were any unknown fellow disciples inside this demon’s belly.

“Master Uncle, what kind of demon beast is this? Why have I never seen one before?” Luo Jinxiao inquired.

“It’s a wild boar,” Qu Weiyin replied.

“A wild boar?”

“It’s a mountain spirit beast transformed from a wild boar. The people it eats turn into toxic gas within its belly, which it uses for hunting, and then utilizes them afterward.”

“Have you checked if the Sect Master has given you any further instructions?” Qu Weiyin paused and asked.

Luo Jinxiao nodded, pulling out the silk cloth. The pattern on it had transformed quietly into an unusually shaped building.

Before Luo Jinxiao could ask, Qu Weiyin suddenly said, “Changming Tower.”

“Changming Tower?” Luo Jinxiao exclaimed in surprise. She had heard the name but had never seen it herself. She only knew it was said to be the most feared place by all the malevolent spirits that breached into the mortal realm.

Any malevolent spirit or demon that entered would gradually dissolve into essence, nourishing the heavens and earth.

What exactly did the Sect Master want her to find in such a ghostly place?

Qu Weiyin’s expression turned complex as well. After studying Luo Jinxiao for a moment, she suddenly stated, “It’s too dangerous inside. When we get there, you stay outside while I go in.”

“No way.” Luo Jinxiao interrupted her without a second thought. “Master Uncle is helping me, not doing it in place of me. Since it’s dangerous, it’s much better for the two of us to face it together than for you to go alone.”

Qu Weiyin’s eyes glimmered, her watery gaze deep and unfathomable. She stared intently at Luo Jinxiao, her tone firm. “Listen to me, this is non-negotiable. Either I go in, or you won’t be allowed to enter at all.”

“But…” Luo Jinxiao became anxious, running a few steps to stand in front of Qu Weiyin, arms outstretched, her dark eyes locked onto hers.

“Master Uncle, I’m not a child anymore. I’ve grown up; I’m not as weak as you think. You can’t always shield me behind your back.”

“Where are you all going? We’ll follow too!” Lu Fanzhi, having finished retching, came running with Luo Ning in tow upon hearing the commotion.

“Get lost,” Qu Weiyin snapped with a sharp tone.

Lu Fanzhi immediately halted, fear apparent as she turned to leave.

Qu Weiyin glanced at Luo Jinxiao, noting her noticeably taller stature and the dissatisfaction reflecting in her eyes. The rapid rise and fall of her chest gradually steadied, and her previously rigid attitude softened.

With a sigh, Qu Weiyin reached out her slightly cool hand to tuck a stray lock of hair behind Luo Jinxiao’s ear and tenderly brushed the grime from her soiled face.

Instantly, the mud that had clung to Luo Jinxiao vanished, leaving her clean and neat.

“Inside there is danger and terror beyond your imagination. As long as I can shield you, I will always keep you protected behind me.”

“Be good,” she said, her voice flowing gently like a soft stream, revealing a tenderness she had never shown before.
