Wenclair One Shots – Killing Me Softly phone-call of fate

A+ A-

it wasn’t that she didn’t love her hometown, really. san Francisco was a fascinating and beautiful city, always hot, sunny and bright. fitted her personality well and the fact that her mood was always heavily influenced by the weather made it all more better. so the city wasn’t the problem.

however, Enid still felt her stomach turn upside down whenever she had to go back to san Francisco for holidays. every year, standing at the airport and deciding whether turning around with her bags and running the fuck out of that place to god knows where would be a good decision or not. just to not return to “home”.

in the end, Enid never ended up doing it. of course. because she was a big, fat coward.

that’s right. she was a coward. though she would never admit that. she would deny it every goddamn time without a bat to eye.

so instead, she always took risks in other things to prove you damn wrong. always going out of her comfort zone; trying new activities; if she had feelings for someone she always said so, confessed, no matter how much she feared rejection she never backed down on expressing her feelings, her opinions.

she made sure she was loud and perfect image of the personality she created for herself until eventually she became it.

all that, all that going out of her way with something to prove, just for her to chicken out once again when yet another semester at nevermore ended and she had to go back to her hometown

so when Enid received a call from her best friend on a hot summer day in san Francisco, asking Enid to be her plus one at some wedding she was invited to, Enid nearly dropped her ice cream and screamed into the phone because hell, she would of done anything anyone asked her to if it meant getting away from her family

could she even call them her family? they sure didn’t felt like one. Esther was obsessed with getting her to wolf out to the point there’s no other topic for any conversation they had since Enid arrived home.

one judgmental, narcissist bitch with mind full of pack mentality who would casually add “I just want what’s best for you” after most painfully traumatic and scarring ‘talk’ a mother could say to her child

Murray wasn’t as bad, no. Enid’s father didn’t bug her, brought wolfing out in every sentence nor did he fill her brain with how much of a disappointment and disgrace she was being to the Sinclair family.

but, he didn’t do pretty much, anything either.

not standing up to her defense, not ever disagreeing with mother and sure as hell not comforting her either, because that two and a half second long look of guilt did not make her feel better, at all! just following Sinclair around and nodding at her words like a stupid lost puppy

so of course she screamed yes to Yoko’s offer to finally, FINALLY escape this wrenched place cause even if it’s only been two weeks into summer, god knows she couldn’t take it anymore

Enid spent the rest of the week counting down minutes till she would see Yoko. she had her luggage ready days early, couldn’t sleep, couldn’t rest, yet she was beaming. she was vibrating, literally.

she didn’t tell her parents that she was gonna be with Yoko for a week -good for her and whoever Addamsses were but damn, a week long wedding?- until last minute and didn’t wait for their response nor reaction as she barged out of the door and hopped into taxi

flight to new jersey was booked, waiting for her and she absolutely took it and after what seemed to be five hours, if not more, she arrived in new jersey.

Yoko was waiting for her at the airport. Enid quickly spotted her with her werewolf abilities and after a bone-crushing hug and maybe a tear or two from the once again united best friends Enid demanded Yoko to tell her all about whatever she was being invited to because from what she heard from Yoko, Enid was sure this wasn’t a normal wedding

apparently, over three years ago or so, one of Yoko’s cousin got married into the family of Addamsses and ever since that event, the Addams family have been inviting Tanakas to every single wedding of theirs

the Addams family weddings are always, at least a week long because of all sorts of rituals and traditions that happened within, not to mention Addamsses being filthy rich. it’s just natural for them to have long weddings

the first ritual starts on the very first day the wedding week, right after the ceremony. whoever is marrying the Addams, in the this situation, the husband is suppose to challenge the best swordsman of the Addams family into a duel to prove his bride and her family that he can protect the said Addams he’s marrying

“he doesn’t have to like actually win or something cause obviously he can’t in hundred years defeat the best Addams swordsman but it’s more about how much he will last and put up a fight you know”

Yoko explained in low voice to Enid, the guests were gathering into the hall for the ritual, none of them wanting to miss the event out.

Enid was holding a wine glass in one of her hands while leaning her head towards Yoko. she was scanning the room the duel was gonna be held in. from the corner of her eye could see bride’s family hovering over the woman, smothering her cheeks with kisses and giggling at few spilled tears from their eyes

if only her family was like the Addamsses. the whole time Enid’s been here she had been doing nothing but adoring the family bond and their love for each other. family love should be normal, it is normal and Enid knows it but she can’t help but admire the way the Addamsses make sure none of them are feeling left out. nothing she experienced back at home

“They have to like practice for months before wedding only for this moment, it’s pretty cool though”

Enid sipped on her wine while she listened, this was one damn fine wine. Not only tasty but she could already feel a bit dizzy from it but not as much to miss out guests forming a circle in the huge hall for duel

“It’s starting” Yoko giggled and grabbed the blonde’s arm in excitement “this is like, totally my Favourite part of their wedding”

“You’re weird”

“Says the girl who loves pineapple on pizza”

“Listen! It’s seriously good and You haven’t even tried it”

“I don’t need to eat it to know a goddamned fruit doesn’t belong on pizza!”

“It tastes good so why the fuck n-“

“-shut up it’s starting

The vampire interrupted Enid’s words and held her hand up in air

The two girls watched as now-husband made his way into the middle of the circle with a sword in his hand. The other end of the circle parted as short, dark haired woman with braids and sword similar to his, appeared in all black.

Enid couldn’t help but notice how extremely attractive the girl was and the fact that she seemed same age as her. She was suppose to fight this man??

“Wednesday Addams. Eighteen years old. Daughter of Morticia and Gomez Addams”

Enid was suddenly way more focused on Yoko’s words than she has been.

“Has been named as best swordsman of the family ever since she was fourteen. Her opponents never lasted more than five minutes so it’s like standard at this point”

The wolf listened as she watched probably over twenty-five year old man and apparently, a teenager duel. She followed their movements and watched Wednesday Addams move like she’s floating in the circle. Almost like she was dancing

“She was the one my cousin had to fight too. Also she’s like emotionless. Seriously, like I’ve never seen a pang of emotion on her face before.”

“and she moves like feather, I even thought she was vampire at first, with her pale skin and all and I’m still not completely sure she’s not one”

Yoko giggled at her own self before turning her head to Enid and felt her smile drop

Enid.. Enid looked like she had been hypnotized. Blush creeping up her cheekbones and ear. Not to mention the literal fucking heart eyes she was sending towards the goth girl in front of her

Yoko knew knew that gaze and what it meant well, all too well and silently hoped the Addams girl wasn’t as emotionless as she though she was

Or else her best friend was fucked

Yoko sighed teasingly as she took her wine glass and got up from the table. She took her girlfriend, Davina’s hand along the way and practically skipped towards the circle the guests were making in the huge hall

This was her Favourite part after all

“What’s happening?”

Bianca asked in confusion. Yoko’s friends followed her behind like a lost puppies. Clearly never been to the Addams wedding before

“You’ll see”

Yoko still couldn’t believe this was happening. Who would have thought that seven years ago, the idea of bringing Enid to the wedding as her plus one would be the reason of another one happening right now

And if she liked to take credit and brag about it every chance she got, so what?

She watched the two brides make their way in the center of the circle with their swords

“Cara Mia, you do not actually think I will go easy on you just because we’re getting married do you?”

Wednesday cooed, playing with her sword in her hands and her lips twitched upwards watching Enid giggle at her words

“never in my wildest dreams, love”

Bianca seemed to connect the dots and facepalmed. groaning, she turned to yoko

“don’t fucking tell me Enid made me teach her fencing for this”

“she’s a fast learner though isn’t she?”

Yoko smirked when Bianca rolled her eyes laughing

“don’t remind me. it even got annoying”

Yoko turned her head away from her siren friend and faced the two girls inside the circle. when Wednesday transferred to nevermore wasn’t too surprising, she had heard Morticia and Gomez talk about their time at nevermore many times. it was expectable

what she didn’t expect was this weird tension between Wednesday Addams and her blonde best friend that so happened to be roommates. Yoko wasn’t stupid, she quickly realized something must have happened between them at the wedding that Enid refused to tell her about but she couldn’t put her finger on it

Yoko’s questions were answered the second she caught them in one of the rooms of the academy that no one used and then it all made sense. then, she did felt stupid. the secret glances, the feeling that you shouldn’t be there when u got left alone with the two.

the tension, the fucking tension, of course it was sexual. Yoko felt disappointed with herself the second she took a grasp of the situation as much as she felt impressed with their hiding. she’s usually good at spotting the homies

and gay Wednesday Addams? why did that also make so much sense

“are you ready for the first fight with your wife then?”

Enid visibly blushed at the use of the word wife but still kept her eyebrows furrowed and mouth in a smirk. Wednesday’s eyes darkened at the sight

“bring it on!!”
