“Yeah, what’s the favor? Anything for my favorite gal.”

I told Sofie everything, including the part where I tackled Hadrian. She was shocked at the whole story, but she definitely soaked up all the tea.
Now we’re sitting in her cozy living room. Sofie was thrilled to take me in, so thrilled, it almost scared me.
Her son is adorable, already walking and talking, though he’s a handful. He gives Sofie as much trouble as I do, which seems fitting.
I’ve already unpacked into my new room. The house is small, but inviting, with a hominess I instantly liked. Sofie’s done a great job with the place, which is expected, since she has a great sense of style.
“Oh, and guess what!?” Sofie squeals, bouncing in her seat.
“What?” I reply, my voice edged with apprehension. You never know, when you’re with Sofie, anything can go down.
“Remember our old friend Mia?”
“Yeah…”
“Well, it’s her birthday this weekend, and she’s throwing a party. We have to go,” Sofie says, her excitement obvious.
I don’t really want to say no, but parties aren’t my thing.
“Are you sure about this, Sofie?”
“Most definitely,” she replies, nodding a little too enthusiastically.
“Where is it?” I ask, actually considering it.
“It’s a house party.”
“Well, then no, I’m not going.” We all know that house parties mean a ton of drama.
“But please! It’ll take your mind off everything, including this hot drama you’ve got going on,” she pleads, throwing in the puppy dog eyes she knows I can’t resist.
“Fine, okay, I’ll go.”
“Yayyyyy!”
I can’t believe I’m doing this.

John gave me the rest of the week off after hearing what happened.
I got kicked out on Thursday. Friday, I and Sofie binged-watched Outer Banks on Netflix. JJ’s reckless behavior reminded me way too much of Hadrian.
Now it’s Saturday and the big day is finally here. It’s party time, baby.
Sofie insisted that we had to dress cute. Since I didn’t have most of my “cute” clothes with me, she let me borrow some of hers.
Now, I’m wearing a black, long-sleeve off-the-shoulder crop top paired with a shiny black mini skirt that sits mid-thigh. I finished the look with black combat boots that hit just below my knees.
I glance in the mirror, applying a bit of cherry lip gloss and adding another coat of mascara to my lashes. Sofie did my makeup, and as much as I hate to admit it, I have to say, I look gorgeous.
My eyes sparkle in the dim lighting of the room, and with Sofie’s makeup skills, my prominent features really pop. The glow of my skin makes me feel beautiful, as if I’ve just stepped off a fashion runway, filling me with confidence.
Turns out, I’m more than ready for tonight.
The Fit:
*
The music thumped loudly throughout the whole block as we stepped out of the Uber. Sofie insisted we dont go in our own cars because apparently ‘we’ll end up in some guys bed.’ Well, not me, I’ll catch an Uber back to Sofie’s.
Before we’ve stepped foot into the now crowded house, I can already hear the distant laughter and chatter.
Sofie and I agree that we’d go at a fashionably late time, because nobody wants to be at a party when there isn’t lots of people there. According to her it would ‘be weird’, but I agreed because it means I don’t have too be there for too long, or get too drunk.
The beat of the bass has my heart racing. I wonder how this night is going to end. My thoughts eat at my confidence, slowly bringing it down.
We walked into the house, and I’ve already forgotten who’s party it is. Taking in the place where people were dancing, drinking, laughing, eyes drift to Sofie, who was already at ease, slipping through the crowd like she belonged here.
The black dress she wore clung to her in all the right places, and her heels gave her the perfect height. Sofia looked stunning, and I couldn’t help but feel a pang of self-doubt as I glanced down at my own outfit. Of course, Sofie looked far better than me. She always did. How could I compete?
Sofie’s fit:
Fuck it. I’m here to let go and forget about my problems. I ask the bartender to get us two shots each.
“Damn girl, we just got here, and we’re doing shots already?” Sofie jokes, surprised by my boldness.
I just shrug, making her laugh.
*
After a few drinks and some more shots, I’m buzzing. I grab Sofie’s hand and drag her to the dance floor.
“Leeett’s daaance!” I slur, my word blending together.
Our favorite song comes on, and we practically squeal. Sofia starts to dance with some guy whi slides up from behind her. Looks like she’s got a ride for the night.
Someone must’ve noticed me watching Sofie dance because a random guy leans in close and whispers in my ear, “How about you dance with me instead of staring at your friend so enviously? Trust me, you’re way hotter than her, and by the end of tonight, I’ll make sure you feel that way too.”
His voice sends shivers down my spine-but not in a good way.
Fuck it. I swear that’s my motto for tonight, so I take the stranger up on his offer.
I spin around on my boots to face him, taking in his features. Fuck, he’s hot. Not Hadrian-hot, but hot enough to have my panties dripping by the end of the night.
I start dancing on him, giving it everything I’ve got. I completely forget about Sofia as I sway my hips to the electronic beat. I also forget that I’m only doing this to prove to myself, and anyone watching, that I can be way sexier than her.
“Fuuuck,” the guy behind me growls. “How about we go take this somewhere else?”
Nodding my head, not caring what happens next, I agree with him. Just as he’s about to grab my hand and lead my off on an adventure, someone stops him.
I glance over to the guy that’s about to ruin my night and-OH MY FUCKING GOD!
Is t-that Hadrian?!
What the fuck is he doing here?!
And why is my hot ride walking away? Ughhh, Hadrian always has to ruin everything good in my life. First my job, and now my one-night stand.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” I ask him, my voice sharper than a knife with frustration.
“Getting drunk as usual,” he replies nonchalant, earning an eye roll from me in response.
He’s just standing there, watching me, so I take a moment to examinehis facial features. His nose is looking better, although it is slightly purple, along with his jaw. His cheekbones and jawline is also very prominent, another thing to be jealous about.
Meeting his gaze, my eyes lost in his dark green ones, reminding me of that time I got lost in the forest behind the mansion-they stir something deep inside me, a flicker of fear I can’t quite explain.
“Your eyes are so beautiful, I hate them,” I blurt out, officially reaching the stage where my thoughts spill out unfiltered.
“Is that so?” Hadrian asks, looking amused.
“Uh-huh. I wish my eyes were that pretty and mysterious,” I tell him.
“Mysterious?” He repeats, a quizzical look painted across his perfect features.
“Yeah, mysterious. Then everyone would look my way and give me attention,” I confess.
“Attention?” he echoes, now just offering one-word questions.
Before I can answer him, Sofie stumbles into me, nearly spilling her drink. Laughing loudly, she grabs onto my arm to steady herself.
“Heeyyy, bitch!” she slurs, her words blending together.
I open my mouth to respond, but her gaze has already shifted to Hadrian. Her eyes widen slightly before she smirks.
“Ohhh, who’s this hottie?” she teases, winking at me with a look that says, Go for it.
“Hadrian,” I mutter, my frown deepening as I quickly sober up.
“Is this the asshole who called you a whore and kicked you out?” Sofia blurts, her tone suddenly sharp and accusatory.
I nod, unable to give a verbal answer.
Sofia’s fuming, her anger sobering her up quickly. “Listen here, Hadrian, you fucker-if you ever pull shit like that again, or call Lilah a whore one more time, I’ll call my boyfriend to come over and fuck you and your rich bitch attitude up!”
I know she doesn’t have a boyfriend, but it’s clear she’s just saying it to scare him off.
Before Sofia can continue her tirade, he leans in closer, his lips mere inches away from my ear. His breath gently faning across my skin, sending shivers down my spine-the good ones. I swallow the forming lump in my throat as he whispers,
“You have one minute to shut your friend up and tell her you’re leaving with me. And if you don’t…” He pauses, building suspense and tightening the knot in my stomach, “I’ll shut her up for you and drag you out of here with me against your will.”
