For a while they’ve been eating now and nobody spoke a word. The sound of clinking could only be heard as each of them ate from their plate. Kaia wasn’t feeling the tension, he wanted to get this over with, it was killing him.
A – Dad….
This room felt silent as everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at Akerian.
A – This is Kaia….. My lover.
Miko raised her eyebrows and said, ” Do you have no manners? Doing introduction while having a nice meal. I’m disappointed.”
Kaia tensed up when he heard this so he grabbed Akerian sleeve secretly and whispered, “We can do this later.”
A – Oh no. It’s just no one was saying anything so I thought it would be a bit lively if we get to each other while having this nice meal.
What are you doing?! Kaia was yelling at Akerian in his head.
The old man cleared his throat and everything went silent again.
Roger – And what do you do?
The tone was flat, there didn’t seem to be any dislike or anything. It sounded like he asked with genuine curiosity.
K – Um… I act, Sir.
Roger – Would I have seen you somewhere?
Kaia side eyed Akerian. He was getting nervous under the old man’s dominating gaze.
K – Um i recently played a part in The Palace Games, Sir.
The Palace Games was the movie that got him the best actor reward. Although Kaia was scared since Roger was old and he might not have been familiar with current movies.
To his suprise Roger actually asked further questions as if he had seen it.
Roger – Ah you were in there I see. Who did you play?
K – The… The General Sir.
The General although he’s not the protagonist was the most popular character from that film. He was just a man who got caught up in the war for the throne and lost his life for the useless next Emperor. The movie was based off real life events that happened and the story of this General still lingers in people’s mouth.
Roger – Oh! So that was you? I see I see you did well… I might have to ask you for your autograph.
Roger laughed as he finds it silly that an old man was asking autograph from a young actor. Kaia actually lit up when he heard the praise and said thank you.
While everyone was enjoying their meal Miko was getting upset. She still had a grudge against Roger and Akerian. To her, she still can’t accept the fact that Roger disowned Julian for being gay and now her husband was praising Akerian’s male lover.
When everything was over, Akerian and Kaia finally got up ready to leave.
Miko gladly took them to the door. When they were about to leave Miko passed out a comment about Kaia to which Akerian didn’t really took it well.
Miko – Leeching off another rich guy again after my son what a parasite.
Kaia heard it, he did, why wouldn’t he? She almost said it right in his ears when he passed by her. And Akerian also caught that. Kaia still walked away but the latter stopped in his tracks and looked at Miko with cold eyes.
A – What about you? When dad dies what will you get? Your son won’t inherit the family company and neither will i? There’s nothing for you who will you go to?
It was true. Although Roger’s companies were big, both Akerian and Julian were able to stand on par with their dad so they both declined the inheritance. Instead it will directly go to their eldest brother who was right now still staying with their grandpa outside the country. Of the three sons the eldest already has a life outside the country with a wife and some kids. Roger had sent him to his father from a young age to learn and lead so it was finally time for him to give his assets to his eldest son. The legal documents were already set. Not even a speck of dust from the Ardino family was left for Miko.
Akerian bent down and whispered, ” You think father wouldn’t find out about what you did to my mom?”
Miko shook in fear when she heard. Akerian’s mother died due to an accident but the accident wasn’t just an accident. It was beautifully crafted to make it look like one.
A – Dad didn’t say anything cuz he knew you suffered because of him. He blames himself for what happened with you and your son. But he couldn’t let the death of his wife go right?
Miko struggle to stand. She was so scared to even react. Actually Roger didn’t really had an affair at all. On a drunk night Miko who came in to Roger’s room to give dinner saw the man lying on the floor. As she was trying to get him back on bed one thing led to another and then the next thing comes Julian in Miko’s belly. What was supposed to be a one night stand became a knot tying both of them to one another.
After that the story goes as you know.
Akerian didn’t say much more seeing Miko tremble in fear. His eldest brother will deal with her once he learnt of their mom’s accident when he came back again. In fact he may have already known so he just decided to stay aside afterall he has another priority now.
Kaia who was already out and was waiting by the car asked, ” What took you so long? You didn’t say anything to her did you?”
Akerian smiled and said, ” Nope nothing at all. Let’s go.”
Kaia was still suspicious but he couldn’t wait to go back home so he went inside the car and then the two drove off.
