The four hefty men walked down from the stage directly and walked towards the man who just made such a demand. Song Qinghan knew something was going to happen which was totally beyond his expectation, but he still couldn’t make sure of his guess.
However, Shuluo was much clearer about what was going to happen, he glanced around for a brief moment and then moved even closer to Song Qinghan and whispered in the ears, “They want that guy to experience the power of that snake himself! Well, out of the mouth comes misfortune!â€
Song Qinghan glanced at him faintly, and then he answered without even moving his lips, “Since you know the fact that ‘out of the mouth comes misfortune’, are you yourself still attempting to challenge that?â€
Shu Luo’s expression stiffened. He quickly sat back while straightening up his back with a face of seriousness and sealed lips. As if he was pretending that nothing happened just then, fixing his sight on the stage quite seriously.
The man among the crowd was suddenly pressed down by the four hefty men, and finally he came to know what he would face in the next section. He couldn’t help but shout fiercely, “What do you think you guys are doing? I’m the son of the county magistrate! How dare you getting me down like that! My father will… Hey, let go!â€, the man started to sob out of his fright.
Just before he might speak something more unpleasantly. The man on the stage took over the red cloth from the box and stuffed it into the pitiful man’s mouth.
“We got rules here, and no one once broke it before. Since you don’t believe me about the truth at all, Lord. Well, of course I should get you an answer to satisfy you.â€
Then, the man on the stage waved his hand, the four hefty men then pressed the bawling man down on the box forcing his neck to expose downwards to the hole on the box.
Well, it was an intrinsic nature for the silver snakes to capture their food or attack their foes by sensing the heat. So when the bawling man’s neck was totally forced to be exposed on the top of the box. The lightning silver moved in a flash again upwards. And after that, all of a sudden the bawling sound stopped abruptly, while the man collapsed lifelessly like a muppet the next second.
However, this wasn’t the end of the ‘show’ yet. The man on the stage uplifted the body of the man who had already shown no sign of any life characteristics and pinched his motionless chin, while smiling to the other people in the crowd, saying, “He’s right. See? The king of the silver snake is hyper-poisonous so that he died without even changing his expression at all.â€
The dreadful silence, again, fell on the scene abruptly. Yet instead, the next moment there came waves of slight laughing sound up on the second floor. No one knew whether they were laughing on the dead man’s over-confidence or the the humor of the man on the stage.
Song Qinghan finally loosened his extremely straining nerves in his mind. Probably he knew currently it was totally beyond his own ability to do something right now, so it was no use for him to just be nervous himself. After all, he was not a celestial being at all, he couldn’t make a dead one to regain his new life.
Though it was totally beyond his expectation that things would just develop like that, as for those people who laughed, it seemed to be a quite normal thing.
After all, the scale of the auction was not that small at all. If any of them was able to challenge their authenticity of the products, then the auction might be hard to keep on since it would be interrupted by all manners of queer demands.
However, such an unscrupulous and merciless method to prove the truth was indeed too bloody. Well, probably this guy on the stage did get a solid background himself…
After this brief interlude passed, the man on stage wiped his hands, and motioned the servants to clean all the messy things up on the stage. And then he turned to the audience and smiled again, saying, “The authenticity of the snake has been proved now, so let’s compete in bidding, basic price is one hundred golden coins!â€
When Song Qinghan heard the words ‘One hundred’, he thought he probably was able to join such a feast himself like a noble did. Yet at the moment he reacted to the words ‘golden coins’, he couldn’t help but widely opened his mouth out of shock.
Gold was always priceless. It meant that even someone owned one hundred thousand silver coins, it would still be hard for him to own one hundred golden coins. And obviously, Song Qinghan could only regard it as a show in this auction.
In fact, he would really want to purchase this snake if his financial background allowed him to. The reason was purely because he wanted to make a further research on this tiny creature’s poison.
Poison and medicine are often shared with the same principle. He still remembered that in modern times, there were many specific medicine which was specially targeted at various serious illnesses contained snake venom. Unfortunately, there was no advanced technology here, so even if he got the snake, it still posted a high possibility that he would fail to produce some efficient antidote. Yet it would still be good to give it a shot.
There were very few bidders. Logically speaking, it would be impossible to say that these guys were retreating because of the high price. Instead, he who attended once before in such auction would have known the fact that the currency reined here was indeed ‘gold coins’ instead of ‘silver coins’. So only one possibility might explain- the ‘rare animal’ king of silver snake didn’t gain its popularity here.
Well, that was indeed reasonable because no one would really purchase a tiny creature which was a big threat to his life at any time without considering its rarity.
The scene which matched the one Song Qinghan imagined didn’t show up since only few people showed their interests and raised their hands. Yet the ones who raised their hands seemed to love to excel others rather than the snake. They didn’t want to lose their faces by such a wealth competition.
“Tsk,†Shuluo sounded, seemingly the motor in his throat was triggered all at once again with an endless flow of words flocking from his mouth, “That one is the youngest son in Wang Family which is famous for grain merchant. Well, obviously he wants to buy that snake to kill his elder brother, and, probably he will kill his father at the same time if he really gets a evilness in his heart. As long as he succeed making it, he can do with good arrangement to inherit his domestic wealth and his father’s position. At that time, one hundred golden coins aren’t a case bothering him, he can even afford whatever worth ten thousand golden coins.â€
As for the other bidder, Shuluo couldn’t tell since the one who raised his hand was at the second floor. Yet he still made a judgement on the guy, saying, “Well, the other person who competes against that one won’t be a good bird as well. Since this snake can be used as a useful murder, he can definitely throw and kill!â€
Song Qinghan shook his head disapprovingly and whispered, “Throw and kill? You should be kidding me, right? He might get himself killed as well if he really does so. I don’t think that they have got any antidote.â€
Snake venom was a toxin triggering at nerves. No one was going to be rescued if he got a bite unless he was injected with a specific serum. And probably Song Qinghan would thank god if they could get any serum in this ancient place.
Noticing that Song Qinghan refuted him, Shuluo mumbled, “It’s just a speculation of mine. These people must have already got their scheme themselves before they came here since they are much more scheming than me…â€
Out there among the crowd, people were whispering to their partner like they did. Probably it was because the process was too boring, they could do nothing but talk.
However, probably warned by the fact that the previous man was killed without mercy on stage, the crowd didn’t dare to speak aloud but whispered to each other. Thus, the man on stage didn’t say anything towards that, he just remained his smile and fixed his eyes on the two who were still competing against each other by offering a higher price.
Of course, he definitely knew the intentions of these people to purchase such a snake. He wouldn’t have resorted to any possible means to capture it. If it wasn’t because of the fact that the king of silver snake got a violent venom while it was a life-threatening thing on stage, he probably would have presented it last with a theatrical performance. It was his pity that until now they still failed to find a efficient way to control the fierce snake. In that case, he just took the snake out for opening warm-up.
While he was deep in thought on stage, the first bid finally came to an end. The guy who was called as the youngest son of the grain merchant Wang lost the game, he bit his lips tightly, seemingly showing his reluctance to such a result.
But even so, he didn’t turn to glare at the person who was on the second floor angrily or make any irrational moves. Because he knew that the person who succeeded buying the snake probably was someone he had met in reality before and at the same time got a distinguished identity. He shouldn’t trouble himself by bothering.
When the man on stage announced the result, he glanced over at the youngest son of the grain merchant Wang with a sense of admiration.
He who was able to control his emotion no matter what happened and wherever he was should be someone able to accomplish great event in the future.
