A Western Doctor’s Happy Farming Life[1] 169

A+ A-

On the other side, Shuluo didn’t expect that Song Qinghan would offer a price so quickly. He fumbled all around the pockets on his cloth, and then mumbled like pulling his teeth, “How… How about taking the dogskin plaster handed down from my ancestors… Well, at least I think it is nice to use…”

The man in black was speechless, he didn’t bother to say anything and cling to the topic but nodded and turned around to walk to the stage.

Anyway, he didn’t have to bear any responsibility towards the words of them.

Seeing that the man in black was standing right at the tail of the line on stage, Song Qinghan suddenly got an idea to summon him back, yet he at the end still refrained from doing so.

No matter what was going to happen, at least he should give it a shot, shouldn’t he? If he didn’t have such a confidence himself, his years of experiences of being a doctor was just wasted.

Besides, almost every bidder in the scene did offer a price themselves for this ‘item’, so that meant that the chance for his mentioned object being picked was actually faint. In that consideration, he was now totally at ease.

Shu Luo looked much more relaxed than he was. Seeing that Song Qinghan was deep in his thought, he approached again and whispered, “Did you offer a price, or something to exchange?”

After that, he sized Song Qinghan up and down from head to toe, and noticed that Song Qinghan got nothing himself but a pack of suspicious gadgets in hand, so he squinted and raised his eyebrows trying to make a tease, “Don’t tell me that you offer the dogskin plaster as well?”

Song Qinghan pursed his lips and calmly said, “Something like that, it is something handed down from ancestors too.”

Shuluo didn’t bother to ask further since he knew Song Qinghan wasn’t willing to say it. He shrugged slightly and then fixed his sight back on stage.

It had to be admitted that those triplets indeed got appearances able to astound the world. Despair in the eyes for them didn’t seem to be a disaster at all, but instead an additional ornament. Their looks definitely provoked the sympathy from all the audiences.

In fact, Song Qinghan did not think too much when he bid. If he really got the triplets as servants or something, he might not know how to deal with them.

Should he get them home? He wasn’t that foolish at all, of course he knew the fact that ‘An innocent person will be guilty for hiding a jewelry’.

He didn’t even get the capability to protect himself and his family, let alone to protect these three beauties who were beautiful like bright pearls.

Should he sell them again as second-handed servants?

He was indeed eager for peace, yet he didn’t think that these three beauties would get such a great power to cease the fire between the two countries.

However… Song Qinghan couldn’t help but sink into a deep consideration about the ancestry of these triplets.

What was the Yueya Tribe? It sounded like it was a place full of power and energy. So should it mean that if everything went smooth, these triplets at least would work in the progress of the war?

Just as his thought was going wilder and wilder, all the men in black had already finished reporting their information.

Well, the man on stage seemed to be a sophisticate himself. He didn’t act exaggerated or show any violent expressional changes at all throughout the whole report as if every single report was the same for him.

Yet, what was different was that he did ponder for a moment before the announcement of the result. Not long, he raised his head decisively and uttered abruptly, “I think you guys should have been impatient, I will announce the result now.”

“The final deal goes to… the Lord who bade himself as an exchange.”

As soon as his voice fell, a bustling noise burst out again among the audience. It seemed that not only one or two but almost the majority tried to show their suspicions on this result.

Even Shu Luo could not help but whisper to Song Qinghan, “Isn’t it too ridiculous? What kind of bidding it is?! I would say the inherited dogskin plaster is better than him. Who knows whether the bidder is someone with paralyzed limbs or not.”

Song Qinghan pursed his lips and didn’t say anything because he didn’t know what to say.

Should he be honest and admit to Shuluo that he was indeed the one with ‘paralyzed limbs’ Shuluo mentioned?

Actually, what he said to the man in black was a few more words than what the man on stage just said.

The first sentence was “I’ve cured the smallpox”, and the second was “I know there is a problem with his kidney.”

He was not sure which sentence played the decisive role. It might be the former, it might be the latter, or the two sentences might work together.

The former represented his achievements, the latter represented his strength, and the word ‘himself’ represented his courage.

If he guessed correctly, the reason why the man on stage would pick his deal was simply because of these.

Seeing that the man in black coming back again, he knew he now was qualified to have a choice himself: to stay and keep watching the bidding, or make the deal done directly.

He thought for a moment before standing up, and then he rose from his seat and followed the man in black in behind and left the scene quietly without making any big noise.

Of course Shuluo was aware of the action of Song Qinghan since he was so close to him. Yet he was just too dumbfounded and failed to react in time. Instead he thought Song Qinghan was too foolish intending to break the rule. After a long while, he didn’t hear any scream of the backstage, so he shook his head and didn’t bother himself to think further.

Because Song Qinghan was too low-key and he left directly from the last side, only few people noticed him. However, although Shu Luo did not guess it, there were smart people among them. They already knew what was going on and there was surprise in their eyes when they looked at Song Qinghan.

Even though they were surprised, none of them believed that Song Qinghan would come back alive.

Probably Song Qinghan would just be executed at once as long as they found out that what he promised did not match the description.

Song Qinghan was still holding the pack of fried lotus petals that had already turned cold. He didn’t show any expression when he was led by the man in black passing through several curved routes and finally heading to the basement.

Probably the man in black thought that Song Qinghan was being obedient rather than being ‘naughty’ he acted previously. So in order to ease Song Qinghan’s tension, he took the initiative to speak, “Due to the special situation of your case, we need to verify the ‘goods’ first and then make a decision. Later you will meet with our chief, don’t worry about it, just be honest.”

“Alright,” responded Song Qinghan, “Is your chief the one who got ill?”

The expression on man’s face froze. Though he didn’t take a pause on stepping, it took long for him to nod, and then he answered, “Yes.”

Although this information was not essential for Song Qinghan, knowing it in advance was always a good thing. At least, it could save time to make some redundant salutes in politeness and get straightforward to the topic.

The structure underground was much more complicated than the structure of the building on the ground, and it was much larger in size. When they walked into a place similar to a hall, the man in black suddenly stopped and bowed paying his respect while greeting, “Lord Chief, the successful bidder is here.”

A weak voice sounded from the front, yet it was calm and chill.

“Mmm, leave us alone. I would love to chat with him personally.”

The man in black seemed to hesitate for a moment, but he quickly made a decision. After paying another respect to the chief by bowing, he left the hall-like place directly.

Song Qinghan looked up, only to see the back of the chief.

The chief wore a magnificent red gown himself with his hair weaved and fixed by an emerald hairpin. From his profile, it could be seen that he possessed such a fairly white skin and chubby appearance. A figure totally far cry from a patient who suffered from an annoying illness. He who didn’t know that this man was ill probably would think that he was someone about to get married.
