It was the first time for Yuan Wenxuan to see such a difficult illness case, he was quite excited so that when he went back to the house, he asked out of curiosity, “Master, that kid lack something called Vitamin C, isn’t that right?â€
Song Qinghan wasn’t surprised at all when his young disciple inquired him of something like that, because the booklet he gave Yuan Wenxuan had already recorded variously indispensable micro-elements within. But he did feel a bit surprised over that Yuan Wenxuan could make a connection between Vitamin C and Zhu Ying’s illness, he then asked, “How do you know that?â€
Yuan Wenxuan scratched himself on the head timidly as if he was being quite humble for the right answer, and then he responded, saying, “Because the booklet you gave me records the examples of orange and tomato, and it’s said that both of these two fruits are with rich Vitamin C. So when you mentioned something like that, it occurred to me right in my mind that the boy lack Vitamin C. But surely, I didn’t expect that it was a right answer.â€
A flash of admiration flashed across Song Qinghan’s eyes. Well, since he had been so busy for a while, he never got a chance to test his own disciple. So in that thought, he commenced inquiring Yuan Wenxuan of some random professional questions.
Night fell in the blinking of an eye as the two just talked and talked. It was out of their attention when they finally found that the environmental darkness was approaching outside.
At the moment when Song Qinghan stood up and was about to cook, Wu Dahu emerged from the rear of the gate.
Darkness blurred the contour of Wu Dahu, but Song Qinghan could still find something strange from Wu Dahu’s unnatural reaction. Just as Wu Dahu was about to sneak into the room, Song Qinghan shouted, “Stop! Did you get hurt?â€
With a shock, Wu Dahu responded calmly, saying, “No, nothing. It’s surely nothing. You get injuries sometimes if you’re practicing weapons, that’s fine.â€
Nonsense! Song Qinghan didn’t even believe Wu Dahu for what he said currently, he then just approached and rolled one of Wu Dahu’s trouser-legs up. It was a big shock for him when he discovered the seriously swollen ankle on Wu Dahu’s feet, he pondered for a moment, and then mumbled with anger, “This is what you called ‘Just Fine’? Well, show me how you make a ‘Just Fine’ injury like that now. I would love to see how you make it.â€
Since Song Qinghan had discovered the injury, Wu Dahu no longer hid himself in the shadow of the darkness, he pulled Song Qinghan’s hands up leading him inside the room, and then got a medical cream out of a box, while speaking to Song Qinghan gently and indulgently, “It’s my first day practicing, and I got some wrong gesture and movement when I practiced. That’s what caused and festered the injuries. Don’t worry about that, alright? I will just get accustomed to it in few days.â€
Song Qinghan stood there without words but just listened, of course he knew that truth, but he still got his eyes red-rimmed at once as he stared at the scars on Wu Dahu’s ankle.
He took over the medical cream from Wu Dahu, and then gently applied it on the injuries on Wu Dahu’s ankle. But it seemed that he had recalled something in his mind, he purposely pressed harder on Wu Dahu’s ankle all of a sudden. Pitiful Wu Dahu frowned tightly, pursing his lips as if he intended not to shout.
Song Qinghan then softened his motion again as he seemed to feel sorry for the hard pressing, but he still snorted, saying, “How can you get better if I am not going to give you a hard massage to dissipate the extravasated blood inside? And most importantly, only greater pain can make you remember something! What now?! Do you really think that you can lie to me so easily? Well, your joint here must be your betrayer, it’s obviously because of the overuse of it which caused your swollen ankle! Confess to me! Were you practicing all the time except lunch time today?â€
“Hmmm… Well, listen. I just got obsessed in practicing, and it made me forget about everything… That’s… that’s why I got my ankle swollen. I’m sorry, I promise I won’t do that anymore.†answered Wu Dahu, embarrassed, coughing dryly.
Then, he looked at Song Qinghan, who was foaming with anger, he got his heart softened all of a sudden. And then reached out and pinched Song Qinghan on his fair-skinned cheek.
Song Qinghan didn’t dodge. He blushed suddenly when Wu Dahu touched his face caressing, his ears reddened hard, then he threw Wu Dahu’s hand, saying timidly, “It’s time for dinner!â€
Wu Dahu giggled when he witnessed how Song Qinghan turned around and got away with his red-rimmed face. He counted in his mind and found that it seemed to be fine now for them to sleep together… And further, probably they could have some intimate motions?
Just as he got his mind wilder and wilder, he seemed to get a bulge in his underpants all of a sudden. With a guilt, he tried to calm himself down as hard as he could in order to get rid of those naughty scenarios.
Well, it couldn’t be possible for them to do so since they got a child to take good care of, even though Song Qinghan showed his strong willingness with that.
Alas, it seemed that this pitiful man still needed to wait.
During their dinner, Song Qinghan caught the grievance-laden expression on Wu Dahu’s face in sight, he made an introspection himself while picking up the food with chopsticks but taking a sudden pause. He found since he gave birth to Little Shitou, his attention was almost fixed on the child but not Wu Dahu. And then he commenced resorting to any possible resolutions.
Maybe he should be gentler to his man? Applied the medical cream quietly without a word?
Or to do all the housework? His husband got a tiring day practicing, after all…
But since all these actions were motion compensation, what about the mental one?
As he thought about something, he said coldly, “You have practiced one whole day long, it’s quite impressive of you.â€
HA, it was a good choice to say something like that in such a situation. No male didn’t like to be admired, right? Yet after that Song Qinghan seemed to twist with embarrassment there.
Yuan Wenxuan was binge-eating now, picking up pieces of food while gobbling another. But when he noticed the whole situation while looking left and right at Song Qinghan and Wu Dahu, he was amused but awkward, and then hurried to bury his head into the bowl again, trying to hide his expression.
Wu Dahu looked at Song Qinghan with a strange expression and said with a confused expression, “It’s not impressive. It’s my first time to use the halberd, and it still takes time to get me accustomed to it…â€
Song Qinghan sighed, “Oh, halberd! That’s much more impressive, isn’t it? Aren’t you just accustomed to using dagger?â€
Although Wu Dahu felt that Song Qinghan was acting rather queerly tonight, it seemed that the compliments worked, Wu Dahu then answered humbly, “No, it’s not impressive, Brother He is the one who taught me everything today. I got a general idea and comprehension on every kind of weapon, and then it will be better for me when I encounter some rivals with those weapons. In that case, I can easily find out the weak point of the other party.â€
“Oh, impressive! Then eat more tonight, and get yourself ready for tomorrow striving!†said Song Qinghan.
And then he reached out with chopsticks and picked up a piece of meat in a full size and delivered it to Wu Dahu in the bowl.
It could be clearly seen from Wu Dahu’s expression that he got his mood brighter from a gloomy one. Song Qinghan figured out that such a daily compliment would surely satisfy a man’s vanity. But luckily, Wu Dahu wasn’t a man who would indulge himself with such an ear-pleasing statement, instead ,he got a much soberer and steadier type of personality. Otherwise, he would be much flattered and drunk in his own world of glory.
After dinner, Song Qinghan confess to Wu Dahu about things happened in this afternoon. Wu Dahu was a bit worried when he was informed by Song Qinghan that he was ready to treat a stranger. But he didn’t say anything to object because he believed in Song Qinghan that he could handle everything by his own. Well, he would always stand behind him and support him though.
Song Qinghan caught the stiffness on Wu Dahu’s face in sight when he mentioned that the stranger was named “Suâ€. Something seemed to occur to Wu Dahu all of a sudden, but Song Qinghan didn’t bother to inquire since Wu Dahu showed no willingness to talk about that. Probably he didn’t know that stranger at all but just happened to get an old friend who got the same surname.
Because Wu Dahu had to practice martial arts every day, he didn’t have time to accompany Song Qinghan to the mountain to pick seasoning materials and monk fruits. Song Qinghan, who was bored, ate and slept at home with Little Shitou. In the blink of an eye, five days passed, and it was not until Old Zhu knocked again on the door did he realize that it was time to visit Zhai Su.
The trip to Zhai Su this time seemed to be quite different, because they got several “Tails†behind.
Old Man Gao, seemingly as a rubbernecker, came along with his husband. Next to them walked Doctor Shi and Yuan Wenxuan.
Zhai Su was no more in panic when he saw a group of people clustering in his yard, instead, he got his countenance rather calm while greeting everyone who showed up in this place, and then he turned on Song Qinghan, saying gently, “Doctor Song, I got my stomach better now. And I get no other physical discomfort, can we go on discussing about the operation?â€
Since Zhai Su took the initiative to make a report, Song Qinghan stepped forward and examined the tumour for a moment, and then inquired Zhai Su of something he asked last time, “Since you’ve got yourself prepared physically and mentally now, then we will do it today.â€
And then he informed Zhai Su about the risks he might encounter in details in the operation, and took out a piece of rice paper from his sleeve, handed it over to Zhai Su, and uttered calmly, “Lord Zhai, please sign here if you get no questions about the clause.â€
Zhai Su was stunned, but he still took the paper over without any hesitation. However, just as he took a glance at the words on the topmost paragraph on the paper, his eyelids sank a bit. He still signed without hesitation with his signature on the rice paper.
Old Zhu turned his face sneakily, and suddenly got his eyes wide open with astonishment, grunting, “How… How…?â€
Song Qinghan took the rice paper back again, and then said calmly, “I’ll do my best to treat him. But no one is that omnipotent to predict the risks in a certain operations. So such an action is to protect myself. Lord Zhai must sign on the paper.â€
Believing someone in his moral quality shared nothing common with signing with a signature. Otherwise, it would be no use for the modern medicine system taking an informed consent form as a standard specification before any operation.
Seeing that Old Zhu seemed to have other thousand words to speak, Zhai Su raised his hand, motioning to Old Zhu that everything he did was from his willingness, and then he turned on Song Qinghan again, saying while smiling faintly, “It’s fine, I am now fully aware of the risks Doctor Song has mentioned on the paper, and also, I am rather willing to bear the risks it posts. Anything else you want me to get informed, Doctor Song?â€
Song Qinghan was quite satisfied with the straightforward temperament of Zhai Su. After getting him inside the room, Song Qinghan started using liquor to disinfect every tool he might apply, he made a gesture to the others to stay afar and then took out a jar of wine from the package and delivered it to Zhai Su, he lowered his voice, saying, “Drink it, drink it all until you can’t make it.â€
A fragrance burst after Zhai Su opened the jar, the pleasing smell of sweetness from the wine dispersed. It was an utter shock for him and then, he smiled all of a sudden. Though he wasn’t quite sure why Song Qinghan intended to ask him to drink the wine before the operation, he still drank it all.
Song Qinghan stared at Zhai Su who was now equipped with a pair of blurred eyes with gradually reddened face, he nodded with satisfaction and then put away the empty jar, he supported Zhai Su with his hands to lay down and ordered Yuan Wenxuan to tie and fix Zhai Su’s arms and legs with some broken fabrics.
Since Yuan Wenxuan got such an experience of “Tying Someone†last time, it seemed that he had become a sophisticated one to tie and to fix this time. He made a great progress so far since he knew he should inquire the patient of the feelings about the tightness and readjust the way he tied for several attempts.
After the preparatory work was done, Song Qinghan put one of his scalpels on the fire for a brief moment and then, in a rather smooth and quick motion, he lifted the scalpel and cut the tumour through the contour of it.
Well, in terms of the difficulty of both operations, the operation today could surely compete with the one cutting open the belly for the leader boy of the acrobatic team. Yet in terms of the precision of the whole process, operation today prevailed definitely.
Because the surrounding skins of the tumour was all integrate skins with no flaws at all, excessive manipulating might disfigure Zhai Su, yet an incomplete surgery might leave a possibility for the tumour to re-emerge. And in addition, the edge of the tumour wasn’t at a radian of right angle. In that case, such an operation required a higher precision.
