Caleb
I pulled out my key and unlocked the front door. I was tired, exhausted, and sweaty. I just came back from the gym and I want to soak in some warm water.
I shut the door and walk further into the house, the smell of dinner hits my nose and my stomach growls. I was gonna get in the shower first then eat dinner.
I head up the stair and immediately hop in the shower, since I was too lazy and impatient to run some bath water. Once I’m out, I wrap my towel around my waist and go to my room and change.
I head downstairs and stride to the kitchen. I made myself a plate and sat down at the table. It was pretty late since I was in the shower for a long time and basically dozed off on my bed before coming down here.
I was fucking tired
“Do I need to feed you?” I hear a voice emerge from the stairs as he walks over to me. It was Damien. He had on basic sweats without a shirt on. All of a sudden I was up. I kept my eyes looking at his green ones, trying not to let them wander below his neck.
“You look like you’re about to fall asleep sitting up. You alright?”
“I’m fine. I’m just tired. I pulled an all nighter because I forgot one of my assignments had to be turned in today, and I went to the gym right after and stayed there until it closed.” I explained as I pushed the food around with my fork.
“Basically, you haven’t had any sleep.”
“Basically. But it was worth it because I got a 86 on the assign—” A yawn erupts from my mouth and cover my mouth, “—assignment.”
“Well. I’ll make sure you eat so you can get some sleep.” He sits in the chair across from. He doesn’t necessarily watch me eat, but glances up from his phone every so often to make sure I don’t fall asleep.
Which I sadly do. I ended up dozing off while sitting up.
“Caleb, wake up.”
“Huh? Right, sorry.” I continue to eat and I finish half because I desperately wanted to sleep.
“Are you finished?” He asks before putting his phone away, looking up at me. I nod and he grabs
my plate. And I immediately put my head down.
“I’ll let you sleep there for a few minutes until I get done putting the food up, and taking out the trash.” I hear Damien announce from the kitchen. And I take this time to sleep, even just for a little while.
***Dream***
“You know I have you wrapped around my finger, and you’ll do whatever I say to save your baby brother.” I heard Nathan speaking. But I couldn’t find where his voice was coming from. It was pitch black.
“Nathan, where are you?” I look around until I spot him. He was holding Landon. My younger brother. My eyes widened as fear struck me.
“Get your hands off of him. You said you wouldn’t—”
“Wouldn’t touch him. I know, but what you did the other day at the store was unexpected.” I watch him pull out a pocket knife and put it up to Landon’s neck.
“Don’t, please I’ll do anything.” I pleaded desperately as I took a step forward.
“I don’t care. I know what and who you care about, and I can easily take them away from you if that’s what I gotta do.” Just as Nathan was about to cut his neck I let out a shout as I legged towards them but they disappeared the moment I reached out for them.
I felt tears building up in the back of my throat. This was a dream, a dream, a stupid dream. But it felt real, it felt so real.
I heard fire crackling behind me, and I whipped my head around. My jaw dropped and my gut twisted as I saw Milo.
Surrounded by fire. He was surrounded by fire, crying as he aggressively began coughing. Gasping for air like every breath could be his last. His eyes met mine as his lips quivered before opening, “I—I don’t wanna die.” His voice trembled before he fell to his knees clenching his shirt.
My hands cover my mouth as I watch him. My legs wouldn’t move, like I was stuck in place. Stuck watching him suffer in the fire. Tears blurred my vision as I tried blinking them away, desperately trying to move, but my legs were stuck.
This was like Deja vu
Not too far from the fire was Nathan. With a lighter and a large smirk on his lips. He stared at me, my reaction amused him, nothing but a mirthful look in his eyes.
“Nathan, stop doing this. He has nothing to do with you—”
“But he has something to do with you. I want you to see how easily I can take what you care about away from you.”
Again, everything disappeared
Not even 5 feet in front of me stood Nathan and Damien. Nathan glanced at me with a grin, and before I knew It there was a knife plunged in Damien’s stomach. I let in a sharp gasp as I watched him fall.
I ran and caught him before he hit the ground, and slowly went to the ground resting Damien again my body as the salty waterworks I had been holding back finally rolled down my cheeks like a waterfall.
“No, no, no, no, no. Damien—” I pressed my hand against where he was stabbed but It was no use. The blood kept coming.
I looked up at Nathan, “Please stop. I can’t take this anymore. Stop hurting them.” I sobbed as I held Damien tighter.
He kneeled down, to be eye level with me.
“Say your mine.”
“I’m—”
There was shifting in my arms, my eyes flickering to Damien as he let in and out weak breaths, “Caleb.” He lightly calls out. I press my lips together before looking back up at Nathan.
“…Never.”
“Well then.” He stands up. “Let’s hope you don’t regret that decision.”
***End of Dream***
I feel tapping on my shoulder and I let out a groan before sitting up. I look around and my gaze meets Damien.
“Caleb time to— you’re crying. Are you ok?” He asks with concern as he takes a step closer. Before I’m able to process anything I basically lung myself at him. Tightly wrapping arms around him.
He was startled by the sudden action, “Um… Are you alright?”
“Y—yea.” I let out weakly, and I could tell that he didn’t buy it, but he wrapped his arms around me hugging me back.
“You know you can talk to Me, Cameron, or Milo if something is going on. We’re your friends.” He hugged slightly tighter around my body.
“I know, it was just a bad dream.” I explained to him before pulling away and drying my face.
“Must’ve been a very bad dream if it made you start crying.” He used his thumb to gently wipe the rest of the tears that cover my cheeks. I felt my heart flutter from the simple but so sweet gesture.
“Now come on, you were literally snoring on the table, and I left you for 5 minutes.” He let out a chuckle before going over to turn the lights off and we were in pitch darkness.
“I wasn’t snoring, I don’t snore.” I let out a scoff of disbelief.
“Really? That isn’t what I heard.” I could sense his quirked brow.
