“Is Damien ok? He hasn’t come out of his room since yesterday.” I questioned aloud as I flopped down on the sofa next to Caleb and Cameron.

“Maybe he’s sick.” Cameron adds as he continues to type on his phone, not looking up at me. I turn to Caleb, thinking he has a thought. But instead he’s fiddling with his finger in his lap with a guilty expression.

“Caleb are you alright?”

“Yea, it’s just—”

“Sorry guys, I gotta take this call. Be right back.” Cameron stands up and presses the phone to his ear before leaving the living room.

I look back at Caleb, gesturing for him to continue, “Well, yesterday I heard shouting and things being thrown so I decided to check on him. And I— he…” He drops his hands to the side of him with a sigh, “He yelled at me to go away.
I think I made it worse.”

“Well he needs to eat, he hasn’t eaten since yesterday.” I push off the sofa with an exhale before looking back at Caleb. “I doubt he’s upset with you. He was probably just having a bad day, and you came at the wrong time.”

“You’re pretty good at cheering people up.” He apprised with a smile as he stood up from the sofa. “How about we make him something to eat?” He suddenly grabs my hand and drags me to the kitchen, and I felt my heart rate slowly speeding up as he held my hand. His secure grip, even if I wanted to pull my hand away, I probably couldn’t get away with only one yank.

“Do you know what he likes to eat?” Caleb asked before turning around perplexed. I was to focused on his hand clasped with mine I nearly missed what he said.

“I think he likes… noodles?”

“You think?”

“I’m sorry I don’t stalk him and his every move for you Caleb.” I retorted sassily as my brows slightly flattened.

“Yea, how dare you not stalk his every breath?” He jokingly responded as he let my hand go and crossed his arms. I instinctively tried to grab it back but immediately pulled my arm back, luckily he didn’t notice.

“Whatever, I think we should make him some noodles.” I step to the pantry for a pack of noodles and come back out. Caleb had already grabbed a boiler and was filling it with water.
Once the boiler was filled I dropped the noddles in the water and Caleb turned on the stove.

I hop on the counter before reaching for my phone and checking the time. It read 7:26. He hasn’t eaten all day, nor did he eat dinner yesterday. Did something bad happen?

Before I could finish my train of thought Caleb had walked between my legs and was reaching over me for something. And I felt myself getting hot down there.

He knew what he was doing

I had to focus on my breathing or I’d do something I would regret.

Once he grabbed whatever he needed he placed it beside me and sat down on the counter next to me with a smile.

“You know what you were doing.”

“What did I do?” He innocently blink as his smile stretched.

“You— nevermind. I’m gonna go get Damien. You make sure the noodles don’t burn, ok?” I hop down from the counter. He nods and I walk out of the kitchen.

Stop, you said you’d get over him. You can’t like him, he’ll leave you and you be devastated again.

I don’t want to go back to how I was

I knock on the door to Damien’s room, there was no response. I knock on the door again. Nothing.

Was he in his room?

I twist the door and walk inside. The light was off and the room was humid. I immediately started to feel sweaty.

Damien is stretched out on the bed. No shirt and shorts. He’s asleep. No way he’s sleeping this early. That’s isn’t the reason why I’m here, he needs to come out of this room and eat.

“Damien.” I call out to him as I walk closer to the bed and crouch down. I can barely see, the only light I have is the light from the hallway.

“Damien.” I tap him, he begins to shift and his face turns to face me, his eyes still closed.
His lips slightly opened as he lightly snores.

“Damien, you need to eat something.”

“Hm?” His eyes slowly flutter open before his he’s staring at me.

“We didn’t know if you liked noodles, but we made you some. You haven’t eaten since yesterday.”

He grumbles before sitting up and stretching his arms. “I’m not hungry, but tha—”

His stomach grumbles

“Not hungry? Sure. Now come on.” I stand up from crouching and look at him on the bed.

“I’m not in the mood. I just want to be left alone.”

“You need to eat, you can be alone after eating.” I counter as I cross my arms. I wasn’t taking no for an answer. He needed to eat.

“Milo, piss off.”

“How about you piss off with that attitude? You might be able to tell Caleb to go away, but I’m not leaving until you’ve eaten something.”

“I don’t want to, what can’t you understand?” He pushes off the bed, and stares down at me. I can tell he was getting upset by the tone of his voice.

“I’m helping you, what can’t you understand?” Before I knew it I was shoved into the wall and pinned there.

“I don’t need your help. I don’t need anyone’s help.” He darkly whispered.

“What the hell is your problem?!”

“Leave the room, and leave me alone.”
He demanded, but the grumbling in his stomach grew louder.

“No, I’m not—”

I felt a hand against my neck, squeezing on my throat where I can just barely draw in a breath.
I began to panic, this was all too familiar.

***Flashback***

The door was shut, and the room was pitch black. I couldn’t see anything, not even my own hands in front of me.

Before I knew it I was shoved again a closet by him, my back hit the knob, and I grumbled.

“What do you want?”

“I want you out of my life. And out of her life.” I was knee’d in my stomach and I fell to the floor.
“It’s like you mock me. My brother is in his prison because of you”

“What are you—” He grabbed me by the collar and once again shoved me into the wall.

“I hate you, I hate you so fucking much!”

My eyes finally adjusted to the darkness of the room and I saw the anger and hatred in his eyes. It was terrifying, causing a shiver to travel down my spine.

His hands clenched around my throat, and I couldn’t muster a breath. I clawed at his fingers tried kicking, but soon the lack of air started to get to me.

“I swear I’m gonna leave no traces of you.” He squeezed tighter as a grin grew on his face.
“Didn’t the same thing happened to you at that camp?” He then laughed, “Guess I’m finishing the job.”

Black spots slowly started to form in my vision from the lack of air. I was about to pass out. Just as I about to fall unconscious the door opened and I was dropped.

“Honey?! I—I can explain!”

***End of Flashback***

“Milo!” I heard my name being call, but it was at a distance. My body was being uncontrollably shaked as the voice kept shouting my name, sounding more desperate by the seconds.

My eyes jolted open

I was on the floor, involuntarily I looked around until my eyes meet something or someone’s.

“Thank god you’re ok.”

My breaths were shallow and shakey, I focused in my breath, Damien tried to help but I immediately pushed him away. He was the reason I was like this right now.

“Listen I’m sorry, I wasn’t think right when I—”

An agonized scream erupted from down stairs, the scream was Caleb’s. Immediately I jumped up and legged out of his room and downstairs.

And I saw Caleb with his hands hovering over his thigh as he desperately stopped himself from crying.

The boiler was on the ground along with the water and the noodles.

Damien finally made it downstairs, “What happened, are you okay—”

Once Caleb moved his hands, I was taken back by a large burn mark on hus thigh, the skin was completely burned off by the boiling water.
