A+ A-

A month had passed since the chaotic fight that had shattered the avengers and left them fractured and scattered. The world had turned upside down; Wanda, Clint, Sam, and Scott were still locked away in prison, while Alec, Bucky, and Steve had become fugitives, evading capture and seeking a way to clear their names. In the midst of this turmoil, Alec felt the weight of silence pressing down on him. It had been a month since he last spoke to Peter, and that absence gnawed at him.

Determined to set things right and restore some semblance of normalcy to their lives, Alec decided to reach out to the one person he believed could help him navigate the mess they found themselves in: his old friend and teacher, Charles Xavier.

With resolve coursing through him, Alec concentrated, envisioning the familiar surroundings of the x-mansion. A heartbeat later, he materialized in front of Xavier, who was seated at his desk, immersed in thought. The sudden appearance startled the older man, causing him to glance up with wide eyes.

– What’s up, Xavier? – Alec greeted, a mix of excitement and urgency in his voice, despite the slightly startled look on Charles’s face.

Xavier’s expression shifted from surprise to a welcoming smile, though he quickly masked it with concern.

– Alec, my boy. What brings you here? I assumed you were still with your team.

Alec ran a hand through his hair, frustration evident in his demeanor.

– Things have gotten complicated. The team’s split up, and I need your help to fix it.

Xavier nodded, leaning back in his chair.

– I see. The situation with the avengers has escalated quite dramatically, hasn’t it? Tell me everything.

Alec sighed, shaking his head with a mix of frustration and playfulness.

– I know you know what happened, Charles. You don’t need to ask. – he said, rolling his eyes, trying to lighten the moment – And you’ll probably disapprove, but my idea… it’s bold.

Xavier’s brows raised slightly, sensing the tension behind Alec’s attempt at humor.

– What is it you’re planning?

Alec took a deep breath, meeting Xavier’s gaze directly.

– I want to make people forget about the Sokovia Accords.

Xavier’s face remained calm, though a flicker of caution passed over his eyes.

– And by that, you mean erasing everyone in the world’s memories? – his voice was measured, but there was an edge to it, as if he was already bracing himself for a complicated discussion.

   Alec nodded slowly.

– Yeah. It’s the only way to undo the damage, to make things right again. The team’s broken, the world sees us as criminals, and it’s all because of those damn accords. If we can erase that, we can give everyone a fresh start.

Xavier remained silent for a long moment, contemplating the magnitude of Alec’s suggestion.

– You do understand what you’re proposing, don’t you? Alec, you know the ethical implications of such actions… You’re talking about altering the memories of every person on Earth. That’s not a decision to be taken lightly.

– I know. – the boy replied, his voice firmer now – I’ve thought about it, a lot actually. And I wouldn’t be suggesting it if I didn’t believe it was the only way to set things right. The accords divided us, turned us against each other. This whole thing… it’s a mess. I’m not saying it’s perfect, but it’s better than living in this chaos.

Xavier studied Alec closely, his mind already turning over the potential consequences of such an action.

– It’s true, the Sokovia Accords have done irreparable harm. – he said softly, considering Alec’s words – And it’s equally true that the world is in a state of turmoil because of it. But erasing memories… it’s a dangerous road, Alec.

– I know that, Charles. – Alec said, his voice urgent now – But the damage is done. The world sees us as threats, not heroes. My dad probably hates me now. I just… I need to fix this. I don’t see another way.

Xavier leaned forward, resting his elbows on his desk, his expression one of deep thought. After a long pause, he finally spoke, his voice careful and deliberate.

– If we are to do this, Alec, it must be done with precision. We cannot simply wipe out memories without considering the far-reaching effects. But… if you truly believe this is the only way, then I will help you.

Alec’s eyes widened in surprise, though relief washed over him.

– You’ll help?

Xavier nodded, though the gravity of the decision weighed heavily on his features.

– Yes. But we must proceed with caution. There will be consequences, Alec. We cannot play with the minds of the entire world without understanding the cost.

– I understand. – he replied, feeling the weight of Xavier’s words but also the flicker of hope growing within him – We’ll do it right. I’ll make sure of it.

Xavier stood up from his chair, his eyes meeting Alec’s with a solemn yet determined expression.

– Then we will begin planning. But remember, this is a choice that will affect the entire world. We must be prepared for what may come after.

Alec nodded, the enormity of what he was about to undertake settling on his shoulders. But for the first time in weeks, he felt like there was a way forward. A chance to fix what had been broken, to bring his friends back together, and to set things right.

A few days later, Alec stood outside the sprawling grounds of the Xavier Institute, the familiar sight bringing a wave of nostalgia. The mansion loomed ahead, a symbol of refuge and guidance, but today it felt more like a battleground of ethics and memories. He pushed open the heavy doors and stepped inside, taking a deep breath to steady himself.

As he made his way to Xavier’s office, he couldn’t shake the weight of the last few weeks. The division among the avengers felt like a wound that wouldn’t heal. He needed to fix this, and he knew he had the power to do it.

Xavier sat behind his desk, a serene presence in the chaotic world outside. Charles turned slightly at the sound of the door, his eyes lighting up with a warm welcome.

– Alec. – he said, his voice rich with curiosity – It’s good to see you again. How did everything go?

Alec ran a hand through his hair, anxiety evident in his demeanor.

– I have a plan, it isn’t perfect, but it will work. – he said, determination coating his words.

Xavier nodded, leaning back in his chair, his expression shifting to one of concern.

– Go ahead, I’m listening.

– I’ve been thinking about the people who are pushing for the Sokovia Accords. Politicians, military officials, public figures. These are the ones that matter, the ones who are driving this whole thing. We’ll focus on them, ensuring that not only the public forgets, but also those who pushed for it. I’ll use Cerebro for this.

   Xavier raised an eyebrow.

– And how do you propose to manage the ethical implications of such an action?

– Like I’ve said before, I understand the risks. – Alec said, leaning forward earnestly – But I believe we can do it responsibly. We can set mental barriers to prevent any collateral damage to their other memories. And we can leave the avengers untouched so they know the truth and can guide the team moving forward.

Xavier contemplated this, his fingers steepled under his chin.

– You would shield them from the memory wipe while altering the minds of the majority. It’s a delicate balance, and we must ensure that the world doesn’t notice any significant gaps.

– Exactly. – Alec replied, feeling the energy of determination rise within him – Once the memories are erased, we’ll also manipulate public records to fill in the gaps. There can’t be any trace of the Accords left. It’s the only way to bring everyone back together.

Xavier nodded slowly, considering the timeline.

– If we are to proceed, we should plan for three days from now. That will give us enough time to prepare Cerebro and ensure that we have everything in place.

– Agreed. – Alec said, relief washing over him – I’ll start mapping out the key individuals we need to target, and we can set up Cerebro together. I just want to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Xavier leaned back in his chair, his expression firm but thoughtful.

– We must also prepare ourselves for any unforeseen consequences. This is a monumental task, and while we’re trying to do the right thing, we cannot predict how individuals will react once their memories are altered.

– I’ll keep that in mind. – Alec promised – But I truly believe this is the best course of action. We have to give everyone a chance to start over, to come together again.

After several hours of discussion and planning, they concluded the meeting, each of them understanding the gravity of what lay ahead.

– Alec, – Xavier said, stopping him at the door – I have faith in you. Remember, while we possess great power, we also bear great responsibility. Let’s ensure we uphold that as we move forward.

– Thank you, Charles. I won’t let you down. – Alec replied with determination.

As he stepped outside into the cool evening air, the weight of the world seemed a little lighter. He had a plan, and with Xavier by his side, he felt ready to face whatever came next. The path to reunite the Avengers and erase the scars of the past had begun, and Alec was resolute in his mission.

•••

The evening sky was darkening as Alec made his way back to the abandoned warehouse where he, Steve, and Bucky were hiding. The atmosphere was tense, the weight of their current situation hanging heavily in the air. As he pushed open the door, the faint sound of conversation ceased, and both men turned to look at him, hope mingled with wariness in their expressions.

– I’ve got news. -Alec announced, his voice steady.

Steve, leaning against a makeshift table, raised an eyebrow.

– What’s going on?

– I spoke to a friend. – Alec began, his heart racing with the gravity of what he was about to propose – We have a plan to erase everyone’s memories of the Sokovia Accords. It’ll allow us to bring the team back together.

   Bucky straightened, his interest piqued.

– Erase memories? How does that even work?

– A combination of my telepathy and a machine to amplify it. – Alec explained quickly – We can target the key figures involved, ensuring no one remembers the Accords. I’ll leave the main avengers untouched so they know the truth and can guide everyone.

Steve stepped forward, skepticism etched on his face.

– And what about the ethical implications? You’re talking about manipulating people’s minds.

– I know it sounds extreme, – the boy admitted – but think about it, Cap. The Accords are tearing us apart. This is our best chance to start over without the shadows of the past weighing us down.

Bucky nodded slowly, considering the plan.

– If it works, we could reunite everyone. – he says – Could get your friends out of prison, too.

– Exactly. – Alec confirmed, feeling the weight of their hope – We’ll execute the plan in three days. It’s a big risk, but we need to take it. We can’t stay in hiding forever.

Steve exchanged a glance with Bucky before nodding.

– If you think this is the right move, I trust you. Let’s do it.

With a newfound resolve, Alec felt the tension ease slightly. They had a chance to reclaim their lives and mend the rift that had torn their team apart.

•••

A day later, Alex was going to rescue their friends from prison. He wanted to explain the plan to everyone involved, the ones who were keeping their memories.

Beneath the churning waves of the ocean, the underwater prison was a fortress designed to contain Sam, Wanda, Scott, and Clint, each trapped in their own cell, cut off from the world above. Outside, the currents raged, but inside, it was eerily quiet, save for the hum of the energy fields that held them captive.

Alec stood a few hundred yards away in the shadows of an abandoned shipping yard, his focus sharpening as he prepared to execute the first part of his plan. The ocean loomed ominously, but he had confidence in his abilities. He raised his hand, channeling his telepathy and energy manipulation to disrupt the prison’s power source.

With a swift motion, Alec concentrated on the prison’s power grid, his telepathy slicing through the energy like a hot knife through butter. The lights flickered ominously before going out entirely, plunging the facility into darkness. Alarms blared, and the guards rushed to assess the situation, creating chaos and confusion.

Using the distraction to his advantage, Alec closed his eyes and visualized the interior of the prison. With a sharp thrust of his will, he teleported into the holding area where his friends were confined. In an instant, he stood before them, their faces lighting up with surprise.

– Hello, guys. – he said with a smirk.

– What’s going on? – Sam asked, eyes narrowed.

– No time for details. We’re getting out of here. – Alec said. He concentrated again, focusing on the warehouse where Steve and Bucky were waiting.

With a bright flash, he teleported them out of the prison and into the dimly lit confines of the warehouse. The sound of their arrival startled Steve and Bucky, who quickly assessed the new arrivals.

– Thank god it worked.  – Steve exclaimed, relief washing over his face.

Before they could fully absorb the reunion, another portal shimmered and flickered before finally stabilizing, revealing the dimly lit interior of the warehouse. The familiar figures of Tony Stark, Natasha Romanoff, Rhodey, and Vision stepped through, looking bewildered by the sudden shift from their respective locations to this makeshift refuge.

– Okay, what just happened? – Tony said, scanning the room, his brow furrowed with confusion – One minute I’m figuring out how to break into a secure facility, and the next, I’m here?

– Nice teleportation trick, Alec. – Natasha remarked, crossing her arms with a smirk – But maybe next time, give us a heads-up?

– Sorry, not sorry. – Alec replied with a hint of a grin, his eyes sparkling with determination – But we don’t have time for that. I have a plan.

– A plan? – Rhodey echoed, looking at Alec with a mix of curiosity and skepticism – What kind of plan?

– Let’s hear it. – Vision said, tilting his head slightly, his synthetic voice calm and even – Given our current circumstances, any strategy is worth considering.

Alec took a deep breath, feeling the weight of their attention on him.

– Before I dive into the details, I need you all to understand something: we’re at a critical juncture. The team is fractured, but we all agree that the accords were a bad idea. So now it’s the time to settle our differences and get our freedom back.

Tony raised an eyebrow, skepticism still etched on his face.

– And you think you can just… what, erase everyone’s memories? – he said joking, but Alec’s face confirmed that yes, he was thinking that.

– Yeah, dad. – Alec replied, his voice steady and resolute – That’s exactly what I’m suggesting. We erase everyone’s memories of the Sokovia Accords, everything associated with them. It’s the only way we can start fresh and regain our freedom.

The room fell silent, the weight of his words hanging heavily in the air.

– Erase memories? – Natasha repeated, her voice a mix of disbelief and concern – Alec, that’s a dangerous road. People have the right to remember their choices, even if they’re bad ones.

– Do they? – Alec shot back, his eyes narrowing – Look where those choices have led us. We’re not just talking about the Accords here; we’re talking about our freedom ruined by the fallout.

Bucky, standing beside Steve, nodded in agreement.

– We’ve all lost something because of this. If erasing those memories means we can come together and fight for something bigger, I’m in.

– Alec, this is… I don’t know, ethically questionable. – Rhodey interjected, his brow furrowed – What about the consequences? What happens when people realize they’ve forgotten such a significant part of their lives?

– Look, I get it. – Alec said, his tone rising slightly – But think about it: the world is a chaotic place, and right now, we’re fighting against a system that’s stacked against us. We can’t afford to let emotions cloud our judgment. This isn’t just about us; it’s about the world. If we can reset this whole situation, we can return to being the heroes we were meant to be.

– Living without the fear and anger is great, but what about the truth? – Scott chimed in, looking from face to face – Don’t you think it’s a little manipulative? If people don’t remember the Accords, they won’t understand why we’re fighting.

Wanda, who had been quietly observing the discussion, spoke up.

– If the memories are gone, the pain goes with them. But what happens when new conflicts arise? What if the same mistakes are made again?

Alec felt the pressure of their doubts weighing on him, but he pressed forward.

– We can’t control the future, but we can control the present. If we give everyone a clean slate, we can unite our team and focus on the real threats out there.

– Your logic is sound, – Vision said thoughtfully – but what if we accidentally erase something important? Memories are complicated, Alec. You can’t just play god with people’s minds.

– Why not? – the boy shot back, a hint of defiance in his tone – We’re heroes. We’re meant to protect them, and sometimes that means making tough decisions for the greater good. If this is what it takes to save our freedom, then it’s a price I’m willing to pay.

Tony shook his head, clearly conflicted.

– I mean, I get it, son. You’re trying to do something good, but how good can it really be if it involves erasing people’s memories?

Sam stepped forward, his voice calm but firm.

– Alec, I trust you, and I understand your intentions, but we need to think this through. What happens when people find out? When they realize they’ve lost part of their lives? What if they hate us for it?

– I’m not letting that happen. – he said with certain – Guys, I’m really confident that I can make this without anything going wrong. It’s a chance to reclaim our lives, If we don’t take it, we’ll always be looking over our shoulders, waiting for the next hit.

Clint crossed his arms, considering Alec’s words.

– So you think this will make everyone forget everything? Just like that?

– Exactly. – Alec replied, his eyes shining with determination – With a friend’s help, I can amplify my telepathy and reach everyone who agreed with the Accords and then, the public. We wipe the slate clean. No memories, no guilt, just the freedom to make new choices without the shadows of the past hanging over us.

Scott glanced at the others, gauging their reactions.

– I’m not sure if that’s right. It sounds too much like mind control, and I don’t want to be part of something that takes away people’s agency.

– But it’s already taken away! – Alec exclaimed, raising his voice – The Accords stripped us of our choices. This is our chance to set things right.

Wanda’s brow furrowed as she looked at Alec, seeing the resolve in his eyes.

– Are you really prepared for what that means? To change everyone’s memories, even if it’s for the better?

– I am. – he answered, his voice steady – This isn’t just for us; it’s for everyone. We can create a world where we’re not shackled by a broken system.

Tony finally spoke, his expression serious.

– Look, I don’t like the idea of erasing memories, but if it means getting us back together, I’m willing to hear you out. But I want assurances. We need to make sure this doesn’t come back to bite us later.

– Agreed. – Natasha added, her eyes locked on Alec – We need a solid plan to handle the fallout. If we’re doing this, we need to be smart about it.

Alec nodded, relief flooding through him.

– I promise I’ll have everything prepared. And nobody will ever found out about this. We can’t afford to hesitate.

The tension in the room began to ease as they weighed the possibilities. With Alec’s determination and the team’s growing consensus, the path forward was becoming clearer, even if it was fraught with uncertainty.

– Alright then. – Steve said, glancing at the others for support – Let’s do this. Together.

As they gathered around Alec, a renewed sense of unity began to form, a shared purpose that could change everything.
