CHAPTER TWO;
and i’d swore i’d seen you before

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

You’re in a too-big bathroom trapped with a man who’s currently glaring at you like you’ve just killed his very sweet and very old grandmother. What do you do? That’s right. You play it cool.

Or at least, you try to. “Yo, man. What’s up?” You swear you used to be cool.

Silence is the only answer you receive, not that that’s surprising, but a little chit chat wouldn’t hurt, especially from the guy who looks like he’s already planning your murder in a bathroom of all places. Really, cheer up a little, Louis.

Speaking of murder, you internally start praying to whatever god will hear you out when the white-haired man slowly, menacingly takes another step towards you. You are definitely in danger.

You.” Louis’s low voice grates against your ears, feeling like sandpaper on your eardrums.

In a valiant effort to maintain your cool, you resist the urge to cover your ears with your hands. “Uh, yeah. Me. I think you’re in the wrong bathroom, Sir. Don’t worry, though, I already forgive you. Must’ve had some bad stomach problems, huh? Yeah, I understand, we all get those—”

—What did you do to me, you piece of shit?!

You immediately take a step back, exaggeratedly raising an eyebrow. “I have absolutely no clue what you’re talking about,” you bluff with all of your heart and soul, throwing in the coolest smolder you can conjure, but it seems Louis isn’t buying it for even a second.

Oh yeah, you definitely need to get out of here. There’s no chance you can take on a lunatic who always starts his day with a jog at 4:30 in the morning and survives solely on protein bars and shakes. This encounter might just end with you receiving the mother of all beatdowns, like something straight out of the annals of MMA history—you don’t even watch MMA!

“Woah, okay, calm down there, just a sec—” You clamp your mouth shut as Louis shows no signs of backing down, eyes blazing as he advances toward you.

Just as Louis lunges forward, his fist poised for a strike that could rival an MMA heavyweight bout, you pull off a slick maneuver reminiscent of your glory days, dodging him with the grace of a seasoned champion. Oh, wow, is this finally it? Has your cool finally returned? you thought to yourself.

No, the universe answers, because immediately after, you crash on the bathroom floor with a loud and almost comedic splat. “Ow,” you groan. Why does the universe seem to hate you so, even in a different world?

A low chuckle slips out of Louis’s lips as he looks down at you, a thin smile stretching across his face like a devil ready to tear you apart, limb from limb. You gulp, scrambling on the floor as you desperately back away from him. “Hold on! Violence is not the answer.”

“That so? Fine then.” Things just got a whole lot worse for you when Louis crouches down right in front of you. Your back touches the cold wall. “Let’s play a game, you and I,” Louis’s ominous voice slowly echoes in the bathroom. Fuck. Shit.

You shake your head frantically, forcing a nervous smile. “Uh, no. No games. I’m good, actually. Hahaha.” In response to that, Louis’s closed fist touches against the wall beside your head, leaving you with even less room to move away. Your heart sinks. Louis smiles wider, sending a cold shiver running down your spine.

“Are you absolutely sure?” Louis repeats, his brown eyes drilling into you with more intensity than an X-ray. You resist the urge to look away. “Because I don’t mind using a little violence.”

Your mind races as you scramble for an answer, all the while noting the absence of warmth that should emanate from Louis’s body being so near you. No distinct scent either—something you should be able to smell from a fellow alpha like him right about now. But in the air, there’s nothing else except for the lingering scent of the undoubtedly expensive bar of soap you just used moments ago in the bathroom.

Odd. Very odd. Very, very odd.

Suddenly struck by a peculiar sense of realization, you lift your chin in an exaggerated motion and defiantly cross your arms. “No,” you answer very slowly, drawing out the single word with deliberate emphasis.

Louis blinks, clearly taken aback by your response. He seems to be questioning whether or not your head is screwed on correctly. “What do you mean no?”

“What? You want the French version too? Non.”

Louis’s face inches closer to yours, but you can’t even feel his breath against your skin. You don’t need to be a genius to know that the guy whose face is way too close to yours is seething with fury.

“You asked for this,” Louis growls.

You brace yourself for the impact, but instead of feeling the heavy blow that would’ve landed you straight to the emergency room, you watch in disbelief as Louis’s fist passes right through you.

HAHAHA. Just as predicted!” you exclaim, almost relieved by the absurdity of it all. You’re certainly happy at this turn of events, but someone else definitely isn’t.

“Goddammit. Not again?!” Louis yells out in frustration, attempting and failing to land blow after blow on you, each punch passing through you as harmless as a gentle breeze. It actually kind of tickles.

You watch in silent bemusement as Louis continues to fruitlessly swing at you, a colorful string of curses pouring from his lips, almost enough to make you raise your eyebrows in alarm. Almost.

As Louis finally stops, heaving for air after his futile air punching spree, you hear a loud ping in your ear.

[ SYSTEM ]

[Name]
I have come to your rescue!
I’ll fix this problem right here!!
ᕙ( •̀ ᗜ •́ )ᕗ

[ NAME ]

huh??
how

Just then, you hear Louis’s panicked voice. “Wha– What the?!” You follow his downward gaze and witness the surreal sight of Louis slowly sinking through the floor. Wait. Phasing through would be a more accurate description, wouldn’t it? Hmm.

As you ponder the correct choice of words and tune out Louis’s horrified screeches of horror—sucks to be him—his figure finally vanishes from your now very silent bathroom. Ah, such beautiful silence.

You lean the back of your head on the wall as you breathe out a sigh of relief. Closing your eyes, you go back to contact the system.

[ NAME ]

[ SYSTEM ]

With a relieved smile, you gather yourself up, shaky legs and all, and unlock the bathroom door, ready to return to the safety of your hospital room.

“What a weird white-haired asshole,” you mutter to yourself as you collapse onto the bed, groaning as your body reminds you that you’re currently still in the middle of recovering. Goddamn, do you feel ancient.

Ping!

[ SYSTEM ]

[Name]…
Are you not going to ask
more questions about Mr. Louis
(╹ -╹)?

[ NAME ]

[ SYSTEM ]

Okay then!
Goodnight [Name]
♡(˃͈ દ ˂͈ ༶ )♡

You shift on the bed, finding yourself gazing up at the pristine white ceiling. Only now, in the silence that surrounds you, does the reality of your situation hit you like a wrecking ball to the nuts.

“Oh, well. At least I’m an alpha here,” you whisper to yourself before drifting off to sleep, forgetting for a moment the fact that bitching exists in the Omegaverse.

You poor, clueless soul.

You absolute buffoon of a man.

███ ████ ██ ████ ██████ ██████ ███ ████

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

If yesterday is indeed a thing that actually happened, then today marks your second day—or is it third? Ah, who’s counting, really?—awaken in the world of ‘Boyfriends from the Trash Bin’ as an alpha. To be precise, an alpha who has taken on the role of one Louis Murphy, who, let’s face it, looks nothing at all like you.

You’re way more handsome after all, your inner ego tells you with a smug grin to which you agree. Alas, it appears that even your handsome self has fallen victim to the universe’s curse.

Instead of waking up alone, basked in the glorious sunlight streaming through the large hospital windows, your eyes are met with the sight of a familiar, brooding not-so-gentleman with snowy white hair.

A string of curses immediately fills your head. Of all the people it could’ve been, why does it have to be Louis again? Why couldn’t it be Jude?!

“Get out of my room, ghost boy,” you say, causing Louis’s teeth to grit in frustration, reminding you of an angry, wet cat ready to pounce.

What did you just call me?” Louis demands loudly, tone incredulous. Oh, dear. Is he having hearing problems now? This is just sad.

You choose to ignore him, pushing yourself upright to glance at the clock on the wall. It reads 9 am. Shouldn’t a nurse arrive right about now to give you another check up or something? It’s been a long while since your last visit to a hospital. Plus, you don’t have much of a clue how some things work around here, especially in such a different world.

You sigh, turning your gaze back to the silent but still fuming Louis. He stares back, crossing his arms while he’s at it. You frown.

“Someone’s being awfully quiet today. The rowdy psychopath I met last night feels almost like a fever dream,” you say with an arched brow.

Louis’s left hand twitches. “I’m holding back so we can have a civil conversation. Be grateful, you moron.”

“Oh, yeah. I’m so grateful that you’re finally trying the non-violent approach, Louis. It almost brings a tear to my eye. Is that enough gratefulness for you?”

Louis’s gaze intensifies, his focus solely on you. Unconsciously, he takes a step closer. “So you do know who I am. Which means I’m right; you know something about all this weird ass shit I’m experiencing.”

Right, that. With your head finally back in the game, things are definitely… strange. Why does Louis still exist? The love interest you’re supposed to replace is still here living and breathing right beside you—well, maybe not so much on the breathing part, considering he’s more ghost than man at the moment.

Asking the system… might be futile effort, considering how useless it’s proven to be at times. But hey, might as well give it a shot.

[ NAME ]

system pls explain
why exactly louis is still around

[ SYSTEM ]

Ah, about that
Your friend over there

[ NAME ]

ew no
no friend

[ SYSTEM ]

Right…
So, a lot of errors came up when you
first transmigrated into this world, [Name]
And those errors include Louis’s incomplete erasure
Also, some of the functions on my end
aren’t all in working order because
we have yet to meet the main character of the story

[ NAME ]

so to find out more…
and unlock some of your functions
you mean to tell me that we’d first
have to find and meet neil?
also wow complete erasure huh
you sound like you’re gonna kill him

[ SYSTEM ]

WHAT?! NO
I’m not a murderer!
How could you…
.·°՞(≧□≦)՞°·.

You pause as a pale hand waves itself right in front of your face, breaking your focus. “Are you like… meditating as we’re talking? What the hell, dude? Show some respect.”

Respect, he says, as if the guy wasn’t there yesterday, ready to pound you into the bathroom floor with his fists, only to be thwarted by his own corporeal self. Wait, hold on. Fuck. Pound was definitely not the best choice of words. Dammit! Why is your brain malfunctioning so much?! This is why you’re not a morning person, you swear.

You purse your lips, your brows furrowing at the unamused ghost. “I’m in the middle of a very important conversation with someone else right now. Kindly shut up, Louis.”

“God, why are you so annoying?” Louis retorts, his expression suggesting he’s itching to throw another punch right your way like a special delivery. Too bad he can’t. You sure are glad knowing he can’t lay a finger on you. Just listening to him speak with that attitude is already enough of a chore as it is.

You find yourself grinning as you fire back, “Well, then it’s a great time for you to take a look in the mirror then, you bastard.” And with that, you proceed to ignore him once again, staying still with a smirk as he futilely punches straight through you once more. How embarrassing.

[ NAME ]

what should i do about louis??
he’s annoying
can you get rid of him again pls

[ SYSTEM ]

Even if I do, it seems like
Louis’s current self is very much bound
to you, [Name].
No matter how far I send him away,
in just a few hours he’ll be
teleported right back at your side
(╥﹏╥)

[ NAME ]

so im STUCK with him??
until when??!?!?!?
i need this maniac to
LEAVE ME ALONE

[ LOUIS ]

who tf are u calling a maniac

[ NAME ]

what
the
fuck

[ SYSTEM ]

Eh????????
But… How can this be??
Σ(゚口゚;)//

Your head snaps back up to Louis who’s still standing right by your bed, eyes now seemingly unfocused. In an instant, his eyes clear back up again, and this time, he grins at you. You think he’s about to say something but his eyes cloud themselves again.

[ LOUIS ]

so this is your little secret huh
caught you
you assholes

[ SYSTEM ]

Umm, how did you
get in here, Sir?
(Ëš0Ëš)!!

[ LOUIS ]

[Name] huh

[ SYSTEM ]

[ SYSTEM ]

╾━╤デ╦︻(•⤙•)

[ NAME ]

wow man

what did the system even do to you
besides almost deleting you that is

[ LOUIS ]

WHAT

Just then, the door to the room swings open with a loud creak, jolting you into a state of awareness amidst the confusion and panic swirling inside your head. A nurse? Right, that means you have to quickly piece your mind back together to a better state, especially after discovering that Louis can now just… contact the system too?

“Good morning, [Name],” a velvety voice says, instantly recognizable. Jude’s soft smile greets you, almost blindingly beautiful in this cursed and distraught morning. Oh, what a sight for sore eyes!

Just as you’re about to respond to Jude, a starkly different voice, filled with annoyance and devoid of any warmth, rings out loudly in the room. “Ugh. This weird maniac again.”

God, how exactly does one make a ghost shut up?
