When Kai had texted Noelle he realized he didn’t exactly know what he was going to tell her. They decided to meet up later in the day to chat and drink some coffee.
He plopped down on his bed and sighed. What did this mean for him? He wanted to kiss his best friend who was a guy.
The thought exited him but it also scared him. A lot. He wasn’t straight. Kai wasn’t exactly shocked about his sexuality since he’s never actually been attracted to any girls at all. The only person who he thought was beautiful had always been Nicolas.
The only person who made his heart flutter, and his cheeks blush had only been his best friend. How had Kai not realized this before?
But was he gay? Or..?
He wondered how he can figure it out. Maybe he was attracted to girls but he just didn’t meet any that attracted him. His mind ran back to Mary and he shuddered.
The way she had tried to make him like her was horrific but despite all of her efforts Kai had never felt the urge to do anything with her or pursue her. That doesn’t mean she wasn’t pretty but she just didn’t appeal to him. But now Kai knew how ugly she was in the inside and really wanted nothing to do with a girl like her.
Or any girls.
Did that mean he could like other guys? The thought of liking anyone who wasn’t Nicolas made him uncomfortable. He decided the best way to know was to look up celebrities and see if he thought they were attractive to him.
He looked up girls again to make sure, but as he thought he didn’t feel anything at all. They were all very pretty but not what he preferred.
Then he looked up men and scrolled through the pictures. He stopped at one and really stared at him. He didn’t know who it was, he figured he was a model. But what made him stop was the fact that he reminded him of Nicolas.
His black shirt was unbuttoned and his toned chest was the main focus of the picture. Kai looked at his face and realized that this man was very handsome. He looked back at his chest before groaning and throwing his phone over his head.
So he could be attracted to other guys. But he didn’t need to be because he had Nicolas so he decided no more looking at shirtless celebrities.

Kai sipped on his coffee as he waited for Noelle to come. Glancing around the small cafe he smiled, feeling contented. There was soft melody playing in the background and everyone in the cafe just looked very peaceful which made Kai happy.
He had done a bit more research to confirm his sexuality for himself and feel at ease and now he was sure of his feelings. He was gay and he liked Nicolas.
He wanted Nicolas to be the first person he tells about his new found discoveries but he was also terrified of his best friend’s reaction. And there was the part where he also had to tell Nicolas about his feelings and he definitely wasn’t ready for that one yet.
“Hi Kai.” He looked up to see Noelle and smiled at her, “Hey.”
She sat down from accros him and he slid her coffee, that he had ordered for her, to her and she gave him a grateful smile. Kai looked at Noelle and realized she looked different. Her dark skin was glowing and her eyes were twinkling with happiness.
“Did something happen?” He asked with a small smile and she looked away, biting her lip.
“Arthur and I…” She whispered looking around and Kai’s eyes widened.
“You guys…?” He also whispered and she nodded trying to contain her smile.
“How? When?” Kai eagerly asked and she looked down at her coffee.
“He planned a date for us yesterday to this concert and we had so much fun! Then we went to dinner and it was so romantic after that we went back to his place and decided to eat some caramel covered apples which are my favourites and drink a little bit of wine. One thing led to another and yeah.” She explained still speaking softly.
“That’s… that’s so sweet.” Kai said, he was so incredibly happy for his friend and reached over to squeeze her hand, “I’m so happy for you Noelle.”
“How was it?” He asked after a moment of silence, his curiosity growing and Noelle giggled.
“You really want to know?” She asked and Kai nodded, his cheeks flushing.
“It was good. Really really good. He was so good and he did this thing-“
“Okay okay stop.” Kai said covering his red cheeks and Noelle laughed and cooed at him.
“Aww Kai don’t be shy.”
“I’m not.” He muttered.
“Okay what did you want to tell me?” Noelle asked and Kai gulped looking down at his lap nervously.
He knew that Noelle would never judge him or say anything mean to him especially since she was extremely supportive to her little sister who came out as bisexual last year and she was always standing up to anyone who bullied someone for their sexuality.
But he couldn’t help but still be nervous and anxious. After all she was the first person he was going to tell and that would really make it real and there would be no going back.
“Kai? Are you okay?” Noelle asked worriedly and he looked up at her with wobbly lips.
He was so exited before when he first discovered his feelings because this was the first time he liked someone and that brought him a lot of joy. But now as he’s about to admit it he realized he’s scared. He’s terrified of what his friends, his family and what Nicolas would think of him.
“I..” he trailed off before clearing his throat, looking down at his lap once again and started his sentence again. “I’m gay. I’m gay Noelle.”
“Kai…” she said but he refuses to look at her.
“Kai look at me.” She firmly said and he hesitatingly lifted his head to connect their eyes
There was so much happiness and love in Noelle’s face that Kai’s eyes couldn’t help but tear up. She was smiling widely at him as her own eyes misted with moisture because of his.
“I love you Kai. And I’ll always love you no matter who you are and no matter who you like. You’ll always be Kai.” She said and he nodded smiling at her and blinking back the tears.
“I’m also very haply for you. I’ll be there with you through everything okay? I will always support you Kai.” She added.
“T-thank you. That means a lot to me Noelle.” He said and she beamed.
“Now…” She smirked.
“Was it Nic?”
“W-what?” Kai stuttered with wide eyes.
“Was it Nic that made you realize it?” She asked.
“H-how?” Kai was shocked. How on earth did she know?
“Kai we’ve been friends for almost four years now. You didn’t think I noticed?” She chuckled.
“Noticed what?” He asked defensively. There was no way she knew! He, himself had no idea until recently.
“The way you look at him. The way you always go to him for comfort. The way you know he’s always going to be there to take care of you.” Noelle said and Kai’s face flamed.
“That’s normal between best friends.” He muttered and she scoffed.
“It’s normal between best friends who like each other.” She replied.
“Are you going to tell him?” She asked cautiously and he groaned.
“I don’t know. How am I suppose to tell him?” He asked looking at her with a miserable look in his eyes which made her pity him.
“Tell him like you told me.” She shrugged and he shook his head.
“No I can’t do that. And what if he doesn’t like me back?” Kai whispered and his heart clenched at the thought.
“I’m not gonna sit here and tell you he does or doesn’t because that’s not my place to say. But if Nicolas doesn’t like you back, your feelings are not going to affect your friendship in the slightest because we both know Nic and he’s not letting you go. And if he does like you then you’re going to have an even more beautiful relationship then you already have. It’s for you to decided whether you’ll make that step to reach that point in your relationship.” She said.
“Okay. I will tell him.” Kai nodded and Noelle squealed.
“Okay call him!” She said and his eyes widened.
“Not now!” He exclaimed and she groaned.
“Then when?” She asked.
“Um.” He paused to think and then he had the brightest idea. “Friday! It’s thanksgiving and I’ll tell him when he comes over to dinner like usual.”
“That’s a good idea.” She nodded approvingly and he grinned, proud of himself.
He was going to tell Nicolas he liked him.
