Daou POV

Daou was going to yell at whatever idiot that walked into his office next. He sat in his office rubbing the bridge of his nose. This week had been hell. They were going through a merger and it seemed like 1 thing after another was going wrong. His father had entrusted this project to him and he really wanted to do good, to make his father proud but he was feeling like an idiot. The documents they needed to verify were missing, the employees of the financial firm they were about to inquire were protesting as word had spread that once the merger was finished they would all be let go. Daou sighed it was true they planned on cutting dead weight but if you did your job and was good there was no fear to be had. Daou tried to put out fires where he could but with back-to-back meetings, he was spread thin.

“Sir,” his secretary’s voice called over his intercom.

“What?” He called back.

“You have a meeting with the analysts at 2 pm.” She informed him. Daou sighed looking at the clock that read 2:05 pm

“I’m coming.” He said as he stood up fixing his suit and made his way out of his office to the conference room. He had plans to join friends after work tonight for one of their birthdays and was ready for this day to be over with.

Daou sat in the conference room listening to the presentation from the financial firms top analysts but he couldn’t pay attention. There was an omega that was very much distracting him on the other side of the table. He wasn’t distracting because he was an omega and his alpha side was driving him insane, because of the scent Daou was picking up, it was fucking delicious. It was the fact this was the most beautiful man he had ever seen, omega, alpha, or beta. He was sure this was the first time he had seen him but something about his scent and looks were giving him Deja vu. Daou didn’t mean to toot his own horn but he knew how handsome he was. He had gotten used to the stares and the flirting hell he still had people throwing themselves at him on a daily basis however, this boy hadn’t even looked at him. Not one singular glance in his direction since he had walked into the conference room.

“Sir?” The analyst who apparently just finished his presentation called out to Daou.

“What?” Daou asked quickly, pulling his attention away from the boy across the table.

“Do you have any questions?” The man asked.

“No,” Daou heard a scoff upon giving his answer and realized it had come from the boy across the table.

“If you do please feel free to contact our team manager.” The man pointed to the Omega.

“Is there a reason the team manager was not the one presenting?” Daou asked, flipping through the papers that he had been handed at the beginning of the meeting.

“My team is perfectly capable of giving a presentation.” The boy laughed, still not looking at Daou.

“You know it’s quite rude to not look at the person you are talking to,” Daou smirked as the boy’s eyes finally locked with his. Daou paused, there was something in those eyes that Daou couldn’t make out.

“Do you know it is quite rude to not even pay attention in the meeting YOU,” the boy pointed at him. “Requested?” Daous’ face immediately grew red as the boy stood, he was quickly followed by his team. “Thank you for your time, again if any of you,” the boy addressed the other executives at the table. “Please reach out.” He gave a look to Daou before turning on his heels and leaving the conference room.

“The hell you do to him?” His best friend and co-executive Joong asked. “It got like 20 degrees colder in here.” Joong laughed, pretending to shutter.

“Why would I know? I’ve never even met him.” Daou grumbled again the sense of Deja vu smacked into him. He hadn’t met him before, right?

“Are we still on for Geler’s party later?” Joong as they walked out of the conference room. Joong was younger than him but they still had the same friend circle for the most part. Joong was like a little brother to him.

“Of course. I may be late. I have to run to the grocery store to get cat food.” Daou sighed as they reached his office.

“Maid got the wrong kind again?” Joong laughed. “You spoil those cats like no tomorrow.” He had 2 cats and was about to have a lot more as his female was pregnant and due to pop any day now. His attention was immediately taken away when that scent hit his nose once more. His eyes focused on the omega who was walking towards the elevators past his office with a beta female. Daou had to keep himself from chasing after the boy. He let his eyes linger on the plump ass that was not hidden by any means by the suit pants he was wearing. “Ou!” Joong shouted, accompanied by the snap of his fingers.

“Do you know him?” Daou asked, nodding towards the Omega who just stepped onto the elevator.

“No, the Director of the firm just transferred him to this one to help with the merger. He is originally from the south.” Joong said as he also stared after the boy. Something about another alpha staring at the boy had Daou wanting to bare his teeth to Joong but he quickly shoved that barbaric feeling down.

“No like from somewhere else?” Daou asked. “I keep having this deja vu feeling.”

“Who knows, maybe you met him on a trip down south,” Joong said, wiggling his eyebrows at him. Daou scoffed at him, yes in his college days he particularly enjoyed himself with the abundance of omegas, betas, and the occasional alpha who threw themselves at him but his Senior year he stopped all of that.

“I haven’t had anyone in my bed in almost a year,” Daou sighed as he watched the elevator doors close on the omega. “I can’t shake this feeling that I know him.”

“Well, worry about it another time, get your ass to work so we can get out of here,” Joong said, slapping Daou on the ass as he walked away towards his own office. Daou stood there a moment longer, the scent of the boy still lingering in the air. It was similar to eucalyptus but with more honey undertones, sweeter, it was weirdly calming as it was exciting. Like Daou had felt relief when he first encountered the smell like his body had finally found what it had been looking for. He knew it would come to him eventually why it was giving him deja vu but until then he wasn’t going to get the boy out of his head.

…..

“Chance watch out!” A voice called from down the aisle that Daou recognized as he watched a little boy smack into a lady’s cart.

“Diamond?” Daou asked, approaching the man and the boy. “Hey!” Daou said, grabbing the man into a hug as he stood. “How are you?” Diamond was his ex’s little brother.

“Daou!” He exclaimed back, letting go of him from the hug and grabbing the little boy’s hand. Daou looked down at the little boy and was taken aback. It was oddly like staring into a mirror if only his hair had been longer. “I’m good and you?”

“Good,” Daou said, not taking his eyes off the boy. “And who’s this?” He asked, smiling at the boy who now hid behind Diamond’s leg.

“No one,” came a voice from the front of the aisle. Daou was smacked in the face with that intoxicating smell. The omega. He quickly scooped up the boy from behind Diamond. “I told you to watch him,” He hissed at Diamond.

“I was! He is quick,” Diamond whispered back cowering from the omega.

“I’m sorry, who is he to you?” Daou asked, looking back and forth between the young alpha and the omega.

“Oh, it’s complicated,” Diamond said, rubbing his hand on the back of his head like he was embarrassed. Daou stared, Diamond, dating an older omega with a kid? Daou knew there was no way Diamond was the father of the boy guessing his age diamond would have been 15.

“It’s none of your business,” The omega growled leaving the aisle with the boy.

“Do I know him?” Daou asked Diamond, genuinely confused over the hostility he was receiving from the omega.

“Maybe? I don’t know, he and Mang weren’t exactly close,” Diamond said, mentioning his ex. Daou cocked his head to the side, him and Mang knew each other?

“Diamond!” Daou heard the omega shout from somewhere over in one of the next aisles.

“Sorry, I gotta go, I’ll tell Mang you say hi!” Diamond called as he scurried out of the aisle before Daou could tell him it probably wasn’t a good idea to do so. Mang was one of his best friends, her father and his were best of friends and decided without asking Daou they were going to get married in his senior year of college to help Daou clean up his party player boy image. Mang had announced their engagement to the entire school before Daou had even known. She walked up to him with a huge ring on her finger that Daou had no idea where that had come from and calling him fiance, that had completely blindsided him. That entire facade lasted a month before his father and Mangs had a falling out over what? No one knew. He and Mang stayed friends for the rest of college and then she moved to the States after graduation and started dating an asshole of an alpha that had her and him butting heads to the point they no longer talked.

‘Did Mang know this Omega?’ Daou asked himself, he could ask Film, Diamond, and Mangs older brother but that man was almost impossible to get ahold of with how busy his father kept him. Daou sighed, shaking his head, grabbing a box of the correct cat food, making a mental note to donate the incorrect brand he had at his house, and proceeded to check out. Maybe the world just wanted him to live in the deja vu state cause that certainly was what it felt like.

Daou made it to the restaurant Geler’s birthday party was being held, about an hour late. He walked in and was immediately greeted by all of his longtime friends.

“I told you he was coming!” Joong said, standing to place his arm around Daou.

“Sorry I am late,” Daou said, shaking off Joongs arm and walking around the table to hug his friend. “Happy birthday,” Daou said, hugging his friend taking the seat next to him.

“It’s fine we are still waiting on Poon,” Geler laughed.

“My god, it’s been ages since I have seen him, what has he been up to?” Daou asked, digging into the dishes that were already on the table.

“Not sure, I saw him the other day at the store and invited him, you’ll never guess what!” Geler said, smacking Daous shoulder. “He is dating an omega!” Daou froze at that. Poon dating an omega didn’t make sense considering the amount of drunk flirting he had seen the man do with alphas.

“Are you sure?” Daou asked, laughing, piling his pile high with food.

“Yes, he was with him at the store. I only saw him for a split second but my god it was the most beautiful omega I have ever seen.” Geler said downing what was left of his drink.

“Yeah, tell Benz that.” Daou laughed as he began to shovel food into his mouth. Benz was Gelers fiance, absolutely beautiful and smart, she was perfect for Geler.

“I like my balls attached to my body,” Geler laughed. “Speaking of the devil here he is!” Geller stood as Poon made his way in. He was greeted all of their friends as he took a seat next to Daou.

“Hey, man!” Poon said, greeting Daou with a hug. “How’s life?”

“Good busy but good.” Daou smiled, focusing more on the food than the people having conversations all around him he had eaten all day. He brought a spoonful of food up to his mouth and that’s when he smelt it. Eucalyptus with honey. It was pouring off of Poon. It couldn’t be. Daou asked himself as he leaned in closer to Poon.

“You okay dude?” Poon asked, leaning back from him. Betas’ sense of smell wasn’t as sharp as Alphas so he probably didn’t notice but every alpha at this table could tell the scent of an omega was lingering on him. Daou was about to answer him when a phone ringing interrupted them as Poon pulled his phone from his pocket. “Hello?” Poon said into the phone. “It’s in the box labeled kitchen junk drawer.” Daou started putting his food in his mouth while listening to the conversation. “A few hours, you want me to bring you anything?” Daou watched as Poon started piling food onto his plate. “Okay, see y’all soon.” Poon dropped his phone on the table and Daou was able to see his screensaver contained a familiar face, 2 actually.

“Your family?” Daou asked, nodding to Poon’s phone. His eyes grew wide as he snatched the phone off of the table.

“My friend and godson,” Poon said, stuffing the phone back in his pocket. Daou was not intrigued; this omega who was hanging around Diamond early was also close enough to Poon that he was the boy’s godfather.

“That omega,” Daou said casually. “Do I know him?” Daou watched as Poon’s hand twitched as he brought food to his mouth.

“I don’t think so. Why?” Poon asked not looking at Daou and was now extremely focused on his food.

“How did you meet him?” Daou asked, trying to piece together this puzzle.

“Oh, I’ve known him since elementary school,” Poon said, now looking at Daou. Daou made an ‘oh okay’ face, dropping the subject. It didn’t appear Poon was lying. But daou knew something was up cause how did Diamond know him? Poon didn’t know Diamond.

“Poon! What have you been up to where did you disappear to?” Joong shouted from across the table.

“I transferred my Junior year,” Poon told Joong.

“Why?” Daou asked. He remembered Poon being at the school one day and then gone the next and he had always questioned it but never really dug into it. He had too much going on, it sounded selfish and it was but it was the truth.

“Oh my godson was born, my friend needed help,” Poon said in a quiet voice.

“That omega I saw you with the other day?” Geler asked, making the raising eyebrows motion at Poon.

“Yes, but it’s not like that,” Poon said, sticking his hands up in defense.

“Omega?” Joong asked, suddenly interested in their conversation.

“A hot omega,” Geler informed Joong.

“No-”

“If he isn’t yours, set me up with him,” Joong said, cutting off Poon.

“Yeah, send him Joongs way,” Geler said, pointing across the table at Joong who smiled at him. This entire conversation was irritating Daou.

“Wait, do you have a picture?” Joong asked, cutting Poon off again.

“Yeah, show us a picture!” Geler yelled, laughing.

“Stop!” Poon yelled, clearly overwhelmed with the request. The table fell silent. Daou finally released the breath he had been holding in. He was a second away from flipping the table at his friend’s requests over the omega. “He is off limits,” Poon said in a stern voice.

“If you wanna keep him for yourself just say so,” Joong grumbled looking down at his plate.

“I like alphas, moron,” Poon informed Joong as Daou laughed and Joong choked on his food. This confession ended up changing the entire conversation at the table of all their friends trying to now set Poon up with their single alpha friends. Daou had missed doing this with his friends. It was nice to just relax, something he was not familiar with. But still, he knew something was strange about that omega and he needed to get to the bottom of it.

Offroad POV

Offroad was pissed. He knew this was some kind of sick joke of his fathers. He sat in the conference room retyping out some data reports into a new spreadsheet. His father had called him around Chance’s 5th birthday and advised he was selling the Bangkok branch and that he needed Offroad to oversee the merger as he was the top analyst for both branches. He agreed thankfully Poon, his best friend and godsend had just accepted a job offer in the city and was moving back. He had cried when he had called his friend in the middle of the night when Chance was about 6 months old, as Offroad was sleep deprived and starving because he couldn’t remember to eat, telling him he couldn’t do it anymore. His mother helped where she could but with her own demanding job, she wasn’t someone Offroad could depend on 24/7. Poon had shown up the next morning with Offroads favorite food, took Chance from him, and told him to eat, shower, and sleep, Offroad did just that.

He slept until the very next morning and woke to find Poon asleep with Chance on his chest out on the couch. As Offroad made breakfast for them Poon said he was going to transfer. Offroad tried to convince him otherwise but Poon wouldn’t hear of it. So Poon transferred and stayed with him and his mother helping Offroad raise Chance and stay on top of his studies. Chance adored him as much as Offroad did. Their relationship was strictly platonic but Offroad believed Poon was his soul mate. Chance knew Poon was not his father but Poon was the closest thing he had to one. Offroad could feel the pain tug on his chest. He could have settled down with another alpha god knows plenty offered and could have given Chance a real father figure and family but he couldn’t ever bring himself to accept any dates. Other than a handful of failed first dates and yearly one-night stands when his heats just became too much, his love life had been drier than the summer air in Thailand.

“You’re a hard omega to track down.” a voice whispered in his ear causing Offroad to jump out of his seat spinning around to face Daou. “Whoa sorry I thought you heard me come in,” Daou said, reaching his hands out to steady Offroad who smacked them away.

“Don’t touch me,” Offroad growled. Daou put his hands up as if to say ‘Okay here are my hands I’m not touching you.’ “What do you want?” Offroad said stepping back from Daou. His scent filled his nostrils and he still smelled exactly the same as Offroad remembered. He smelled like warmth. If warmth had a smell. With a hint of vanilla. Something about the scent had Offroad wanting to roll around it all day and that was a dangerous thought.

“Where do I know you from?” Daou asked sitting down in one of the chairs

“You don’t,” Offroad scoffed, crossing his arms over his chest.

“You see when I first saw you in this very room, I thought I didn’t either. That you just smelled and looked like someone I couldn’t remember.” Daou said standing back up and walking towards Offroad who was now backed up against the table. “But then you were with Diamond,”

“So what?” Offroad said, putting his hands up against Daou’s chest to stop him from coming closer.

“Then Poon,” Daou said. Offroad eyes grew wide. He hadn’t realized that Daou had made the connection yet between him and Poon. “See when I asked about you he made that face as well,” Daou said, now caging in Offroad against the conference table. “So what is it? Did we sleep together?” Offroad froze. He didn’t know what to do. He wanted to punch the man in front of him but he was currently releasing pheromones that were making his head dizzy.

“No,” Offroad stuttered out but it didn’t sound convincing.

“Ah, so that’s why you are so familiar,” Daou said into Offroads’ ear. “What are you mad I forgot our one special night together?” Offroad snapped awake at that comment and brought his knee up directly connecting with Daous’ privates. Daou screamed in pain dropping to the floor.

“Don’t ever come near me again,” Offroad growled, standing over Daou. He gathered his belongings and rushed out of the conference room, not stopping until he was safe in his car and let out the breath he had been holding in. Stupid fucking jerk! Offroad screamed in his head smacking his steering wheel. He had to remain strong not for his sanity but for his son. He needed to finish this job and be on his way back to his life that had no complications and no alphas just him and his son.
