what is happening?Â
I wanted to shadow travel to Manhattan as fast as possible, but Damian didn’t let me. He said that he studied how I act after shadow travelling and decided it was too dangerous.
So, I summoned Jules-Albert, my French undead Chauffeur given to me by my father. Jason yelped and asked what that was. I explained.
“You have a zombie chauffeur?”
I nodded. But his bewildered expression wouldn’t leave. “Don’t you also have a chauffeur?”
We arrived in Manhattan, I ran up the stairs, having missed Sally. I had often visited the woman, who called me her extra son. I called her Aunt Sally, as she was in fact, my aunt.
When I entered the hallway, I heard a lot of noice coming from the apartment. A man in a bathrobe was yelling at someone in the door, telling them to stop being as loud.
“Ah, hi, Nico!” I heard the voice say. I recognised her as Annabeth Chase, the smartest of the bunch. “Who are those two?”
I presented Damian and Jason to her. And Jason helpfully added that Damian was my boyfriend, (which was yet to become official) leaving us both blushing.
Annabeth let us in, while attempting to reason with the neighbour. Inside, the room was almost completely loaded. I could see Percy, Leo, and Jason on the couch. Around stood, and sat, Pollux, Tyson, Clarisse la Rue, Nyssa and Harley from the Hephaestus Cabin, Lou-Ellen Blackstone, daughter of Hecate, Austin Lake, son of Apollo, Malcolm Pace from the Athena Cabin, Damien White, son of Nemesis, and Chiara Benvenuti, the daughter of Tyche with whom I used to practise my Italian.

Percy looked up from his conversation and spotted me. He greeted me.Â
“What happened? Why did you fail?” I asked harsher than that I meant to.
Percy explained how the Joker’s legions of monsters just went through the borders of the camp. He explained how none of them were prepared for the battle, leaving most of them unweaponed and unable to defend themselves. He explained how many of them died, and others were taken by the trickster. Some campers, like Annabeth with her invisibility cap, decided that the only way to survive was to flee, and so they did.
“So now we hide!?” I demanded.
“We are not hiding. This is a strategic retreat. We weren’t able to defend ourselves from them then, what makes you think we won’t die now?”Â
“Now you have me,” I heard a calm voice say. It was Damian. “I have faced that lunatic many times before, if you demigods just distract the- goons, then Todd and I could send him back to Arkham.”
