Unspoken Bonds and Hidden Feelings

“Talking”

‘Thinking’

༻﹡﹡No One’s POV﹡﹡༺

Seeing Baji frozen for a moment, Takemichi took the chance to bolt, his heart pounding in his chest.

Without thinking twice, he turned and ran as fast as he could, hoping to get far enough before Baji came to his senses.

Unfortunately for Takemichi, that moment of hesitation didn’t last long. Baji snapped back into reality, his sharp eyes quickly locking onto Takemichi’s retreating figure.

Takemichi was fast, but Baji was faster.

Takemichi had barely managed to take two steps when he felt a sharp tug on his scalp. His breath caught in his throat as Baji grabbed his hair from behind, despite it being short.

The sudden yank made Takemichi stumble slightly, and he winced in pain.

“Where do you think you’re going, huh?! Running away after what you’ve done?”
Baji spat, his voice filled with fury.

His grip tightened, sending sharp stings through Takemichi’s scalp.

“I-I don’t care if you’re a female or a male!”
Baji growled.

His frustration was evident in his harsh tone, but as his fingers stayed entangled in

Takemichi’s hair, something unexpected caught his attention. He paused, his anger momentarily sidelined by a strange sensation.

The softness of Takemichi’s hair felt… different.

It wasn’t the usual rough or greasy texture Baji was used to. His hair felt clean, smooth, almost like strands of silk slipping through his fingers.

Baji blinked, momentarily thrown off by the unexpected observation.

‘What the hell…?’
He thought, his grip loosening slightly in confusion.

He had been around plenty of people, mostly female, but their hair was often neglected—messy, dirty, or dry like straw.

And the male? They only seemed to care about appearances when trying to impress—Court a female. But this guy…

Baji’s gaze dropped to Takemichi, noticing not just his hair but also his smooth, fair skin.

His clothes were simple, but his overall appearance was strikingly clean. His skin was pale, unmarred by dirt or dust.

It confused Baji.

He’d never seen a guy this clean, let alone one with such delicate features.

Shaking his head to push away the thoughts, Baji forced himself to refocus. He couldn’t let himself get distracted.

“Since this is your first offense—offending me, that is—I’ll give you a chance to apologize”
Baji muttered, his voice lower, but still firm.

“Admit your mistake and apologize to the witch doctor, and… I’ll let you off the hook.”
His words grew quieter toward the end, his confidence faltering as the tips of his ears began to burn with embarrassment.

But Takemichi, still struggling under Baji’s grip, was too consumed by his own pain to notice the shift.

His scalp throbbed where Baji had pulled, but he refused to back down. His sense of justice flared hot inside him, refusing to be extinguished by threats or brute strength.

“Let go of me, you brute!—”
Takemichi snapped, his voice sharp as he tried to yank himself free.

Baji froze. The word brute caught his attention. But what really struck him was what came next.

“—Man!”
Takemichi shouted in English, a word foreign to Baji’s ears.

The unfamiliarity of it caused Baji to blink in confusion.

Man? What was that supposed to mean?’
Baji mental thought, confused.

But his moment of confusion was brief. Seeing Takemichi’s refusal to admit fault made Baji’s anger flare once more. His grip tightened again, though not as harshly as before.

He might not know the word, the he knew he was being insulted(—Wow, the audacity when you did it first)

“Call me that again, and I’ll make sure you regret it!”
Baji threatened, his voice rumbling with frustration.

“I’ll beat you to a pulp if you don’t admit what you did!”

Takemichi shot Baji a furious glare, his sapphire-blue eyes burning with defiance. Those eyes—brilliant and unyielding—caught Baji off guard. He wasn’t used to seeing eyes like Takemichi’s, especially not in someone challenging him.

The intensity in Takemichi’s gaze was almost hypnotizing, as if the blue depths held a determination that couldn’t be extinguished.

Takemichi’s eyes were striking, a deep and vivid blue like the clearest summer sky. In the light, they seemed to shimmer, holding a mysterious quality that made them seem almost otherworldly.

Despite the defiance etched into his expression, there was something about his eyes that made it hard to look away—eyes that could be soft one moment, and as sharp as ice the next.

“Go ahead!”
Takemichi snapped, breaking Baji’s trance.

“Beat me up! Beat me to death if you can!”
He was breathing heavily, a mix of Fear, adrenaline and anger surging through him.

Baji raised his fist, ready to strike.

His muscles tensed, but as he looked at Takemichi’s flushed face, something in him wavered. The sight of Takemichi’s cheeks, flushed with both frustration and the cold air, made Baji falter. His lips were pressed into a firm pout, making his face look even more delicate.

Baji’s raised fist hovered in the air, unable to follow through.

‘Why can’t I hit him?’
He gritted his teeth in frustration.

He tried to force himself to strike, but his body refused to comply. There was something about this guy—something about his face, his hair, his eyes—that made Baji hesitate.

Instead, he spat out the words harshly.

“Admit your mistake!”

Takemichi’s stubborn gaze only hardened.

“I won’t admit to anything! I didn’t do anything wrong!”
He retorted, his voice shaking with righteous anger.

Baji scowled, his irritation rising again.

“Stop talking nonsense! Just admit it!”
He paused briefly, his eyes inadvertently flicking to Takemichi’s lips—soft, pink, and frustratingly distracting.

Baji’s face flushed a little more, and he shook his head, trying to snap himself out of whatever trance he was falling into.

“I told you, I won’t admit to something I didn’t do!”
Takemichi shouted back, his voice unwavering despite the pain in his scalp and the tension in the air.

For a moment, the two stood locked in their standoff, both refusing to back down, each with their own sense of pride and justice.

.â—  . â—  . â—  . â— . â—  . â—  . â—  . â— . â—  . â—  . â—  . â—

Just when the tension between Baji and Takemichi seemed at its breaking point, the sound of hurried footsteps approached, and the witch doctor, Lang Zhu, finally returned.

His wrinkled face showed a mix of exhaustion and urgency, as he had just ventured to Baji’s cave to gather some herbs and intended to introduce the newcomer, Takemichi, to Baji under more peaceful circumstances. Unfortunately, when Lang Zhu had arrived at Baji’s cave, he found only Baji’s mother, who mentioned that Baji had headed off elsewhere.

Alarmed, Lang Zhu immediately returned to his own dwelling, but nothing could have prepared him for the sight that greeted him upon his return.

His eyes widened in horror at the scene before him. Baji, towering over Takemichi, had one hand viciously gripping the smaller male’s hair, his other fist raised threateningly in the air.

Baji’s face was twisted in rage, his eyes wild, and the male in his grasp, Takemichi, looked both furious and defiant, despite the clear pain he was in.

Lang Zhu’s heart nearly stopped—he knew Baji had a short temper, but this?

This was far beyond what he ever expected.

“Baji!”
Lang Zhu’s voice cracked like a whip as he rushed forward, placing himself between the two.

His eyes blazed with anger as he pushed Baji back, immediately yanking his hand away from Takemichi’s hair.

“What in the world do you think you’re doing?”

Takemichi staggered backward, instinctively clutching the back of his head where Baji had been pulling on his hair. His scalp throbbed painfully, but his stubborn pride kept him standing tall, refusing to show any weakness.

Lang Zhu, however, had all his attention focused on Baji, his eyes glaring with barely contained fury.

“You brat! Have you lost your mind? What could possibly possess you to be so cruel to such a harmless, young male? Is your heart made of stone?!”

(Btw, if I (—Villa) hasn’t mentioned this but they still don’t know Takemichi’s aged, but if We did let us know where)

Baji, taken aback by Lang Zhu’s outburst, frowned. He crossed his arms defensively, though the fiery anger from earlier was already beginning to fade.

“I… I thought he stole something from your cave. I was just teaching him a lesson. How was I supposed to know?”

Lang Zhu’s face turned red with rage, his aged body trembling as he gripped his staff tighter, looking like he was about to strike Baji himself.

“Stole something? What could he possibly steal from this rundown cave of mine?”
He gestured around dramatically, emphasizing the meager and worn state of his home.

“This little male has done nothing but good since he arrived! He didn’t come here to steal! He came because of his cubs, and he even helped me save Seishu’s life! Do you hear me, Baji? He saved Seishu from the brink of death when we couldn’t cure his fever! And now, after all that, you nearly beat him senseless over nothing!”

Baji’s eyes widened in shock.

The anger and defensiveness drained from his face, replaced by confusion and disbelief.

“W-wait, what? Cubs? Seishu? You mean Seishu from the Black Dragon gang? The one who’s always obsessed about his gang? That Seishu?”

Lang Zhu nodded, still glaring.

“Yes, that Seishu—Wait, Seishu isn’t like that! Ahen—The one you know very well. And this male”
He pointed at Takemichi, who was still standing nearby, rubbing his scalp

“Is the one who saved his life. Does that sound like a thief to you?”

Baji stared at Takemichi, his expression softening into something almost apologetic. He couldn’t believe it.

The male in front of him, the one he had just accused of stealing, was not only innocent but had actually helped someone close to him. The idea that Takemichi, this seemingly fragile male, could save Seishu’s life… it threw Baji completely off guard.

“I… I didn’t know”
Baji muttered, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.

“I just thought…”

“You thought wrong!”
Lang Zhu snapped, raising his staff threateningly.

“Get out of here before you do something even more foolish! You almost beat him up without knowing the truth! Do you have any idea how close you came to making an even bigger mess?”
He said, while thinking of Mikey and Draken. He shudders at the thought.

Baji grimaced as the reality of his actions sank in. He had messed up—big time. He had let his temper get the best of him, and now he was paying the price.

Reluctantly, he turned toward the door, knowing that Lang Zhu wasn’t going to forgive him anytime soon.

“Alright, alright… I’m going.”
He glanced at Takemichi one last time, but the younger male refused to even look at him.

Lang Zhu gave a dismissive wave, his face still burning with anger.

“Good. And don’t let me catch you pulling a stunt like this again!”

The heavy door slammed shut behind Baji, leaving him standing alone outside, the chilly air doing nothing to ease the discomfort gnawing at him.

He stood there for a moment, staring at the closed door, feeling like an idiot. His mind echoed with the words of his vice-captain, who had often tried to warn him about his temper.

“—Baji-san, you really need to get a hold of yourself. One day, that temper of yours is going to get you into trouble.”

Baji clenched his fists at his sides, frustrated with himself.

He hated to admit it, but his vice-captain had been right. His lack of control had already led him into trouble today, and now he had not only hurt an innocent person, but he had also embarrassed himself in front of Lang Zhu, someone he deeply respected.

He cursed under his breath, kicking a small rock in frustration as he walked away from the cave.

“Great… just great. Nice job, Baji. Real smooth.”

Lang Zhu sighed deeply as he turned to face Takemichi.

His expression softened, and with a gentle voice, he said….

“Don’t take that brat—Baji—seriously. He’s got a fiery temper and acts without thinking, but deep down, he’s not a bad person. And let me tell you, he’s very powerful. He’s the youngest chieftain in the history of our wolf tribe.”

Takemichi, still feeling a little shaken from the encounter, took a deep breath and steadied himself.

He gave the old male a kind, reassuring smile, one that was soft yet filled with understanding.

“It’s okay”
He said quietly.

“I’m not angry anymore. And anyway, it doesn’t matter—I probably won’t see him again.”

Lang Zhu cleared his throat, a little embarrassed by the situation.

“Well, Baji was definitely in the wrong this time. I’ll make sure he apologizes to you later, but if that’s not enough for you…”
Lang Zhu gave a mischievous smirk.

“You can beat him up! No need to hold back—he’s tough, and trust me, he can take it!”

Takemichi was momentarily speechless.

The thought of actually hitting someone, especially Baji, was the last thing on his mind. He had never been the type to resort to violence, and he certainly didn’t want to start now.

“I really don’t want to beat anyone up”
He said, chuckling awkwardly.

“I just want to wait for Mikey to come back or for Draken to come and take me back to my cave. That’s all.”

At the mention of Draken, Takemichi’s expression shifted slightly.

‘Where was Draken?’
He had expected Mikey to be late—after all, Mikey had gone hunting outside the tribe—but Draken?

Draken was supposed to have been back already. Takemichi’s gaze shifted toward the door, and his mind wandered as he stood in silent contemplation, staring at the entrance as if expecting Draken to appear at any moment.

Lang Zhu, however, was still focused on Baji, unable to let the matter go.

He spent the next several minutes speaking in defense of the young wolf, trying to smooth things over between the two.

“You know—”
Lang Zhu began again.

“Baji might be a little rough around the edges, but he’s loyal. Once you get to know him, he’s the kind of person who would protect you with his life.”
But despite Lang Zhu’s best efforts, Takemichi remained indifferent.

He listened patiently, but it was clear that his heart wasn’t swayed. He didn’t hold any particular grudge against Baji, but neither did he have any interest in the wolf tribe’s youngest chieftain.

His mind was elsewhere—on Mikey, on Draken, and on getting back to where he truly belonged.

Lang Zhu, on the other hand, cursed silently in his heart. He muttered under his breath.

“That stupid, stubborn boy…”
He couldn’t help but feel frustrated.

Baji had completely ruined what could have been a great opportunity for him. Not only had he lashed out at such a sweet, innocent male, but now, thanks to his reckless behavior, Baji had likely driven Takemichi away for good.

What chance did Baji have now?

Lang Zhu huffed, feeling a pang of disappointment. In his eyes, Takemichi was perfect—kind, gentle, and cute.

The old witch doctor could see what Baji was too blind to notice. There was something special about this little male.

Even though Takemichi wasn’t a traditional female, there was a scent about him, something subtle yet unmistakable. A scent that wasn’t just on the surface but seemed to come from deep within.

Lang Zhu had spent enough time around Takemichi to notice the signs.

In fact, after days of observing him closely, a thought had crossed his mind more than once—a theory, really, though it was one he had kept to himself. He couldn’t help but wonder if Takemichi wasn’t entirely like the other males of his tribe.

There was a lingering scent of femininity, and Lang Zhu suspected that, perhaps, Takemichi might have something unique about him… something rare. Could it be that this little male was capable of bearing cubs?

Lang Zhu’s thoughts wandered to a distant memory, one from his younger days.

He had encountered a human male once, a male who had been able to carry a child. The memory was blurry, faded with time, but the scent had been the same—different from the usual males, just like Takemichi.

‘What were they called again?’

‘The word slipped from his mind… Ome… something. Ome… Omega! That was it!’

Lang Zhu’s eyes widened slightly at the realization. If his suspicions were correct, Takemichi might be one of them—a rare male capable of bearing life.

It was only a theory, of course, but if it were true, and if Baji had been smart enough to recognize it, then Baji could have found the perfect mate. What a pair they would have made!

Baji’s strength and Takemichi’s gentle nature—it would have been a match like no other.

But now?

Now the opportunity was lost. Shattered, even. Thanks to Baji’s temper, Takemichi probably wanted nothing to do with him. Lang Zhu sighed deeply, feeling the weight of the situation.

He was too old to be dealing with this kind of nonsense. What was the point of all his efforts if that reckless wolf had just thrown it all away?

Lang Zhu shook his head and muttered bitterly to himself.

“That idiot brat… He could’ve had it all, and now look what he’s done. Good luck finding a mate as good as this one, Baji. You blew it.”
With a final glance at Takemichi, Lang Zhu turned back to his herbs, his heart heavy with disappointment.

All his efforts, all his hopes, now felt like they were for nothing. In the quiet of the cave, Lang Zhu wished he could curse Baji to the moon and back.

What a fool that boy was.

What a fool.

༻﹡﹡Takemichi’s POV﹡﹡༺

Draken-kun finally arrived.

The moment I saw him step into the cave, I couldn’t contain my excitement. I practically jumped off the stone bed—well, that’s what I called it anyway—and without thinking, I threw myself into his arms, a wide smile spreading across my face.

“You’re finally here! What took you so long?”
I exclaimed, feeling a mix of relief and happiness now that he was here.

Draken-kun seemed a bit caught off guard by my enthusiasm. His eyes darted away from me as if he was trying to avoid making eye contact, but despite that, he wrapped his strong arms around me and lifted me off the ground.

I couldn’t help but notice how his ears had turned red… Why was that?

He quickly carried me over to another stone bed—this one right next to where Seishu, the man I had rescued, was still resting. Gently, he set me down and handed me a cloth bag.

“Here are the things you asked for”
He said, his voice a little gruff, but his gaze steady as his eyes finally met mine.

I blinked in surprise, my hands still hovering over the cloth bag. I stared at Draken-kun, the realization hitting me like a wave.

So this was why he had been late?

My heart sank a little as I remembered that before Mikey had driven me here, I had asked Draken-kun for a few specific things. And now… now he had gone out of his way to get them for me.

“I-is this why you were late?”
I asked, my voice a little shaky with embarrassment.

Draken-kun scratched the back of his neck awkwardly and looked away for a moment before speaking.

“W-well… yeah. I’m a little embarrassed to say it, but I went to wash the skin I peeled off yesterday. And then I had to collect the other things you asked for today.”
As he finished speaking, he reached over and ruffled my hair, his large hand patting my head gently.

His touch was warm and comforting, but he was making my already messy hair even messier—not that I minded, though. I looked up at him and saw the soft smile on his face, and despite myself, I couldn’t help but smile back.

Then, as if remembering something, Draken-kun placed the cleaned animal skins in front of me.

“I know you like to collect these, so I brought a lot back for you.”

My heart skipped a beat.

His words, his thoughtfulness—it was too much. I was suddenly feeling overwhelmed, but not in a bad way.

It wasn’t fair!

Both Draken-kun and Mikey-kun were so handsome, so caring… I didn’t know how to handle it.

My face grew warmer, and I found myself avoiding Draken-kun’s gaze.

“I… um…”
I stammered, trying to think of what to say.

“I actually don’t like collecting animal skins anymore. Y-you don’t have to help me with that.”

Draken-kun paused, clearly surprised by my sudden change of heart. For a brief second, I worried that he might ask me why I had changed my mind, but instead, he just gave me a soft smile and said,

“If you don’t like it anymore, then you don’t have to take it.”
With that, he tossed the animal skins aside.

Then, as if performing a magic trick, he reached behind his back and pulled out something unexpected—a bouquet of small red flowers, their petals glistening with tiny dewdrops, which shimmered like crystals under the faint light.

The flowers gave off a soft, delicate fragrance, filling the air around us.

“For me?”
I gasped, my eyes wide with surprise.

“They’re so beautiful!”

Draken-kun placed the bouquet in my hands, his smile widening as he saw my reaction.

“I’m glad you like them.”

I could feel my cheeks flushing.

I was blushing, and this time—I knew it.

No matter how much I tried to hide it, the warmth spreading across my face was undeniable.

“Thank you!”
I exclaimed, my voice filled with genuine gratitude.

No one had ever done anything like this for me before—well, no one except for Mikey-kun and Draken-kun. These two were special, and maybe that’s why… why I liked them both so much.

—Ahem!

A shy smile crept across my lips, and I stared down at the flowers in my hands, too focused on their beauty to notice Draken-kun’s expression. It wasn’t until I heard him clear his throat that I snapped out of my thoughts.

“Takemitchy…”
Draken-kun’s voice was soft, and there was something almost helpless in his tone.

“We’re already family, you know. You don’t need to say thank you to me all the time.”
His words made me pause, and I couldn’t help but remember the day I had first arrived here.

We had talked about this—about how we didn’t need to constantly express our gratitude to each other because, as Draken-kun said, we were already family.

The memory made me smile.

Feeling playful, I stuck my tongue out at him and grinned.

“Yeah, yeah, I know”
I said teasingly.

“But sometimes, I just can’t help it.”

Draken-kun chuckled at my response, shaking his head as he gave me another gentle pat on the head. The warmth between us felt so natural, and in that moment, I realized just how much these little gestures meant to me.

It wasn’t just the flowers, or the thoughtfulness, or the way they both looked out for me—it was the way they made me feel like I truly belonged.

༻﹡﹡No One’s POV﹡﹡༺

Baji stood at the edge of a cliff, his sharp eyes catching sight of the entrance to Lang Zhu Cave.

From his vantage point, he could see everything happening inside the cave.

Thanks to the heightened senses of a beastman, his vision was clear despite the distance.

What he saw made his heart race.

It wasn’t the small, delicate male that caught him off guard—although the sight of him holding a bouquet of flowers and smiling so sweetly was surprising in itself.

No, it wasn’t the beautiful expression on the little male’s face that shocked him. It was the person who had given him the flowers.

“D-Draken?!”
The name left Baji’s mouth in a loud, disbelieving shout.

His voice echoed through the air, and he could see Draken immediately turn his head in his direction.

Panicking, Baji quickly ducked out of sight, hiding behind a large boulder before Draken could spot him.

His heart pounded in his chest as he crouched there, hidden from view.

‘Why did I hide?’
He asked himself, confused by his own actions.

He wasn’t exactly afraid of Draken, but something about the situation made him instinctively retreat.

Swallowing hard, Baji dared to peek out from behind the rock, his eyes drawn back to the scene in the cave. His mind was still reeling.

Draken was here?

That didn’t make sense.

He knew they were supposed to be here a week ago, but he assumed they had left. After all, there had been a meeting held by the fairy clan, and he thought for sure both Draken and Mikey had attended it. But clearly, that hadn’t been the case.

‘What am I even seeing?’
Baji’s thoughts raced as he tried to make sense of the situation.

‘What exactly happened while they were here in my tribe?’

He glanced around anxiously, scanning the area for any sign of Mikey. But to his relief, there was no sight of him. Baji let out a breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding.

‘So, Mikey isn’t here… That means he hasn’t seen this little male either—wait, why am I relieved about that?!’
Baji’s thoughts scrambled, his face flushing with embarrassment at his own reaction.

Why was he worried about the small male he had fought with earlier?

His mind flashed back to the argument they had, the harsh words exchanged, and the way he had mistreated the little male.

Guilt gnawed at him.

He wanted to apologize… but why did that thought make his heart race even more?

‘No, no, no’
Baji shook his head, trying to rid himself of those confusing thoughts.

“I’m only worried because I wronged him. That’s all. Nothing more…….

He told himself firmly, convincing himself that his concern was nothing more than guilt.

Peeking out again, he watched the two figures inside the cave. He had initially thought that the small, delicate male—who he still didn’t know was named Takemichi—was like a wild cat.

Beautiful, yes, but always showing his teeth and claws, ready to strike.

But now, seeing the way Takemichi smiled so gently at Draken, Baji realized he had been wrong.

Those sharp claws only came out when the little male faced people he hated. When he was around people he liked, his gentle demeanor was enough to make anyone feel a pang of tenderness in their heart.

A strange, sour feeling settled in Baji’s chest.

He looked down at the animal skin bag in his hands, filled with carefully picked red berries. He had washed each one meticulously, intending to give them to the little male as an apology.

But now… after seeing that sweet smile directed at Draken, Baji felt a wave of uncertainty wash over him.

He hesitated, his earlier confidence fading.

‘Would the little male even want to see me?’
He wondered, his heart sinking at the thought.

After the way he had treated him, surely that little male—Takemichi must hate him.

For a moment, Baji stood there, torn between his desire to apologize and his fear of facing the little male again.

Finally, he made up his mind. Quietly, he approached the entrance to the cave, his footsteps light and careful. He set the animal skin bag down in front of the door, his heart pounding in his chest.

Then, taking a deep breath, he reached up and knocked on the door.

He didn’t wait for a response.

The moment his knuckles left the door, Baji turned and hurried away, his heart racing as he ducked out of sight again. His chest was tight, a mix of nerves and regret swirling inside him. He didn’t know why, but he couldn’t bear the thought of facing the little male just yet.

Inside the cave, Draken heard the knock and turned toward the door.

His sharp instincts told him that someone had been standing outside a moment ago, but by the time he opened the door, there was no one in sight.

Frowning slightly, he glanced down and spotted the animal skin bag lying on the ground.

With a puzzled expression, Draken bent down and picked up the bag.

He opened it to find it filled with bright red berries, each one carefully cleaned and neatly packed.

“Who sent this?”
Takemichi’s voice rang out from behind him, breaking the silence in the cave.

Author’s Note:

What do you all think of this chapter?

Personally, I feel like Baji is perfect for this chapter. Even in the original plot of the novel, this scene just fits him so well—especially considering his personality, whether it’s in fanfic or the original Tokyo Revengers.

He always acts like that, which I find super cute, lol.

Anyway, that’s all for this chapter. I hope you’re enjoying it so far! Now go on, there are still 8 chapters left!

And don’t even think about skipping one—just kidding! 😂
