Evan’s POV
The closer we neared his house, the faster my heart pounded in my chest. Before I knew it, we were standing in front of his gate. There was a beautiful garden in front of his two story house with a variety of flowers adorning the luscious green grass.Â
He unlocked the gate and ushered me. I stepped to the side and watched as he locked the gate back in place and followed him to his front door. He pulled his house key out of his pocket and unlocked the door. He motioned for me to go in. I stepped in wearily and he followed suit, unlocking the door behind him.
I took in the sight of the house. I stared in amazement. Everything was beautifully designed. I felt like I was in a mansion. “You can head upstairs to my room in the time being.” Alex said. “It’s the last room to the right.”
“S-sure.” I responded. I walked up the stairs slowly and upon reaching the top of the stairs, I made a right turn just like he said and entered the last room. It was quite interesting. He had a lot of posters of bands stuck on his wall. I didn’t really take him for the type of person to listen to bands, but hey, you can never judge a book by its cover.
I took my English book out and set my bag aside. I cautiously took a seat on his bed and skimmed through what we needed to do. At that moment, Alex walked in. “Hey.” He called out.
“H-hey” I stuttered. “So….u-um, for the assignment in English, we need to write a 10 page essay, back and front, on an alternate universe we could live in. It’s basically a story about our lives, but just made up.”
“Are you kidding?” Alex groaned. “Dammit That’s a lot of writing. Both back and front? I can barely write half a page.” He took a seat on the bed beside me and lay down. For some reason, my heart beat started to accelerate. I averted my gaze to anywhere but him.
“Don’t worry, I have quite the imagination. I actually imagine scenarios in my head a lot. You can contribute by adding your ideas along the way and we’ll have it written up in no time.” I suggested. “And by in no time, I mean we’ll have it completed by the end of the week…or a bit before if we’re fast.” I quickly added.
He gave a slight chuckle. I started to blush, watching his chest rise up and down slowly. “I guess that could work.” He mumbled.
“That’s the spirit. Now let’s get cracking.” I encouraged. Wait…Cracking? Who says that? No one says cracking. Why am I so stupid?
“Yeah. Let’s just start this stupid thing.” He rose up into a sitting position on the bed and we both made ourselves comfortable as we started to work on the assignment.
