Theme: Fluff!

Note: Imagine being inspired by a school assignment-

Anyways, this AU a demon with the BDA of making children of the person/people they’re fighting appear. If one person is fighting it, then it would be the child of only theirs, but if two or more then it would be all of those people’s, despite their genders or relationships with each other. The BDA is meant as a distraction and a nuisance to make the demon slayers have to protect more people who are inside the battle. The children do not disappear after the demon is killed. Nor do they disintigrate in the sunlight.

Sanemi and Giyuu are not dating yet. (Why am I being so formal-)

Sanemi stared at the children with dismay. Giyuu stared as well. The children gazed back, unaware that the stares were of incredulous looks.

“Daddy!” said the younger one—a little girl with striking white hair and sparkling blue eyes. She smiled up at Sanemi.

Sanemi flinched. Daddy? The fuck? So the demon wasn’t lying? “I’m not your father!” he snapped, his katana held in one hand at his side. He wasn’t sure whether these children were dangerous yet, given that they’d literally popped out of thin air. And hadn’t disappeared after the demon left.

Giyuu raised an eyebrow. “Shinazugawa, are these your children?” he asked, turning to the Hashira.

“Fuck no! They appeared out of thin air, how the fuck would they be my children?” Sanemi said, narrowing his eyes. “Besides, that one has your eye color!”

The child that looked to be the second youngest, narrowed his eyes as well. He looked more like Giyuu with his black hair tied up in the back in a pony tail and violet-blue eyes. “Papa said you weren’t allowed to swear,” he said, staring at Sanemi with judging eyes.

“Who?” Sanemi asked, startled. “Also what am I to listen to you! You look to be, like, 4!”

The child crossed his arms. “I’m 9! And Papa said so!” He pointed to Giyuu. “Are you stupid?” he asked, directing his question to Sanemi.

Obviously ticked, Sanemi went to shout but Giyuu put a hand on his shoulder. “They look harmless, Shinazugawa. Besides, the sun is coming up. If they disintigrate then you were right to not trust them, if they don’t then we’ll take them to Kocho.”

Sanemi nodded slowly. “Fine.”

The three children stared, waiting for something to happen. The Hashira stared back.

Minutes ticked by and the sun rose into the sky. The children weren’t affected at all. Giyuu glanced at Sanemi who glared at him.

“Fine,” he repeated. “Come,” he grunted snatching the two older children’s arms. The little girl screamed at Sanemi, making him drop the children.

The girl ran to the older child—a quiet boy with spiky-looking black hair and lavender eyes—who hugged her. The girl pouted. “Daddy! You’re being a meanie!” she babbled.

The boy patted her head and gave her a comforting look and she instantly dropped her pout and smiled.

The other boy stood next to Sanemi, unphased by this. Giyuu watched in slight amusement as the children all seemed to be chastising Sanemi.

“Fucking hell,” Sanemi muttered. “Follow me.”

The children, and Giyuu, followed the albino Hashira and they walked until the birds chirped around them in the crisp, morning air. By the time it was, around, 6am, they arrived at the Butterfly mansion.

Sanemi was grumbling because the children were having trouble keeping up and eventually Giyuu made Sanemi pick up the little girl.

Giyuu knocked and Aoi opened the door. She went to usher them inside then did a double take and stared.

“Why.. do you have 3 children that have an unsettling similarity to you two?” she asked slowly, her eyes flitting from the girl in Sanemi’s arms to the boy clinging to Giyuu’s leg then to the boy who hovered behind them silently.

“Because the demon decided to have the demon art of making children of the people it was fighting to quite literally pop out of thin air,” Sanemi hissed, rolling his eyes.

“Are you two.. dating?” Aoi asked uncertainly.

“No!!” Sanemi shouted. Giyuu shook his head. “I think the demon just produces children of the people that it fights whether they’re in relationships or not,” he murmured, silencing Sanemi.

“Ah. Okay.” Aoi paused. “Well then! Come inside.”

~~~
Shinobu smirked. “Children, I see? That was fast.”
“The fuck do you mean!?” Sanemi shouted, shoving the girl into Giyuu’s arms. “Just take the children and let us go on with our lives!! And they’re not ours! The demon made them!”
Shinobu cocked an eyebrow. “Sureee. And no, you two are taking care of them. Whether or not you claim they’re ‘yours,’ they were based off of the both of you. So they really ARE yours. Pretend they came from the future. Good luck! Oh, and if you need help with anything like food or clothes you can go to Mitsuri or here but you two are on your own in taking care of them as a whole. Of course, Aoi and the others can help while you two are on missions but they’re your children and your responsibility.”
Sanemi clenched his fists. “I’m not going to take care of these shit babies! They’re going to ruin are schedules and training!” he snapped.
The girl burst into tears and Giyuu frantically tried calming her, petting her head and murmuring words of comfort to her softly.
Shinobu smiled. “See? Tomioka-San already has gotten the hang of it. Besides, think of this as your training. Raising children is hard and should be a nice challenge for the two of you. Also, you’re lucky they weren’t actually babies. Otherwise you’d be wrestling three tiny, screaming children. So be grateful, Shinazugawa. Now, you five leave unless you actually need anything. I’ve got to go back to tending Genya.”
Sanemi froze. “Who?”
Shinobu sighed. “Your brother. Leave, Shinazugawa, before you burst down the whole house.”
Sanemi glared at her then stomped out. Giyuu, still holding the little girl, took the 9 year old boy’s hand and motioned to the other boy to follow him, then he went after Sanemi who was already at the entrance.
Once outside, Sanemi practically screamed then turned to Giyuu. “You’re taking care of them by yourself!” he said, then stomped away.
Giyuu sighed, knowing he would gain nothing by going after him. Then he turned to the children, letting go of the boy’s hand and setting down the girl.
“Are… you hungry?” he asked, hesitant and confused. He would try mimicking what Tsutako had done with him, maybe.
The little girl wiped her tears away with the heel of her hand and nodded. “I want food,” she huffed.
“Alright.” Giyuu turned to the other two and they both nodded. “Okay, we will go get food next. What are your names?”
The girl, who had not been listening to much of what Sanemi and Giyuu and Shinobu had said about the demon, looked at him confused. “You know our names!”
Giyuu shook his head then bent down to level with the girl. “Ehm.. A demon—do you know what demons are?” he said suddenly.
The girl nodded. “You and Daddy tell us stories how you fought them!”
Giyuu nodded slowly. “Okay. Well, a demon brought you two here.. to the.. uh.. past? So me and Shinazuga-.. Uh. Your “daddy” are younger then and we still do fight them. We haven’t retired yet, not has Muzan been defeated. So, we, uhm, we were fighting a demon and you three came into the past and found us,” Giyuu said awkwardly.
The second-youngest boy said, “Why haven’t you defeated Muzan yet?”
The girl said, then, “Oh! He still has his arm!” She smiled and pointed to Giyuu’s right (?) arm.
Giyuu raised an eyebrow. “What?”
The boy said, “You told us when you were fighting Muzan with the other Pillars and Tanjiro and everyone that you lost your arm and Daddy lost his fingers.”
Giyuu froze. “Oh. What. Wait, we were fighting Muzan?? We lived through that..?” he asked slowly.
The boy nodded and the girl smiled. “Yeah!!” she said giddly. “All of you defeated him!”
The boy nodded, again, along with her words. “But they said lots of people died, right?”
“Did.. Tanjiro die?” Giyuu mumbled.
All three children shook their heads and relief flooded Giyuu. “Alright,” he said. “Enough of this. I just wanted to tell you three that a demon brought you here in the past so me and Shina—ehm. Your, uh, other father, uh, have not yet, like, uhm. You know. Just that we don’t know you,” he concluded.
“My name is Miyü!” the girl said, smiling.
The younger boy said, “I’m Kaito and he’s Sota.” He pointed to the older boy who nodded at his name.
“Oh, alright,” Giyuu said. “Thank you.”
He paused. “Wait, why doesn’t Sota speak?” he asked, confused.
Miyü looked down and Sota crossed his arms. Kaito, not seeming to notice, said rather bluntly, “Oh, well, he’s mute.”
“Oh. Huh?-” Giyuu let that sink in. So mute was to not speak, no? Maybe Giyuu should’ve been mute- It would’ve made things easier. “Ah. Okay, then. Can I ask why?”
Sota made a motion of being hesitant but, again, Kaito ignored this and said, “Yeah. He stopped talking before I was born, I think, because he hadn’t been able to learn how to speak properly or something, so he just stopped trying. At least, that’s what you and Daddy told us. You said that you couldn’t know for sure though because it was his own descision probably. Or that maybe it wasn’t his descision and he just couldn’t?”
Sota slapped the side of Kaito’s head and he whined at his older brother, turning to huff at him. Miyü looked at Giyuu and said, “Kai speaks too much.”
Kaito glared at her. “I do not!”
Giyuu watched them curiously. He and Tsutako’s relationship as siblings had been.. well.. very different. He smiled slightly to himself.
“Why didn’t we take you to Kocho?” he asked.
“Who?” Kaito asked, turning back to him.
“Uh.. Shinobu Kocho? The girl I spoke to earlier. With the one butterfly pin?” Giyuu said.
“Oh. You said she died,” Kaito said, shrugging.
Shock filled Giyuu’s features and he took a second to recover. Right. Of course not all the Hashira survived Muzan. He would ask them which did later. Well, if he could trust their judgement. Given the fact that they’d been the children of Giyuu and Sanemi.. well, obviously it wasn’t true. How the fuck would they even give birth?? And they definitely weren’t on good terms.
Miyü said, “Can we eatt??”
Giyuu nodded. Right. “Okay, let’s go now.”
~~~

“UMAI!!” Kyojuro’s words could be heard throughout the whole building and Giyuu sighed to himself. Of course the Flame Hashira was here.

Giyuu asked the children what they wanted, handing them one of the menu’s, then told the waiter their order.

As they waited to eat, Kyojuro seemed to have finished eating and was walking out when he noticed Giyuu.

“Tomioka-San! Nice to see you here! Who are these people?” he asked, smiling.

“Miyü, Sota, and Kaito,” Giyuu murmured, hoping against hope he didn’t ask whose children they were. Apparently luck wasn’t on his side though because then Kyojuro said, “Whose children are these? They look like you and.. Shinazugawa!”

Kaito, in all his loud-mouthed glory, said, “We’re their children! From the future!”

Kyojuro tilted his head. “Two men can’t have children together..?” He didn’t even mention the fact that Giyuu and Sanemi weren’t in the slightest of ways close.

Sota made a shushing motion to Kaito and glared but crossed his arms and stared at the table.

Giyuu sighed. “A demon.”

“What?!” Kyojuro exclaimed.

Giyuu shrugged. “I don’t know. If you want more details, ask Kocho. We’re in a public place, Rengoku, we can’t talk about this now.”

Kyojuro nodded slowly then turned and left, his gaze lingering on the three children before he closed the door.

~~~
After eating, Giyuu took the three to his house. He told them that they must stay inside and that they could do what they wished as long as they didn’t make a mess.
Then he went out to train, swinging the wooden katana in the air sharply, practicing. He continued for god knows how long until he heard footsteps. He paused and looked up, sensing it was not a demon. He then realized how tired he was—what from everything that had happened with his mission and now his training, and lack of sleep. He decided to ignore it, mostly because someone was coming and it was best not to greet people by passing out.
Turns out it was Sanemi, though. Maybe he should’ve greeted him by going unconscious.
“Shinazugawa?” Giyuu asked wearily.
Sanemi rolled his eyes. “Thought I might find you here. Where’d you abandon the children off to?” he asked.
Giyuu jerked his head to his house showing that he’d left them inside. “I didn’t abondon them.”
“Right. It looks like you’ve been training for hours. Did you even get rest?” Sanemi said, crossing his arms. “You’re going to fucking fall to the ground any second now.”
“Do you care?”
“No.”
They gazed at each other, Sanemi’s eyes full of hostility and Giyuu’s of exhaustion. Their stare didn’t break for a minute before Sanemi turned and picked up one of the practice katana’s and said, “Want to fight?”
Giyuu nodded slowly. “Alright then. Should wake me up.”
Sanemi lifted the katana and charged, not letting him recover.
Giyuu reacted instinctively, flinching out of the way then picking up the wooden katana he’d been using. He blocked one of Sanemi’s blows and the tried his own at attacking. He stumbled forward slightly as Sanemi moved away. Giyuu quickly balanced himself and pivoted, turning back to Sanemi in a flash and thrusting the katana to him, using his breathing forms. (I ain’t looking them up… But this one would be, I think, smth like “drop ripple thrust?” dunno anymore)
The two Hashira’s wood katana’s clashed against each other time after time as they fought. Giyuu found himself growing more sleepy, though, and his footing was starting going off. Sanemi noticed this but didn’t stop, only pressing Giyuu harder in an attempt to make him more alert. But perhaps it was the fact that Sanemi wasn’t exactly a murderous enemy, or maybe it was the fact that Giyuu hadn’t slept in a long time, but whatever it was his head seemed to droop and he managed only to block an attack before his raven hair swooped up from his fall and he nearly crashed into the ground. He would’ve cracked his head on the rock if Sanemi hadn’t used the wooden katana to somewhat push Giyuu up and then catch him.
“Idiot,” Sanemi said, sighing. He held Giyuu by his upperarms then dragged him to the house, tossing the katana’s to the side.
He kicked the door open and someone shouted, “Papa?” at the sound.
A patter of footsteps met Sanemi at the door and the children stared up at him. Then Kaito screamed at Giyuu’s sleeping figure.
“HE KILLED HIM!!” he said frantically.
Sota, noting that Giyuu looked asleep, motioned for Kaito to be quiet but the boy kept yelling. Sanemi rolled his eyes. Miyü looked confused and like she’d just woken up—she probably had been sleeping—so she didn’t react much.
“Oh, fuck off,” Sanemi growled. “He fell asleep when we were training.”
Sota made some movements with his hands which Sanemi did not understand until Kaito interpreted. “He said that when was the last time Papa slept?” Kaito said, glancing at Sota who nodded.
Ah. Sign language, probably. Sanemi grumbled. “How am I supposed to know? And stop calling him that, it’s stupid.”
“Why?” Kaito asked.
Sanemi rolled his eyes once more. “And stop calling me ‘Daddy’. That’s also weird.”
“But that’s what Papa calls you,” Miyü pouted.
Sanemi cocked an eyebrow. “He what?”
“Yeah,” Kaito said. “You told us to call you Sanemi but then once then me and Sota were going by your room’s and Papa’s and then we heard something of you two talking and Papa called you Daddy.” He smiled.
Sota looked exasperated and like he really wished Kaito wouldn’t repeat this, but he didn’t say anything. Sanemi wished he would, he looked less stupid then the other two.
“So, why the fuck would he call me that?” Sanemi asked, glancing down at Giyuu’s slumped figure.
Kaito went to say something then paused, unsure. “I dunno. Maybe he was thinking about his own dad? He sounded hurt or something. And later he wasn’t walking right for an hour or some after.”
Sanemi cringed. Nevermind. Maybe he didn’t want to know. (ikyk..)
Giyuu murmured something in his sleep and Sanemi went back to him. “Alright, I’m going to bring Tomioka to sleep and then leave, so go off and mess the house but don’t bother me.”
He stomped around, searching the house for Giyuu’s bedroom until he’d found it. He carefully laid the Hashira down then said to himself, “You’re a strange person.”
Then he closed the door and left. He went back to the entrance and found Sota standing there.
“The fuck you want?” Sanemi asked. “Also, tell the other two that he’s in his room and to just say that he was so tired that he went back and probably forgot.”
Sota nodded slowly then lifted a paper that said, I’m sorry about what Kaito and Miyü had said. Please ignore that. And, I know that you don’t really like us or Father but could you still be around more? Kai and ‘Yü both really look up to you so they’ll miss not having you around. I know as a Hashira, you probably won’t put children in front of your priorities, and that we aren’t really from the future but from some random demon but I would appreciate it greatly if you helped Father to take care of us. Or at least the other two. I can care for myself, but they can’t.
Sanemi stared at the note for a long while then said, slowly, “I’ll think about it. How old are you?”
Sota smiled at him and quickly joted down something. I’m 13. Almost 14.
Sanemi cocked his head. “Old enough to take care of yourself, eh? You’re still a child.”
Sota gave him a look of displeasure and wrote, You and Father told us about the Hashira who was merely 14 when he died fighting the Uppermoon 1.
Sanemi raised his eyebrows. “Tokito died? What?”
Sota nodded slowly. Of course, it all happens in YOUR future. Probably. We told Father some about it. Muzan was defeated.
Sanemi’s eyebrows completely disappeared from his face. “We did?..” he breathed. “Who.. lived?”
Sota hesitated. Of the Hashira, only you and Father. And Tengen. Everyone else died.
Sanemi’s expression fell but he nodded. Of course that would happen. “One last thing before I go.. What.. what about Genya?” he mumbled, afraid of the answer. If even Gyomei had died Genya had.. little to no chance if he’d gotten roped into the fight.
The way Sota looked away confirmed Sanemi’s fears. He didn’t live.
Sanemi closed his eyes for a moment then let out a breath. “Then I’ll make sure in this ‘Universe’ he lives. I’m not fucking letting that happen,” he said.
Sota nodded hesitantly and Sanemi turned away. “Aight’, bye. Remember what to tell the other two.”
Sota nodded again and waved Sanemi off as he left.
At least Giyuu lived, Sanemi thought. At least he did. But why at least? Did he actually care?
~~~

Giyuu awoke with a start. He looked around, expecting an annoyed Sanemi and the grounds outside of his home. Instead, he was greeted by one of his ‘children,’ and the futon he slept on occasionally.

“Where..?” he started.

Sota lifted a paper that said, You were so tired and Sanemi got annoyed and poked you until you went back here to sleep. He just left.

Giyuu nodded slowly. That sounded like Sanemi. Although.. he must’ve been really tired if he didn’t remember anything. “Okay. Where is Kaito and Miyü?”

Somewhere in the house.

“Alright. Thanks.” Giyuu stood and Sota followed him as they walked out to where they heard laughter.

Miyü and Kaito were playing something that neither Giyuu or Sota could comprehend. They stopped when the two entered though and looked up.

“Daddyy!!” Miyü whined. “Papa left.”

Giyuu nodded. “Yes. Well, I’ve got no missions today that I know of so.. What do you want to do?”

Kaito shrugged. “Can we go see Tengen??”

Miyü pushed him. “You just want to see his wives!” she said, giggling.

Kaito glared at her. “They’re nice to me!!”

She rolled her eyes. “They’re nice to everyone.”

Kaito pouted. “Yeah, whatever.”

Giyuu raised an eyebrow. “They’re like 20 years older than you.”

Kaito glared at him too. Giyuu sighed. “Alright, though. But I’m going to regret bringing you three there.”

~~~
(eheh I’m evil and won’t show that scene)
Time flew. Giyuu found himself pressure with caring for the three and his work as a Hashira. He probably would’ve crumbled under it if it wasn’t for one faithful day when Sanemi showed up out of nowhere at his door.
It was raining and Giyuu at first simply thought Sanemi wanted to get out of the rain and had been passing by.
But then Sanemi walked in with purpose and went straight to the children so GIyuu figured that wasn’t the reason.
“Shinazugawa? What are you doing here?” he asked.
Sanemi ignored him and said, “How much have you three been making Tomioka’s life 1000 time harder?”
Kaito grinned. “A lot.”
Sanemi rolled his eyes. “Obviously.”
“Shinazugawa?” Giyuu repeated.
“What?” he snapped, turning to the other Hashira.
“Why have you come here?”
Sanemi gave him an annoyed look. “Why does it matter?”
“You’re literally in my house, soaking wet, and talking to the children you’ve insisted weren’t your own.”
“…Right. No reason.”
Sota smiled at Sanemi who gave him the slightest of nods. Giyuu sighed, knowing he wouldn’t get a straight answer out of him. Sota ushered the children to a different room so the two Hashira could talk and then the room was silent.
Sanemi stood and stared at Giyuu who stared back. For a minute, neither said anthing. Then, Sanemi said, “Look, I’ll help you take care of them. It’s going to be fucking annoying but it looks like you’ve been fighting hell along with demons and I’m not a heartless bitch so I’ll help.”
(sorry why did I almost write “you’ve been fighting hell along with elephants”..)
Giyuu stared at him for a hot second, speechless. “O…okay. What do I have to do in return?”
“Return? Nothing.”
“Really?”
“The fuck do you think I would make you give me something for?” Sanemi crossed his arms.
Giyuu shrugged and went quiet. Then Sanemi said, “On second thought. You can do something for me.”
Giyuu looked up. Ah, there was the catch.
“Rest your fucking body, Tomioka, you’re going to be the death of me some day,” Sanemi sighed. He turned and went into the direction the children had gone off to, leaving Giyuu in shock.
~~~ (this is really fucking rushed because I honestly didn’t know what else to write to fill in since I’m kinda struggling to think of something that wouldn’t draw it out too long.. So if it seems like things are going by way too quickly, that’s my fault and I may go back and add more in the future. Sorry T-T!!)

Sanemi was being surprisingly gentle with the children. Giyuu didn’t understand why, but he was glad of the help anyways. It was getting a lot easier now.

And.

And, Sanemi was being nicer to Giyuu. Why? Who knew. But Giyuu loved it. So much.

Again, he knew not why he loved this. It was just like.. hating rain your whole live because it was always a downpour, then when it got lighter you grew to love it. And then, even when it got harsher, you found yourself still attached to it. Loving it.

But in this instance, the rain was Sanemi.

Even when he was shouting, Giyuu found himself admiring the way Sanemi’s eyes seemed to flash with whatever emotion he was feeling then.

It was almost lovely. it was lovely.

Several times, Giyuu nearly found himself staring at Sanemi. He felt himself falling deeper entranced to the Wind Hashira for reasons he wished he knew.

He couldn’t explain it.

And then one day, Sanemi was speaking to Giyuu. He spoke to him carefully, almost hesitantly.

“Tomioka. How do you feel today?” he asked, his eyes averted.

Giyuu said, now mostly used to Sanemi not being quite as harsh, “I’m alright. And you?”

Sanemi ignored the question and went on. “I’m going to tell you something and you have to answer honestly. Or punch me.”

Giyuu raised an eyebrow. “What is it?”

“You’re a fucking idiot but I think I’ve fallen for you. So that makes me stupid. Stupid for falling in love with you.” Sanemi looked up. “Don’t you dare ask me why. I just have.”

Giyuu was at loss for words. “Oh.”

Oh. A stupid response. But what was he to say?

Sanemi tapped his foot on the ground. “I told you, respond honestly or punch me.”

Giyuu’s gaze met his and he paused. “Then, I think I like you too, Shinazugawa.”

Sanemi’s lip curled into a smile. “I hoped you did.”

Giyuu tilted his head. “Huh?”

“Nothing.” Sanemi turned. “But you must thank Sota for this development. I would never have thought I might like you if he hadn’t pushed me to help.” Then he left.

Giyuu felt as if the rain had suddenly cleared. As if the sun rose and warmed his face and brought him smiling. Smiling.

Except there was no rain or sun. He was inside.

Giyuu looked down at his hands and closed them into fists, a light smile playing on his face. Sanemi liked him. Sanemi liked him..

So like I was looking up names for them bc I can’t call them ‘the girl’ and ‘the boy’ forever-
Apparently Miyu means warrior, Kaito means sea/water, and Sota means the sound of wind
I think
Like idk why i kept the tabs open long enough for me to write it down here but whtv
Soooo yep, wanted their names to kinda be related to SaneGiyuu? Warrior bc they’re Hashira and sea and water for their breathing forms(water/wind)<33

Also! This wasn’t a request. Sorry, I decided not to do a request today since it’s a bit more freeing being able to write something that’s not a request for once TwT
Don’t get me wrong—I love requests—but I haven’t written much kny that wasn’t a request in some time so it was getting a little tiring, sorry T-T

I’m working on the req’s, I swear!! They’re just taking a bit to finish

Chapter 68
