If mistletoe hung above them (w/ their knowing knowledge of what it is):
KokuZan
Muzan walked mindlessly through the halls, finding himself at his office door. Kokushibo was there, looking up at something.
“Kokushibo?” the demon lord asked, wondering what the hell he was doing here.
“Hm? Master? Hello,” Kokushibo said, dipping in a respectful bow.Â
“What are you doing here?”
“There was this plant over your doorway and it wouldn’t come off,” Kokushibo explained. “Did you put it there?”
Muzan turned his gaze up and realized there was mistletoe hanging right above the two. He turned bright red and shook his head. “No, uhm, that’s…” his voice trailed off as he tried to oppress the growing warmth.Â
“Huh?”Â
“…mistletoe,” Muzan finished quietly. “It’s usually put up around Christmas time for… couples?”Â
Kokushibo inclined his head in confusion. “What does it do? Spread love?” he joked, smiling slightly.
“No, well,” Muzan said, stumbling over his words. “Well, people who walk or stand under it… if there’s two of them, they’re supposed to… kiss.”
“Oh? So if two people are standing under this plant they must kiss??” Kokushibo asked, more so explaining to himself. “Wait but we’re both standing under… Are we… are we supposed to-?”
Muzan shook his head rapidly, his hair fanning out around his head as he did so. “Only if you want to,” he said, then realizing that sounded as if he wanted to. Which he did, but he didn’t want Kokushibo to know that.Â
But now he couldn’t be any less conspicuous if he’d wanted to as Kokushibo’s face turned a lovely shade of pink.Â
“Ah,” he mumbled.Â
And after a moment of silence, with a hint of delicacy, Kokushibo leaned down slightly, his hair swooping more animatedly than it should be given credit for.Â
Muzan cowered, more so from his own feelings erupting in perhaps all of his seven hearts than Kokushibo. “Are we going to-? Will we-?” he asked quite stupidly for it was obvious what was going to happen.
Kokushibo nodded slightly. “Only if you want to,” he said quietly, mirroring Muzan’s earlier words with a lot more certainty that first given.
Muzan’s eyes fluttered closed in response. He did want to.
The Uppermoon closed the space between them, their lips fumbling in an awkward kiss at first but blooming quite nicely at the end.
When they parted, Muzan’s cheeks were as red as his eyes and he glanced up in order to divert his attention from his demon. He noticed then that the plant was gone and he sighed. This had to be Nakime’s doing, no?Â
Kokushibo gave him a hesitant smile.Â
SaneOba
Obanai glanced up, leaves flashing at the corner of his eye before he realized he and Sanemi were standing under mistletoe. Or more like, Kaburamaru was holding mistletoe in his mouth above the two Hashira.
“…Kaburamaru put that down,” Obanai said, swatting at the snake who merely dodged him.
Sanemi raised an eyebrow (.). “Iguro.”
“Hm?”
“Iguro, take off your bandages,” he said.
“What? But-” Obanai stuttered, flushing. He’d shown Sanemi the scar already, he trusted him. But… this?
“Will you do it or not?” Sanemi asked impatiently.
“Fine…” The Serpent Hashira reached for his bandages, slowly unraveling them.Â
And then Sanemi grabbed his chin and kissed him so suddenly that Obanai let out an embarrassing squeak of surprise.Â
When they parted, an amused grin split across Sanemi’s lips. “You should’ve heard yourself, Iguro.”Â
“Fuck off…”
SabiGiyuu
“Mistletoe?”
“Yeah, you’re supposed to kiss under it,” Sabito said, grinning.Â
“K…Kiss?!” Giyuu said, his eyes widening and he stumbled backwards. He flushed. “We have to kiss?”
“Why not?”
“I just… Nothing! Nothing,” he said, waving it off.Â
“So… can we?” the lavender-eyed boy asked excitedly.Â
“Uhm… Okay…” Giyuu mumbled, averting his eyes. His cheeks were bright red as he stepped closer.
“Hey, if you don’t wanna we don’t have to,” Sabito said, putting his hands on his hips as he considered his friend’s posture.
“No! It’s not that! I’ve… never kissed anyone before,” Giyuu explained, blushing profusely after.
“Oh. Me neither,” Sabito admitted, laughing.Â
“You haven’t?”
“Why sound so surprised…” he huffed, crossing his arms.
“You just seem… Nevermind,” Giyuu said, shaking his head.Â
“Experienced??” Sabito asked, grinning.
“No! Well, I guess.”Â
He laughed. “You’ve got me all wrong, Giyuu. I have confidence that’s it.”
Giyuu glanced up at him and, quickly so he wouldn’t change his mind, pressed his lips gently onto Sabito’s. Then he pulled away, a sweet smile playing on his face. “I can be confident too, Sabito!”
Quite surprised, Sabito blinked and then his expression took on an adoring one as he shook Giyuu. “You’re so cute when you’re like this, ‘Yuu. Can we kiss again? Please??”
SaneGiyuu
“Fuck no! I’m not going to kiss him!” Sanemi spat, crossing his arms. He didn’t move from where he was, though, and his cheeks were every so slightly pink.
“You have to kiss him~!!” Tengen insisted. “It’s only proper you do, both of you walked under the mistletoe at the same time.”
Giyuu stood quietly, examining the floor as he waited for something to happen.
“Can’t we just, like, rip off the plant,” Sanemi deadpanned, glaring up at the Sound Hashira.
“No! Just kiss him! It only takes a minute, just do it and get it over with,” Tengen huffed, rolling his eyes.
“Why.”
“Because! I want to see you two kiss,” he said, grinning.
“You fucking pervert…” Sanemi said under his breath.
“Hm?”
“Oh, fuck off, Uzui.”
Giyuu sighed, trying to make his presence known.Â
“Right! Tomioka! Why don’t you kiss Shinazugawa? Because he doesn’t have the guts to,” Tengen suggested, batting of Sanemi’s glare.
“…me?” Giyuu asked uncertainly.
“Yep.”
Tengen raised his eyebrows suggestively, making obnoxious kissing sounds. “C’mon!! Don’t be cowards and kiss!”
“I-” Giyuu started, but Sanemi cut him off.
“If we kiss, will you leave us be?”
“Sure…” Tengen said reluctantly.
“Alright.” Sanemi turned to Giyuu—who was very much confused. He stepped forward and tangled his hand in the black locks of the Water Hashira’s hair and kissed him more gently than expected.
When they parted, Tengen cheered and then left when Sanemi glared at him.
Giyuu stayed quiet, unmoving, and when Sanemi looked at him he noticed how flushed the Hashira looked.Â
“Uhm… Tomioka?” Sanemi said uncertainly, raising an eyebrow (don’t you dare…).Â
Giyuu looked up. “The mistletoe is still there. We’re still under it,” he said quietly.
“Hm, you’re a lot more than I would’ve expected, Tomioka,” Sanemi said, grinning and pressing his lips against the other more surely.
ShinoMitsu
Mitsuri flushed and she covered her face in her hands. “Ahhh..! Shinobu-San, there’s… there’s some mistletoe above us!” she said, more of a squeal than actual words.
“Mistletoe?” Shinobu asked, glancing up. She smiled. “Yes, I forgot. I think the girls went around the estate and hung them up earlier…”Â
“Shinobu-San, we’re under it!” Mitsuri said, pointing to herself then to her then back.Â
“Oh!” Shinobu, somehow not having realized that yet, turned pink. “Right.”
They were quiet for a moment before Mitsuri said, her nervousness leaking through her tone, “D…Do you want to…?”Â
Shinobu nodded, then realized what Mitsuri had meant and nodded again. “I… Sure.”
Her mood changing almost instantly, Mitsuri smiled and she leaned forward, her eyes fluttering closed.
Shinobu did the same, tiptoeing slightly since Mitsuri wouldn’t bend down.Â
Their lips met and Mitsuri, flustered, almost pulled away but managed to will her body not to as she deepened the kiss, her arms wrapping protectively around Shinobu.
UzuRen
He didn’t even know what was happening, only that Tengen’s lips were upon his own and he was being lifted up, his legs wrapping around the Sound Hashira’s waist.
When they pulled away, Kyojuro said, breathlessly, “Tengen..? Wha..?”
Tengen glanced up, motioning to something above them.
Mistletoe.
“Oh.”
He grinned. “Can I kiss you again, Kyojuro?”
“But… your wives?”
Tengen shrugged. “They don’t mind.”
“Are you sure?”
“We’ve spoken about it, Kyojuro. They said as long as it’s someone good for me then they don’t mind me having relationships with people other than them—especially since our marriage had originally been sort of arranged, as much as I love them with all my heart,” he explained, nodding to himself, his arms still holding Kyojuro up.
“…Okay.”
(I’m getting lazy)
DouKaza
(sorta excerpt from my Christmas oneshot bc i’m too lazy to write smth!!)
Douma dangled mistletoe over Akaza’s head, a grin on his face. “Akaza-dono! Let’s kiss!!” he said, going straight to the point.
Akaza glared at him. “Fuck no!”
“Why??” the blond whined, pouting.
“Because you look like shit and you are shit,” Akaza said, huffing and turning away.
“But… you like me!” Douma pointed out.
“My feelings have been corrupted.”
“I wanna kiss you, Akaza-dono!” he said impatiently.
“Too ba-“
He was interrupted when lips pressed against his in a fleeting moment.
They stared at each other for a second, then Akaza turned red and turned away, covering his face with his hands.
Douma smiled happily. “You’re pretty, Akaza-dono!”
“I hate you,” Akaza mumbled, the words too weak to be true.
“I love you too!”
GenMui
It was the middle of summer and Genya was peacefully sitting on a log when he realized Muichiro was next to him.
“Huh?- Uhm… Muichiro?” he said, confused as to when the Hashira had appeared there.
“Hi.”
“Hi…”
“Genya.”
“Yes?”
Muichiro looked up and Genya followed his gaze to a tree branch overhead. “Mistletoe. We have to kiss,” Muichiro said, his voice as non-chalant as ever.
Genya turned bright red. “I…Isn’t mistletoe for Christmas..?” he said uncertainly. “It’s in the middle of the summer!”
Muichiro gazed at him with unblinking eyes. “Okay?”Â
“…Okay.”
And then they kissed. :3Â
InoZen
“Mistletoe?” Inosuke said, confused as fuck.
“Yes,” Zenitsu said, sighing. “You’re supposed to put it up and then kiss under it. I already told you like five times!! Are you stupid???”
Inosuke crossed his arms. “I’m not stupid! You are, Monitsu!!” he said in a childish manner. “Anyways, why would anyone want to put up a plant that smells like toes and then kiss under it??”
“What? Since when did it smell like that…” Zenitsu said, raising an eyebrow in exasperation.
“You said it was called MistleTOE!! So it obviously smells like toes,” Inosuke said as if it was obvious.
“…That’s not the point.”
“You’re just dumb,” he said. He lifted his boar mask. “Monitsu.”
“Why do you always call me Monitsu but never by my actual name?” Moni-… Zenitsu whined, not noticing how Inosuke was leaning forward.
“Because that’s your name,” Inosuke said.Â
“It’s not!” And then he noticed that Inosuke had taken off his boar mask and was about an inch away from his face. He turned red and said, his voice quivering, “What are you doing…?”
“I put mistletoe on the cealing, we have to kiss now, Monitsu,” Inosuke said.
“Wha?- But-“Â
Inosuke pressed his lips against the blond’s and pulled back a second later. “You suck at kissing,” he said, huffing.
“You surprised me!!” Zenitsu protested.
“Then unsurprise yourself!”
“It doesn’t work like that!”
Zenitsu grumbled and kissed Inosuke, this time more surely.
Tanjiro, who had just walked into the room, quickly backed away.
KanaAoi
Aoi glanced up, feeling something brush against her head. “…Did you three put mistletoe everywhere?” she asked impatiently, her eyes latching onto the three giggling girls in the corner of the room.
Sumi nodded and dashed off, followed by the other two.Â
Aoi sighed. Better let them have their fun.
She turned and was met with Kanao only a foot away.
She let out a startled squeak. “Kanao! I didn’t notice you come inside,” she said, smoothing down her apron in an act of calming her nerves.
“Sorry. I was…” Kanao paused, glancing up. “Why is there a plant hanging there?”
Aoi looked up and flushed. “Uhm… Sumi, Naho, and Kiyo put it up.”
“What’s it for? Decoration?”Â
“Yes, yes, decoration, that’s all,” she said, waving it off.
“You’re supposed to kiss under it,” Shinobu said, from behind Aoi. She laughed when the two girls looked at her in surprise. “I’ll leave you two be now.”
Aoi turned back to Kanao. “Ehm… It’s alright, we don’t-“
“Do you want to?” Kanao interrupted, her voice quiet.
Aoi’s eyes widened. Kanao was speaking really freely today. “Uhm… Do you?” she countered, attempting to swerve around the question.
Kanao looked down, her cheeks flushed. “…Maybe,” she whispered.
InoTan
“What’s that?-” Inosuke asked, pointing above them. “Can I eat it?”
Tanjiro looked up. “Oh! That’s mistletoe, I think! When two people go under it at the same time, they’re supposed…”—he realized, then, that he and Inosuke were under it, his cheeks flushing red—”…to kiss,” he finished quietly.Â
Inosuke grinned. “I bet I can kiss better than you, Monjiro!!!” he said, cackling.Â
Tanjiro sighed. “Whatever you say-“
“I can show you!” Inosuke said, lifting his mask.
“Wha- What?!” Tanjiro exclaimed, his face erupting in color.
“I’ll show you!” he repeated, grabbing Tanjiro’s shoulders.
“Wai-” He was cut off by Inosuke’s lips pressing against his. He flailed around for a second before settling in the position, only for Inosuke to pull back, a lopsided grin spreading on his face.
“I beat you!” he said, placing his hands on his hips and doing a little wiggle dance around the room.
Tanjiro stood stock-still, in shock of what had just happened.
