“But isn’t Danny still in the hospital?” Zero walked next to Scott as they walked down the hall.

“Yeah. That’s where we’re going right now.” Stiles said as Zero trailed behind as he stopped to say hello to Elizabeth.

“Me an Zero will meet you there.” Zero immediately ran back towards Stiles when he heard his name.

“Why?” Stiles asked making Scott turn around his phone for Stiles to see a text message.

“Why is Zero going with you?” Stiles questioned Scott. He didn’t want to be separated from Zero, not after they had spent most of their time together already.

“Why wouldn’t he?” Scott asked grabbing Zeros hand and pulling him closer to him.

“Why would he?” Stiles asked grabbing Zeros other hand and pulling the boy back towards him.

Zero looked uncomfortable between the two best friends.

“Why not ask Zero where he wants to go?” Cora offered even though she enjoyed seeing Scott and Stiles argue, she didn’t like the fact that Zero looked uncomfortable.

“Doesn’t matter. He’s coming with me.” Stiles didn’t get a chance to argue before Scott was pulling a very confused Zero away.

“You can steal your best friends boyfriend.” Cora shook her head as she spoke.

“I’m not trying to steal his boyfriend.” Stiles denied. He didn’t have a crush on Zero, that would be weird.

“Yes you are.” Elizabeth sent a wink to Cora as she walked by making Stiles stare at the girl in shock.

“She’s right.” Cora muttered watching as Elizabeth sent her a smile before leaving the building.

***
“Zero.” Allison addressed the boy in surprise when he and Scott walked into her apartment as soon as she opened the door.

“Hello.” Zero greeted Allison cheerfully slightly swinging his and Scott’s laced hands. He looked around the apartment as Scott dragged him to Allison room where the girl held something in her hand.

“So I was looking through one of his drawers, and I found this.” Everyone froze when they heard the ding of the elevator.

“He wasn’t supposed to be back yet.” Scott let go of Zeros hand as he started to panic.

“What do I do? Where do I go?” Allison dragged Scott in the closest leaving Zero to figure out something on his own.

He quickly crawled under the bed sneezing quietly as a bunch of dust flew into his nose.

He should’ve went with Stiles. Stiles would never leave him to hide under a bed by himself. He listened to the sound of doors closing and slid from the under the bed at the same time Scott and Allison left the closet hand in hand.

“Lead the way.” Zero said blankly as he dusted himself off. His green sweater had seen better days.

Zero followed Allison and Scott to her dads office, him shutting the door while Scott and Allison walked over to the desk.

“See this map? Last time we were in here talking, my dad put a book over it. There was something about the way he did it. It was like… it was like he was trying to cover it.” Zero walked over to the desk and stared at the paper.

Everything looked boring.

“I don’t see anything.” Zero looked down at the map and noticed it was glass over it.

“Yeah, you can’t until you use this.” Allison pulled out a UV light and flashed it over the map. Zero didn’t pay much attention as he tried to fix his hair in the glass reflection.

“He’s been tracking and marking everything. Cora and Boyd at the bank,
the alphas in the penthouse above us, all of the dead bodies. He has a symbol for where someone was taken, and then a different mark for where the bodies are found, see?” Zero knew Argent wasn’t the darach. He did know that the man was really smart, especially if found out all this information.

“Now here’s the scary part. There have been six sacrifices, right? There are 12 markings on the map.” Zero was doing a terrible job at figuring anything out.

Nothing made sense.

“What? What does that mean? Did your dad find other bodies and not tell anyone?” Zero rubbed his eyes, if he was the sheriff and somebody was keeping bodies from him, he would freak out.

“I don’t think so. I think he knows where the body is going to be found, so one of these six locations, one of these, is where
Deaton could end up. I mean, it doesn’t tell us where he’s being kept right now, but…”

“But it’s close to figuring it out.” Zero assumed that was good news.

“Yeah.” Scott took his tiny box out and took a picture at the same time the elevator dinged.

“Does Allison’s dad not like you?” Zero asked Scott as they snuck out of the apartment creeping right behind Argents back.

***

“Deaton’s got to be at one of the six locations, but they’re all over town. I don’t know how we can get to all of them fast enough.” Scott spoke through the phone as he watched Zero chase around a butterfly.

“Say something.” Zero whispered to the butterfly as it flew around his head. Zero had came to the conclusion that the butterfly was the one talking to him the night at the hotel, his butterfly was really smart.

“Can you talk to me again?” Zero asked the butterfly that again gained the white around its body before landing on his head.

“Do you only do that when somethings important? Do you know about the darach? Do you know what i am? I’m a lot of things, but do you know what they are?” Zero shot rapid questions at the butterfly in his head not noticing Scoff walking over to him.

“Are you a boy or a girl? Are you neither? Is that i rude question?” Zero asked as the butterfly flew back on his hands.

“You don’t care about gender?” Zero hummed looking at the butterfly. It seemed to pretty to be real.

“Gender isn’t really important to me either. You should be whatever makes you happy.” Zero whispered to the butterfly with a small smile on his face.

“Zero we have to go.” Scott tapped Zero on the shoulder immediately making the butterfly fly away.

“Why’d you do that?” Zero asked watching as his butterfly flew away at lighting speed.

“We’re gonna go find Deaton now. Stiles found something.” Scott spoke putting his helmet on top of Zero’s head.

“Okay.”

***

“Okay, so, what does this kid’s homework
have to do with finding Deaton?” Zero nodded in agreement with Coras words. He had no idea what to do, so he pretended to be reading a paper.

“Because it’s not just homework, okay? It’s a project on geomagnetic fields. They flow through the earth. They can even be affected by lunar phases, all right? Now, look at this. This is a note from Harris on Danny’s proposal.” Zero tried to focus when he heard the voices in his head again.

He didn’t know why his butterfly want to talk now and not when he asked it to.

“I strongly advise you to choose another subject. “The ideas here, while innovative and thoughtful, “border on pseudo-science. Not suitable for class.” Lydia read the words off the paper as Zero tried to block out the sound of his butterfly. They weren’t being much help to their problem.

“Harris wasn’t just a sacrifice. He knew something.” Zero looked up from his paper with a surprised look on his face. He didn’t know Mr. Harris was dead.

“Now, check this out. Allison’s dad wasn’t the only one with a map, all right? Danny had one too.” Zero moved his head around uncomfortably as Stiles pulled out the map.

“Danny marked all the telluric currents, okay? Now, the weird thing about Beacon Hills is that it actually is a beacon. You wouldn’t believe how much energy flowing through the earth is around this town.” Stiles sent Zero a weird look as the boy kept moving his head.

“Stiles, look, they match.” Lydia pointed out as Zero placed his papers onto the table, he couldn’t focus.

“All right, there’s three places, right. Where they’re kidnapped, and then the place where their body was found.” Scott spoke as Zero tried to focus on anything else in the room.

His butterfly was supposed to be helping him not hurting him.

“Look, that’s right on the telluric current.” Lydia pointed out.

“So, maybe where he was sacrificed is somewhere in between.” Zero placed a head on his head, maybe the pounding would stop.

“Let me see that. You said there’s six more bodies to be found. Deaton’s one of them.
Got to be somewhere in between, right?” Stiles placed an X on different points on the map.

“Stop. He’s in the vault. He’s in the same vault.” Suddenly the pounding stopped, the voices inside his head stopped.

Zero didn’t know why.

***
Zero and Scott arrived at the old beacon hills bank. Stiles, Lydia, and Cora went to help Derek against the alphas. Apparently they had a plane, but it failed.

“Hurry up Zero.” Scott shouted as they ran up the stairs of the bank, Scott must have forgot Zero want a werewolf with super speed.

“I’m coming.” Zero shouted back as he ran to catch up with Scott

“In here.” Scott called out as they ran into the vault seeing Deaton being hanging by his wrist.

Maybe they were both idiots and completely ignored the circle of mountain ash both immediately being blasted back. Scott immediately standing up while Zero took longer to recover from the hit as he tried to stand up.

He barely registered at Scott was screaming until the boy was thrown down next to him, Zero staring in slight aw as he caught sight of the red in Scott’s eyes.

***
“How’d you find us?” Scott asked the sheriff as Zero leaned against his shoulder wanting to make sure Deaton was okay.

“The vials in the clinic with the Celtic symbols on ’em? I knew that one of ’em looked familiar.” The sheriff pointed towards the symbol on the middle of the vault floor.

“Sheriff, thank you for being one hell of a detective.” The sheriff nodded standing up.

“You bet. Let’s get you an ambulance.” The sheriff walked away and Deaton took that as a chance to pull Scott closer to him.

“Your eyes were red. Bright red.” Zero nodded as Deaton spoke, he was semi-surprised about it, but he thought it was cool.

“How is that possible?” Scoff asked as the sheriff popped in.

“Paramedics are on their way. I’ll be back
in half a minute.” The sheriff was out just as quickly as he came in.

“It’s rare. It’s something that doesn’t happen within 100 years, but every once in a while a beta can become an alpha without having to steal or take that power. They call it a true alpha. It’s one who rises purely on the strength of the character, by virtue, by sheer force of will.” Zero nodded in agreement to everything Zero had said.

“You knew this would happen.” Scott stated.

“I believed. From the moment I knew you
were bitten, I believed.”

“You’re not the only one.” The word of a potential true alpha being in beacon hills spreads fast.

“No. Deucalion isn’t after Derek. He’s after you.” Both Zero and Scott stared at Deaton now aware of that the alpha pack was bigger threat then before.
