Xu Jing drove me all the way to the bar, storming to the room number provided by the people from a small group.
The door was half-closed for some reason. Xu Jing and I stood at an angle where we could see everything inside.
I took a deep breath, readying myself before looking inside. The scene inside made me disbelief.
Pei Zhi Lin sat in the middle of the sofa, his collar slightly open, sitting arrogantly, while in front of him, a bodyguard in a black suit pressed Wang Jia Jia’s head firmly on the table, unable to move at all.
This scene was like a boss dealing with a traitor.
And Pei Zhi Lin’s unruly aura made me doubt it. My Brother Zhi Lin had always been accommodating and gentle.
I clearly heard Xu Jing swallow: “Honey, I think, maybe, we came to the wrong place today.”
He said and tried to pull me away, but Pei Zhi Lin suddenly looked up, staring straight at us.
Somewhat guilty.
But what was I guilty about? Hmph!
I gathered my thoughts and glared back at Pei Zhi Lin.
Pei Zhi Lin just chuckled, tidying his collar and standing up, pushing the bodyguard’s hand down again:
“Wang Jia Jia, if you trouble Ling Yi again, I don’t mind helping Miss Wang clean up the house.”
Wang Jia Jia was Wang’s illegitimate daughter, and her older sister was the legitimate daughter born by the official wife.
She also bullied me for a year after Pei Zhi Lin went abroad. But for the sake of the Ling family, my dad wanted me to marry her and worship her as a goddess.
Wang Jia Jia didn’t respond.
Pei Zhi Lin ignored her, walking quickly towards me, standing in front of me, then separated Xu Jing and my interlocked fingers, turning to occupy them himself.
His lips curved, his tone gentle: “Why are you here?”
I didn’t even know why, but I blurted out Xu Jing’s brainwashing: “I came to catch the cheater…”
After realizing, I felt burning hot.
Pei Zhi Lin’s smile didn’t change, only looking into my eyes as if hiding a hook:
“But I have no affair for you to catch. I’m very faithful to you. Did you misunderstand me? How are you going to compensate me?”
Huh? How come I owe him after a few words!
With our fingers interlocked, I pinched Pei Zhi Lin hard: “It was you who made me misunderstand first! You should compensate me!”
After saying this, I was smug. I was using his own way to treat him.
Pei Zhi Lin wanted to say something, but Xu Jing interrupted: “Hmm, am I a third wheel here?”
He chuckled, his aura receding: “It’s over, let’s go home… and also send Miss Wang home.”
I suppressed the doubts in my heart, following him out, but heard Wang Jia Jia’s heart-wrenching shout behind me:
“Ling Yi, do you know what Pei Zhi Lin did behind your back?”
“You know nothing, idiot!”
“You kneeling to lick my shoes was too cheap for you.”
My blood seemed to freeze, my face pale, not daring to look at Pei Zhi Lin.
Pei Zhi Lin turned: “Shut her up, send her to Miss Wang.”
This scared Wang Jia Jia.
But I didn’t care. Reason and emotion were both screaming at me to run.
The next second, Pei Zhi Lin picked me up: “Let’s go home.”

After parting with Xu Jing, Pei Zhi Lin took me back to his usual large flat.
I shrank in the corner of the sofa, taking a long while to adjust, trying not to laugh too awkwardly. I asked Pei Zhi Lin:
“Was the call you received yesterday from Wang Jia Jia?”
Pei Zhi Lin handed me a cup of water, nodding.
It seemed he knew everything and had seen those pictures that made me hate to the extreme.
I asked him hoarsely: “Did you see them?”
Pei Zhi Lin didn’t speak but sat next to me, forcibly straightening my body, his long arms wrapping around my waist.
I buried my head in his shoulder, crying silently.
Pei Zhi Lin’s hand moved from my neck to my lower back:
“It won’t happen again, don’t be afraid, baby.”
“I won’t leave you anymore.”
Sorrow was replaced by accelerated heartbeat and joy, my cries stopped when my eyes swelled like peaches.
Pei Zhi Lin reached to mess up my hair, then walked into the bathroom to prepare a hot compress for me.
I grabbed my phone, trying to distract myself, but found several messages from Wang Jia Jia:
ã€If Pei Zhi Lin knew the love letter he wrote was intercepted by you, what do you think would happen?】
ã€I’ve already told him.】
That letter was written by Pei Zhi Lin before going abroad, telling me it was for the only one in his heart.
The male lead loved the female lead, and as the male lead’s bro, I should have delivered that letter to Wang Jia Jia, but a rainstorm ruined it completely.
So Wang Jia Jia bullied me.
Now Pei Zhi Lin knew too. How would he treat me? I dared not think.
I was like an ant on a hot pan, utterly flustered at the moment.
But I’d just put on my shoes when Pei Zhi Lin’s voice, full of anger, came from behind:
“Where do you think you’re going?”Â
