(i know, different) Jake POV:

I sat uncomfortably on the edge of the toilet seat. All day, I hadn’t been feeling good, not during vocal lessons, dance practice, or when the group went out to eat together for dinner. So here I sat, crunched over the toilet seat and panting. I hadn’t thrown up, which was a good sign, nor did I think it was food poisoning, which was also good.

I picked up my phone from where I had set it down before using the toilet, checking the time I had a mental realization that it had been close to 15 minutes. And for a fact, I knew that if I stayed in here any longer, Jungwon or Sunoo would come in and ask if I needed a lifeguard.

Giving a great heave, I pushed myself off the toilet seat and flushed. I stumbled slightly over to the sink, probably because of the small headache forming at the front of my head. I could start hearing footsteps walk towards the bathroom door as I dried off my hands on the towel.

“Hyung?” The door was pushed open, and I was hit with the nasty feeling of cold air making a harsh shiver run up my spine. Sunoo was standing on the other side in a pink tank top and baby blue shorts, confusing me greatly on how he wasn’t cold. “Oh, sorry,” he started closing the door before I stopped him.

“I finished,” I mumbled, pulling the door back open. “Just knock next time.” Before I could hear his response, I stumbled aimlessly away from the door.

I could feel the goosebumps start to form on my arms as I walked the halls of our dorm. It was surely cold in here, and I did not agree with my now quite prominent headache. It was starting to feel like someone was hitting it with a hammer, probably Niki, if I had to name someone from our group. My head pain was so distracting that I didn’t notice I had collided with something till a voice spoke up.

“Jake-hyung, are you good?” Jungwon was looking down at me, his face covered in a light coat of pink coloring. “I’m sorry. I wasn’t looking where I was going.”

With my head already hurting, Jungwon’s ranting wasn’t helping in the slightest. It felt as if he was trying to make my head hurt even more.

“-Hyung, are you sure you’re listening?” Jungwon asked, and I nodded absentmindedly.

“Yes, Won,” I said as I pushed myself off of the ground, but the way I said it sounded a little bit like ‘yesh’. I could see the concern in Jungwon’s eyes as I stood up.

“You sure?” He asked again, annoying me slightly that he kept asking.

“Just tired,” I said a little irritated as I pushed past him.

Once I made it to the safety of my room, I collapsed exhaustedly on my bed. My head was pounding, and I still felt cold as I set my phone on the bedside table. Too tired to change out of my clothes, I decided to just get some rest, hoping to sleep off whatever I had going for me.

Only to my demise the only things that slept that night were my members. I lay painfully on my bed, staring pitifully at the wall. My whole body was freezing even with the seven blankets I had cocooned myself in. My head was pounding as hard as ever, and I could hardly focus. I was also starting to develop a nauseating feeling along with some chills.

I would verbally groan anytime my stomach felt like assaulting me. Before I knew it, the sun had started to seep through the window behind my shades, partly blinding me.

A sudden tapping against my door made me twist my neck to look at it.

“Hyung,” a voice said from the other side. Probably Jungwon, coming to wake me up.

Too lazy to respond, I just watched the door open confirming my guess.

“Hyung, you need to wake up,” Jungwon said as he walked in. Once our eyes met, his eyes returned to have the same look of concern. “Did you sleep?”

Did I really look that bad? Because I knew as sure as hell I felt like crap.

“Yeah,” I lied as I pushed myself into a sitting position. My head instantly felt as if it had been his with a semi-truck. I knew that even though Jungwon nodded and told me to get ready, he knew I was lying. He was our leader, of course he knew.

I cringed, remembering that I slept in my clothes from yesterday and that I in fact wouldn’t be able to wear them. Looking around my room, I found a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie. I was so cold to the point that my hands were shaking as I pulled my clothes off.

A small feeling of annoyance filled me as I headed out into the living room. I felt like sh*t and I just wanted to lay down in my bed and cry. Why couldn’t I just feel better? My condition hadn’t gotten better like I had hoped, and really, it had just gotten worse.

When I, Sunoo, and Jugnwon joined the others in the van for our schedule, I wasn’t fazed as they began to talk. I just stared out the window. If anyone tried asking me if I was okay, I would just shake them off and tell them yes.

As we neared the company building, I was thankful because I really needed to pee, having not done that yet today. Everyone, as far as I knew, went straight to room 4, our practice room. While I went to the bathroom. After taking a quick pee in the urinal, I pulled up my pants and washed my hands. My chills had gone down, but my headache continued to stay. The Tylenol I had taken seemed to be helping a little thankfully.

As I went open, the bathroom door I was stopped and pushed back when a hand came out from the other side. Heeseung walked into the bathroom and shut the door, his hand still on my shoulder, which made my skin tingle.

“Jake,” Heeseung began as he stared into my eyes. “Are you okay?”

I opened my mouth to say yes, but he cut me off.

“-Don’t say yes just so you can end this conversation and leave, because I know you’re not fine. You don’t look it.”

A small amount of rage filled me as Heeseung kept looking at me. Knowing that I wouldn’t be getting out of this scot-free.

“I’m tired, alright,” I said attitude, coating my tongue. “I didn’t get much sleep, and I’m tired.”

Heeseung dropped his hand and looked at me square in the eyes. I wasn’t lying with what I told him, but I also wasn’t telling him the full truth.

Sighing, Heeseung opened the door and brought me to the practice room. Dance was going just like I had expected. I wasn’t sharp, and I kept messing up some of the moves. No one got verbally frustrated with me, but I noticed that they were all getting a little annoyed that we kept needing to stop.

Only when Niki had offered to help me for the thousandth time with one of the moves I couldn’t seem to get did so finally I snapped.

“No Niki, I don’t need your stupid help!” I yelled, feeling no remorse. My head was pounding, and the chills had returned. “I’ve already told you that multiple times. Not everyone is a superstar at dancing like you!”

“Jake!” I could hear someone yell, but I was already going.

I turned to Sunoo, who looked shocked. “And you!” I started on him. “Do you understand the f*cking concept of knocking before you answer, or are you just retarded?!”

“SIM JAEHYUN!” Someone pulled roughly on my shoulder which made my head spin. I went to yell at them but was stopped when I felt something hit my face. They had slapped me, but no one had ever slapped anyone in our group till now.

The person turned me around, and I faced Jay’s angry face. His eyebrows were knitted together, and he had a look in his eyes that would scare anyone off.

“What’s wrong with you, kid?” He asked, his voice dripping in anger. “Yelling and cursing?”

I managed to get out of his hold and back into a wall. That’s when I noticed it was only me, Jay, Jungwon, and Heessung. Sunghoon must’ve taken the other two out of the room. My pain had been completely covered in anger as Jungwon took a step towards me. He was scary when he got mad, possibly the scariest.

“What are you going to do leader?” I asked cockily, not caring about the amount of sarcasm used. I was tired and hurt, nothing no one seemed to care about.

“Don’t talk to me like that,” Jungwon shot back, he hated it whenever we called him leader in an inappropriate setting. “And you know exactly what I’m going to do.”

I felt Jungwon reach for my arm but instantly pulled back when he touched it. I could see in his eyes something flash in between the anger and disappointment he had. The other two seemed confused as Jungwon went silent, including me. However, this must’ve been the perfect time for a head-splitting white pain to form in my head, along with a set of rough chills.

“Hyung,” Jungwon’s face seemed to have softened along with his voice as he looked at me. “Are you sick?”

I felt hot tears start forming in my eyes as I gave a small nod. All the anger I originally had boiling inside me had now turned into some form of pain.

“What do you mean?” Heeseung said, turning to look at the youngest. I could see the utter confusion from the two on the side.

“Feel his skin he’s burning!” Jungwon explained.

Heeseung reached to my forehead and grimaced as the back of his palm touched my skin. “You’re burning up. Why didn’t you tell us?”

I could only shake my head at his question as I felt myself slide down the wall so I was sitting on the floor. Jungwon crouched down in front of me and began whipping the small trail of tests that had begun to fall from my eyes.

“Oh hyungie,” he whispered as he looked at me like I was a lost puppy. “How long have you been feeling this way?”

“Yesterday,” I mumbled quietly.

I ended up shutting my eyes slowly as I heard people moving around me. The was a small beep and I heard someone say, “38.3°C. That’s pretty high.”

I could also feel someone start removing my sweatshirt which made me whine. I wasn’t wearing anything underneath, plus I didn’t want to get cold.

“Easy, shhh,” I heard Jungwon whisper. “We have to remove your hoodie so you don’t overheat hyung.” There was a moment of silence as I started drifting off to Dreamland. The last sentence registered in my fogged-up mind was, “You still have to apologize to Sunoo and Riki.”

HEY YALL!!! Oh, I had a lot of fun writing this prompt. Actually a lot of the requests I get are fun to do because most of the time they push me to go out of a comfortable level I would normally do it. Though I’ve lied, I said this book wasn’t going to have any swearing because I find it disrespectful. But here I went and wrote some snores.

Anyways did anyone also watch the SKZ AMA performance? Like as a hard core of “NSYNC for as long as I remember, to now also being a Stay that was probably one of my favorite kpop performances.

Thank you and have a good rest of your week, all groups have open requests.
