Transmigrated Into A Waste Who Married The Villain. Chapter 30: Her Plea for Help

A+ A-

Qu Weiyin flew steadily on her sword, seemingly taking into account that Luo Jinxiao was still behind her. After flying for two hours, Lu Fanzhi, who had been lagging behind, finally couldn’t hold out any longer and loudly demanded a break.

Without a hint of breathlessness, Qu Weiyin turned her head, glanced at her lightly, and said, “There’s a village ahead; let’s land there and rest.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Fanzhi felt as if she had been granted a reprieve. She bowed repeatedly to Qu Weiyin before darting away towards the village.

To avoid alarming the villagers, they descended outside the town. The moment Lu Fanzhi’s feet touched the ground, she squatted down, utterly exhausted and dizzy.

“Tired after just two hours? Useless,” Yan Ying remarked as she sheathed her sword and gracefully landed before Lu Fanzhi.

This time, Lu Fanzhi didn’t have the energy to argue back; she merely shook her fist in frustration as a form of protest.

Luo Jinxiao jumped down from Qu Weiyin’s sword, quickly running over to help Lu Fanzhi up. She quietly infused some of her spiritual energy into her, smiling as she asked, “Are you alright?”

With that boost, Lu Fanzhi began to recover. She waved her hand dismissively at Luo Jinxiao, expressing her displeasure, “Why do you get someone to carry you while I have to manage on my own?”

“Well then, why don’t you let Master Uncle carry you afterward while I fly on my sword?” Luo Jinxiao responded with feigned seriousness.

Lu Fanzhi glanced nervously at Qu Weiyin, who remained standing still, and shivered, quickly shaking her head. “Forget it; I wouldn’t dare.”

Chang Siyu had just circled around the village and now returned to the group. He landed a few steps away from Qu Weiyin and leaned in to whisper, “Master Uncle Qu, since their cultivation levels are insufficient, it may not be wise to travel overnight. We still have some distance to cover to get to Xumi Mountain Villa, and there are no other resting spots within a hundred miles. It would be better to rest here for today.”

Qu Weiyin maintained her composure and stepped slightly away from him, nodding in agreement.

Chang Siyu smiled broadly, displaying his white teeth, and then turned to beckon everyone forward as they made their way to the town entrance. The town was small and had no gates; a two-foot-long wooden sign, weathered and worn by the elements, stood at the roadside. On it, three characters could be faintly discerned: Pingxi Town.

There seemed to be few visitors to the town, lending it an air of desolation. The stone pathway was pockmarked and uneven, with some areas collecting puddles of water. As the townspeople noticed the approaching group, they all lifted their gazes to watch.

Qu Weiyin’s pace involuntarily slowed, and Luo Jinxiao, walking closely behind her, noticed this change clearly.

She seemed a bit tense.

“Excuse me, young lady, who are you, and what business brings you here?” An elderly man approached them, leaning heavily on a cane. His head was wrapped in tattered cloth, and if not for his relatively clean clothing, he could almost be mistaken for a beggar.

Qu Weiyin instinctively moved to the side, and although her expression remained unchanged, there was an unusual flicker of panic in her gaze.

Seeing this, Luo Jinxiao quickly stepped in front of Qu Weiyin, wearing a gentle smile as she addressed the old man, “We’re just passing through, sorry for the disturbance.”

“Passing through.” The old man nodded, then scrutinized Luo Jinxiao closely. “There’s an inn ahead, but this town isn’t very safe. Be sure not to wander out after dark.”

His voice was very hoarse and carried an eerie quality, causing a chill to creep down one’s spine even under the bright sun.

“Thank you, elder,” Luo Jinxiao replied, her eyes shifting slightly as she maneuvered past him. Suddenly, she realized that Qu Weiyin hadn’t followed her and turned back to find her still standing in place, wearing an unfriendly expression directed at the old man.

“Master Uncle?” Luo Jinxiao called softly, stepping forward to grasp Qu Weiyin’s wrist and pull her toward herself. “What’s wrong?”

Qu Weiyin, taken aback by the sudden pull, had no choice but to follow a few steps before shaking Luo Jinxiao’s hand off. “I just feel something is off here.”

“What did you notice?” Luo Jinxiao halted and turned to observe. All she could see around them were the ordinary streets marked by the passage of time—thick moss covered the ground, and there were occasional passersby hauling donkey carts, casting them curious glances.

Qu Weiyin shook her head, her hand moving slowly toward the sword at her back. “I’m not quite sure; let’s just be cautious. We should find a place to stay before dusk.”

Luo Jinxiao nodded in agreement and extended her hand with a smile. “After you.”

Qu Weiyin ignored her, sidestepping Luo Jinxiao’s hand and striding ahead. The two quickly caught up with Chang Siyu and the others who had been walking in front.

“Jinxiao, where did you run off to? We found an inn, and we’ll be staying here tonight,” Lu Fanzhi exclaimed as she dragged Luo Ning along, both of them looking excited.

Luo Jinxiao recounted what the old man had said, but Lu Fanzhi waved her hand dismissively, seemingly unconvinced. “We are cultivators, so what do we have to fear from a little unrest?”

Nearby, Luo Ning frowned with concern and said to Luo Jinxiao, “Sister, wouldn’t it be better if we continued on our way? What if there really is something here…”

“Even if there is something, isn’t our purpose as cultivators to exterminate demons and rid the world of harm? If we could help them, wouldn’t that be a good thing?”

Luo Jinxiao’s heart skipped a beat at her own words, and she hurriedly rushed forward, covering Lu Fanzhi’s mouth. What was she saying about hunting demons when Qu Weiyin was right behind them?

“Mmm mmm mmm…” Lu Fanzhi waved her hands, and Luo Jinxiao glared fiercely at her, urging her to be quiet.

“What are you all messing around with here?” Qu Weiyin called out as she caught up, giving Luo Jinxiao a cold, scathing look. Luo Jinxiao quickly flashed her a big grin, showing her teeth.

Qu Weiyin silently averted her gaze.

“Guests, how can I help you?” The innkeeper, who had been reclining on a chair enjoying the breeze, immediately sprang up with a smile as he saw the group approaching.

Chang Siyu counted them and replied, “Six. Do you have any available rooms?”

Luo Jinxiao noticed the innkeeper’s troubled expression and couldn’t help but think, surely it wouldn’t be like those stories where there are no rooms available for a large group of people; if that were the case, wouldn’t she end up having to share a room with—

“Good news! We have plenty of rooms available! You can have as many as you need. Please, come upstairs!” the innkeeper said with a beaming smile.

Luo Jinxiao was momentarily stunned.

The inn was surprisingly spacious, with two full rows of rooms. Although it looked a bit old, it was clean enough. The group quickly found their respective accommodations. Luo Ning insisted on staying next to Luo Jinxiao, while Yan Ying inexplicably chose to sleep on the other side of Luo Jinxiao’s room.

Inside the room, there was only a simple bed and a table—modest and plain. After entering, Luo Jinxiao took out the bedding she had brought from No Regrets Sect from her pouch, laid it out comfortably, and finally lay down to rest with satisfaction.

Just as she was about to close her eyes, she noticed a surge of spiritual energy burst through the wall, flying right past her and slowly drifting toward the opposite wall, before disappearing into it.

After a while, just as she had shut her eyes, another wave of spiritual energy surged back from the opposite side, drifting past her face and entering the wall.

Then, the flow of spiritual energy became more frequent, and she could clearly feel the anger from a dispute between the two. Finally, unable to endure it any longer, Luo Jinxiao jumped out of bed and opened the door.

As soon as she swung the door open, the noise faded away into a serene stillness. Realizing that she wouldn’t be able to rest for a while, she decided to head downstairs for a meal.

There were hardly any guests downstairs. Qu Weiyin was sitting in the corner, a cup of her magically conjured Yunwu tea in front of her, the fragrant steam wafting through the air. Luo Jinxiao paused for a moment, then their eyes met as Qu Weiyin lifted her gaze.

Luo Jinxiao rubbed her head awkwardly and gradually walked down the stairs.

“Why aren’t you resting? Why are you down here?” Qu Weiyin asked.

“I can’t stay in there. What about you, Master Uncle? Why are you here?” Luo Jinxiao replied as she approached her.

“I don’t need to rest,” Qu Weiyin said, taking a sip of her tea. Her red lips parted slightly, looking glossy and alluring.

Luo Jinxiao instinctively shifted her gaze away, suddenly noticing that the innkeeper approached to refill Qu Weiyin’s tea. Qu Weiyin quickly stood up and stepped aside to avoid him.

“Miss, you are truly stunning. In my ten-plus years of running this inn, I have never seen anyone as celestial as you,” the innkeeper said with a smile. “You must be from a wealthy family, but may I ask what brings you to our little town?”

“Just passing through,” Qu Weiyin replied quietly without looking at him.

“This place is quite remote; where have you come from?” The innkeeper, possessing a gregarious demeanor, continued to probe as if he enjoyed conversing. Qu Weiyin appeared increasingly uncomfortable with the engagement, glancing towards Luo Jinxiao for help.

Her phoenix eyes subtly lifted, still deeply enigmatic, but they held a hint of plea. Luo Jinxiao’s heart stirred, and she quickly stepped in front of Qu Weiyin. With a smile, she addressed the innkeeper, “We come from Wuzhong and are on our way to Zhai Hai.”

“Wuzhong? That’s so far! I’ve lived here my whole life and have never been to such a distant place,” the innkeeper exclaimed, his eyes brightening with awe.

Luo Jinxiao cast a glance back at Qu Weiyin, only to see her retreating behind her, head bowed, making it difficult to read her expression.

“But the people here are all like this, stuck here for a lifetime,” the innkeeper said, shaking his head. Suddenly, he raised his voice, “Xiuer! Where do you think you’re going?”

The abrupt reprimand startled Luo Jinxiao, and she instinctively raised her hand to shield Qu Weiyin, unaware of the focused gaze Qu Weiyin directed toward her back.

The innkeeper quickly dashed out, seizing a young girl by her braid and yanking her inside from the entrance, throwing her to the ground. The girl cried out in surprise, tumbling to the floor and knocking over a chair in the process.

Qu Weiyin stirred slightly behind Luo Jinxiao.

“Are you trying to run away again?” The innkeeper, who had just been smiling, now transformed into a menacing figure, speaking harshly as he grabbed the girl and attempted to drag her into the room.

The girl looked pitiful, shaking her head and crying out desperately, refusing to comply with his harsh treatment. Despite her protests, the innkeeper continued dragging her across the floor, her clothes getting dirty in the process.

Luo Jinxiao turned to look at Qu Weiyin, noticing a slight hint of compassion on her otherwise frosty face, although it was clearly being suppressed.

Blinking a few times, Luo Jinxiao suddenly lowered her head and asked quietly, “Master Uncle, can I intervene?”

“Go if you want; why ask me?” Qu Weiyin replied indifferently.

Luo Jinxiao touched her head and bit her lip, saying, “If Master Uncle doesn’t wish to get involved, then I won’t stir up trouble.”

“Luo Jinxiao!” Qu Weiyin suddenly raised her gaze at her, her phoenix eyes filled with anger.

“I’ll go right now!” Luo Jinxiao exclaimed, startled by the intensity of Qu Weiyin’s gaze. She hurried forward and grasped the innkeeper’s wrist, pulling him to the side, nearly causing him to stumble.

The innkeeper gasped for breath, momentarily taken aback by the unexpected strength of the slender girl. But he quickly dismissed it, saying, “Don’t worry about it, esteemed guest. This is my daughter. She’s not right in the head and constantly tries to run outside. The whole town knows that she’s possessed!”

“Possessed?” Luo Jinxiao frowned at the term and turned to meet Qu Weiyin’s eyes, where both of them reflected mutual surprise.
