I was struggling to get to school today. I really hoped that Eliot took a hint yesterday and from what I can tell it seems like he has.
I’m looking around as I make my way to my classroom and it finally seems like luck is on my side because no Eliot has been in my field of view since I got here, nor have I found any random notes around. It feels quiet.. too quiet.
I brush my thoughts away trying to distract myself from thinking too much. Why does it even matter if he is here or not? I can easily keep him away from me.
Next time I see his face I’ll just tell him straight up to leave me alone!
I heard footsteps making their way towards me getting louder and louder with every second, and when I lifted my head from the ground, I saw Matthew dramatically running towards me from the other end of the hall.
When he caught up to me I can tell he had something to say, seemingly something important, but he was struggling to catch his breath first.
His chest moved up and down and it seemed like his patient was running low. “Sam!” Matthew finally says, as soon as he could breathe again.
“Yeahhh?” I can’t help but laugh at him. It’s quite nice though, since Mat always has had the ability to distract me with his silliness and I distraction is more than what I need at the moment.
“I actually managed to both make the track AND the lyrics for the song project!” He loudly announces.
…?
THE SONG PROJECT! I TOTALLY FORGOT!
“Why are you not saying anything? Aren’t you proud of me!” Matthew is pretty clearly proud of himself, as he should be but I can’t lie I forgot everything about his project.
I have no clue how. I have like half a track but no lyrics or anything like that. I’m fucked.
“I’m very proud of you Mat… but uhmm.” I already know he is gonna make fun of me so I take my time getting the question out.
“When’s it due for..?” I ask quietly, almost whispering.
I squinted my eyes hoping for the best reply to my question as Matthew’s eyes widened in shock.
“YOU FORGOT ABOUT THE PROJECT!!” He yelled, making me extremely worried considering he isn’t making fun of me. That can only mean it’s due soon.
“You! Samuel Rogers! The top of class-” I broke him off before he could continue.
“Yes, Mat… I forgot”
I don’t know how I’ll finish the project on my own and Matthew has already finished his, so I can’t even ask him to it with me.
“It’s due tomorrow Samuel!” Matthew actually looks worried but I know myself well enough to say that I can do it. I just gotta stay awake most of the night and I’ve got it.
Me and Mat continued walking to class as we talked about how I’ll finish the project in time.
I found a seat in the back of the class today hoping I could write down some lyrics during class. Looking out the window while I was thinking, I tapped my notebook with my pen making a drum beat to beat to help me concentrate.
My eyes drifted towards the door of the classroom and I saw Eliot walking in. His smile is still as bright as ever, lighting up the entire room… not just the room, that smile could light up the entire world.
My cold actions seemingly wasn’t enough to get him out of that confident, handsome boy act.
When Eliot spotted me, he was making it pretty obvious that he was walking straight in my direction with the biggest grin ever and my heart started beating faster.
“Hey Samuel, mind if I sit here.” Eliot asked but he had already sat down on the chair next to me before I got a chance to even open my mouth.
I’m not in the mood to deal with this guy right now, I just need to get some lyrics down on my paper.
“Do I have a choice?” I sighed and looked the other way pretty annoyed with this guy already.
“Nope!” He seems so unfazed by how cold I’m acting towards him. I’m quite impressed but of course I won’t show it.
“So what’s your excuse for avoiding me?” Eliot continued as he pulled up his textbooks from his backpack.
I give him a clearly fake smile. “Maybe I just wanna study with no distraction.” I let out a sigh and leaned my head on one of my hands as I looked the other way.
Eliot leaned in a bit and his eyes were wide showing a slight sparkle. “Awh I’m a distraction now? You’re flattering me.”
“More like a nuisance.” I turn away again not wanting to look at his face but this time I find myself smiling slightly. Get it together Samuel.
“You secretly love it.” Eliot teased and reached over nudging my shoulder slightly. “Admit it, you missed me.” He continued, now putting his head on his hands as well, almost mimicking my pose.
“We’ve barely seen each other Eliot.” I roll my eyes at him.
“More of a reason for you to miss me.” Eliot’s smile suddenly turns into a smirk before he continues.
“And trust me Samuel, I’ve seen most of you.”
I didn’t know how to respond. I already knew what he was referring to but I really can’t help getting flustered but who wouldn’t be. I stayed silent not wanting to continue that conversation. All I hear is Eliot slightly laughing.
“Sooo, I heard you haven’t finished your project yet.” Eliot moves his head forward trying to get eye contact with me.
How does Eliot know that?
“If you’re free after class then we can get something to drink and I can help you, I’m actually a great songwriter!” Eliot sounded quite enthusiastic about the idea but I have to let him down. Somehow I felt bad about it.
I hesitated, I really do wanna spend time with Eliot but I don’t wanna get hurt and I gotta keep my priorities straight… which is pretty hard when I’m gay.
I yawn pretending to be tired, hoping that would make me less appealing to work with. “I don’t know, I have a lot of work to do and it’s gonna take all night to get it done by tomorrow.”
Eliot pouted and his eyes turned sad. Quite similar to the eyes of a puppy who’s toy you took away from them.
“Come on Rogers, I promise I won’t be a distraction. We both haven’t finished the project so why not do it together?”
Rogers? This caught my off guard for two reasons. First one, how the fuck does he know my last name. Second, I’ve only ever been called rogers when I was in kindergarten. I didn’t expect anyone to call me that, especially not some random hook up by the name Eliot.
For some reason this awoke some kind of childhood nostalgia in me that I couldn’t quite place. It was almost pleasant hearing Eliot calling me that.
I sighed suddenly realizing how hard it is to say no to a boy like Eliot. “Fine but we’re only doing this because I need the track finished.”
“Great! You won’t regret it. I promise!” His face lit up with excitement as he turned to look at the other end of the classroom where our teacher was on his way in.
Class started but I’m struggling to keep focus. Eliot’s presence is far too distracting and it’s definitely not in a good way. I couldn’t help but glance over at him from time to time. I got hints of his perfume scent by just sitting near him.
I wonder why a boy like him would waste time trying to persuade someone like me. He’s.. interesting for sure.
As the lecture started getting boring I saw Eliot pulling out a pen and a yellow sticky note. He scribbled something on the paper and I tried peeking over a bit thinking it was related to class. He slid it over to my table as he gave me a smile.
Curious, I took it and looked at it to find a doodle of the two of us with music notes surrounding us.
This is the first time he has given me a note that wasn’t overly flirty, this note was actually quite sweet. I smiled a little but stopped as soon as I noticed how big my smile was.
“Focus Eliot!” I whispered, seeing how Eliot couldn’t contain his little chuckle.
“I just wanted to see you smile.” Eliot whispered back, winking at me. God he’s a tease.
I shook my head and heat started rushing throughout my entire body and to my head. I don’t get how Eliot gets me smiling so easily, it’s almost uncomfortable. I can’t help but feel that I’m losing control over my own actions when he is around.
When class ended, I packed up my stuff and headed out. I walked across campus with Eliot right behind me. He finally caught up to me and kept talking about all sorts of things. He kept the mood up, always making jokes and flirtatious comments.
“What are you scared of Rogers?” Wliot suddenly asked. There was that nickname again.
I stopped walking and looked over at Eliot seeing that he is genuinely curious.
“That’s none of your damn business!” I didn’t mean to yell. I don’t know what happened. Elliot’s head turned to look at the ground, he’s visibly upset.
“I’m sorry.” Eliot says, raising his head up again to look at me.
“Just come to my place later then we will work on the project.” I say and start to walk away from the awkward conversation.
“Rogers! Wait!” I turn around.
“How am I supposed to find your place if I don’t know where you live?” Eliot asks, tilting his head slightly.
“Right.”
I hand him my phone so he can add his number to it. When he gave it back to me he just turned around without saying anything and just left.
I looked at what he put his name on my phone and realized why he left so fast.
Hubby <3
This time I didn’t get mad. All I could do was smile like a dumbass on my phone..
