“…..finally, we’re almost done.” Chaewon said as she stretched her back after leaning forward for quite a long time due to being focused on finishing the review. Y/N who was with her followed her actions by stretching his back as well.

His phone screen then lit up notifying him of a message from a certain someone. He opened his phone to see whether it was Yuri who had just messaged him or not.

I’m almost done, oppa. You can come here now.

“Chaewon-ah, i think i have to go now.” Y/N said as he slid his phone into his pocket now looking at her.

“Eh? You have somewhere to go after this?” Chaewon asked looking at him getting up from his seat.

Flashback

“By the way, oppa. Can i ask you a favor?”

“Yes?”

“Can you please keep this a secret from the others?” Yuri asked.

“Why?”

“I don’t want to make everybody to be worried about me. You’re the only one i can count on right now until the guy is gone, so please. Can you do that?”

“…i have some errands i have to do.” Y/N told her.

I just lied to her again.

“You do? I shouldn’t keep you here for long then. You should hurry.” Chaewon said to him.

“What about our task?” Y/N asked due to their task still unfinished.

“It’s only a little bit more. I can manage later. Also, this task is due next week so i  don’t think we should rush to finish it today.”

“We’ll work more on it tomorrow since it’s a group task. Are you gonna leave now as well?” Y/N suggested and asked at the same time.

“I guess we could continue tomorrow. Also, since you’re going, might as well.” She said as she placed her laptop inside her backpack. She took her bag handle in one swoop and was ready to go.

“I’ll accompany you to the bus stop then.” Y/N said as he took his bag as well.

Why do i feel….. uncomfortable?

Time skip

“Oppa!” Yuri called out to Y/N after spotting him not far from her spot while waving her hand. Y/N returned her wave as he approached the little hamster who’s all smiles.

“Shall we get going?” Y/N asked right after he arrived.

“Yes.” She got up from her seat and stood next to him ready to depart.

“Did Chaewon-unnie ask?” Yuri asked Y/N.

“She did. But since you told me to keep it a secret, i didn’t tell her.”

“Was she mad?” Yuri asked out of worry that her unnie is upset that she didn’t have much time with him.

“I only said that i was gonna do some errands, so probably no.” He answered.

“I’ll just apologize to her later.” Yuri stated.

“What for?” Y/N asked, since she didn’t have any reason to apologize to Chaewon. “Did you do something for her to be mad at you?”

“No. I’m apologizing for taking you away from her of course.” She answered with her laugh followed.

“Wait, why’re you laughing?”  Y/N asked out of confusion.

“I was making a joke oppa. You do know jokes right?”

“I have heard of the term. But jokes aren’t really something i’m familiar with, since jokes only works with people who understands. I could never understand it.”

“Have you ever tried making one?” Yuri asked.

“I did some research on the internet. But i’m not sure about the jokes i found since i didn’t get it.”

“Try me.” Yuri challenged.

“Okay….? Let me think of one. Umm…. ah. Why did the duck cross the road?”

“A duck? I don’t know, Why?”

“Because it thought it was a chicken.” The moment he answered, Yuri started giggling which made him even more confused by her reactions.

“Why did i laugh from this joke…” Yuri couldn’t even believe herself for laughing at that.

“Was it funny? Why?” Y/N asked her.

“It’s a bit too long to explain. You should try and say that joke to the others first, and then i’ll explain.” Y/N agreed to her suggestion as they both fell silent.

So…. if i’m in love with someone, that means i’ll be afraid to lose her? Her losing her life?

Well….. it kinda is, isn’t it?

“Yuri-ah. I have some question in mind for you. Would you be willing to answer?” Y/N spoke up after Chaewon’s words been lingering inside his mind.

“Sure, what is it?” Yuri looked up at him still keeping her pace.

“What does it mean when you imagine that you lost someone you love, and you feel…. as if your heart is gone?”

“Ah~.I’m a bit surprised that you’re asking me this. Is there any reason as to why you’re asking me this?”

“It’s due to the movie i saw with Chaewon earlier. We were tasked to review the movie and she chose that movie because of a suggestion she got from her friend. The movie had the guy protecting the girl, but it almost cost him his life. A few times it happened actually. I found it weird, because he could’ve lost his own. It didn’t make sense to me.” Y/N explained thoroughly.

“I see…. i don’t know how i should pour it into words, but will it work if i speak from experience?” Y/N nodded to her offer as Yuri then started to speak.

“I used to be in love with this boy before while we were in school. He was a nice guy. We didn’t talk a lot throughout the first and the second year.” She paused.

“Keep going.”

“Actually to be more specific, we started talking by a bit near the end of the second year. We were grouped up to do a certain task and we started talking there for the first time. At first it was just talking about tasks, but then it grew to small conversations. Things escalated and… we started becoming friends at the end of it. I didn’t feel anything about him and him too as far as i’m concerned. We were just like regular friends you see everyday.”

“Wait, does that mean… you guys weren’t in love automatically from the start? I thought love was something that’s obtained at first sight or stuff like that.” Yuri shook her head denying Y/N’s statement.

“Love can come from anywhere oppa. Either it grows overtime, or it just… comes as you said earlier. First sight.”

“I see. How does it grow when you guys were already friends?”

“That’s actually what happens most of the cases, oppa. If not half. People tend to fall in love when they’re friends because of their behavior. For example, i’m still gonna talk about my own experience with love actually. So we ended up being classmates in the 3rd year, oppa. Everytime i’m always in trouble, he was always there to help me. He reaches for the stuff i couldn’t reach, he lended me stuff i don’t have, etc. He does this little stuff like asking how i’m doing, whether i’m feeling well or not. He always kept an eye out for me. And by his acts of kindness to me…. i fell for him.”

“I see…. can i conclude that you didn’t fall in love with him instantly, but gradually over time?”

“Yeah… i guess you can say that. But remember, i fell for him because of his constant acts. Him acting nice constantly made me fall for him. I didn’t even notice that i was falling for him until it was too late.”

“Too late as in….”

“Too late as in already fell.”

“How do you feel about him when you knew that you were in love with him? Does anything change? Behavior or something?”

“I started acting clumsy around him because i was nervous. Being around the person you love, it makes your heart beat faster oppa.”

“What else?”

“Hmm…. since you’re a guy, i’m not sure if you’ll be able to relate with me about this. Not that you would even if i was a guy, since you’re emotionless oppa, no offense. But really, from a guy’s perspective, what i think is that usually guys would do everything to protect his girl. At least that’s what i’ve heard a few times.”

Y/N fell silent pondering about what Yuri had just said. After thinking about it for a few seconds, he then said.

“Does that mean i’m in love with you?”
