Chaewon POV
Due to the NewJean’s latest album being finished ADOR held a party for all HYBE members to celebrate. With just the teasers along have set a huge milestone for NewJeans and their album presales have skyrocketed from last time.
NewJeans latest comeback was successful out the gate with this album and ADOR thought it would be a great time to celebrate.
Groups like Seventeen, BTS, Enhypen, TXT, and LE SSERAFIM, have all been invited to this party. Not only that but all the dancers and producers that worked on the album were also invited as well.
As you enter the event, the music blares and the party buzzes with excitement, your heart pounds in your chest. As you looked around you had one goal and that was to see and talk to Y/N.
You and him have been so busy that you guys haven’t seen each other in a while. You missed him quite a bit and couldn’t wait to see him again.
You quickly walked around looking for him. As you make your way through the lively venue, your eyes scan the room, searching for the familiar face you long to see.
And then when you finally spot him, a surge of joy and anticipation rushes through your veins. But little do you know that your emotions are about to take an unexpected turn.
There he was, standing so close to Hanni, their laughter filling the air. Your breath hitches, your smile fading into a mask of confusion and surprise. Your heart sinks, and a wave of jealousy washes over you.
You watch them, unable to tear your eyes away. Y/N and Hanni seem so comfortable together, teasing and joking as if they have an unspoken connection.
You can’t help but feel a pang of longing, wondering why you aren’t the one sharing those lighthearted moments with him.
You try to distract yourself by engaging in conversations with other friends. You laugh and smile, attempting to push aside the nagging feeling of sadness that lingers within you.
But no matter how hard you try, your gaze always finds its way back to Y/N and Hanni. It’s as if an invisible force compels you to keep an eye on them, even though it only intensifies your misery.
As you looked at them, you could see Hanni playfully hitting his arm as he cracked up jokes.
WTF…
You stare at them with disbelief. Since when are they so close??? You knew that he worked on the album with them together, but you didn’t realize how close they were.
In a desperate attempt to distract yourself, you snatched a drink from the nearest table. But as you took a sip, you couldn’t help but notice the party’s paparazzi going crazy with their cameras. And who were they capturing? None other than Hanni and Y/N, arm in arm, grinning like they just won the lottery.
Ugh, talk about a heart-sinking moment. You were so flustered that you ended up dropping your drink, making a loud clatter that could rival a marching band.
Chaewon: “They should just date already and spare me the agony. Screw me, I guess.”
Walking through the crowd, you catch Y/N’s eye. He waves at you, and for a moment, your heart flutters with hope. But as your gazes meet, you can’t help but notice a flicker of guilt in his expression.
It’s as if he knows the effect his closeness with Hanni is having on you. You force yourself to put on a fake smile, not wanting to burden him with your insecurities.
Y/N approaches you, concern etched on his face.
Y/N: “Hey, Chae,” he greets you, his voice filled with genuine care. You muster a small smile, attempting to hide the turmoil inside you.
Chaewon: “Hey…”you reply, your voice sounding weaker than you intended.
Y/N: “Are you okay?” he asks, his eyes searching yours for any signs of distress.
Your heart races, caught off guard by his perceptiveness. You stutter, surprised that he has noticed your inner turmoil.
Chaewon: “Yeah, I’m just a little tired,” you fib, not wanting to burden him with your jealousy and sadness.
Y/N’s brows furrow slightly, sensing that something is amiss. He hesitates for a moment before responding.
Y/N: “Oh, okay,” he says, his voice filled with uncertainty.
Your mind races, debating whether you should open up to Y/N and share your true feelings. After all, he has always been there to bring a smile to your face. But before you can gather the courage to speak your truth, Hanni appears, interrupting your conversation.
Hanni: “Oh, there you are,” Hanni says, her voice slicing through the tension. Y/N’s head snaps back, his attention instantly diverted. “I was looking for you,” she continues, oblivious to your internal struggle.
A mixture of frustration and disappointment washes over you once again. It’s like Hanni has a magical spell that makes Y/N forget about everything else.
You couldn’t help but roll your eyes, wondering how she manages to conveniently insert herself into every situation.
You try your best to suppress the bubbling frustration within you. Seriously, why does Y/N get so distracted by Hanni? It’s like she’s a shiny object that he can’t resist.
“Man… I Just Want to yell at him...”
You contemplate storming over there and demanding his attention, but you know that wouldn’t end well. So, you decide to take a different approach.
Y/N’s eyes briefly meet yours, and you can’t help but shoot him a playful glare.
Chaewon: “Oh, look who decided to remember my existence… I was starting to think I was invisible or something.” you muttered out quietly.
Y/N: “Did you say something?” he asked. You just laughed it off.
Chaewon: “No it’s nothing,” you say, not trying to start a problem. “I think I’m going to talk to some other people, I’ll see you around,” you said, trying to leave.
As you leave, you can feel your heartbreak. You didn’t know why, but when you saw Y/N giving Hanni all of his attention… It hurt you…
As you walked around, the frustration still lingering in your mind, you couldn’t bear to stay at the party any longer. The laughter and merriment that once filled the air now felt suffocating, a constant reminder of your own feelings of being overlooked.
Lost in your thoughts, you didn’t even notice when Y/N caught up to you. He gently touched your arm, causing you to startle and look up at him. Concern etched across his face, he asked.
Y/N: “Hey, what’s wrong? You’ve been quiet all night.” You hesitated, unsure of how to respond. You didn’t want to burden him with your frustrations about Hanni.
It wasn’t his fault, after all. But the words caught in your throat, and instead, you simply shook your head, unable to find the right words to express your emotions.
Y/N’s caring nature shone through as he reached out to hold your hand, his touch comforting and warm.
Y/N: “It’s okay,” he reassured you softly. “You don’t have to tell me if you’re not ready. Just know that I’m here for you, no matter what. Whenever you’re feeling down, I’ll be right by your side.”
His words melted away your frustrations, replacing them with a sense of happiness and gratitude. The weight on your shoulders felt lighter as you realized that you weren’t alone.
With a smile, you nodded, silently conveying your appreciation for his understanding. Together, you walked side by side, the night sky filled with twinkling stars above you. The air was cool, but Y/N’s presence brought warmth to your heart.
As you reached your dorm, Y/N didn’t rush to leave. Instead, he leaned against the wall, his eyes locked on yours.
Y/N: “Take care of yourself, okay?” he said sincerely. “And remember, I’m just a phone call away if you ever need someone to talk to or just to be there with you.” You nodded again, overwhelmed by the genuine care and concern he showed.
He might be a dummy… But he was kind…
Chaewon: “Thank you,” you whispered, your voice filled with genuine gratitude. Y/N’s presence had a way of making you feel safe and cherished, and in that moment, you knew that you were lucky to have him in your life.
With a final wave, Y/N bid you goodnight, his footsteps fading away as he walked back into the night. You closed the door behind you, feeling a sense of contentment wash over you. The frustrations of the evening were still there, but you felt a lot better.
You came to realize that the frustration was because you were jealous of Hanni. She was so close with Y/N that it bugged you.
You won’t lose to Hanni. It was clear to you that Hanni liked Y/N. By the way, she looked at her, it was obvious. But you won’t lose him. After all, you liked him too…
