“are you excited?” wooyoung asks san who is looking out the window at the sun which is starting to set.
“i dont know i never interact with people, especially my age.“ actually san was really shy. he would never be the one to start a friendly conversation. he as well always looked very intimidating, other wouldn’t try and talk to him either. san was fine with it but meeting wooyoungs friends got him really nervous. being known for having a bad reputation can already make a bad impression. he was unsure if they would like him.
“don’t worry. yeosang is just like me kinda and seonghwa is the mom.” wooyoung laughed which got san calm down a little.
finally they got at their destination. getting off the bus they can already hear screams, laughter and loud music playing. the colorful neon light were already there but as soon as the sun fully set that will be the only source of light.
“I’ve never been at a carnival.” san confessed, looking at the big place while holding wooyoungs hand since he didn’t want to get lost. the carnival was big, all different kinds of heights and sizes of roller coasters and what made it even more special it was right beside the water.
“what really?” wooyoung dramatically gasped looking at san who is just standing there like a little puppy waiting for its owner to take him somewhere.
right on time wooyoung hears his name behind him, seonghwa and yeosang showed up greeting him. san already felt nervous when seonghwa glanced at him for a quick second.
“wow this is the first time we meet san.” yeosang said holding out his hand. “i’m yeosang.” the small boy introduced himself, flashing his smile which san actually found adorably cute.
looking at seonghwa after san introduced himself to yeosang too, he could sense that this was as awkward to seonghwa as it was to san.
“uh I’m seonghwa.” he said shyly looking at the ground. san couldn’t lie seonghwa was one of the prettiest people he has ever seen. letting out a little ‘hi’ as well the conversation was taken over by the two loud ones beside them.
“okay we should definitely go on the fast rides now, then eat and then we play the games and go on the ferris wheel.” there was absolutely no way wooyoung and yeosang would accept any other suggestion.
the night went by fast they rode a lot of rides already of course wooyoungs favorite bumper cars, eating tons of candy already making their stomachs ache. before things could get worse they decided to eat and of course it would be wooyoung and yeosangs choice. pulling san and seonghwa to the chicken stand.
“guwys its too gwud.” wooyoung with his mouth full of food which the others laughed to.
“woo, eat and then talk.” san wipes the sauce around the youngers mouth off. yeosang noticed wooyoung blushing and his shy smile. he has never seen him this way.
“are you guys back together?” he asked getting the attention of both boys with their eyes wide open.
wooyoung just shook his head no still chewing the chicken in his mouth.
“aw why not? you guys look cute.” yeosang pouted while san and wooyoung didn’t know what to answer.
“uhm well…” san was clearly not comfortable with the question but luckily someone noticed.
“san you go to the same school right?” seonghwa changed the topic thankfully since the five seconds of silence were enough to make things really awkward.
“oh yeah.”
“i’ve never seen you around tho.”
“i wasn’t in a good state so i took a break.” san scratched the back of his neck. he knew damn well why he didnt attend and so does seonghwa.
after eating the sun has fully set, only leaving the remaining red-ish tones in the sky. “should we ride the ferris wheel now?its nice since the sky is still pretty now.” the rest of the boys agreed. paying for the tickets they noticed that the capsules are made for two people only.
“woo, do you wanna ride it with yeosang?” san asked. it would always be the both of them doing things together, san just wanted him to be able to spend time with his friends too. but yeosang strongly disagreed.
“i- what the fuck no.”
“yea no I would probably throw you off.” wooyoung said back to yeosang.
san who clearly never witnessed the dynamic / chaotic duo felt a hand on his shoulder. looking at it he sees seonghwa looking at him. “believe me it gets worse than this.”
on the ride all of them were fascinated by the view. seeing the carnival right beside the water, hearing all kinds of laughter and screaming just the same when they first entered the carnival. and the neon lights are reflecting on the water where people even jumped in, taking a fun swim.
“you remember when we almost died climbing up that abandoned ferris wheel?” san asked the boy who has his head resting on his shoulder and looking at the crazy view.
wooyoung nodded his head, letting a small smile grow on his face thinking about the moment they spent up there and the moment they’re spending now. there is nowhere else wooyoung feels like this – home. there was no one else who could make wooyoung feel like this. it wasn’t about what they’re talking about or if they were going on a date. just being with each other, side by side and letting their love talk for themselves.
wooyoung turns his head to face him. his eyes meet san’s and after a long time he finally saw the shining stars again. more than last night, more than the ones shining now in the sky. once again wooyoung just feels himself falling more and more. san puts his hand on the others cheek, running over his cheekbones, smiling for himself.
“can i kiss you?”
san was taken by surprise but he can’t resist him. they were longing for each other, as much as wooyoung wanted it so did san.
“i’m sorry i know you want to wait but-“ before he could even finish his sentence san already laid his lips on wooyoungs. their soft lips going by the same rhythm, san pulls him closer tilting his head. time felt like it stopped and the noises around them seemed like they were mute. only the two of them, sharing that one passionate kiss and neither of them wanted to let go.
–
“lets go on that one again.” yeosang suggested pointing on the roller coater they rode before.
“I think I’ll pass.” seonghwa said, already tired leaving yeosang pouting again.
“then I’ll wait with seonghwa.” san said, going with the oldest walking towards the water sitting down.
“do you think those people are freezing?” seonghwa asked while watching the people swinging in the deep water.
“no they’re fine.” san seems so relaxed and the other really liked that unlike wooyoung and yeosang always being loud.
“are you planning on coming back together with wooyoung?” seonghwa asked. san took a deep breath. tho he just met seonghwa he felt like he was able to tell him without getting judged.
“I don’t know. its just i don’t think we’re fully recovered from the past.” he said having his head hanging low. seonghwa was the first person to hear this.
“i understand what you mean.”
san looked at him who is looking out at the ocean.
“you do?”
“before i moved here i was in a relationship but they have a lot of issues and they’re also going to therapy.” seonghwa told his story and finally after such a long time san feels like there was someone that he could relate to.
“what happened?” san didnt know if he pushed it too far by asking.
“it didn’t work out. i told them that we should try again when the times right.”
“that’s how i feel right now.” san confessed, he felt his eyes water. san loves wooyoung but they went thru so much and he can even process what happened a few months back. sometimes he feels like time keeps stopping and then it runs.
“he was ready to move in with me, not even going to collage and i haven’t even gotten over my bad habits yet. i keep telling him to wait but i feel like i keep lying to him.”
for a minute none talked. san needed to breathe and seonghwa let him, he let him take his time.
“what should I do? i feel like i’m running circles.”
