Note: Ty for the request @Justaclowninasuit! I’m writing this as fast as I can but with other requests I’ve got to do first, so apologies if I end up posting this in a bit from now (some oct smth i forget) ’cause I’ve got a lot of requests atm TvT”

Kyojuro gasped, holding his arm to his stomach. He breathed deeply, trying to control his breathing. Somehow, he’d managed to deflect the blow so the wound wasn’t as deep nor was it completely fatal. There was some 10% chance to live but if he had a 10% chance he would take it—he needed to continue his job as a Hashira and he knew that losing a Hashira would be a bad blow on the demon slayer corps, especially since an Uppermoon had decided to show himself.

Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitsu came to his side, trying to help him in someway. Someone wrapped bandages around his middle but that was the last Kyojuro comprehended because he blacked out, slumping against the nearest person.

~~~
Kyojuro woke up to the pain of someone gripping his hand tightly. His eyes opened and he moved his hand away weakly.
“Huh?” he mumbled, dazed.
“Kyojuro!! He’s awake!” Tengen’s voice shouted, making Kyojuro’s head throb.
“Not so loud,” the Flame Hashira whined.
“Right, sorry,” he said, lowering his voice.
Someone walked inside and Kyojuro had to blink several times until his eyes focused. Shinobu was there, lifting her hand to his forehead.
“He still has a fever,” she said, sighing. “Should go away soon, but he must not leave his bed unless it’s to the bathroom because his wound is pretty bad. In fact, it would’ve been fatal if it weren’t for the fact that he’s a Hashira.”
“Oh,” was all Kyojuro could say.
Tengen sat onto the edge of the cot and nodded. “Alright. We’ll make sure he stays here.”
We’ll?
Kyojuro lifted his head and surveyed the room wearily. Tengen’s wives were surrounding his bed—he hadn’t noticed them before because he’d been looking up.
“How are the others?” he murmured.
“The others? Oh, you mean the Kamado’s, Agatsuma, and Hashibira?” Shinobu asked. “Healing, mostly. Tanjiro hasn’t woken up yet, Agatsuma is mostly alright, and.. Hashibira is fine.”
Kyojuro nodded. “Alright, that’s good. I’m glad.”
Tengen smacked Kyojuro’s arm lightly. “Stop worrying about others when clearly you’re in pain!” he said.
Shinobu sighed and shot Tengen an annoyed look. “What do you suppose he do? Wallow in self-pity? At least he’s in the right mind to think about others at all! Anyways, what would you do?” she pointed out.
Tengen crossed his arms and ignored her. Kyojuro chuckled and closed his eyes.
“Okay, you rest, I’ll let you have some quiet now,” Shinobu murmured, leaving the room.
~~~

Kyojuro awoke once more, feeling a whole lot better than the first time. He sat up, ignoring the way blood rushed into his head at the sudden movement, and saw Hinatsuru sitting on a chair next to his bed.

“Hello!” he said cheerfully, though his voice was raspy and his throat dry.

She smiled at him. “Good morning—or rather, afternoon. Are you thirsty, or hungry? Tengen and the other two are off on a mission but they wanted someone to stay here with you. How do you feel?”

“Better. How long has it been?” Kyojuro asked.

“Since you last woke up? A day. You fever has luckily gone down most ways. But Shinobu-San says you must not leave the bed until you’re fully healed.” She pointed at his stomach. “That’s still healing. So be careful, alright? We don’t want you to open any wounds.”

Kyojuro nodded obediently. “Alright!”

Hinatsuru smiled. “But do you want to eat?”

“Yes, I’m very hungry,” he said. “And thirsty!”

She laughed. “Right, I’ll get you some food and water.”

Hinatsuru left and Kyojuro looked around. There was a couple cards on the table next to his bed. He picked up the closest one. It had a bunch of drawings of flowers and it said, “Get better soon!” in Suma’s handwriting.

He smiled. He looked at the next one which was rather.. messy. From Inosuke, most likely, because of the drawings of what appeared to be boars. It showed a picture of some sort of animal-human with hair like Kyojuro’s surrounded by boars which seemed to be doing some ritual..? They were shoving bottles of something that looked like the medicine Shinobu often had them take into the Kyojuro-boar’s face.

He raised his eyebrows but decided it was a very Inosuke thing to draw. Next was a neater one, something simple but rather artistic from Zenitsu. And then one from Tanjiro which was surprisingly horribly drawn—not that he didn’t appreciate it but it was… interesting. Followed by those two were two seperate cards, one from Hinatsuru and one from Makio.

Then the last card was from Tengen which was, of course, beautiful made. It was a small sketch of Kyojuro’s house with Senjuro standing there telling him to get better. Under the drawing was a little note that said that Senjuro had wanted to visit him but that Shinjuro hadn’t allowed it, so Tengen had decided to draw Senjuro and give it to Kyojuro.

Hinatsuru walked back in and saw him looking at the cards. “You found them?” she asked, placing the tray of food she’d brought on his lap.

He nodded. “Yes, I love them! And thank you for the food,” he said, smiling and picking up his chopsticks.

“Of course.”

The two conversed for a while—Kyojuro constantly interupting with his trademark “UMAI!”‘s—until the sun was setting and Hinatsuru said he must rest his body.

(we’ll pretend he went to the bathroom ;-; but nobody wants to read that so)

Kyojuro slept for a little and woke up some time in the middle of the night. He didn’t know why he woke up at first until he turned and saw Tengen and Makio and Suma walking in.

His eyes brightened and he smiled. “Hello!” he said happily.

“Sorry, we woke you up, no?” Tengen apologized.

“It’s okay!”

Suma bounded over and hugged him tightly—a bit too tight and Kyojuro pressed his lips together to supress a groan.

Makio slapped Suma. “Don’t do that! That’s where he got hurt!” she snapped.

“Oh- Sorry! I’m sorry!” Suma fretted, backing away.

“It’s alright,” Kyojuro said, sighing.

Tengen walked over and kissed Kyojuro’s forehead. “You alright?”

“Yes, I’m much better than I was yesterday,” Kyojuro said, smiling.

“I’m glad.”

Makio moved to stand next to Kyojuro’s bed and said, “We were worried. You almost died.”

Kyojuro shrugged, as if it was a light subject—though they all knew it wasn’t. “I’m a Hashira. It would only be logical if I died protecting the others from an Uppermoon.”

Tengen grasped Kyojuro’s hand and said, his voice quiet, “Even so, we all still want and need you here. You should be more careful, Kyojuro.”

“If I was careful, the others wouldn’t be alive,” he said, smiling sadly at Tengen.

The Sound Hashira hummed, patting Kyojuro. “Well, I’m glad you’re still here now.”

Suma went back over to them, though she didn’t hug Kyojuro this time, and said, excitedly, “And now we can give you lots of love!”

“For once, I agree with Suma,” Makio said, kissing Kyojuro’s cheek.

Tengen grinned. “Yeah!”

Kyojuro laughed and leaned against Tengen. “I love you all. You’re very sweet.”

“Only for you,” Hinatsuru said, smiling.

“For our Kyojuro,” Tengen decided. His wives agreed and Kyojuro’s cheeks warmed with gratitude and love. (that sounds cringy help)

“Thank you,” Kyojuro murmured, bringing Tengen’s hand to his mouth and kissing it.

Tengen smiled. “Anything for you, right?”

The women went through a collective agreement and surrounded Kyojuro happily. The four Uzui’s spent a long time complimenting Kyojuro, making him dazed in happiness. He fell asleep to their words, eventually, and the four made themselves comfortable in some chairs that had been supplied to them earlier.

“He’s so cute,” Tengen commented, smiling at Kyojuro’s peaceful form.

Hinatsuru nodded. “He definitely is better than before. Remember how pale he’d been?”

Suma hung her head. “I though he really was going to die when I saw him then,” she whined.

“Well, he’s better now,” Hinatsuru said, comforting her.

“Yeah!”

“Shh,” Makio shushed, glaring at Suma. “He’s asleep.”

“Sorry!” Suma whispered.

Tengen chuckled quietly to himself. “If you guys keep talking he will wake up.”

All three of them shut up then making Tengen almost laugh again—though he quickly got ahold of himself.

That morning, Kyojuro woke up, well rested and chipper.

Shinobu, curious, said, “What’s got you in such a good mood today?”

“Aren’t I always?” Kyojuro asked.

“Well, you seem even more today.” She shrugged. “It’s nothing, really just curious.”

Kyojuro smiled to himself. “Hm.. I had a good night. That’s all!”

“Alright,” Shinobu decided. “That’s good.”
