Giyuu was all smiles and laughter, stumbling in the sand as he ran towards the ocean. The sight of him like this made Obanai almost tip over, catching Giyuu’s giddiness. He laid out the towel, placing his bag on top before slipping out of his shirt and following Giyuu into the water. He hissed as the chill of it hit him, frowning as the water lapped up to his ankles. Giyuu didn’t give him much time to acclimate to the mild discomfort, pulling him into a hug and dragging him further into the ocean.
“It’s cold, Giyuu!” Obanai whined, trying to yank away from his boyfriend.
“Who cares? Aren’t you the one sitting outside all night every day?” Giyuu pointed out, flashing him a grin. “Just relax, that’s the whole point of this.”
Obanai sighed, squirming out of the embrace. They had finally finished weeks of tedious studying and exams and, as a sort of celebration and encouragement to not stress anymore, Giyuu had suggested they went to the beach, just the two of them. Obanai didn’t generally prefer sunny places, but Giyuu’s enthusiasm had been easy to catch—especially what with Giyuu rarely being the hyped one—so he had agreed.
“Can I relax in the sun, then?” Obanai asked hopefully.
“Obanaiii,” Giyuu pouted, crossing his arms. “That’s not fun.”
“You’re so childish,” Obanai huffed, pivoting to go back to the towel before losing his balance and falling backwards, arms shooting out and waving uselessly. He yelped as he collided into Giyuu, causing them both to collapse into the shallow water. “Fuck!” he gasped, running a hand over his face to try and rid it of the water that had splashed onto him.
Giyuu, on the other hand, was giggling uncontrollably, unbothered by this. “It looks like you want to stay in here,” he remarked, only for Obanai to push him back underwater.
“Shut up,” Obanai snapped, though a smile threatened to curve his lips.
Giyuu resurfaced, coughing and moving away from Obanai in case he was dunked back in. “Fine, you can go back. But I’m gonna swim,” he told him, standing and running a hand through his sopping hair.
Obanai stared up at him, taking the hand Giyuu offered as he stood. “No, I’ll… I’ll go with you,” he said, blinking quickly and forcing himself to look away.
A smirk drew Giyuu’s lips up and he leaned closer. “Why?” he asked, his voice annoyingly teasing.
“Because you suck at swimming and I don’t want a dead boyfriend!” Obanai said, pushing Giyuu away.
“Suureee,” Giyuu hummed, turning to make his way further into the water. “I’m just gonna float around or whatever.”
“Then I’ll use you as a floating device,” Obanai replied, hurrying to catch up.
