Gon sat across from some detective looking guy. There were several people outside of the room, watching through a glass window. Am I in trouble? He thought, with a hint of confusion. Gon understood that Killua might be in trouble, but he hadn’t done anything wrong. Well- I did cause some property damage I guess. He remembered, with a wince. The detective gave him a friendly smile. “Hey kid, this’ll be easy alright? Just answer my questions as honestly as you can.” Gon nodded. “Right.” The man fished out a stack of papers, skimming through them for a moment before speaking.

“Do you know why you’re here?”

Gon rubbed the back of his head, feeling a bit bad. “The property damage? I really am sorry. I can cover the cost…I think? How much would that be Mr. detective?” Gon thought aloud. The detective blinked, then shook his head. “No. you’re here because of the situation with Killua. Also, you can call me detective Tsukauchi.” Gon frowned. Do they still think he’s a bad guy?  Gon leaned forward in his seat. “It was an accident.” Tsukauchi nodded thoughtfully. “Alright. And, Eraserhead said you mentioned something about…a war?” He said slowly.

Huh? Did I?

Gon didn’t remember that, but he had a bad habit of rambling on about random adventures he had to anyone who would listen. “Oh yeah, the Chimera Ant War.” He said. “We had to kill a bunch of humanoid ants to keep them from taking over.” Gon explained. “It’s a long story and I don’t want to get into it though, bad memories.” He tried his hardest not to think of the war, and all the people who’d been lost during it. Tsukauchi nodded once more, flipping through the papers in his hands. “Alright. Now, have either you or Killua been involved in criminal activity?” Damn, what do I say to that? Gon thought for a moment, trying to think through his approach on this. He didn’t want to lie, but he didn’t want them to arrest Killua.

“Well, yeah.”

Gon admitted. “Killua had a pretty bad childhood, he did some bad things growing up. But he’s not like that anymore, I promise.” Tsukauchi’s eyebrows raised, and he let out a sigh. “Can you be more specific?” Gon gulped. Killua didn’t like it when he told his personal business to other people. But do I really have a choice? “Hm..” Gon shifted a bit in his chair. “We can’t move on to the next stage of questioning until you tell me, kid.” Tsukauchi said quietly, in a firm tone. Damn it. He had no choice.

“Killua’s family are contract killers. It’s a family business thing. But Killua completely rejects his family, and that way of life.”

Gon looked Tsukauchi right in the eyes. “I’ve seen him improve, make better choices, get over some of the unhealthy practices beaten into him as a kid. He’s not a bad person. Not anymore.” Gon insisted. Tsukauchi was quiet for a moment, his expression unreadable. Gon sat at the questioning table anxiously, hoping his words didn’t make it worse. “Do you have any ideas as to Killua’s motivations behind being a hero?” A hero? Gon had been briefed on what exactly heroes were, and what they did. But he didn’t think Killua would really be interested in that kind of thing. Unless…

“Well, it could be two things. Or maybe both.”

Gon said, scratching his head a little. “He could’ve just been bored, and thought it was exciting. Or he could’ve seen it as a way to make up for his past. Or maybe he was doing it to try to find me?” Gon mused, then blinked “Wait that’s three things-” The detective nodded once more. “Alright. Now, just as a precaution I’m going to ask you three more questions to make sure you don’t have nefarious intentions.” Gon smiled. “Sounds great!” I’m so glad this is almost over with. Gon whined internally, he wanted to go see Killua right away.

“Have you ever killed anyone?”

Gon opened his mouth to answer, then hesitated. The hesitation made the detective frown. “Well- depends on what you mean by ‘anyone’.” Does Pitou count? Or any of the other ants? He decided to elaborate on that. “If you mean humans, then no.” Tsukauchi asked another question. “This one is more of a follow up to the last question. Who would you consider a person, but not human?” Gon hummed. “Well, some magical beasts are sentient and are intelligent like people are. Although a lot of them are dangerous, and some of them eat people. I’ve killed a few of them before but never any humans.”

“Alright, moving on.”

Tsukauchi said, clearing his throat. “Are you a part of any illegal organizations, villain groups, or involved in any sort of criminal activity?” Gon shook his head. “Nope.” Tsukauchi nodded once more. Before asking his final question. “Do you plan on or have thoughts of seriously harming or killing anyone in the future?” Gon squinted a little. “I kind of want to punch Killua’s older brother in the face, but other than that no.” The detective gave Gon a smile. “Alright, that concludes the interrogation. Thank you for your cooperation. Young man.” Gon stood up, placing a hand on the table.

“What about Killua though? I want to see him.”

Tsukauchi let out a soft sigh. “I’m afraid he’s going to be receiving some punishment for his actions, and is to be held for a week. It was originally going to be several months, but due to your cooperation we’ve managed to shorten the time.” Gon felt mixed emotions. He was happy he was able to help Killua, but also frustrated he wouldn’t get to see him for another week. Gon groaned. “Can I at least see him once before he has to be contained or whatever? I haven’t seen him in over a year!” Tsukauchi thought for a moment, then glanced behind him at the adults standing behind the glass.

Gon noticed that one of them was the big buff dude from the school, and another was the guy with the scarf. The group glanced at each other, then the big buff dude gave Tsukauchi a nod. The detective turned back towards him with a smile. “You may visit him, although remember that everything you say is going to be monitored.” Gon beamed. “Thanks so much Mr. detective!” Gon said, hurrying out of the room. He thought he heard the detective mumble something as he left, but Gon paid no mind. He was going to see Killua! His best friend.

I can’t wait to go on adventures with him again!
