A Certain Someone ( The On1y One ) Chapter 112.5 – Extra

A+ A-

It’s the rainy season as of late, the sky was an ashy grey, everywhere was wet and damp. The people here seemed to dislike using an umbrella especially, they always wore hooded shirts with cowboy jeans, and hurried through the puddles of rainfall.

Today may be a rare rest day where there’s nothing to do, but Sheng Wang was too lazy to leave the house. He initially wanted to cuddle his Ge and experience a day of “rejecting morning assembly” like an incapable lord, but was unfortunately summoned out of bed by a video call.

“This has to be a disturbance of the citizens, I’m suing you after I’m back from my holiday.” After Sheng Wang washed up, he sat down on the living room floor with his legs crossed and yawned. His laptop was placed on the coffee table, and on its screen, wasa close up of Gao Tianyang — this idiot’s — giant face.

“Sorry, forgot the two of you aren’t in the same old place, there’s an additional three hours time difference between us now.” Gao Tianyang put his palms together on the screen, “Feel free to sue me when you’re back, I promise I won’t activate Lawyer Li first.”
“Screw off, Chili wouldn’t be aiding evil.”
Gao Tianyang laughed mischievously, a smugness that was asking for a beating.

“Where’s my Tian-ge?”
Sheng Wang was too low on the ground and his line of sight was blocked by the bar counter. He couldn’t spot him after looking left and right. “He’s probably still washing his face.”
Just after he spoke, he heard the sound of sizzling coming from the kitchen, and added, “He’s heating up the pot already.”
Gao Tianyang hadn’t realised what was going on. “He’s washing his face with the pot?”
“……” Sheng Wang asked in exasperation, “Did you drink tonight?”
“Eh, I did drink quite a bit, for reals.”

It was approximately night back in the country, and it was late night too. Gao Tianyang was perfectly lively instead. He was practically glowing, a stark contrast to young master Sheng — not only were the young master’s eyes dazed and his voice nasally, there were still a few tufts of hair that stuck out from his head from sleeping just now. Those two tufts of hair were plenty stubborn, and no matter how he brushed it, they still stuck out.
The good thing was that he didn’t need to go out and meet visitors, and neither did a friend like Gao Tianyang count as a person. So after the hair remained stubbornly sticking out despite the young master running his hand through it a few times, he gave up and decided to let it be.

“Alright let’s cut to the chase. When are you and Tian-ge’s holidays?” Gao Tianyang asked.
“You mean a normal holiday or long break?”
“The longer the better.”
“Let me see, there’s barely a few months left in this year too.” Sheng Wang flipped through the calendar. “July, there’s fewer things going on in July, and he happens to have a break too—”
Just as he spoke, he felt someone picking at the tufts of hair sticking out on his head. A look behind him, and it revealed that Jiang Tian had come over at some point in time, with two cups of oat milk in his hands.

“Tian-ge,” Gao Tianyang called out.
Jiang Tian greeted him, and passed a cup of milk to Sheng Wang.
“What a rare sight, Sheng-ge’s actually drinking something warm?” Gao Tianyang saw the steam from the rim, and joked, “Where’s your standard ice water?”
“I’m banned from it,” Sheng Wang said.
“That’s under his purview too?”
Jiang Tian sat down on the couch behind Sheng Wang with the other cup of milk in his hand, his lengthy bent legs coincidentally becoming a backrest for a certain person. His elbows rested on his knees as he said to Gao Tianyang, “Ask him about how long has it been since he recovered from stomach aches.”
“Stomach ache?” Gao Tianyang immediately took out all sorts of articles that Chili used to scare him with. “Then you really gotta be careful, if it’s the recurring type, it’s better if you go to the hospital for a check up. Why the sudden stomach pain?”
Sheng Wang laughed awkwardly, and pointed behind him with his thumb. “His fault.”
Gao Tianyang: “Huh?”
“He somehow acquired a bag of bread crust, and pan fried an entire pot of spring rolls with that that day.”
“And then?”
Gao Tianyang wanted to say “So you got food poisoning?”, but due to his Tian-ge’s stare, he swallowed back the words that were already in his mouth. It was also fortunate that he didn’t say it, because what closely followed up was Sheng Wang saying, “He performed above his usual standard and it tasted kinda good, so I have to show him some face and support him, right?”
“So?”
“He got a stomach ache from overeating,” Jiang Tian pressed a certain person’s thumb back down, and concluded.
The young master touched his stomach, still shaken.
Gao Tianyang: “……”
He thought to himself, I swear I have a girlfriend, how the hell am I still eating dog food?

Thankfully, the two showed mercy, and did not stuff him with so much dog food that he would burst. Sheng Wang obediently drank a mouthful of hot milk, and went back on track. “We have a break in July, any later would be that period of time during Christmas and New Year.”
“You’re coming over?” Jiang Tian asked.
Gao Tianyang said, “Yup, I’m gonna look for you guys.”
“A vacation?”
“Nope,” Gao Tianyang waved, “Honeymoon.”
“Go find Chili if you want a honeymoon, why are you looking for us?” Sheng Wang was full of questions.
Jiang Tian was even more confused. “You want to get married? You’re not even saying that you want to get married first?”
“Am I not saying it right now? I didn’t know I’m going to get married if it’s earlier too,” Gao Tianyang scratched the back of his head, and said with a dumb smile, “I just proposed today.”
Jiang Tian: “……”

Some giant dumbasses are honestly admirable, already planning the honeymoon right after proposing.
“How did you propose?” Sheng Wang asked.
Gao Tianyang narrated his absolute cracky course of events and the misunderstanding caused by all his fumbling in excitement. Sheng Wang’s face went numb from all of that.
Jiang Tian had always been good with his words. The moment he opened his mouth, he asked, “And Chili seriously said yes?”
Gao Tianyang said, “Maybe my crying was too pathetic or something, she couldn’t bear to say no.”
He pondered for two seconds, and added on with much self awareness, “Maybe it’s also that she wants to hurry up and bring me back already, so we wouldn’t embarrass ourselves.”
Sheng Wang imagined that scene, and laughed until he nearly slumped onto the floor. Jiang Tian stopped him with his leg.

He took a sip of milk to slowly get over it. “I was just wondering why you look so radiant today. Then what do you two plan to do later?”
“We want to get our marriage cert on September 1st.”
“September 1st.”
“The day school opens,” Gao Tianyang said.
Sheng Wang thought about the significance of this day, and felt a slight sense of gratification — thank god, this idiot’s romantic cells haven’t completely died out yet.

“Chili doesn’t want to be too traditional, so I thought we should come out for a vacation after we get our marriage cert, relax and all,” GY said. “Isn’t Small Mouth in Canada already? I don’t know if he will be busy in the later half of the year, I’ll go ask him later.”
Small Mouth Xu was the exact opposite in nature from his father. He’s more quiet, he loves plants. So he picked a field related to forestry, and quietly threw himself into Mother Nature.

Jiang Tian said, “We met him a while ago.”
“How did it go?”
Sheng Wang said, “He was on duty in a helicopter that day, talking on the walkie-talkie on his shoulder. He even had a gun because he was worried that he would run into a bear. He’s pretty cool and all, but he’s injured too. His arm got bitten by poisonous insects, and it was nearly shining from the swelling.”
Gao Tianyang: “……Then I should really pay him a visit.”
“You can forget about it,” Sheng Wang said, both amused and distressed, “Don’t agitate single bros while you’re on your honeymoon, okay?”
“Small Mouth is such a quiet person,” Gao Tianyang disagreed, “He definitely wouldn’t be provoked.”
“He would,” Sheng Wang said.
“How did you know?”
“Experience,” Jiang Tian said out of the blue.
Gao Tianyang: “???”
Sheng Wang said, deeply anguished, “The two of us were chased back by him.”
“……” Gao Tianyang thought, and said, “I’m honestly not surprised by that.”

Gao Tianyang and Little Chili really did get their marriage certificate on September 1st this year, commemorating the day they met each other in the campus of Fuzhong, the day they met each other in their youth. The honeymoon was set to begin on the later third of December. Of course, Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian did not head over early to be their third wheels, merely helping them arrange their itinerary and book hotels.
Only in the last two days of the honeymoon did Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian pack their luggage and head to Venice to meet them, as well as sending them off.

The lodging for those two days was booked in advance by Jiang Tian, it was a homely place with a nice ambience. The landlord spoke with heavily accented English, telling them how to cross over the bridge to the island, which ticket they should be purchasing for the most convenience, and even gifted Gao Tianyang and Little Chili a newlywed present.
The island wasn’t particularly big, walking around didn’t take up too much time. The flowing stream of water meandered through the gorgeous rows of houses, and exquisite arch bridges were between rows after rows.

In the evening, Chili was looking at handbags in a shop located in the corner, hunting for souvenirs to bring back to Little Carp. Gao Tianyang accompanied her. Young master Sheng waited by the bridge with his hands in his pockets for a bit, and while his Ge wasn’t looking, he snuck to the artisan gelato shop nearby to buy a few scoops of gelato. As he paid for the goods, he was caught redhanded by Jiang Tian.

“Who’s the one who sneezed thrice in a row yesterday?” Jiang Tian asked with furrowed brows.
As the young master protected his gelato scoops, he pushed him out of the shop, all the way to a corner of the wall that was against the wind. He ate a scoop of gelato first, and then tilted his head to bring his Ge a kiss that was cold and sweet.
“Okay, now that you’ve eaten it too, you do not have the grounds to reprimand me,” Sheng Wang brazenly shrugged, and before Jiang Tian could catch him, he turned and ducked inside a gift shop next to him.
Jiang Tian touched the remaining scent of ice cream by the corner of his lips, and followed inside too.

This shop wasn’t huge; fancy textiles and carpets were hung all over the place. There were tiny trinkets made out of bronze and glass on the shelves — quills, crystal balls and stuff. The stained glass window had an elaborate pattern with heavy colours, to the point that the lighting was rather dim in the shop. With the fragrance in the air, the shop appeared to have a mystical aura; it even seemed pretty legit.
An old lady crouched behind the desk, colourful strings braided in her fluffy long hair. She wore a giant shawl, and her head was lowered, doing her own thing. She didn’t quite pay any attention to customers.

Sheng Wang plucked at the wind chime hanging by the shelf. Just as he was about to exit, Gao Tianyang came in with a few giant paper bags in hand. Chili basically had zero resistance to these intricate looking items, and went quite a few rounds in the shop. She was jumping at the chance of buying that quill pen gift set.
“You want it?” Gao Tianyang asked.
“Nah, it’s for Carp,” Chili said, “What do you think? Is it pretty?”
Jiang Tian took giving suggestions very seriously. “Why does she need a quill to write?”
Chili: “……”
“How about this?” She pointed at another feather accessory, “It also looks quite pretty, it can even be a necklace.”
Gao Tianyang said in confusion, “Is putting bird feathers on the body supposed to look good?”
Chili: “……”

In the three co-shoppers, one had a shitty sense of aesthetic, the other two were pragmatic. Entering a gift shop with this sort of style was a mistake. The “only idiots will buy things like this” were written loud and clear on their faces. Chili rolled her eyes, and no longer bothered with them. She picked a few things according to her taste, paid, and left.
No matter what happened, this trip did not go to waste. When they did a count of their items by placing all things on the table, they then discovered that they had honestly bought a lot, and a lot of things. However, within this, there was still something they had never seen before.

Chili had sharp eyes, and took out two accessories from the corner. She said in confusion, “Eh? Who bought these two?”
“Wasn’t it you?’
“It wasn’t me, I took the sweater necklace, not this.”
Gao Tianyang was stumped. “Huh?”
Jiang Tian glanced at him, and placed the accessories into the pocket of his pants, saying, “I bought it.”
Question marks rose above Gao Tianyang and Little Chili’s heads.
Sheng Wang turned to look at Jiang Tian, and with his extraordinary understanding of his Ge, he somehow saw a trace of embarrassment beneath his Ge’s calm exterior.
He couldn’t hold it in and wanted to laugh, so he asked with a hand on Jiang Tian’s shoulder, “Ge, why did you buy this in secret?”

Why did I buy this?
Because, as they left the shop, Jiang Tian was the last to leave as he was replying to messages on his phone. He suddenly heard the foreign old granny who was minding her own business with her head previously lowered, speak with heavily accented English. “Take this pair of trinkets with you.”

Jiang Tian stilled, and turned to look at her.
Two rather ordinary keychains rested on her wizened and aged fingers. It was the first time she interacted with the customer. The thin and long chain from her spectacles dangled before her, the spectacles slipping beneath her nose. She looked at him through the lenses, her pale blue eyes were on him as she repeated, “Take this pair of trinkets with you, you two will be in love for the rest of forever.”

The three had already left the shop. Jiang Tian looked at the entrance, and saw Sheng Wang’s head turn around; he seemed to be looking for him.
His features softened, and received the keychains on the old person’s hands. He said in a deep voice, “Thank you.”

At that moment, the setting sun shone on the meandering channels in Venice. The stained glass window was rimmed with gold, the feather on the keychain had a radiant outline.
The flow of time was like this blessing; gentle, and everlasting.
