A Western Doctor’s Happy Farming Life[1] 113

A+ A-

It could be seen that Song Qinghan’s eyes were full of indifference, he stared at Zhai Su like he was gazing at a  lifeless corpse, and then he said slowly, “I know you can’t make it, you love yourself the most after all. How is that possible for you to ruin your own life by your own hands?”

“So, the medicine I drugged has no other effect, it will just cause some tiny troubles for you, that’s all.”

He picked up the dagger, straightened up and said to Wu Dahu, “I’ve taken the revenge, come on, let’s check Hualian’s situation out.”

Wu Dahu nodded and looked at Zhai Su who was crying while covering his face. Without any fluctuations in his mind, he followed Song Qinghan away.

After a long while, he finally uncovered his face and exposing his pair of swollen eyes of redness and raised his head to look into the sky helplessly, mumbling to himself, “Did I really do something wrong? I just intended to offer a better life for Dahu and please my husband. Is that really so hard for me?”

In an instant, a bright-white meteor flashed past across the sky and faded away into the outline of a group of building in line. It was nothing in the boundless sky yet it was grand enough to catch someone’s eyes.

Zhai Su’s expression changed all of a sudden and he said angrily, “I KNOW IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT! Why do you still haunt me and harass me around since you died? WHISPER TO ME! It was you messed up everything, right? The tumor, and now Song Qinghan, they are all sent by you to take revenge on me! Is that right??”

“Why did you treat me like this…”

After that, his eyesight blurred and blackened and then he passed out onto the ground with endless coldness as if he could no more make any effort to bear everything.

The two young men kept their silence after they walked out from the mansion. It was not until they had walked for a long while did Song Qinghan take the initiative to speak, he said peacefully, “Do you have a grudge against me? I just treated him like that, he will get nothing serious physically but his mental situation might be affected, more or less.”

Wu Dahu was stunned but then he shook his head without hesitation. “No, you’re just telling a truth. And, you didn’t drug him, did you?”

Song Qinghan chuckled, and then sighed. He looked at his hands, and then said with a low voice, “This pair of hands is made to save people. I will never allow myself to kill someone unless I am forced in a perilous situation.”

“Besides, as long as he believes that I’ve drugged him, I think it’s no difference whether I drugged him or not.”

Recalling the picture that Zhai Su was with a face of fear and fright, Wu Dahu laughed and then nodded, saying, “Indeed, probably he won’t trust you even you go back and tell him you did not get him poisoned.”

Finally, Wu Dahu heaved a sigh with relief as he confirmed that Wu Dahu was quite open-minded toward the matter.

It is not easy to take revenge for himself while considering the blood tie between Wu Dahu and Zhai Su. Moreover, the law would never allow him to do so either.

He was satisfied with such a result now.

Thereafter, the most troublesome problem was to face with that old femina servant who was with bunch of evil thoughts.

The two of them walked along the road tracing the marks, and finally they could see a small village not far away at the spot where the marks vanished.

It would be nothing to worry about if the evil femina servant just made some tricks on the carriage.

But the two of them were shocked when they found that Hualian and the old servant fought against each other not far away, they then hurried to rush over.

It turned out that it was Hualian who made the marks! Hualian had foreseen and found the evil intentions of that old servant, so he went out from the mansion and hid himself into the secret compartment of the carriage’s bottom. As the carriage’s wheels commenced rolling and running, he untied the package which was tied right around his waist and spread the yellow beans on the route. And that offered the chance for Song Qinghan and Wu Dahu to follow.

Though it was quite dangerous and tough for him to hide in the secret compartment of the carriage’s bottom, Hualian was rather decisive and showed all his willingness to save his parents, he didn’t let go while holding tightly at the bottom of the carriage, such an effort scratched his skins in hand but he didn’t give up. And as the carriage stopped and he loosened his hands and got out from the bottom, his hands were blurred with blood and flesh.

By the time Wu Dahu and Song Qinghan arrived, Hualian and the old servant had been fighting each other for a long while. The old servant’s strength was amazingly big yet in the meantime he was eager to escape from Hualian’s harassment. With that eagerness, he had unexpectedly exploded with extraordinary agility. He almost escaped from Hualian’s enclosure several times. If Hualian didn’t devote himself into such a fight with an attitude of perishing together with the old servant, probably the old servant had long gone away.

The old servant caught a glimpse of Wu Dahu and Song Qinghan by his corner sight. With an utter shock, he kicked Hualian on the butt and made Hualian fall on the ground, and after that he fled away hurriedly outwardly.

However, how could Wu Dahu let him escape so easily? Speeding up, he caught the old servant by grabbing his arms in a breeze, and then tripped him up with a simple kick on the old servant’s leg. And then he disjointed the old servant’s shoulder and grabbed both of his legs, dragged him back to the scene.

At this point, the old servant finally came to figure out that the situation was too late to be reversed anymore. He bawled and cried hysterically as if he was about to shake the whole world with a burst, “Please, spare my life! I will repay you by toiling myself like beasts of burden for you as long as you can let me go!”

Song Qinghan looked at him with disgust and sneered, “Let go? Why didn’t you think of letting go of me when you switch the powder? And why didn’t you let go of Hualian’s parents while you threatened him like that?”

Compared to the deed Zhai Su did, he felt much more hateful towards what the old servant did.

Such a servant was so evil and didn’t deserve to be a mankind. How could someone be so vicious because the other party just made him lose his face while nursing a grudge to murder?

Wu Dahu took out a rope and tied the old servant’s hands and feet. He tucked a pile of cloth into the servant’s mouth and warned coldly, “I won’t kill you now, but it all depends on you.”

“Wait! He hadn’t confessed yet about my parent’s location!” Hualian broke in as he saw Wu Dahu tucked something in the old servant’s mouth.

Song Qinghan frowned and looked at the house in front of him. “They aren’t in here?”

Despair fulfilled Hualian’s eyes, and then the boy shook his head, saying, “This is my house. If they are in here, I wouldn’t have been threatened by this vicious old man.”

Just as Wu Dahu was about to pull out the cloth in the old servant’s mouth and let him speak, a familiar cry rang.

“Master, Uncle Wu! I’m here!”

Song Qinghan’s eyes lit up as he looked at Yuan Wenxuan who was running towards him. He couldn’t help but hug the boy tightly in his arms and said emotionally, “Are you alright?”

Yuan Wenxuan was somehow a bit embarrassed. And then Song Qinghan reacted and recalled that it was not a good etiquette to have a normal hug in this ancient time, so he loosened his hands, wiped the tears off from his eyes using the handkerchief in hand.

Seeing that Song Qinghan’s eyes were full of redness, Yuan Wenxuan came to know that the absence of him must have worried Song Qinghan much, and then he smiled hurriedly saying, “I’m fine, Master. Don’t worry about me. By the way, how are you now? Are you still suffering from that unknown illness?”

Song Qinghan gradually calmed down and he said with satisfaction, “Everything is fine now. I will be completely recovered after few more days of rest.”

“That’s great,” shouted Yuan Wenxuan, and then he caught a glimpse of Hualian who was sallow-faced there, “Master, probably the culprit who set you up is right there, Hualian. Because I saw the flowers he had watered vanished just overnight!”

Hualian collapsed on the ground and stared at Yuan Wenxuan who was all fine standing there, and then he commenced sobbing again, “It’s all my fault, I did everything so wrong no matter what happened. But it’s so unfair to my parents to be punished by that.”

Yuan Wenxuan looked at him thoughtfully and suddenly said, “Oh, you ARE one of the family members? They are right in the house now!”

Hualian was utterly shocked as he was informed by Yuan Wenxuan about the news, and then he hurriedly raised his head and looked into the direction where Yuan Wenxuan pointed at. He frowned seriously as he found that was his own house, and then something seemed to occur to him all of a sudden, he asked in astonishment, “Were they in the back yard of my house?”

After that, he rushed over to that place without hesitation. Noticing that Song Qinghan and Wu Dahu didn’t stop Hualian, Yuan Wenxuan bothered to warn them that probably Hualian would flee away.

Not long, Hualian released several people from the back yard of his house who were tied by arms and legs. From their appearances, it could be seen that Hualian must got a blood tie with them.

Wu Dahu and Song Qinghan looked at each other. They grabbed the old servant and threw him onto the carriage that the old servant brought. With Yuan Wenxuan, they headed to the woods together.

They had reached an agreement that they wouldn’t blame Hualian for the whole event. The first reason was that all these matters weren’t out of Hualian’s intention but he was threatened by the others, and secondly, Hualian had already gotten enough lessons and sufferings physically and mentally in these recent days, so they thought even they didn’t punish him, he would be enlightened by his own based on what he had experienced so far.

As the carriage drove deep into the woods, Wu Dahu reached out and grabbed the old servant up and then threw him on the ground while saying coldly, “Only Buddha is able to save you now, you better pray!”

The old servant didn’t dare to say anything, but it could be seen from his eyes that he was now in a complete despair as he was looking around and observing the environment around.

And probably he had figured out that begging for mercy now was much useless, so he didn’t even struggle to do anything at all. What he could do now was just staring at the carriage viciously which was running again.

A scary roar of tiger sounded afar when the carriage almost got out of the woods, Wu Dahu smiled faintly while saying indifferently, “Now it seems that the Great Buddha doesn’t bless him at all.”

Song Qinghan didn’t make a sound but sat inside the carriage quietly while holding Little Shitou in his arms. And then he suddenly asked, “Is his hundredth day approaching?”

Wu Dahu was stunned for a moment, then he counted the days in his mind. He nodded and said, “Indeed… It seems…”

Seeing that both of them looked like in disorderly fashion, Yuan Wenxuan came to remind, saying, “Five more days! Five more days and Little Shitou was a hundred-day-old boy!”

Little Shitou seemed to understand the words of Yuan Wenxuan, he turned his head towards Yuan Wenxuan and grinned, chuckling happily.

Song Qinghan was a little guilty there. Counting something was always his inability, but he never expected that Wu Dahu would be the same. Poor Little Shitou! His hundredth-day banquet was almost forgotten by his parents!

After they got back home, they had lunch and went back to their rooms to rest, and woke up till the darkness overwhelmed everything outside.

There were many things that needed to be prepared for the Hundredth Day banquet, but Song Qinghan didn’t know anything about it. He cooperated with what Wu Dahu ordered while Yuan Wenxuan occasionally came to lend a hand.

However, the people who needed to be invited really gave them a headache. They didn’t get so many friends since they just got here in the provincial capital. After all, Song Qinghan got no chance at all to get a smooth social activity while Wu Dahu didn’t intend to make any friends purposely in the Martial Club. Yet, they still got several guests who popped up immediately in their minds like He Liwen, Old Zhu, Doctor Shi and so on.

However, they got a bit embarrassment getting along with Old Zhu since Old Zhu was an old acquaintance to Zhai Su. But if they didn’t invite Old Zhu, situation would be much more embarrassing after the old man figured out the banquet thing. In the end, with a long mental struggle they only wrote the name of He Liwen and Doctor Shi on the invitation paper.
