A Western Doctor’s Happy Farming Life[1] 129

A+ A-

Wu Dahu didn’t let Song Qinghan down. Before the sun started beaming as fierce as it could, he opened his eyes slowly, just as he saw the smiling face of Song Qinghan, he came to at ease suddenly as his strained nerve loosened at once, he loosened his hands, saying subconsciously, “I’m alright, don’t worry.”

The smile on Song Qinghan’s face got even deeper as he noticed that the first thing Wu Dahu did after woke up was to console him, he struggled to stand up, wipe the residual snow on his cloth. After making sure that the box wasn’t lost, he turned to Wu Dahu again, saying jubilantly, “Finally! Time to go back home! We got the material for making the antidote!”

Not long after they walked out, they met the group led by the master.

The master’s face assumed an expression of excitement when he saw that both of them were saved. But just as he noticed that the couple was holding hands tight, he paused and withdrew the happiness on his face.

“Are you going back home? Doctor Song. I wonder if there is still a hope for Goudan to be saved?”

Goudan’s femina father hurried to break in before the master spoke as he glanced at Goudan who was hurt badly everywhere.

Seeing that Goudan lowered down his head with an expression of self-accusation, Song Qinghan laughed suddenly, saying, “How come he can’t be saved? Just don’t give up and follow the steps I had mentioned to you, be hard and be ruthless. He will definitely be fine after three months.”

Hearing that, both Goudan and Goudan’s femina father were putting on an expression of excitement, they stared at each other in the eyes, and then nodded decisively, “Yes, we can make it! Thank you so much, Doctor Song!”

Song Qinghan nodded. Before he left, he seemed to have suddenly recalled something in his mind and asked, “Are you guys going back to the village? I suppose that all they had been ruined!”

The master looked up at the snow mountain which had regained its tranquility and peacefulness as his pair of eyes was loaded with full of determination, “We have inherited our mission from our ancestors, and we will keep our responsibility to accomplish it no matter what’s going to happen. As for our offspring, it depends on them whether they want to inherit or not.”

After that, the expression on his face suddenly softened, and then he said slowly and gently, “In addition, those houses aren’t a big deal, we will consider the idea you mentioned to us to rebuild our own village.”

“Alright,” sounded Song Qinghan, he was stunned at first, but then he smiled, and made a bow with both hands folded in front, “then, we will separate here, we will meet in the future if we get a chance!”

A trace of reluctance flashed across the master’s eyes, but he still smiled and said, “Okay! All the best!”

Only after eyeing the two turning around did the master sighed heavily and secretly.

Suddenly, a teenage boy popped out from aside and suggested to the master while his eyes were equipped with curiosity, “Master, keep him if you like him! We got so many people here, how come we can’t defeat just one bulky man?”

The master got his nerve strained all of a sudden and then reached out to cover the boy’s mouth. Realizing that Wu Dahu and Song Qinghan didn’t hear that, he heaved a heavy sigh of relief and roared in a low voice, “Don’t talk something nonsense, you little boy! You know nothing about that, go play yourself!”

The teenage boy was gently pushed by the master and he touched his head with embarrassment. When he noticed that the master was glaring at him, he fled away with a grinning smile.

After the boy left, the master looked at Wu Dahu and Song Qinghan who had become black dots in sight with emotion and whispered to himself, “Stay or not, he will never be mine.”

Wu Dahu and Song Qinghan reached the town, bought a carriage, prepared some dried food and water, and started to go back home.

Song Qinghan carefully took out the box in his arms, opened it, and roughly counted it, and then said with a wry smile, “Oh, forgive me. I didn’t expect that I just got a handful of snowlotus. Well, it seems to be a big harvest for us. We can not only pay one back to Guan Yiyu, but also sell three pieces of them. We don’t have to worry about the money stuff in a short period.”

Wu Dahu carefully helped Song Qinghan pull his scattering and messy hair behind his ear and said softly, “This is all exchanged for life. Let’s ask Doctor Shi first to see if it can be preserved or not. If it can be preserved, we will preserve it ourselves. We don’t have to worry about the coins, we get enough! And in addition, we’re going to the state capital very soon, and at that time someone will take care of our daily routine!”

Song Qinghan dithered, but not long he reached an agreement with Wu Dahu on this deal. After all, the coins weren’t rare than the snowlotus, and what’s more, they could take preventive measures to prevent the unknown crisis if they really encountered something in the future.

After the horse ran for a while, Song Qinghan suddenly felt his body became lighter and lighter, as bunch of small illuminating dots appeared in his sight while his hands trembled out of his control.

The rapid changeable temperature of his physic made his brain giddy, as if the sudden change failed him to acknowledge what was happening to him.

Wu Dahu, who was driving in front, suddenly got a sense that something wrong happened behind him. He turned his head towards the inner carriage. With his nerve strained suddenly, he urged the horse to stop right away, and then got into the carriage to carry Song Qinghan up.

Song Qinghan‘s eyes rolled till the white of the eyes were exposed while his mouth trembled and seemingly let off some queer sounds. Strings of sweat in a shape of yellow bean lingered on his forehead, and some of them fell down through his neck to the the edge of his blouse.

Fortunately, Wu Dahu had once seen Song Qinghan’s drug addicted appearance before, so he was not flustered at all. He directly carried Song Qinghan out of the carriage and put his own cape on the ground and placed Song Qinghan gently on it.

Not long, Song Qinghan’s complexion became paler and paler. Although his eyes had regained a little luster, he looked even more exhausted. He grabbed Wu Dahu’s shoulder suddenly and muttered, “Please help me, Dahu… It really kills me, it’s really painful, I just can’t resist against my body any longer… It’s really…”

Seeing that Song Qinghan’s were gradually tightening, Wu Dahu endured the pain and slowly helped him wipe the sweats on his forehead. He comforted Song Qinghan, “Take it slow, relax. I know you can make it, you got a good method for that to cure the other, you can make it either.”

Song Qinghan suddenly whimpered and buried his head deep in Wu Dahu’s shoulder, saying sadly, “You never know how it feels, it, it really kills me now. My head aches, my stomach aches, every inch of my skin is tore apart. I know, I know it’s all about the nerves, but I still can’t bear it, it’s so unbearable!”

Heartache haunted Wu Dahu as Song Qinghan kept moaning painfully on his shoulder, he reached out to hold Song Qinghan tightly in his arms. With such an action, he aimed to try his best to transmit the warmth for Song Qinghan, and then he whispered gently, “Bawl it out if you feel painful, and it will be fine later. Hey, think about your son, Little Shitou. He will never want to witness his femina father suffering in such a huge pain, right?”

The two just leaned against each other on the midway of the route, and gradually the pains on Song Qinghan’s body faded away. Yet, the inner blouse of Song Qinghan had already been wholly soaked by the sweat, as if it was just picked up from the water.

Song Qinghan returned to the carriage and changed his clothes. He rubbed his temples tiredly. Seeing Wu Dahu looking at him with concern, he forced a smile and said slowly, “I’m all fine now! Let’s hurry on our journey back home, they must be worried so much.”

After they moved on their trip, Song Qinghan stared at the nail cap marks on his own palm. His face assumed an expression of emotional complexity.

As he said before, being as a doctor, he knew that his drug addiction was unleashed through his nervous system, but he still had no ability to resist. In fact, for a moment, a fierce desire for the drug powder once occupied his brain.

He was almost fully assured now that the pack of powder that Qin Sanmu gave him was definitely tampered with. He didn’t know if it was purified or processed, so he could have such a serious reaction after only one.

On the other hand, Wu Dahu was right claiming that Little Shitou would never want to witness him being helpless paralyzed on the ground with that kind of pale face, like a shrimp which was cooked thoroughly. That was a picture full of despair and bitterness.

Recalling the adorable chubby face of his dear son, Song Qinghan tightened his fists which were still trembling slightly.

He could definitely rely on himself to get rid of his addiction, definitely!

On the way back, the drug addiction came to effect once again, which was even more painful than last time. He slammed into the carriage pillar again and again in his hallucination. Even worse, when Wu Dahu approached to hug him in arms, he even opened his mouth wide and bit mercilessly on Wu Dahu’s arm. Probably one piece of the flesh would have been peeled off by that fierce bite if Wu Dahu didn’t get a thicker skin and solider muscles.

Though neither of them spoke, several traces of concern had already been laden deep in Wu Dahu’s eyes.

Previously, Wu Dahu was informed by the master of the Flying Eagle Village that Song Qinghan was able to cure this disease himself, so he didn’t worry too much about that. But now since he knew Song Qinghan couldn’t even treat himself every time the drug came into effect, he finally acknowledged that it was a truth that ‘Doctors always fails to cure himself’. ‘Treatment to oneself’ and ‘Treatment to the others’ were totally two different things.

And finally, before the Heartless Herb came into effect in Wu Dahu’s body, they finally arrived their sweet home.

It was Hualian who came over and opened the door, just as he saw two familiar figures showing up in front of the gate, the yearlong expression of numbness on his face turned into an exciting one with a bright smile, he spoke with his tone trembling, “Young Master, Young Mistress, finally…”

Wu Dahu and Song Qinghan didn’t look good, so he didn’t ask anything and quickly helped them prepare hot water for a bath.

Fortunately, Yuan Wenxuan was also at home. Song Qinghan delivered the snowlotus to the boy and asked him to take it to the Huichun Shop for processing. And later, he stayed at home together with Wu Dahu for a rest.

After the two of them took a shower one after another, Yuan Wenxuan still hadn’t come back yet. But instead, Guan Yiyu showed up.

His pair of eyes was loaded with complexity when he witnessed Song Qinghan came back flawlessly and perfectly. His eyes opened wide as if he refused to believe what he had just seen, and then he asked subconsciously, “Did you really find the snowlotus yourself?! Or did someone else sell it to you?”

Song Qinghan smiled faintly, and then he delivered a wooden box with the snowlotus inside he had prepared in advance to Guan Yiyu, and then said slowly, “Take this integrate one as a reciprocal gift for repaying the petal you used for Dahu.”

Wrath overwhelmed Guan Yiyu in his brain, he turned around and suddenly recalled something after he took few steps outwards, and then turned around again to get the wooden box in his hands, and left without saying anything else.

Song Qinghan shook his head and heard the burst sound of a heavy object falling in the room. He hurriedly ran in. When he saw Wu Dahu lying on the ground with his eyes closed, he quickly moved him to the bed. As he wiped the cold sweat on Wu Dahu’s forehead, he looked at the door anxiously waiting for Yuan Wenxuan.

Fortunately, Yuan Wenxuan didn’t let them down. He came back not long after Wu Dahu passed out with a tiny box in his hands.

Song Qinghan quickly took over the box from Yuan Wenxuan, opened Wu Dahu’s tight jaw and fed him with the round antidote with warm water.

After Wu Dahu took the antidote, his body curled up in pain. Fortunately, Song Qinghan knew that this was a normal reaction of detoxifying poison, so he didn’t panic. He tucked Wu Dahu the quilt and when he was tired out of the struggling, he wiped off the sweat on Wu Dahu’s body, climbed into bed, and slept quietly aside him.
