A Western Doctor’s Happy Farming Life[1] 132

A+ A-

Wu Dahu stepped forward, took out the certificate provided by the provincial capital government and cupped his hands together to explain his intentions to the guards.

The guards were quite straightforward and rather easy-going, they didn’t trouble Wu Dahu and let them pass easily.

Wang Chaoyuan also walked in cheekily. Though Wu Dahu felt a bit strange, he did not say anything.

There was a greeter coming over to introduce to them about the overall arrangement of this huge residence. And in addition, the greeter asked them to pick a satisfied room themselves.

Though everything seemed to go smooth which was beyond expectation, Wu Dahu did not think about it further, he just asked directly, “We can select a room? Are we the first batch who arrive here?”

The greeter smiled and nodded, “Yes, you can pick one as you wish, sir!”

Wu Dahu and Song Qinghan looked at each other in the eyes. It seemed that Song Qinghan was about to say something, but he swallowed the words in his throat as he noticed that Wu Dahu was all eagerness to make a choice, and then he whispered, “You pick one, one with a wider space is preferred.”

They had to stay here for at least a month. After all, the result of the competition wouldn’t be announced at the moment the game was over. Even if the ranking result was announced in advance, the specific distribution would not be decided in a short time, so in order to make life easier, they must choose a room with a larger space.

Obviously, Wu Dahu shared the same idea with Song Qinghan, so he pointed at the room which possessed the largest area on the map, and then said with a low voice, “We will pick here, it is quite nice anyway. It seems that it also gets rockeries and ponds in its little yard, oh here is a garden at his back side. It gets a better view I think!”

The greeter smiled delightfully, and then quickly put away the map in his hands, bowing and saying, “This way, please.”

Song Qinghan caught the flashing expression on that greeter’s smile. The smile of the greeter somehow came with a bit sense of ‘gloating over their misfortune’, thought Song Qinghan.

Then he turned his head to look at Wang Chaoyuan, he found the man’s face was loaded the same expression to the greeter. Song Qinghan’s intuition was telling me right now: Something might be arranged again with evilness?

Yet, since he saw that Wu Dahu was showing all his energy as his spirits were flourishing, he decided not to remind. After all, this was the state capital, not somewhere remote. No serious crime with evil intentions was allowed here, and even if some cases happened, no one dared to do something putting the others in danger.

When they walked to the room, the greeter didn’t push open the door directly, but knocked on the door and shouted, “Another candidate- Wu Dahu is here, ring defender Chang Haiying, please come out and accept the challenge.”

Wu Dahu was stunned, and then his eyebrows sank tightly, “Didn’t you say that we’re the first batch who arrive here? Since you got someone here in this room, why don’t you get us informed in advance?”

The greeter explained calmly, “This is one of the customs before the final tournament. If you want anything, you should fight for it with your bare fist. Otherwise, are you going to give up the chance to live in here if this residence is full?”

His words sounded quite reasonable, but it couldn’t change the fact that Wu Dahu were cheated.

A brawny man came out from the yard with a pair of bulging eyes, blowing his top. It seemed that he was the so-called ‘Ring Defender’ the greeter mentioned- Chang Haiying!

Chang Haiying didn’t seem to know this kind of rule either, so at the moment he saw Wu Dahu, he roared with wrath, “Is that a defiance? You know that this room is occupied and still select here? Do you want to taste my fists?”

Wu Dahu wanted to explain to him in the beginning, but since the man was talking so unreasonably, his eyebrows sank even tighter, and then he answered peacefully, seemingly not intending to make a concession, “I got no idea that this room was occupied before coming here. But now I am not going to compromise! Taste your fists? It would be better for you to taste mine!”

The silent blaze seemed to be about to be ignited the next moment. The greeter and Wang Chaoyuan hid themselves far behind, as if they were waiting for a good show. Yet Song Qinghan was rather concerned standing there.

The people who could attend the final tournament and gathered here were all the top warriors from their own province, every attender should have their own martial talent which supported them to here. Therefore, the fight between these top winners should be far fiercer, getting a fracture would be the mildest result, and probably one of them would die if the fight was of seriousness. Even though he was quite confident that Wu Dahu would surely defeat the man, he was still unwilling to let Wu Dahu fight for nothing.

But battle was always a battle, any hesitation and repentance weren’t one of the rules for it. By the guidance of the greeter, Wu Dahu and Chang Haiying were brought to the ring. They were arranged at two sides on the stage. Chang Haiying stared at Wu Dahu fiercely while Wu Dahu delivered an extreme calmness on his face.

The greeter skillfully acted as the referee and informed the two of them the rules. As he noticed that both of them were showing impatience, he announced the start of the battle.

However, after the battle started, the two of them didn’t entangle together. On the contrary, they slowly walked around at the edge of the stage, seemingly relaxed as if they were leisurely walking in the yard.

Although Song Qinghan was not very knowledgeable about the martial stuff, he did know that the most taboo thing was to take the initiative to start the fight urgently, because such an action would gain no benefit at all but expose his vital and most vulnerable body part to his rival on the stage. Only in the situation that he was fully confident to defeat the other party could he take the initiative to attack. Otherwise, he should wait and see!

Obviously, Wu Dahu seemed to be more patient than Chang Haiying on the stage. He just stared at Chang Haiying in the eyes peacefully and quietly without any expression changes. Such an action totally infuriated Chang Haiying.

However, Chang Haiying was not an ordinary person either. He knew that his mood was unstable right now, so he didn’t delay any longer. He finally took the initiative to attack Wu Dahu tentatively and prepared to retreat nimbly if he failed to punch Wu Dahu. In this way, he could both figure out Wu Dahu’s grounding and guarantee that he would not be eliminated just by a hit.

*Bang!* The two of them quickly separated after a short fight. It took only one step for Wu Dahu to fix his step while Chang Haiying had to retreated three steps backwards.

Seeing that his strength was greater than the other party, Wu Dahu didn’t delay any longer and took the initiative to pounce at Chang Haiying and fight with him.

Like Wu Dahu, Chang Haiying was a warrior in close combat. The only difference between them probably was that Wu Dahu was stronger.

After several rounds of attempt, Wu Dahu finally succeeded punching at Chang Haiying’s waist with a great strength. As the strong force fell on Chang Haiying, he was suddenly thrown out of the stage, and it was not until he slid backwards for around three meters did he finally came to a stop.

The greeter waved his hand motioning them that the battle had come to its end, and the stand-by doctor approached and commenced checking Chang Haiying’s physical situation.

Although Wu Dahu won, he was not feeling well either at the same time. He moved his arm and slowly eliminated the damage caused by the counterforce.

Song Qinghan quickly stepped forward, and handed Little Shitou over to Hualian, he approached and massaged Wu Dahu on his arms.

Though the result came faster than they imagined, the greeter and Wang Chaoyuan seemed to put on another expression of satisfaction. And then the greeter handed over the key to the room to Wu Dahu, and fawned on Wu Dahu like a boot licker.

Wu Dahu happened to catch the anger burning in Chang Haiying’s eyes. Yet, to his surprise, the anger did not come with any trace of evilness.

Before leaving, he cupped his hands to the direction of Chang Haiying and said in a low voice, “You put up an impressive fight. We will meet in the final tournament!”

After he said that, he didn’t care if the Wang Chaoyuan would follow or not, and led Song Qinghan and the group directly into the room they met just then.

There were indeed a lot of servants in the yard. For a rough count, six servants were in the sight as soon as they entered the yard.

They didn’t seem to be too surprised by the change of the yard owner. After introducing themselves one by one, they obediently dispersed and continued to work.

Song Qinghan was very satisfied with this. Although he found that there were several femina men among the servants and guessed that they were prepared to help the owner of this room ‘warm up the quilt’, but fortunately, these people looked quite well-behaved at the moment, which meant that they were able to assist them in daily routine.

The busy day finally passed, they had their dinner and then took a warm bath, arranged their package and then returned to their own compartments to rest.

Though here they got an old servant here who would be responsible to take care of Little Shitou, Song Qinghan still felt rather worried and would prefer keeping Little Shitou himself because his mind was impacted by various modern news how children were ‘abused’ in kindergarten. He would never let Little Shitou to stay with any stranger unfamiliar. Instead, he loved so much when Little Shitou lay between him and Wu Dahu like a little adorable ‘third wheel’.

At first, Song Qinghan planned to continue opening the groceries shop in this state capital, but this place was unfamiliar after all, and the climate was different from the place he had been in. He didn’t know if he could find other new stuffs here, but it turned out that those old ones they brought definitely did not exist here.

Recalling the previous incident of the Heartless Herb, Song Qinghan found that he had underestimated the level of medicine here too much. He indeed possessed an internal drive for excellence and a desire for knowledge in his deeper mind, and showed a great willingness to explore the broad and profound ancient Chinese medicine.

Seeing that Song Qinghan was thinking about something, Wu Dahu thought for a moment and said, “Tomorrow, we will make a trip to any mountain around first. If we can find some new stuffs there, we can consider opening another shop here. When the business starts to boost, we can let Hualian to manage it. Anyway, he has experience before and he had done well. It’s appropriate for him to continue managing it. And by the way, we don’t have to worry about the domestic labor force problem now.”

“Didn’t Wenxuan also want to search for a medicine mansion for acquiring medical knowledge? We’ll see if we can get both of you into the future medicine mansion, and by the way you can guide and teach Wenxuan as he stays close to you.”

Seeing that Wu Dahu had helped him figure out his thoughts so quickly, Song Qinghan nodded happily, put his hand on Wu Dahu’s shoulder, touched his hard six-pack, and fell into his dreams.

With the intimate sensual touch, Wu Dahu got his mind burning suddenly. Just as he was about to remove Little Shitou to the other bed, he turned and found Song Qinghan had been already asleep, so he came to know that Song Qinghan didn’t have any intention to have a further body contact, he lowered down his head and stared at his bulging pants, he smiled in bitterness and then he came to hold Song Qinghan’s hand tight, trying his best to calm down.

The next morning, Wu Dahu and Song Qinghan got up early and walked outwards together with Little Shitou and Yuan Wenxuan.

They intended to ask Hualian to come with them at first. But Hualian thought someone should stay and guard their own stuffs so he volunteered to stay.

The morning in the capital city was still lively. In order to taste the unique snacks in the capital city, they went out without having their breakfast at home. They wandered on the street while binge-eating, and also, they were still holding a bunch of food in their hands that were ready to take back to eat.

Fortunately, there were few people leaving the city. So they didn’t need to line up, they chose a random direction and left with the carriage.

Wu Dahu seemed to have an innate talent for discovering mountains and forests. Not long after the carriage walked out, they saw the forest hidden behind the nearby village.

As they walked past the village, they found that the villagers here were different from what they had encountered before. They got not much things to do, and in the meantime, everyone seemed to put on a bright smile on face. From that picture they could draw a conclusion that these residents were all living in well-being, and the phrase ‘At the root of the Imperial Palace’s city wall, no residents with long face can be found’ matched the scene they were seeing.

Witnessing that the group led by Wu Dahu walked straightly towards the deeper woods, several villagers rushed over hurriedly and stopped them, and reminded them in warmheartedness, “Brother! Although there exists no any fierce animals within this woods, the landform of it is very complicated. You might lose your way out of concern. If you’re coming here for a spring walk, why don’t you choose the Wuchen Mount over there, and by the way you can go visit the Wuchen Temple.”

Although Wu Dahu and Song Qinghan were a little stunned, they quickly showed their gratitude towards those villagers. They looked in the direction that the person pointed at, and the next moment they both let out a sound of exclamation in a same voice after they noticed the towering mountain which was blurred by several mists and clouds.

True! Scenery indeed varied in different places. How would the temple be like on this towering mountain? And why would it be built there? That was a mystery making every passer-by yearn for untying!
