Alpha Moretti Chapter 35

Me and Ansaldo were woken up by Malik bursting into the room, the door slamming against the wall, and turning on the bright lights.

“What the hel-” I mutter as I use my hand to shield the sudden brightness from the lights from my eyes.

“Elizabeth’s attacking.” Malik yelled, a panicked look on his face, and he ran out of the room before we could say anything else.

That’s when I heard it.

Snarls, growls, yelling and fighting from outside.

Ansaldo was already out of the bed, putting on clothes. “Liam, get to the safe room, and take Luca with you, now!” He ordered.

“No! I want to fight!” I got out of the bed, putting on sweatpants, and looking at the clock.

2:47 am.

Holy shit Elizabeth. Now?

“In what condition are you able to fight?” Ansaldo argues.

“I’m perfectly capable enough to fight.” I growl.

“You are pregnant! With twins! I’ll be damned if I let you fight.” He challenges.

Oh yeah. I’m pregnant. Totally forgot about that for a moment.

Ansaldos eyes cloud over for a second, before coming back to reality. “Lucas coming to get you. I’m not letting you fight. Understood?” He doesn’t even phrase it like a question.

I sigh, clearly frustrated. Luca rushes in right then, and he grabs my upper arm.

“Come on, we have to go, now!”

I was about to protest once again, but Ansaldo shifted and is running outside, and I’m being led in a complete opposite direction.

‘Need to go help. Now.’ Vessel tries to tell me.

I wish we could vessel, but think of our pups.

‘Need to protect mate We need to help the pack.’ Vessel argues

Not now!

Luca shoves me inside a room, guarded by a giant steel vault like door, and he shuts it before I can run outside.

“Let me out!” Vessel pulls through, and I can’t shove him back.

“Liam, control your wolf, bows not the time for you to be fighting. You can help protect the pack in here.” He turns us around, and sure enough, there were other small children, expecting mothers, and elders in here.

“Let’s hope everyone is in here.” Luca mutters, and moves past me, vessel loosing control.

He’s looking around, before his eyes stop on a certain woman with dark skin and medium dark brown hair.

“Yolanda,” he begins, worry in his tone. “Where is Nico?” His voice shakes.

She opens her mouth, but Luca interrupts

“I told you to grab my daughter. Where is she?” He threatens.

“Luca, I’m sure he’s here, let’s just ask around.” I put my hand on his shoulder, but he shakes it off. “This room isn’t big, Liam! Everyone besides my pup is in here!”

And before I can grab him, he types a password into the vault door and runs outside, leaving it slightly ajar.

I panic, and look around, pointing at a mother with her two pups. “You! You’re in charge until either Luca or I get back. Make sure everyone is safe and accounted for.”

I clearly can’t trust this Yolanda girl, and I have no idea about this mother, but nonetheless, she nods, understanding me, and I rush out as quick as possible, shuttling the steel door behind me.

Looking around, I don’t know what direction he went in.

Wait, I’m a werewolf. I can smell him. Goddess, sometimes I’m so dumb.

I quickly pick up his scent, and follow it upstairs.

Nicos room.

I just about turn the corner of the hallway the room is located in, when I hear a ear piercing scream, and a growl.

Running, I enter the room, but Luca isn’t there.

Just Nico and Luca’s blood.

‘Ansaldo, Lucas gone. Bring Malik, I’m in nicos nursery.‘ I mindlink.

I go and pick up Nico out of her crib, before I get a response from Ansaldo.

‘I can’t go in, but Malik is on his way.’

Nico is now crying, and I noticed a shattered window, and a giant glass shard with a ton of blood on it.

I don’t even notice I’m crying and hyperventilating until I see my tears drop on the floor.

I hear and smell Malik rush in, and he stops on the scene.

I look over at him, his face completely white. Completely shocked.

“Malik…” I whisper.

He takes a few steps closer, his eyes never leaving the blood on the white carpet. He stopped close to me and Nico, and he carefully picked up the giant glass shard.

“Where is he?” I can barely hear his voice.

“I don’t know. He came back to get Nico after realizing he wasn’t in the safe room. I heard a scream, and came in here like, ten seconds later. I he wasn’t here.” I barely form the words out of my mouth.

He drops to his knees, his face full with anger, sadness, just any mixed emotion that wasn’t positive.

Ansaldo rushes in about five minutes later, stopping at the sight.

“The coven is suddenly retreating. Do you guys know- oh goddess.” He stops, the sight of blood, Malik in the ground, and me holding a distressed Nico.

“He’s dead.” Malik suddenly says.

“You don’t know that.” I defend.

“He’s dead!” He shouts, scaring Nico even more. “Our bond is off. I can’t feel him anymore.” His voice, full of frustration, slowly dies as he speaks.

Ansaldo goes to inspect the shattered window. “Looks like the witch jumped. The bushes are wrecked, and it looks like it wasn’t just one person who jumped.”

“We can still find him. Can’t we?” I try.

Ansaldo hesitates.

“Oh, we will find him. And I will rip Elizabeth’s head off, and burn her body.” Malik growls.

I take a step back, scared, because I have never seen Malik act like this.

“She will pay. For everything she has done.” He gets back up slowly. Blood staining his knees and below, his hand tightening around the glass shard.

Ansaldo and I exchange a glance.

“Malik-” Ansaldo begins.

“We begin to plan an attack. Now.” He demands.

“No. Think of the pack first. There people dying, wounded, dead-” Ansaldo tries to reason

“Dead like Luca is!? Of course they are. So let’s plan something. Now.” He growls.

“Think, Malik! Think for goddesses sake! You have a pack who needs you! You have a daughter who needs you! We can’t just plan a rush attack like this. That’s what she wants.” Ansaldos alpha voice seems to shake the entire room.

Malik stops, and looks over at Nico crying in my arms. He seems to calm down, and he reaches for his daughter.

I pass her over to him, and she immediately calms down.

“We will find Elizabeth, Malik. And Luca, because I don’t believe he is dead.” I assure.

Malik’s has just tightens, and he holds back tears from falling.

He says nothing else as he exits the room.
