Falling For Him Chapter Thirty

It has been two weeks since Kai and Nicolas came back from New York. They were now back at school and things were going very well. Luciana has yet to come back but Nicolas doesn’t think she will.

This morning when Nicolas woke up he tried to call Kai but the younger boy wasn’t answering. After eating breakfast, Nicolas tried again but was left with no response. He was growing worried so he decided to drive to Kai’s house.

When he arrived, he rang the doorbell and was met with Kai’s dad.

“Good morning.” Nicolas smiled.

“Good morning. What are you doing here?” The older man asked and Nicolas answered that he was looking for Kai.

After being told that Kia has been in his room the whole day without even coming down to eat his breakfast, Nicolas climbed up the stairs, his worry growing.

He opened Kai’s bedroom door softly and his heart dropped at the sight he was met with.

Kai was sitting on his desk chair, his forehead pressed against the desk, his hands clutching at his hair and his shoulders were shaking.

Was he..crying?

“Kai?” Nicolas whispered moving closer to him before softly removing his hands from pulling at his hair.  “Baby, what’s wrong?”

Kai looked up at Nicolas in surprise with bloodshot eyes and a few traces of tears tracing down his flushed cheeks.

“N-Nicolas?” Kai hiccuped. “What are you doing here?”

“I came to check on you.” Nicolas said softly and then bent down until he was crouching in front of Kai. “Tell me what’s wrong sweetheart.”

“I-just- it’s stupid.” Kai frowned to himself, wiping his face in embarrassment.

“Nothing that bothers you can be stupid.” Nicolas told him firmly before getting up and in one quick movement he had picked Kai up in his arms.

Kai shrieked in surprise, wrapping his arms around Nicolas’s neck and keeping his legs locked around his waist to prevent him from falling. “What are you doing?!”

Nicolas didn’t answer and instead moved to sit on the bed like they had when Kai came looking for him at the hotel. He pulled Kai closer until there was no space left between them at all before cupping his red face and making him look at him, “Tell me what’s wrong”

“I-um.” Kai was beyond flustered at their positions and at the way Nicolas was acting but with the way his boyfriend was looking at him he knew there was no way he was going to let go of this without an answer.

“Ever since we’ve been back at school all these teachers have been giving us so much work. And I don’t understand so much of it and when I try to ask, even their explanations suck. I have to hand in much stuff tomorrow and I don’t understand anything. I know it’s really stupid but I started to feel stupid and then I started to think about all these t-things and then I just started to cry.” Kai explained, looking down in embarrassment.

“Baby.” Nicolas said with a frown. “Why didn’t you tell me about this? You know I would have helped you.”

“I didn’t want you to think I’m stupid. I also didn’t want to bother you because you also have a lot of stuff to do.” Kai mumbled and Nicolas’ gaze softened.

“I can never be too busy for you Kai, and you’re not stupid. I could never think that about you and you shouldn’t either. It doesn’t mean that you don’t understand something that you’re stupid.” Nicolas told him firmly and Kai slowly nodded

“Next time this happens I want you to tell me okay? Or else I will be very upset.” Nicolas demanded.

“Okay.” Kai mumbled.

“Good boy.” Nicolas smiled, ruffling his hair and leaning forward to press a kiss against Kai’s soft lips.

“Come on let’s get you to eat something and then we will work on this together alright?” Nicolas said, grabbing Kai’s hips and pulling him off his laps.

“I don’t wanna go downstairs.” Kai mumbled. “My mom is gonna know I’m upset and then she’s gonna ask questions.”

“I’ll get you something to eat and you will eat it here then.” Nicolas told him and Kai gave him a grateful smile.

Nicolas came back with a bowl of Kai’s favourite cereal, promising him that they would go out to eat a good lunch or order something.

Nicolas sat on the desk chair and motioned for Kai to sit in his laps while he ate. As Kai finished his bowl Nicolas started looking through Kai’s notes and books to see what he was struggling with.

When Kai was done eating Nicolas kept him in his arms and went over every singe thing that Kai had difficulty with. He was very patient and made sure Kai understood before moving into the next thing. When they were done Kai had finished all of his assignments and he was beaming.

“I understand!” Kai laughed and Nicolas smiled.

“Thank you so much Nic.” Kai mumbled hugging his boyfriend tightly.

“I love you so much.” He told him and Nicolas’s heart soared at the words.

“I love you more.” He told Kai who shook his head.

“You’re so perfect.” Kai said with his head buried in the crook of Nicolas’s neck.

“How did I possibly end up with someone so perfect like you? I don’t deserve you.” He continued to say.

“Don’t say that love. You’re the one who’s absolutely perfect. Did I not tell you to stop talking bad about yourself? You deserve the world.” Nicolas told him and Kai sheepishly smiled as he pulled away.

“Sorry.” He mumbled.

It was now Wednesday and Kai anxiously walked into his last class of the day as he was going to get his result for his biggest assignment that he had to do.

The teacher talked for a good fifteen minute making Kai groan internally before finally handing out their work. When she finally reached Kai she smiled brightly and gave him his.

“Good job Kai.” She said before moving onto the next one.

Kai looked down at his paper and his eyes widened at the 100% mark. He got everything right?

Of course he would. Nicolas had helped him thoroughly and made sure everything Kai had done was right, and Nicolas wouldn’t have left a single mistake.

Kai smiled brightly and clutched at his paper. The desire to find Nicolas and tell him the news was strong but he knew he had to wait.

After another 45 minutes of Kai stuck in class the final bell finally rung and he hurriedly grabbed his things before leaving. He went to his locker, packing up and hurriedly wore his jacket before basically running out of the school.

He looked for Nicolas and found him leaning against his car, waiting. Kai grinned and started walking towards him and when Nicolas turned around and smiled at Kai with a wave Kai decided to just run.

Nicolas’s eyes widened when he saw Kai run towards him and he stood straighter as he took the last few steps left between then and opened his arms when Kai jumped at him.

He wrapped his arms around Kai while the boy wrapped his around his neck.

“I got 100!” Kai exclaimed and Nicolas grinned proudly squeezing Kai tighter.

“I’m so proud of you baby.” Nicolas told him, placing him back on his feet and cupping his cheeks. “So proud. You did so good, baby.”

Kai beamed at the praise, his heart racing in happiness. He loved whenever Nicolas praised him, it made him beyond happy.

“It’s all thanks to you.” Kai said and Nicolas shook his head.

“You’re the one who did it, not me. I just explained it to you. Don’t give me credit when it was all you.” Nicolas told him and Kai nodded.

Kai leaned up on his toes and kissed Nicolas, making him smile because he absolutely loved it when it was Kai who initiated their interactions.

Nicolas deepened the kiss, grabbing the back of Kai’s head and pulling him flush against him.

“Enough!”

The boys pulled back, startled at the shout and Kai turned in panic at who was the one who interrupted them but when he saw it was only a grinning Arthur his body relaxed.

Noelle who was besides him punched his arm before smiling at them.

“Did I just witness Kai engaging in PDA?” She grinned and Kai flushed bright red.

Nicolas scowled at his friends pulling Kai back to him and hiding his face in his chest. “Leave him alone.”

“Kai I need to talk to you.” Arthur told him with a grin but Nicolas scowled at him.

“Well talk to him, he’s right here.” He said but Arthur shook his head.

“In private.” He said emphasizing the word private making Nicolas tighten his arms around his boyfriend.

“Why?” Nicolas asked and Arthur rolled his eyes in annoyance before grabbing Kai’s wrist and pulling him out of Nicolas’s arms.

“None of you business Nic.” He said and Kai covered his mouth with his palm, not wanting Nicolas to see him laugh.

“Let’s go baby.” Arthur said, wrapping his arm around Kai’s shoulder and steering him away making Nicolas’s scowl deepen in anger.

“Fucking bitch.” He muttered and Noelle burst out laughing.

“You know he just likes to annoy you, no need to be jealous.” Noelle snickered and he turned his scowl to her.

“I’m not jealous, just annoyed.” He muttered.

Kai and Arthur came back a few minutes later, both looking suspiciously innocent.

“Come on let’s go.” Kai said, grabbing Nicolas’s arms and leading him to his car.

They started driving in silence before Nicolas broke it. “So, what did you talk about with Arthur?”

“I can’t tell you.” Kai answered and Nicolas frowned.

“But- I’m your boyfriend!” Nicolas exclaimed and Kai giggled.

“Still can’t tell you.” Kai said.

“So this is how it is? Keeping secrets?” Nicolas drawled.

“You’re not going to get it out of me babe.” Kai tried out the pet name on his tongue, hoping to distract Nicolas from the subject.

“Babe?” Nicolas smiled.

“Mhmm. I always call you Nicolas and you call me all sorts of things so I figured I should try to find something for you.” Kai explained and Nicolas grinned.

“I like babe but you can call me whatever you want.” Nicolas told him.

“Oh yeah? Can I call you baby then?” Kai asked with raised eyebrows and Nicolas chuckled.

“You could if you want.” He shrugged but he knew Kai wasn’t going to because well… he was the baby.

Nicolas parked in front of his house and they both got out and started walking towards the front door. When Nicolas opened the door his eyes immediately darted to the suitcase and his face dropped.

Kai gripped Nicolas’s hand just as Luciana rounded the corner and walked towards them.

Hi guys! I hope you enjoyed the chapter. I really wanted to write the first scene because well… I wish I had a Nicolas of my own when I’m having a mental breakdown cause of school lmao. Also wanted to say that if you’re struggling because of school or anything else it does NOT mean you’re stupid. It’s okay to struggle sometimes! As long as you don’t give up.
