“William, we have to look perfetto. I’m not going to look disordinato when meeting your famiglia!” Nico said sternly as he fixed Will’s hair. His Italian accent was very present, and he switched haphazardly between languages. The two stood on the doorstep of the Solace’s home in Texas, ready for the Solace family Christmas party. Naomi had invited Will to bring Nico, to which he had nervously agreed. Will placed his hands on Nico’s hips.
“It’s gonna be fine. Calm down. They’re gonna love you. Mom already does,” Will supplied. Nico frowned.
“Now or never. Let’s go.” Nico turned and rang the doorbell, lightly hitting Will’s hands off of him. “Mei dei.”
Naomi opened the door excitedly, balancing a baby on her hip. “Well hi there! Y’all are just in time!” She ushered them in and showed Nico where to hang his coat. He unwrapped the scarf Will had demanded he wore and shoved it in his coat sleeve before hanging it in the closet. He shivered as he warmed up.
“This little punkin is Will’s little cousin Mandy! Say hi baby!” Naomi waved to Nico and the baby babbled and copied the motion. Nico smiled at her charm, as Will squeezed his hand. “How about y’all make rounds? Will can introduce you to everyone!”
“Amore, ho paura,” Nico whispered as Will led him to the family room.
“It’ll be okay. They’ll love you. I promise.” He brought Nico toward the couch to some people around their age, about seniors or college kids. “Hey guys!”
The teens jumped up to hug Will, and they all smiled and chatted. Nico stood nearby, slightly awkward and not sure what to do.
“This is my boyfriend, Nico!” Will said, gesturing for Nico to come forward.
“Hey,” he said quietly. He cleared his throat quickly. “Hi.”
“Hey there Nico! I’m Lyss, I’m Will’s cousin. It’s so nice to finally meet you! He never stops talkin’ about you, and Naomi always goes on and on about how nice you are!” Lyss said. Nico blushed and smiled sheepishly.
“Really?”
“Oh yeah. He’s head over heels!” a guy laughed. Will elbowed him.
“Luke, I’m supposed to look cool!” he said, his voice full of mock anger.
“I live with you. I already know you’re a complete idiot,” Nico said, rolling his eyes. The cousins laughed, taking Nico by surprise.
They like me he thought. He blushed and smiled to himself.

Hey loves!! So sorry for not updating. I’ve been going on vacations, dealing with school, and overall having no motivation to write. Writers block sucks.
I don’t know how much I’m gonna update in the summer. I have tons of family time and vacations coming up and swim team started yesterday!!

Do you “key-in” or “kai-in”?
Both are fine. I don’t use this name irl (yet) so I don’t have a “proper” way to pronounce it, but recently I’ve been referring to myself as “Kai-in” or Kai/Ki
Yall can totally call me Kai/Ki (whatever spelling it doesn’t matter) or Key/Ki (whatever spelling)
