Taylor and Evie met in the little hotel park in the early hours of the next day. Evie had to leave for the airport at 12 pm which didn’t give them much time to spend together. The sun still hung low and there were no other people outside when Evie and Taylor sat down on a little bench under a tree. “I really need this time off at home. I miss my family a lot and it never gets normal even after years of touring.”, Taylor said and Evie could relate to her. It was her first time and she had not expected herself to miss her family, friends and home city before the tour. “But I am also quite sad to not see you for some days, now that we have discussed our feelings. And I wanted to talk to you before we leave because I want to ask you if we could not tell other people for now?”. Taylor looked at Evie with an uncertain expression and a tiny smile on her lips. “Who do you mean with other people?”, Evie just asked her back. She wanted to tell her best friend Bonnie at least, she couldn’t hide anything from her as she knew her best and went through every heart break with her. “I don’t want the public to find out, they love to get into my personal stuff and I don’t want that. So I guess we shouldn’t tell anyone from the team…and maybe just someone who’s trustworthy and doesn’t run to the press as soon as possible. But I guess you don’t hang out with those kind of people.”. Evie could understand it. Taylor had told her before how the press tries to get into her personal matter and how they had ruined her dating life before. They were just exploring their feelings for each other, there was no need to make a big deal out of it in front of everyone. “I see what you mean and I can understand. Let’s do it this way.”, Evie said and smiled at Taylor in agreement. All she wanted was to not hide her own feelings in front of Taylor, she didn’t ask for more. “Good. This all still feels a quite new to be. I’ve never liked a woman before and I don’t know…I don’t want to make a mistake.”. Taylor took Evie’s hand and held it in her lap. They continued chatting for some more time and enjoyed each other’s company. Evie was glad that she could enjoy her time with Taylor again without having to worry about her feelings. Everything seemed less complicated again, just like when they had started becoming friends. A while later, they had to say goodbye as Evie had to head to the airport. There was no room for a big goodbye-kiss with all these hotel-guests around them which is why they had to be satisfied with a fleeting kiss on the cheek.
A day later
It was finally Thanksgiving and the preparations were already in full swing. Even though Evie had her own Apartment in the city, she decided to stay at her mom’s house to spend even more time with her family this year. They had already spent hours talking about Evie’s exciting new life and her mom had bought all of Evie’s favorite food to make her stay as best as possible. It was lovely to be home again to have some time off work, even though Evie loved her job and was grateful to finally be able to only do music and not work in different mini jobs to pay the bills.
It was still early in the morning when Evie, her mom, her brother Sam ate breakfast. “This is better than a hotel buffet and that comes from someone who loved staying at hotels!”, Evie exclaimed. “At first you enjoy it but after a while you get quite annoyed to wait in a line to get your food.”. Her mother and brother both laughed and they continued talking about traveling on tour, about the swifts and of course, Taylor. “I am so grateful that she chose you for the support act honey. And you guys get along so well. She seems to be an important friend now.”, her mom after Evie had told her about the Friendsgiving event. “Yeah she really is…”. Little did her mom know. Evie decided that it was best to not involve her mom and brother that early on. Her mom was always worried for her and had to go through her last breakup with her ex which was anything but pretty. Ever since that breakup, her mom had told her to take it slowly and to take some time for herself. That had been her plan before the tour, before Taylor. Evie decided to tell her mom if she’d feel like she’d have to in the future and quickly changed the topic to something else. “But besides all this we should talk about you Sam. How’s school?”.
An hour later, Evie met up with Bonnie. It was their tradition to go for a walk before the thanksgiving festivities officially started and Evie had looked forward to it in the past week. They met in Central Park and immediately started chatting as they had not seen each other in quite some time. Bonny had been on a work trip when the tour had stopped in the city and Evie was so happy to be able to hang around with her old friend. “I can’t believe you’re doing this. I constantly see videos of your performances on my for you page on TikTok and it always takes some time for me to realize that it is you! Half a year ago you were already my most famous friend but now you’re on a sold out tour and get lunch with Taylor Swift!”. Bonnie couldn’t hide her excitement. “Yeah…speaking of Taylor; I need to tell you something. And don’t be mad at me for not telling you sooner.”, Evie started and was actually scared that Bonnie could me disappointed that Evie had kept it a secret. But there had been reasons for he to not tell anyone. She had just wanted to get over Taylor without anyone knowing and she herself had thought that Taylor was the straightest person she knew. She had not wanted her friends to tell her what she had already thought to herself. “Go on…”. “I have feelings for Taylor…”. Bonnie looked at Evie in disbelief and a little bit of worry. “Wait. Really? I mean I really wanted you to fall in love with a woman after the asshole men you liked before but…”. “I know it’s a bit surprising. I mean, I could have chosen any other woman on this planet but I didn’t. They are all not…her.”. When Evie said this, she once again realized how much she liked Taylor. This wasn’t a silly crush anymore. “Well your feelings are always valid Evie! But what are you gonna do about it? You can listen to a hundred songs of her singing about men and…wait – isn’t she dating this football guy?”. Bonnie had no clue what was going on and who was she to blame. From an outside perspective, no one would expect Evie and Taylor to like each other the way that they did. “She’s not, it’s a PR-things. Listen, I thought the same and I felt really silly for having a crush on her when it was so obvious that it would lead nowhere. That’s why I didn’t tell you. But then everything went differently and I know it sounds crazy but Taylor and I kissed…more than once.”. “TAYLOR FUCKING SWIFT KISSES A WOMAN AND THAT WOMAN IS MY BEST FRIEND???”. “Are you crazy? Where in the most busiest park on the whole world and you just scream around the most biggest secret!”. Evie looked around in panic but luckily, they’re only a bunch of kids and another old couple around them who probably didn’t even know who Taylor was. “I’m sorry I’ve lost it. I just can’t believe that you guys kissed. And I am so happy for you to make some positive experiences again…I just never thought it would be with someone like her. I am not into girls but I would kiss her too if I was.”. Evie laughed. “I wasn’t sure if she actually liked me after the first kiss. We were quite drunk that day but three days ago she told me that she liked me and that she also didn’t know that she was into women as well…I don’t blame you for thinking she is so straight because that’s exactly what I did and she apparently did so as well.”. Bonnies expression suddenly changed and she didn’t look that excited anymore. “Is everything okay? I am really sorry for not telling you sooner!”. “No it’s just…I hope this isn’t just a fun experiment for her…But I am sure it’s not! I am really happy for you and you should be too.”. Bonnie smiled at her again and patted her back for a few seconds while they continued walking their usual route through the park. Bonnie did seem to be happy for her but her concern stuck with Evie for a while.
