A week later, the tour arrived in LA, Carlifornia. It was the morning after the arrival and Evie sat in her hotel bedroom to write in her diary, a habit she had started before the tour to capture this important time in her life. Her life was nothing like it had been half a year before and it seemed to change daily; more and more people started to follow her on Instagram, her streams on Spotify increased daily and Evie felt more and more inspired to put as much effort into her career as possible.
Dear diary,
I am writing this diary in another hotel room. I tend to forget where I am when I wake up in the morning but the thought of performing in the evening keeps me sane. I could write one hundred pages on how grateful I am do this but I won’t; I don’t have that much time today. We arrived yesterday and I hung out with Taylor in the evening which I looked forward to all day long. I love every minute with her, every secret kiss and every smile from her makes my day. I just love to be around her and I just hope that it gets easier in the future even though I don’t know how that will look like. We haven’t discussed our status yet which is fine for now but makes me wonder what will happen after the tour. But at the same time, I don’t want to think about the time after the tour because I don’t want it to end. I just need to think less. I thinks that how I’m gonna end this today.
It was 9 am and time for the breakfast buffet. Most of the dancers met up for breakfast and Evie and her band liked to join. But this morning, it was only her, Kam, Jan and Natalie as they had arrived very late the day before. Evie got herself her usual muesli and sat down next to Jan who was the one who loved breakfast buffets and challenged himself to always try new things at every hotel. “I am still so tired, the last flight was horrible, I did not sleep a second of it.”, he complained and stretched out his arm in the attempt of feeling more awake afterwards. “Now you know how I always feel because I can only sleep in beds.”, Evie joked. She was just as tired but she hated sleeping in as she always wanted to make most out of the day. They both ate their food and chatted about their recent day off when Kam reached their table. “Look who I found?”, he announced and pointed at Taylor who stood beside him. Evie was a little surprised to see her this morning and was suddenly wide awake. Taylor rarely ate breakfast at the buffet as she mostly got room service but Evie couldn’t be happier about Taylor’s change of plans this morning. “They somehow don’t have Omeletts on the room service menu!”, Taylor complained which explained it all. Taylor put her plate filled with a freshly made omelet on the table and sat down next to Evie. “Good morning.”, she greeted her and Evie responded with a wink. “So how was your day-off yesterday. Evie, you told me that Taylor and you worked on music together right? I can’t wait to hear what you guys are up to.”, Kam said while he filled his cup with tea. “Uhm yeah. I mean we are mostly brainstorming and experimenting which is why we don’t have that much to show yet.”, Evie explained and tried to be a good liar. Evie stopped to believe that Taylor and her would release a collaboration any time soon when they end up having sex every time they pretended to work on music together. “Next time, ask me to collaborate with you guys. Remember how well my voice sounded when Taylor and did our performance at Friendsgiving?”, Jan joked and everyone had to laugh in unison.
It was a casual and pleasant breakfast: The three dancers told them stories about other artists they had worked with before and Taylor shared horror stories about fellow crew members. Evie enjoyed the gossip and was relieved to be a part of such a healthy environment on this tour. As the conversations went on. Taylor’s lower body moved towards Evie’s and Evie had a hard time ignoring it. Finally and when she thought that everyone was busy engaging in the conversation , she surrendered and rested her hand on Taylor thigh. It was just a small gesture compared to what they had done behind closed doors but the feeling was still thrilling considering the fact that they weren’t alone in this room. Evie and Taylor exchanged a quick look and smiled at each other. The situation felt right and there was a short moment in which Evie and Taylor seemed like two normal people who just happened to be at this fancy hotel and who were openly into each other. Evie enjoyed it while it lasted. Suddenly, Natalie, who sat next to Taylor, pushed herself away from the table to stand up and caused Taylor to brush away Evie’s hand from her thigh. “I’m gonna get myself an orange juice. Does anyone else want some?”, Natalie asked the group. Evie only shook her head while she was still a little bit surprised by this sudden change of mood. She also wanted to keep their relationship private and she knew how important it was for Taylor but there was also a part of Evie who wanted to be less cautious and controlled around Taylor. She wanted to plant a kiss on Taylor’s lips whenever it felt right and wanted to play with her blonde, soft hair in public and not only when they were alone in bed. But that wasn’t the reality and that needed to be fine, Evie thought to herself. Taylor wasn’t just someone she had met on the street and it was obvious, that she didn’t want to run around to tell everyone who she had a crush on. Still, it wasn’t the best feeling when Taylor moved away from Evie at the breakfast table while Evie had to pretend to be just fine.
