A Darkening World And A Sleepy Protagonist Chapter 19 (Unedited)

A+ A-

“So, this is the so called ‘Blessed ChildHah ” An unfamiliar, clear voice, stretched across the room. Sounding masculine, yet not very deep, and youthful. You could hear a ‘smile’ in the voice, as if the person was amused by something.

It was the first sound Neal’s ears caught as he found himself coming back to his senses. Dark purple eyes slowly open as he began processing his surroundings.

A cold, hard, concrete ground laid beneath Neal. The palms and fingers of his hands felt as if he had just stuck them into freshly fallen snow. Whatever room he was in was cool, like if you were standing in a walk in freezer. The clothing he had on barely did anything, he couldn’t help but crave the comfort of an oversized sweater and four heavy blankets.

Then it could be a great place to nap.

Not that sleeping in this situation was what he was going to do. He already just broke out of that strange out of haze state he had been in. The side of his neck still stung from where her nails had dug in.

He wasn’t sure if whatever was wrong with him wore off or if he got shocked out of it due to being in this cold place.

However this wasn’t important right now. He needed to figure out where Azarias was. For him to not be glued to him right now was something he really was not used to. That girl better not have hurt him.

Neal moves to lift his head to look around, however an ache gently throbs inside of his head while his vision blurs. It reminded him of the times he stood up to fast and had to take a moment to regain himself.

Perhaps whatever made him so out of it is still there and he should take things a bit slower.

“This child is really  the one causing the problems?” The same voice spoke again, seeming doubtful and bored. “You merely brought him here and he couldn’t handle the trip. Lillian, are the lower demons so pathetic to be afraid of a child?”

“Your Majesty! This child has lots of potential. Their is something strong inside him. Defiantly superior to those lower demons. I am sure they sensed that and that’s why they come back when he is near their host body !” The familiar voice of that little girl fills Neals ears. She sounded a lot more respectful and hyped up this time somehow.

Child? Couldn’t handle trip? Were they talking about Azarias? Curious and worried Neal pushed through the sludge in his brain and rose his head.

Everything was blurry. The blur that caught his attention first was a red blob.

Slowly his vision began to clear. The blob shifting to a clear outline of a tailed overcoat. It stood out vibrantly against a pair of black pants and white collared undershirt. The over coat had two golden buttons fastening it’s together at the front, the tail down to his knees while the front cut off at his waist to reveal black pants. It had a deep V-neck, showing off the white collared undershirt and black tie.

Neal took in the clothing that reminded him of what a ring leader of a circus might wear. Dark purple eyes making their way up the tall, thin form to take in somewhat short, curly fridge styled dark blood red hair, a shade darker then the more vibrant colour of his tailed overcoat.

These were the things that caught his eyes first, perhaps because it was the only splash of colour in this dark, cold place.

His eyes last landed on the persons face, which was rather youthful and nice on the eyes. If he had to guess, Neal felt this person may be in their late teens or early twenties. They seemed to lean more on the masculine side, with rather well defined jawline. However he could only make out so much from where he was.

Now that the blurriness in his vision has faded he could take in the room more properly. Taking his eyes away from that figure he gave a quick glance around the room. It seemed unnecessary large, about the size of the typical high school gym.

Even having something like a stage, where that man sat in a rather large chair, maybe a throne? It resembled more of a type of art piece some how, not exactly looking very comfortable. Multiple silver vines are spread around and bunched together, formed to make various shapes into what was this throne

Their didn’t seem to be any windows to the room, the only light source from various candles placed along the walls.

That didn’t make it hard to see if your eyes were well adjusted like Neals were. Easily making out the others in the room, which seemed to be just him and two others.

The other one being the familiar Lolita girl, whom Neal had no trouble recognizing from the back due to the clothing she wore. She knelt by the bottom of the steps which lead up to the large throne, head turned up towards the man sitting in the throne.

The ground over there seemed to have a lush red carpet placed down, which ended just a bit behind where the girl kneeled.

Neal could not help but be rather envious, since the carpet looked a lot warmer and softer then the hard concrete his hands were pressed against.

“Hmm..really?” The man leaned forward in his seat, hands grasping onto the arms of the chair as he got up from his seat and walked foreword. His figure tall, long legs stopping as he reached the edge of the upper level.

He tilted his head to look down at the girl kneeling before him, before his eyes shifted to something else. He gave a small wave of his hand, causing the girl to give a small bow of her head before scooting a bit further way as he began to make his way down the steps.

Turning to the side once he reached the bottom he then leaned forward, looking as if he were reaching to pick up something from the ground.

Neals eyes widened as he saw the familiar long hair on the small form laid beside the last step. Now in clear view with the Lolita girl moved off to the side.

A long fingered hand stretched towards Azarias face. As it got closer his nose began to scrunch up, an uncomfortable look on his face as he quickly turned his head to the side away from the approaching hand.

The hand paused a moment, the man tilting his head a bit to the side as he observed the child’s reaction. That didn’t last to long though before he continued, placing a hand on the childs chest.

Mere seconds after skin touched skin the child began shaking his head, hands pawing at the mans hand trying to get it off. Sharp nails dug into his skin, lines forming though no blood was drawn.

“Aghh” Sounds of distress and pain slipped from his lips as he wiggled wildly trying to get away.

The man didn’t even blink, simply staring. It was only a couple seconds before the child stopped clawing at the mans hand, a small cloud of air appearing as he exhaled. Shaking as tears pricked the corners of his eyes before he stilled completely. His breaths coming out slower and slower intill one couldn’t tell if he was breathing or not.

“Hey!! Get away from him! The fuck you doing?” From Neals view, he saw someone he cared about suffering and this unfamiliar person seeming to be the cause of this somehow.

Neal felt weak and shaky, the faint pain still throbbing in the back of his head. That didn’t stop him from ripping his hands off the cold ground and trying to stand up. He needed to go over and get that fucker away from Azarias.

Neither reacted to him. He was no different to the empty air that surrounded them.

“How interesting. I can see what you are talking about now. It would be a pity to get rid of him. Although, considering the potential, he may be to much for the reformation camps…” He looked in debate on something, coal black eyes hard to read as he gave a soft sigh.

“I can take him under my wing! Make him become a great subordinate for Your Majesty!” The girl spoke excitedly. Rose coloured eyes glittering brightly as she looked upon the tall man. She had high confidence in herself, growing more joyful as coal black eyes landed on her.

“You want to take him in? Well go ahead and take him then, I am sure you can make good use of him. However, remember this is training, not torturing, okay?” He removed his hand from the childs chest before standing straight up once again. This boy seemed to have gone into something like hibernation once he asserted enough cold air into him. Suprising how much it took.

It wouldn’t be good if this child became an enemy once he was stronger, a possible pain to deal with. However if he was under Lillians wing then within his years here growing up their shouldn’t be an issue. He would be a good addition to those under him, a great pawn.

Besides, he didn’t like punishing children. He was rather merciless to others but children he always gave chances to, perhaps it was a soft spot.

“Yes, yes! Thank you so much Your Majesty!” A wide grin spread on her lips. Quickly she gave a deep bow of her gratitude, already thinking of how she would begin to train this child.

Training? The hell was Azarias, a dog? The fuck they talking about

Neal didn’t like it.

Now Neal wasn’t exactly an aggressive person, but when he did get pissed off he had no issues with getting in a fight. Usually he never got angry when people were terrible to him, but when it came to those he cared about it was a different story.

“You two can just fuck away, back off. Can’t just go handing him over to this little Lolita girl when he is not yours to do as you please you fucker.” Neal cursed, glaring up at the man from where he was on the ground. Having to drag himself over because his legs refused to work properly at the moment.

A hand tightly gripped the slim leg of the man, refusing to let go as he moved to hold onto it better by hugging it. The action out of hope of maybe tripping the man, or getting him to bend down so he could give him a good smack. Maybe after he would go give that girl a good smack as well for bringing them here.

Coal black eyes blinked, slowly moving down to look at the being he had forgotten was even in the room. The gaze was cold and made Neal shiver. A layer of ice water coated his skin, making that familiar pins and needles feeling spread right through him.

“Lillian. I asked for the child to be brought here. Not this insignificant thing.” He used a free leg to kick at the shivering pest hugging his leg, landing his heal in the center of Neals back making him grunt out in pain.

“I used the human as a way to catch the child since he seemed to care a lot for him. I am so sorry for his behavior! I didn’t think he would be able to move this soon after he got drugged.” She quickly apologized, heart racing as she wondered if he would be mad at her all while glaring at the human. The hell he have to be so disrespectful to the great being that was his majesty, could he not feel the amazing power from him? She would need to be sure to give him a good punishment.

He was holding on to his leg!! She hasn’t even been able to touch his leg yet, agh the little vile thing. Her anger grew towards the human, teeth clenching tightly together as she resisted rushing over to grab him now. If she did she would be disrespecting His Majesty, as he had not told her she could move freely yet or approach his space.

Eagerly she waited for his command to take the human away, then she could deal with the disrespectful brat.

Had he fallen into a mountain of snow from a high cliff onto his back? Because that was what it felt like with the cold seeping into his skin with the pain in his back from where he was kicked. He felt like he couldn’t move anymore even if he wanted to, just simply holding onto the leg while clenching his teeth as he tried to get by the cold and pain.

“You are rather stubborn. Don’t you know when your unable to do a thing? This action is pointless.” If it were not for ignoring his presence he wouldn’t have let the human close enough to even touch him. Coal eyes hardening as the air got colder.

He was getting rather pissed off. So rather then kicking the human aside he decided to punish him in the best way he knew how.

Bending over he reached out and wrapped his fingers tightly around his throat. Lifting him off his leg with no resistance as the hands that held on quickly left to grasp onto his wrist, trying to pull his hand away from his throat.

Ah shit, missed my chance to smack the bastard.

Neal felt mad at himself for reacting automatically like this instead of taking the chance to hit the man.
