“NEXT UP!”

“Two masked competitors, previously teammates, are on the field!” Killua fought the urge to roll his eyes at the theatrics, his hands rested comfortably behind his head as his eyes met Shoji’s. “The mysterious multi limbed, Mezo Shoji!” There was some cheering from the crowd. “And the calculated sentinel Killua!” Killua was startled as the crowd roared as his name was mentioned, Killua glanced up towards the crowd in shock. Did I really make that good of an impression?

“BEGIN!”

Shoji quickly morphed his tentacles into strong hands, knowing from the previous game that this would most likely come down to physical strength. Killua dropped his hands from behind his head and slid them into his pockets with a sigh. “No hard feelings, alright Shoji?” Shoji nodded, then came at him. Killua decided to take the first round slowly, to show off a little. As Shoji began to run at him, he just stayed still. This caused his opponent to hesitate, but ultimately keep charging forward.

At the last moment, Killua sidestepped and stuck one of his feet out. Shoji was going too fast to redirect himself, and ended up stumbling forward. Killua chuckled a little and turned to face him. Shoji got to his feet relatively quickly, then tried it again. Killua spent the next few seconds evading him, watching his opponent get increasingly more frustrated with each attempt. Eventually, Killua started feeling bad for Shoji so by the minute mark he decided to end the combat. He moved quickly, getting himself behind Shoji and delivering a strong chop to the pressure point on the back of his neck.

He was out like a light the moment the blow landed. Killua caught him, slinging one of his arms over his shoulder as he walked his way off the stadium. “WHAT A QUICK MATCH! And the winner is KILLUA!” Killua gently dropped Shoji off to one of the medical professionals on site, reassuring them that he was going to be fine. As Killua strolled his way off the stage, he suddenly realized something. This is a lot more fun than I thought it would be. Originally, he’d only imagined U.A being something to occupy his time. But here he was. Making friends, having a good time.

He might not really care about becoming a hero, but he certainly was going to make sure he did well in school. I actually hope Shinso gets put in the hero course, maybe he’ll even get placed in class 1-A. He thought optimistically, making his way back to the stands. Killua sat down once more, settling back comfortably. “You seem in a strangely good mood.” Killua turned to look at Todoroki, and he laughed. “Honestly, yeah. Not really sure why.” He admitted. Actually this is really weird. I don’t usually feel like this.

“Did I get hit by a quirk or something?” Killua mused aloud, bringing his feet up to rest on the same seat he was sitting on. “Or maybe for once you’re experiencing genuine happiness. You always look vaguely depressed.” Killua hesitated, mouth opening to retort. Then he paused, thinking. “You might be onto something.” He muttered to himself. I haven’t felt this light since our early days on greed island. Before the war. He let out a deep sigh, leaning back against the seating arrangements comfortably. I can get used to this.

The soft pattering of debris upon tile was the only noise that permeated the hollow spherical room around her. It was nearly bare, save for a large circular table in the center of the room, an elaborate hammock strung from the ceiling, and a large tome ten feet wide splayed out on the table. The hammock dipped and swung under the weight of its occupant. “7 am already?” She groaned, slipping out of the comfort of her hammock and coming down gently right beside the large tome dwarfing the table.

She was quite small beside the thing, one sheet of parchment was as long as her entire body. A soft hum filled the silence of the room as she dipped a hand into one of the drawers, fishing out a pencil and a notepad as she stared at her creation. “It’s too…happy.” She muttered, tapping her finger gently upon the wood of the table as she read over the scrawls of writing. “It needs…excitement!” She exclaimed, reaching forward and dragging an eraser over the last five paragraphs she’d been writing.

A delighted grin spread across her lips as she rewrote the last section, now content as she leaned over to scribble some more. “Ah, perfect. Just what it needed.” Her eyes squinted ever so slightly, having to flick her long black locks out of the way as she finished writing. “Not quite. There’s still one thing missing.” She thought aloud, fingers curling around the edge of the notepad as she drew it closer. “We need another piece on the playing field.” A sly grin pulled across her face, an idea coming to mind. “Oh, this will be perfect.”

She started drawing, sticking her tongue out in concentration as the graphite danced across the page. The quality didn’t much matter, but she was always delighted to try. She worked, hunched over that notepad for nearly an hour, raptured in the process. As she completed her creation, she slapped the paper down onto her tome. Watching as it slowly faded and melded into the sheet of parchment. “Perfect,” She whispered. “I’ve always wanted to try something new.”
