Kalluto was finally released from the detention center thing after three days. He sat outside near the entrance of the building, waiting for whoever was supposed to pick him up. Aizawa was at a field trip with class 1-A or something so he couldn’t stay at his house. Someone else was supposed to pick him up, although Kalluto wasn’t sure who yet. He glanced upwards at the dark sky, twinkling every so often with the soft glint of stars. It was then that he realized something.
I wonder where Gon is, shouldn’t he be the one picking me up?
~~~~~~~~~~Gon’s PoV~~~~~~~~~~
Gon was awoken by a noise, although he wasn’t sure what it was. Gon couldn’t recall exactly what it was that woke him up. He sat upright in the grass where he’d spent the night, focusing his senses. Is that…smoke? It could’ve just been the hero course students training, but there was one thing that made Gon absolutely certain that wasn’t the case. He heard a voice echo in his mind again. Mandalay was inside his head.
“Everyone in class A and class B. In the name of pro hero, Eraserhead, you are granted permission to engage in combat. I repeat. Use your training. You may fight these villains”
Gon inhaled sharply, leaping to his feet and beginning to sprint in the direction of the smoke. There’s villains here? Shit! I can’t fight very well right now but what if one of Killua’s friends get hurt? Plus, they were kids. Sure Gon was younger than most of them, but he also had boatloads more experience. As he was running, Mandalay spoke telepathically to him again. Obviously it was a broadcast meant for the hero students, but she had to relay it quickly to as many people as possible. “Listen we’ve discovered one of the villains targets. Its a student named Kacchan.” Kacchan? Who’s that? Gon thought hard to the interactions he had with the hero students. Wait, Kaachan is what the green haired kid calls the guy with the exploding fists right?
“Kaachan you should try to avoid combat. And stick to a group. I hope you can hear me!”
Last time I met him I noticed he gave off a weird distinctive scent. Like caramel mixed with something else. If I can just pick up on that scent… Gon coughed as the smoke coming off the trees filled his lungs and invaded his nostrils, making it hard for him to smell anything. The blood was rushing in his ears, he was beginning to feel anxious. Scent wont work, I need some sort of height advantage. Gon quickly scaled the nearest tree, clenching on to branches as best as he could. He ascended as far up as he could go, gazing down over the forest below.
What’s that?
Gon thought, narrowing his eyes on a figure suspended in the air. He had no problem seeing in near darkness, the moonlight was enough. There was a bound figure hovering over the treeline, with something silver and metallic protruding from it and downwards into the treeline. He only had a moment to observe before he heard a gunshot echo from another direction. Gon bit his lip, torn. I don’t know where this Kaachan guy is. Is he near the gunshot, or whatever that thing is? Or what if he’s nowhere near me at all. Gon worried. There’s no use in just sitting here! I have to do something. Gon’s attention was captured yet again as something large thundered through the forest, dropping trees in its wake.
There was faint shouting, then he saw it. As the figure in the sky fell and the creature continued destroying the trees, explosions kept firing off in rapid sucession. There he is! Gon went faster, descending through the forest. As he kept getting closer, the commotion seemed to stop. Whatever that creature was had vanished. Gon crouched down on a tree branch, nearby the group of students. They looked pretty roughed up, especially that green haired one. They seemed to be discussing some sort of game plan. “I DON’T NEED ANY OF YOUR PROTECTION DAMMIT!” The blonde shouted, as the group began to move.
Gon decided to follow them from the trees, keeping an eye on them from above. It’ll be easier to protect them from a sneak attack if they don’t know I’m here. He followed from for a good while, before Gon caught sight of someone else in the trees. He wore a mask and a strange hat, and was surveying the students as well. He hasn’t noticed me yet. But.. Gon’s eyes widened as he saw Tokoyami vanish as he placed a hand on some of the feathers atop his head. Gon reacted immediately as he went for the angry blonde as well, letting out a shout to warn the other teenagers. “Behind you!!” Gon yelled, causing the villain to hesitate just long enough for Gon to reach him.
The students from class 1-A whipped their heads around as Gon slammed down hard on the man’s back, left fist clenched and ready to strike. “Its you!” The green haired student gasped, eyes widening in recognition. However before Gon could land a strike, he suddenly began to feel incredibly lightheaded. Gon let out a cough, causing a lapse in judgement just slow enough for the man he’d attacked to gain his bearings. “Nice try, kiddo.” He said. Before Gon could reply or lift his arm, he was transported someplace else. Gon stood at the ready, eyes darting around. But….there was nothing.
Where am I?
There was nothing but an endless sea of blue in all directions, and some leaves and sticks beneath his feet. Gon took in deep shuddering breaths, stumbling to his knees with a cough. I’m getting so…light headed. Damn it… Gon collapsed onto the cold floor, struggling to drag more air into his lungs. Every breath felt like he was inhaling clouds of heavy air. No, heavy wasnt the right word. Thick maybe? And it was only getting worse. I’m s-suffocating… He felt the object strapped to his cheek begin to peel, drooping from his face. The moment it hit the floor, Gon was out cold.
