“Don’t bother taking the practical portion of the exam, you failed the written one.”

Killua stiffened. Shota had just come back home, and he wasted no time. He could feel the irritation just oozing off of his guardian. Killua slowly turned his head, only to see Shota the most pissed he’d ever seen him, arms crossed, his eyes boring holes into his own. “Hah? But I studied-” Shota spoke over him. “So you planned this?” Killua gulped, he had to admit Shota’s rage did make him slightly nervous. “You aren’t joining U.A. I agreed to letting you do a sport, not going into battle.” He said crossly. Killua huffed, leaning back in his seat. “Jousting is a sport.” He replied. Holy shit he’s fucking pissed- “Don’t sass me, Killua. This isn’t a joke.” Shota said harshly, looking him dead in the eyes. “Villains won’t care about your handicap. They’ll exploit it. Your one very fatal weakness is glaringly obvious, and extremely easy to take advantage of. Killua you’re always so tired, your body is weak, I’m not letting you do this.”

Killua looked away, gritting his teeth. Shota was right. But he’s also so wrong. The only reason I’m exhausted all the time, is because I’m doing Ren most of the day to improve my Nen. But… “Fine. I won’t go behind your back again. I’m sorry..” He did feel bad for sneaking around and worrying Shota. Killua felt a gentle hand rest on his shoulder, and he turned his head once more to see Shota gazing at him with a worried expression. “Listen, kid. I know you want to make it big. And that’s not a bad ambition. But you need to be conscious of your health. I know it sucks to have to give up on your dream, but sometimes in life you don’t always get what you want.” Killua let out a sigh, the man was a bit confused about Killua’s ideals, but he understood the sentiment. “Yeah yeah, I know.” How did I even fail though? I’m sure I got all the answers right… “I have to make a phone call, behave yourself.”

Killua watched as Shota walked away, but something in his gut told him to follow the man. He activated zetsu and slowly snuck close to the closed door, pressing his ear to it. “Nezu, you need to fail him.” Killua’s eyes narrowed slightly. The school principal? “I know he got a 97% but he can’t go to U.A. The kid’s under my protection, I don’t care about his wasted potential, I’m not putting him in danger.” Killua felt a bit of guilt, as he listened to Shota speak to the principal. There was a pause, as the principal replied presumably. “No, he’s not going in my class. I can’t give any of my students special treatment. Plus. He’s quirkless.” Quirkless? What made Shota think that? Now that he thought about it, he remembered the doctors mentioning some results with an exam he’d had on his foot. Something about not having a specific joint, and the way they worded it made it sound like he was unlucky.

Well shit. If they think I’m quirkless, I should hide my electricity. Not that he really needed it. The gravity in this new world was a bit lighter, which he was fairly certain would affect his already impressive speed and strength positively. Killua really needed to test that out, just to know what he was capable of. Killua walked away from the conversation, lost deep in thought. So maybe I don’t join U.A, that’s fine. But I should still keep growing stronger, just in case. He activated Ren once more, going out onto the balcony to get a taste of the fresh air. In that moment of stillness, his mind went back to home. He hadn’t thought about anyone back at home in a while, as it tended to make him feel anxious.

Man. I wonder how the others are doing.

~~~~~~~~~~Gon’s PoV~~~~~~~~~~
Gon hurried into the seer’s office, anxiety twisting in his gut. He couldn’t believe he hadn’t noticed Killua was missing for that long. He’d been off on some of his own adventures for the better part of a year, only going to reconnect with his friends once he got lonely. Only for him to find out that nobody had even heard of killua in ages. Gon managed to find someone who could help, a hunter who went by the name ‘Seerah’
A man was sitting in the dimly lit room, with an extremely detailed map across a large table. A raised one, showing every crack and bump in the landscape. The man was decorated in very colorful looking cloths, and his hair was in long braids all the way down to his ankles. “Ah, welcome in. I’m assuming you have lost something important to you?” He questioned, leaning forward in his chair. “Are you Seerah?” Gon questioned, taking a few quick steps into the room, a hardened look in his eyes. He grabbed a small plastic bag, Gon had been informed on how his abilities worked long before he stepped in the room. “I need you to find someone for me.” Gon set the plastic bag on the table, looking the man in the eye. “How much?”
Seerah let out a whistle. “In a hurry I see. No matter, we can discuss payment afterwards.” He plucked the plastic bag up, carefully opening it and removing a few strands of hair inside. “Just to be clear, is this a piece of what you have lost?” Gon nodded, trying not to get impatient. He hoped it would still work, even though there were so few. He’d found them in some of Killua’s clothes. The man nodded, then closed his hand around the hairs, holding it above the table. Gon could feel the aura emanating from the man as he worked. He opened his hand once more, and to Gon’s confusion the hair seemed to have turned into sand. He slowly let the sand drift through his fingers onto the map below.
Gon watched closely as the sand fell, then seemed to disintegrate. Seerah frowned, looking down at the table. “Eh..?” Gon’s heart sped up, maybe he’d finally find the answer. I hope he’s not back with his family again… “So? Where is he?” The confusion on Seerah’s face was not comforting in the slightest. “That’s…not possible, is it?” Gon tapped on the table to get the man’s attention. “Where is he?” Seerah met his eyes, and Gon’s heart sank at the baffled expression across his face. “Nowhere.” Gon frowned. “What do you mean ‘nowhere’? He has to be somewhere.” Gon said, voice raising slightly. Does that mean he’s dead? Gon’s mouth went dry, his face whitening in shock. The man seemed to notice his expression, shaking his head as he gestured to the table. “Listen kid, my Nen ability picks up on even the slightest trace of whatever’s been lost no matter how far away it is or how many pieces it’s been cut into.” Seerah spoke, with a serious tone.
“Even if this person were dead, I would be able to locate the body. But nothing happened. He’s not anywhere on the map, not even in the dark continent. I dunno what to tell you kid..”
